Akinremi received the threat mail in May after his visit to Adamawa state to investigate the plight of Internally Displaced Persons and the activities of the sect in the state. Akinremi afterwards wrote a piece titled, Why Boko Haram don't deserve our amnesty?. "We have seen your hand against us . Inshallah you will die like other infidels that we captured. You have been joining our enemies. You are made yourself their mouth [sic] but we will get you insha Allah. This is a holy mission for Allah, so stop writing against us. "You're going too Michika calling yourself a brave journalist, but you're a coward. We will get you. Its your government that talks amnesty, we are not looking for amnesty. Allah is with us. You're now a walking dead and a prey to the Lions of Islam from the bullet of a passing car or a nearby rooftop. "We are not asking you to repent, because of your error, we will use your blood to send warning to others. Those people from America and Europe that are using you against our mission will soon know the truth. Our wounded fighters will never give up. they will return to fight for Allah to get their reward. Your soldier will soon know the truth."

Increased BH attacks: Nigerians wanted change, they must live with the consequences - FFK Posted: 07 Jul 2015 12:52 PM PDT Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode says he is not surprised by the increased spate of Boko Haram attacks in Nigeria. He said Nigerians wanted change and they have gotten it and must now live with it. He shared his thoughts on the issues happening in Nigeria in a piece he posted on his Facebook page this evening. See that after the cut... Anyone that honestly believed that a man who secretly shares the same vision and core principles of Boko Haram and who spent many years defending them can do anything but give them a free hand when he comes to power is living in cuckoo land. I am not surprised by all the recent bombings and killings. I am not surprised by the resurgence of BH and their new found barbarity, courage and zeal. Military checkpoints have been removed from our roads so what do you expect? Boko Haram suspects are now being kept in prisons in the eastern part of the country in order to ''spread the word'' and no less than 182 Boko Haram suspects were released on the Presidents orders just a few days ago. Is all this just a coincidence or is something that is dark and sinister now afoot in our country? Whatever each of us may or may not believe, one thing is clear- that Boko Haram now have powerful friends and secret allies right at the epicenter of power and those friends and allies are running the affairs of the country. There is a much wider picture unfolding here which the Nigerian people have yet to see and which they find difficult to accept, understand or comprehend. There is a hideous and frightful hidden agenda which is slowly manifesting before our very eyes. Though we warned them, the Nigerian people wanted "change" so they must live with the consequences of their choice. One of those consequences is the new-found audacity, courage, growing power and rising strength of Boko Haram. Another is the resurgence of a clearly ethnic agenda which is designed to leave no-one in doubt about who really owns Nigeria and who the slaves are. Another is the destruction and demystification of Bola Tinubu and his yoruba loyalists by his erstwhile northern allies in the APC. Only a fool did not see that one coming and I am rather surprised that Tinubu's followers are now crying foul and alleging that there is a northern conspiracy. Didnt they know that before? Were they not warned over and over again? There are many other grave consequences which the Nigerian people will witness, in a most harrowing and frightful manner, in the next few months and years. May God deliver our people and our nation and may we learn to make the right choices.

