Consul General inaugurates ID card for Nigerians in South Africa Posted: 19 Jul 2015 12:06 PM PDT Nigeria`s Consul General in South Africa, Amb. Uche Ajulu-Okeke, says the country's mission was in the process of discussing with the South African government to recognise a Nigerian identity card. Ajulu-Okeke made this known in Johannesburg at the inauguration of the identity card by the Nigeria Union in South Africa. She said the Consulate approved the identity card to identify Nigerian citizens in South Africa. "The Consulate is in the process of discussing with the government of South Africa to accord it recognition so that we reduce the incidents of loss of Nigerian passports. All the information contained in the passport are in the identity card," she said. Okeke said she would meet officials of the South African government in early August to discuss the recognition of the identity card. According to the Consul General, the identity card will give Nigerians dignity and respect when they meet other nationals. She, however, urged Nigerians not to abuse the identity card by engaging in illegal acts with it. Ajulu-Okeke also commended the Nigeria Union for initiating a monthly publication, The NaiRand, and urged the publishers to focus on stories about Nigerians in South Africa. The President of Nigeria Union, Mr Ikechukwu Anyene, said the identity card was approved by the Consulate General to identify Nigerians in that country. He said the card had all the details in the Nigerian passport and would ensure easier identification. " By the time the project is concluded, we will be able know how many we are and how our people are contributing to the economic and social development of South Africa. We call on Nigerians to embrace this card for easier identification," he said. Anyene also said that the monthly publication would be the mouth piece for Nigerians and project what they are doing to take Africa to the next level. (NAN)
Man found dead in Demi Moore's swimming pool Posted: 19 Jul 2015 12:25 PM PDT A man was found dead in actress, Demi Moore's swimming pool last night, Saturday July 18th. Police say a 21-year-old man apparently drowned in the swimming pool and his body was discovered early Sunday morning at the bottom of the pool. It was learnt that there was a party at the house but Demi was not there because she's currently out of town and according to the Police, none of Demi Moore's family was present. A neighbor, however, says Demi's kids have been staying at the house for weeks and have been throwing "parties every day, day and night." She says there are frequent pool parties but none of her kids was present at yesterday's party. According to the police, the man who died did not know how to swim and it appears he slipped and fell in the pool. We're told there was no foul play. It's reported that Demi's caretaker threw the party and invited the victim but the caretaker and others went out at some point leaving the victim behind, and when they returned they found him at the bottom of the pool. They reiterated neither Demi nor her kids were there. As for alcohol, reports claim there was a limited amount at the party. Los Angeles firefighters were first called to the house about 5 a.m. on Sunday, and they called police after finding the dead man. Police are investigating. Photo source: TMZ

According to The Sun, the men were part of a 4-man robbery gang that specialized in robbing churches in Abuja of their tithes and offerings. Usually one member of our gang would attend service in the church before we go to rob the place. When the service is on, we will watch what they are doing, especially during the offering time. We will watch where the ushers take the offering box after the service and in the night we go back for the operation."According to the FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr. Wilson Inalegwu, after much investigation, the robbers' hideout was located and they were subsequently arrested. The police recovered an English Berata pistol and three other pistols from the gang. The suspects will soon be charged to court.

