Bird is lodged in plane's nose cone after colliding with it as it came in to land

Bird strikes are a constant threat to fliers and that danger was brought into sharp focus by an image which shows a bird lodged in the nose cone of a passenger plane after colliding with it. The bird crashed into the plane at El Fasher airport in Sudan. No one was injured in the incident.


Usamah Mohamed, who posted the image on Twitter, said: 'Sudanese aircraft with 108 passengers on board makes emergency landing after being hit by this... eagle!'

J K Rowling's yacht is on the market for £15million (Photos)

J K Rowling, 51, who is reportedly worth £580million bought the Amphitrite in January this year for £22million. The yacht formerly belonged to Johnny Depp and he renovated it lavishly in 2008 at a cost of £5million. The writer is already looking to ship it off and it is available for £15million. 

The 165ft vessel which was built in 2001 has three decks and there is enough space for 10 guests with the impressive vessel containing five cabins, room for a crew of nine, a spacious master saloon and plenty of entertainment for all tastes.
It comes complete with water ski, wakeboard, windsurf, kayak and snorkelling capabilities and its entertainment system boasts a home cinema, satellite TV and video games.

Photos: 80-year-old Man dies in House inferno started by immersion water heater

An 80-year-old man, Godwin Oyia, lost his life in Lagos, after being trapped in an House inferno started by an immersion water heater (boiling ring). The fire incident occured at No 5 Aborishade close, Lawanson, Surulere, at about 10:40am today, Sept 13th.

According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), investigation carried out by the Agency's emergency response team at the scene of the incident revealed that an immersion water heater (boiling ring) being used at the last room on the top floor, led to the outbreak of fire that engulfed the whole building. Unfortunately, the aged man, Godwin Oyia, was burnt to death in the room where the fire started from.

However, although the whole of the top floor of the building was completely burnt down, the down floor was salvaged by the combined efforts of LASEMA, Red cross, the Lagos State Fire Service and Itire division of the Police Force. The dead body has since been recovered and handed over to the Police.

General Manager LASEMA, Mr. Michael Akindele, said proper investigation would be conducted on the incident and advised Lagosians to ensure safety by switching off all electrical appliances when not in use at home or in the office.

Robbers attacked my Jos Home, macheted my dad and said i'll be their next target- Super Eagles' Onazi Ogenyi tells LIB

Trabzonspor of Turkey and Super Eagles of Nigeria defensive midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has revealed to LIB how his family house in Jos was attacked by robbers and how his father was brutalized and valuable possessions taken after some reports on social media about a burglary attempt at his house circulated this afternoon..


According to the 23 year old midfielder who was in his Turkish house as at when the incident happened, he is happy his dad, Pa Onazi wasn't killed during the process.

When LIB contacted him to hear directly from him about the incident, he said 
'My brother nothing more than what you've already heard'

'The police are on the case now.They took some cash and some valuables and a car but thank God they didn't do more than that' Onazi told LIB.

''This people pretended to deliver a letter to my dad on Monday afternoon as soon as he opened the door, they attacked him, tied him with rope, hit him with machete and gave him wounds''

'After that they took a car and money and told him i'm next'

Onazi also said his family members are shaken by the incident but that he's grateful it didn't get worse than that.

Renowned Nigerian forensic pathologist who discovered CTE, Bennet Omalu believe that Hillary Clinton's illness is suspicious.

The US Democratic presidential candidate was diagnosed with pneumonia by her personal doctor after she fell ill at a 9/11 memorial. She was diagnosed on Friday, but her condition was not made public until Sunday. Earlier, a video posted on social media showed Clinton stumbling and her knees buckling before being helped by aides into a black van. 
 
Dr. Omalu was the first to publish findings of chronic traumatic encenphalopathy. He fought against efforts by National Football League to suppress his research on the brain damage suffered by professional football players. Will Smith portrayed him in the movie "Concussion" which depicts the doctor's efforts to publicize CTE

Arik Air reportedly shuts down operations

Arik Airline has reportedly shut down its operation following its inability to pay its debt owned to its suppliers of aviation fuel and also the airlines insurers in Europe and elsewhere have reportedly withdrawn insurance cover from the airline forcing it to shut down operations altogether.

It is alleged that the airline owes its suppliers of aviation fuel N3 billion. Most of the airline's flights have been cancelled today following these development.

Ocha Brigade teamed with joint task force, stormed Agulu, Ekwulobia, Uga on Monday, September 12th, to forestall further illegal collection of tax.

Ghanaian model Belinda Asiamah laid to rest in Accra amidst tears

Belinda Asiamah was laid to rest on Saturday, September 10th after the final funeral rites in Madina attended by her fellow models, family and friends as well as some celebrities.
The late model died on August after complaining of stomach pains and rushed to the hospital. A doctor disclosed that Belinda died as a result of ectopic pregnancy.
 
According to the doctor,
"She was on admission at the Legon Hospital, what happened was she had an ectopic pregnancy; basically ectopic pregnancy is where the fetus develops outside the womb, typically in the Fallopian tube so it called for a surgery because ectopic pregnancy was dangerous for her. So after the surgery, she had a cardiac seizure where the doctors at the Legon Hospital successfully dealt with it"

ASUU to begin a one-week warning strike on October 2nd

The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU will begin a warning strike from October 2nd. The union disclosed this in a statement signed by the Chairman, University of Abuja chapter of ASUU.
"We have tried to dialogue with the Federal Government but they have been playing games with us; we will start with a warning strike to show them we are not jokers. ASUU has being trying to get the attention of the Federal Government to intervene in the academic system of universities across Nigeria but it has all been abortive.
Consequently, ASUU will give a warning strike which will start on Oct. 2nd. The strike will last for one week, and if they do not give us listening ears, we will start the indefinite strike in November," the statement read.
The academic union has been at loggerheads with the Federal government over the non-implementation of its 2009 agreement with the FG.  Among the demands of ASUU includes the exclusion of Nigerian universities from Pension Management Company, non-release of NEEDS Assessment Intervention Fund, funding of state universities, payment of earned academic allowance and renegotiation of the agreements were part of the outstanding issues that have not also been addressed.

34 year old former Burkina Faso international player Ben Idrissa dies after suffering cardiac arrest

Former Burkina Faso international Ben Idrissa Derme died on Sunday after suffering a heart attack in a French Cup match, his family has revealed.
 
The 34-year-old, who played four times for Burkina Faso's national team in his career, represented amateur side AJ Biguglia in a third-round tie.
 
According to reports in French media, he suffered a heart attack early in the second half and medical personnel were unable to revive him after treating him on the pitch.
 
 
May his soul rest in peace. Amen

A supposedly popular mentally challenged man in Ebonyi state was allegedly delivered from insanity after a Pastor prayed for him on the streets in the presence of bystanders. According to an eyewitness, Famakinwa Tunde Braith, this happened last week. From the photos shared, the pastor is also seen helping the man cut off his hair after the deliverance.