TB Joshua returns Tithe again! (photos) Posted: 07 Jul 2015 11:57 AM PDT This article was written by freelance journalist Ihechukwu Njoku, who brings you juicy reports on activities of TB Joshua and the Synagogue church...:-). Read his latest report below... After the widely publicized story of Nigerian Pastor TB Joshua returning an elderly woman's tithe, another video has surfaced showing the cleric's unique action was not an isolated one. "On 5th June, my wife died," Ezekiel Ayodeji from Ondo State, Nigeria, lamented, three young children standing beside him. He was shoddily dressed, clearly malnourished and physically challenged – one of his legs being almost half the size of the other. "One week later to that time, the shop where I was selling electrical parts burnt down completely in a fire," he painfully continued, the congregation at The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) listening solemnly. "When this problem arose, my landlord gave me a quit notice. They then sent my children out of the school. I am suffering; I don't have food." Pastor T.B. Joshua paused sombrely before addressing the church. "These are the people that make your money useless… Money becomes a curse when we are not spending it on the needy." He then announced he would give Ezekiel N300,000 coupled with six bags of rice and the promise of scholarships for his three children. The clip posted by Emmanuel TV's YouTube channel fast-forwards one week to show the same man sharing his 'testimony'. "After the man of God gave me the money, the first thing I did was to go to my church in Akure and paid tithe to my pastor – N30,000," he recounted. "I then paid off my debts. With the remaining money, I bought a plot of land worth N150,000. I am here to thank God!" Joshua then released a bombshell. "Well, I disagree with the pastor that collected N30,000," he said, much to the surprise of the crowd. "I am going to return that money back to you because there are many areas you can render your service to the ministry but financially, you are not strong." The cleric went on to explain, "He will still pay tithes but not now – he should invest the money and start something. When he starts something, he can begin to pay tithe." Joshua instructed that N30,000 be returned to Ezekiel, further advising him to backtrack on his decision to purchase land, stating the time had not come for such measures. The clip ended with Joshua presenting a brand new car to Ayodeji, purchased by an Emmanuel TV partner and specifically adjusted to enable him to drive despite his physical disability. "I never expected this at all," Ezekiel shouted. "I thank God – I am now the owner of a car!" Ihechukwu Njoku, a freelance journalist, wrote from Lagos, Nigeria

Dear LIB readers: Be careful who you are in a relationship with.. Posted: 07 Jul 2015 09:32 AM PDT From a female LIB reader At a very young age people used to call me "the richest student". I am very industrious and before I clocked 20 years, I was a millionaire and could afford most things that my mates couldn't afford. Fast forward to a couple of years, I graduated from university and starting working in the financial sector and also a business on the side which was another source of income. I became involved with a guy in 2013 and boy.... he was a stunner and I fell hopelessly in love with him. However, all of a sudden I realized that I was always broke, my accounts were in reds. I BECAME A RICH BROKE ASS, i would beg my sister to send money to me for lunch, i cried one day when i couldnt use the P.O.S to pay for my food as i cant withdraw less than 1k using the ATM, my friends didn't understand why i couldn't pay for their aso-ebi or follow them on trips abroad. However, i realized that every time my guy and i took a break, business becomes lucrative and i had money but when we get back together then i became broke again, at first i thought this was my imagination but it happened so often that i decided we should break up. Sweetheart, we have broken up for few weeks now and you wont believe how much i have been smiling financially, it feels like magic, you wont believe the things that have happened in these few weeks. Guyz/Ladies, please review the people you are dating and see if your life has been better or worst since you started dating them, all of you that think you are dating humans not knowing that you have been dating antelopes. LOLZ I found out that my ex was a dog and maybe through his numerous escapades he might have inflicted this upon himself because even his finances is a story for another day

Chief of Army staff, Lt Gen Kenneth Minimah reassures Nigerians of security Posted: 07 Jul 2015 08:15 AM PDT Press statement from Defence Headquarters The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Kenneth Minimah has reassured Nigerians of continued security in the country despite pocket of attacks in some parts of the North East. He made this re-assurance during the interdenominational church service to mark the Nigerian Army Day Celebrations 2015 at the All Saints Protestant Church Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja. He noted that Nigerian Army has made considerable success in all efforts to contain insurgency in the country "I want to reassure Nigerians that we are fighting terrorism. We need a little more time and with the support of the citizenry, it will be over as quickly as possible. The Army has made considerable success in all efforts to contain insurgency in the country". He noted that this time last year, the military were losing equipments, territories, troops and personnel but it is the reverse now. The terrorists are rather on the run, degraded and have resorted to all acts that are designed to coax, intimidate and cause disaffection in the minds of the people as to the reality of their existence. General Minimah concluded. Special prayers were offered for the Nigerian Armed Forces In the well attended event by senior officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces, members of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA), the Nigerian Police and other Para-military Services as well as members of the public. In his sermon, the Director of Nigerian Army Catholic Chaplaincy, Reverend Father (Colonel) Charles Iroegbu described the fight against insurgency as not just a physical war but a spiritual war and therefore charged all Christians to pray without ceasing for peace to reign in Nigeria. He called on the members of the Armed Forces to work together to ensure victory and gain the confidence of the civil populace.