What You Get From Video On Demand Services Posted: 19 Jul 2015 07:26 AM PDT In case-just in case-you have been wondering what video on demand (VoD) services are or what they do, here are the answers. VoD is an interactive television technology that allows users to choose and watch or listen to video or audio content when they want, rather than at a specific broadcast time. A television VoD system consists of a standard television set along with a decoder or set-top-box. Alternatively, the service can be delivered over the Internet to personal computers, top-end mobile phone sets and other advanced digital devices, allowing viewing in real time, or download to a device for viewing at any time. VoD, which provides a wide selection of video programming in entertainment, sports, education and movies, allows users immediate access to content on their preferred devices. Popular VoD services in Nigeria include iROKOtv, which offers documentaries, series, soaps and Afro-centric shows; 9flix, which allows the streaming of TV shows and programmes from across Africa; Afrinolly, a mobile application that provides access to movie trailers, full-length movies and music videos that have been made public by content owners or their legal representatives; and Dobox, a streaming service featuring an array of cinema-released movies, documentaries and cartoons. All of these are strictly online, requiring sizeable amount of data and dependent on sound broadband connection. Also popular are DStv BoxOffice and DStv Catch-Up, both available to users of the DStv Explora. BoxOffice is an online movie rental service through which DStv Premium and Compact Plus subscribers as well as anyone with access to a broadband Internet connection could rent movies from a vast array new releases and classic blockbusters. The movies, selectable from a playlist of 20 and replenished as new ones become available, can be viewed as many times as possible within a 48-hour rental window for which they stay on the Personal Video Recorder. The delivery of the service through a television set eliminates the data bills accruable from online use. The service also offers opportunities of watching a trailer before rental, a rewind, pause and forward. The other service, DStv Catch Up, allows Premium subscribers to stream or download over 600 titles of television series, movies, sporting highlights, children's programmes, magazine and actuality shows on iPhones, iPads and PVRs. DStv Catch Up offers a vast range of entertainment and sporting content to Premium subscribers, which they could watch and re-watch countless times for a period as long as seven days-at no extra cost. The biggest impediment to VoD's is the lack of a network infrastructure that can handle large amounts of data required by video.

Dear LIB readers; my dad told me to limit the way I spend on my wife Posted: 19 Jul 2015 06:06 AM PDT From a male LIB reader I went to visit my dad recently and what he told me shocked me. He told me that I should limit the way I spend money on my wife simply because each time she visits him or goes out with our less than two years old baby, she goes with a taxi. And my dad thinks it should not be happening, that she should be taking public bus and that it's unnecessary luxury. As in WTF!? How can he even say that? I quickly cut him that yes my wife can take a bus but not when she's with our child and if I can afford it, why not? So what will now happen if I buy her a car? Seriously this is just selfish.

After killing his wife following a police high speed chase on Thursday, she then turned the gun on herself. According to reports, Buster 56, had been dating Lisa for many years and promised her marriage. On that fateful Wednesday morning, Buster told police Lisa came to his job after she found out he was going on vacation with his wife. He confirmed the trip to Lisa who left in anger. He said he never imagined she would do something like this so he didn't call the police. An angry Lisa left Barnett's place of employment and headed to his home in Ellenwood where Sandra was alone. Sandra was on the phone with a friend when Brown showed up at the house. The friend said she heard what sounded like a struggle before the call ended and so immediately told a friend to go check on Sandra. By the time the man got to the man, Sandra's car was in the driveway so he thought nothing was wrong. But by this time, Lisa had kidnapped Sandra in her SUV - a dodge Durango owned by Buster. Carroll County authorities spotted the Dodge Durango on Thursday and began a chase on Interstate 20 that spanned into Alabama. Alabama State Patrol troopers joined in when the chase crossed state lines. The Durango suddenly stopped in the middle of the interstate. At that point, authorities said Brown shot Sandra Barnett and turned the gun on herself. The kidnapping appeared to be premeditated as the police uncovered a set of handcuffs and some receipts. Buster is not suspected of any crime or plotting with Lisa to murder his wife.

Buhari will probe Jonathan's government - Presidency Posted: 19 Jul 2015 04:18 AM PDT In an interview with Vanguard, presidential media adviser Femi Adeshina confirmed that president Buhari is planning to probe the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan He (Buhari) has said it that money in billions of dollars will be recovered. But you know the world is too small a place for anybody to hide if you are running from justice. You will be fished out. So, there is no need that you say they should not be heading for jail if eventually the law goes after them. Very few countries can they hide in and how long will they hide? So, it doesn't mean that anybody that has ill gotten wealth will not regurgitate it. They will. Remember when he went to Germany for the G7 summit, he met with President Obama and Obama told him to just give us information on where the loot is hidden and we will help you recover it and the government has been working on that. So, that shows that looters will never go free" he saidAsked if Buhari plans to probe administrations before GEJ, Adeshina said "He can't afford to go too deep into the past or else it will be destructive for his administration. There are some things you can't close your eyes to while you don't want to shine the torchlight into the dark recesses of our past; immediate past where things are evident. The Yoruba have a saying that the corpse we buried, the leg is sticking out and, if you bury a corpse and the leg is sticking out, you can't pretend. When there are trails all over of the monies in billions and trillions, then a responsible government can't close its eyes to that.
