Posted: 05 Sep 2016 12:49 PM PDT Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Shehu Garba, says if PDP were still in power, they would have continued deceiving Nigerians by borrowing to fund stealing and wastage. He said this in a statement released today September 5th. According to Garba, if the last administration had been prudent when the oil price was as high as $140 per barrel, Nigeria would not be in this present economic recession. "We would not be suffering now if we had cash reserves, but we had regular supply of power, a good rail system, good roads and good housing. Now that the oil has fallen as low as $28 per barrel, it is very difficult to do what is needed but they must be done to save Nigeria. There is no other way if we want to be honest. If PDP were still in power, they would have continued deceiving people, by borrowing to fund stealing and wastage and the problem would have simply been postponed for future generations to face. There are many who say that this government's economic strategy is unclear whereas the previous government seemed well coordinated." Garba disclosed that efforts been made towards sanitizing the civil service has resulted in the discovery of 40,000 ghost workers. "See what the current administration is doing to sanitise the huge salary bill by eliminating payroll fraud. So far, the federal payroll has been rid of about 40,000 ghost workers. More than N8 billion stolen monthly has been saved. We are also saving on wasteful expenses like first class travel and private jets for official trips. Currently, there is focus on key sectors (apart from oil) that can create jobs and or generate revenue such as agriculture, solid minerals and manufacturing."He added that media team of President Buhari, which he is a part of, has failed to project his policies that are geared towards enhancing the living conditions of Nigerians. "I will make the confession that we, the officials hired to communicate government policies, that includes myself, have not done as well as we should have," he said in the statement. |

Stop twisting the facts, you are the cause of this bad economy- APC tells PDP Posted: 05 Sep 2016 09:30 AM PDT In a statement released today, the ruling party, APC, has advised PDP to stop insulting Nigerians by twisting the truth regarding the current bad state of the economy. In the statement signed by its National Secretary, Mala Buni, the party said the prevailing socio-economic hardship being faced by Nigerians is a direct consequence of the mismanagement of the economy and unprecedented looting of the country's commonwealth perpetrated under the watch of PDP. Read the statement after the cut. In reacting to the orchestrated and insensitive comments by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the economy, the All Progressives Congress (APC) urges the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to remain focused in its bold bid to restore economic growth in the country. Inspite of the PDP's orchestrated and feeble attempts to blackmail the current administration and twist facts, the reality remains that the prevailing socio-economic hardship being faced by Nigerians is a direct consequence of the mismanagement of the economy and unprecedented looting of the country's commonwealth perpetrated under its watch. The PDP's attempt to turn truth on its head is fraudulent, insensitive and an insult to Nigerians. For the umpteenth time, the PDP must own up to its transgressions and apologize to Nigerians. Going forward, the urgent task before the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration is to restore the country's battered economy back to health and all legitimate and innovative means are being employed to achieve this in the quickest possible time. The APC assures Nigerians of the strong political will and commitment of the President Buhari administration to revive the economy and tackle the nation's current challenges through suitable and well-thought economic policies, fiscal discipline and socio-political reforms. Among other strategic economic agendas, diversification of the country's economy is a priority for the administration. To this end, President Buhari is aggressively formulating and implementing policies aimed at diversifying Nigeria's economy from oil to other sectors such as agriculture, mining and manufacturing. The APC assures Nigerians that the administration will pull the country out of the present hardships. With the support, cooperation, patience and prayers of Nigerians, the country will reach its deserved potential under our leadership. |

Herald the launch of N20 & N50 recharge cards; My experience Posted: 05 Sep 2016 09:15 AM PDT This is a sponsored post... So this is about the new N20 and N50 recharge cards, my discovery last week, while taking a walk through my neighbourhood. Strolls every Saturday morning, turns out to be a delight for me these days as humour lies in every street corner, there never seems to be a dull moment on the Lagos streets. Back to my discovery; the N20 and N50 recharge cards. Having walked through 3 streets, I decided to stop at a shop to have some water; As I gulped down the water I had just bought, a young lady came to make a purchase at the store. Well, I was not in a hurry to leave and so I stood by the corner waiting for my change while the store owner; a woman, attended to the lady. The lady handed her a N20 bill and requested for recharge card. Looking at the duo, I waited for another bill to follow, to at the least, make up a N100 which of cause is what I felt is the lowest recharge card denomination, nothing followed and the woman went into the shop without saying a word. Well if you've had an experience like I have, in the Lagos market where you offered to pay an amount way below cost price while bargaining for fish from Iya Eleja, then you'll be able to tell what exactly was going on in my mind. I feared for the lady and the episode that might ensue especially since the woman went into the shop silently. My travelling mind was jolted to a halt when she came back and handed the lady a N20 recharge card. My face was flushed with surprise which I guess the shop owner noticed. Saving me from my dilemma, she explained that the card she sold to the lady, who by now had left is called One1Card, a multi-purpose recharge card with unique ability to recharge several services. She explained that the single card recharges all mobile networks; Airtel, Etisalat, Glo and MTN. As though on mission to save a "Mr doubting Thomas", the woman went into her shop and came back with 2 cards, a N20 and N50 recharge card with One1Card written on it. This was a pleasant discovery for me; N20 and N50 recharge cards that could recharge all mobile networks? Who says Nigerians are not innovative? With my 11k per second tariff plan, this meant I could access 3 minutes call with this small recharge pack when the occasion warrants. Well sharing is caring, now I have shared my discovery with you. Ask your recharge card vendor for small recharge of N20 and N50 whenever you need them, it's available across the country. It's the orange and blue recharge card with One1Card written on it. If you are a business looking for a micro collection solution or an easy way to collect money for the service you provide, then this multi-purpose recharge will also meet your need. Visit www.onecardnigeria.com to get more than I have shared here. |

Vaz reportedly the men in cash following the sex meeting at a flat close to his Edgware home and also tried to conceal his identity from the prostitutes by claiming to be an industrial washing machine salesman called Jim. During the first meeting with the prostitutes on August 27, which lasted for 90 minutes, he reportedly offered to cover the cost of cocaine, if it was brought to his flat, and also asked for sex drugs although he said he won't be using them. On the day of the sex meeting the male prostitute sent a text to say he was buying the sex drug to which the MP allegedly responded "great". Later, when he was told another escort would join them, Mr Vaz allegedly texted: "How will this work, do you want me to f*** him first or all together. "Does he like poppers. Does he speak English."Later in the encounter the older escort asked Mr Vaz "what do you want?" to which he allegedly replied "You. I'm getting very horny". Before the sex started, Mr Vaz reportedly said: "Take your shirt off. I'm going to attack you."But Mr Vaz now claims he was drugged and that the newspaper paid the escorts to con him. At this time I do not want there to be any distraction from the important work the Home Affairs Select Committee undertakes so well. Select Committees do vital work in holding the government and others to account. We are due to publish two Reports, one into Anti Semitism and the other into FGM in the next few days, in addition we have a number of key witnesses. I will of course inform Committee members first of my plans when we meet on Tuesday. My decision has been based entirely on what is in the best interests of the Committee which I have had the privilege of Chairing for the last 9 years."Speaking to Sky News this morning, he said: "It is deeply disturbing that a national newspaper should have paid individuals to have acted in this way. I have referred these allegations to my solicitor Mark Stephens of Howard Kennedy who will consider them carefully and advise me accordingly."See Photos, Chats and the video below ... |