Why Programmes Are Repeated On Pay-TV Posted: 07 Jul 2015 08:12 AM PDT Around the world, pay-TV audiences sometimes complain about programme re-runs, preferring to be served fresh content every time. Legitimate preference. But it is the nature of pay-TV that programmes are re-run. In an era of 24-hour programming, multichannel and multimedia broadcast, it is impossible not to repeat TV content. A major reason is that costs associated with pay-TV content are so huge that subscribers will be unable to pay if fresh content were to be served every time. Content, it bears repeating, is acquired by pay-TV companies at very huge costs from the producers and owners. It also costs a king's ransom to produce. For a pay-TV company to continually show fresh content, the cost has to be borne by somebody: the subscriber. Movie content, for example, is produced in huge quantities by movie industries worldwide, with Hollywood, Nollywood and Bollywood accounting for the greatest number of productions. Movie content, or any content for that matter, takes time to produce. Movies, in particular, are often first shown in cinemas before being broadcast on other platforms, through which producers earn additional income. Content owners, like the big TV networks, allow their content to be distributed by pay-TV companies only of successful exposing them on other platforms like the Cinemas, video on demand (like the DStv BoxOffice) and DVD. This strategy is financially viable only when enough episodes of a television programme are produced to make the series valuable to distributors through syndication. The re-run system, particularly as it supports syndication, has become the economic foundation on which the TV industry does business. Deficit from production can only be recouped if the programmes goes into syndication. It is only when a programme is sold into syndication that the profits to owners are likely to be huge and sufficient to pay off the cost of financing of original original productions and to support the development of other programmes. The entire system is dependent on a sufficient market for re-run programmes, a market composed of independent television stations, international television systems and on an economical means of reproduction. Without re-runs, pay-TV companies will have to buy tonnes of content to keep up with the demand of fresh content. Can they afford to pay? Certainly not. Is there enough time to produce enough programmes to fill the 24/7 requirements of modern television? Very unlikely. Re-runs and repeats are not used merely to ease production schedules and cut costs. They are also a product of contractual agreements between content owners and pay-TV companies. During contractual negotiations, content owners often demand from pay-TV companies that their content be broadcast, say 10 times, at peak viewing periods and less frequently at other times. This means that the control over how many times TV content is shown is shared with the owners and not pay-TV companies, which are merely content vendors. Movie content producers specify the number of times their films are shown when negotiating with pay-TV companies. Going against such agreements will certainly spell breach of contract. It will also put a defaulting pay-TV company in the bad books of a content creator. And if a top-notch content creator withholds its content from the pay-TV company, the latter is at a big risk of losing subscribers. Aside from this, programme re-runs are actually necessary for TV because one person's repeat is another person's chance to watch. Since occupational and social demands make it impossible for everyone to watch TV at the same time, programme re-runs afford those unable to watch at a certain time the opportunity of catching up on their favourite content. They also serve the purpose of those who may want to want to re- watch. Even in these days of video-on-demand (VOD) services and Value Added Services like DSTV Catch-up, repeated content still has its place. Not everyone uses VOD or DSTV Catch-Up, meaning that many have to depend on re-runs to watch their favourite content if they are not available when it is first broadcast. And for kids' programming, research has shown that repetition has positive implications for education by providing optimal comprehensibility and audience retention. In the early days of television, most programming was live. This required the continuous production of new programmes which, once aired, were gone. Certain program formats, such as variety, talk, public affairs, quiz, sports, and drama were dominant on the airwaves. With the exception of variety and drama, each of these formats is inexpensive to produce, therefore the creation of live weekly or daily episodes worked well for broadcasters. Television at the time was not a 24 hour event. But the nature of television like everything else has changed. The financial and logistical demands for twenty four hour programming has made program re- runs unavoidable.
