NUT ask teachers to ignore September 22nd resumption date

Posted: 16 Sep 2014 12:41 PM PDT

Minister of Health has said there's no single confirmed case of Ebola in Nigeria currently and it's safe for primary and secondary schools to resume but the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, is not convinced. Today September 16th, NUT directed its members to ignore the Sept. 22nd resumption date of schools in Nigeria.

Speaking today to journalists in Abuja, the NUT National President, Comrade Micheal Olukoya, said teachers should only resume if the government provides them with necessary preventive & protective gadgets on Ebola virus. Continue...

NUT president Olukoya said;
"Where the federal government insists on the 22nd September, 2014, date in spite of the wise counsel, the union will rather direct teachers to resume schools whenever they are sufficiently trained and their schools have been provided with the necessary preventive and protective gadgets. For the avoidance of doubt, the teachers have this day, resolved to resume classes in obedience to the federal government directive, in states where teachers have been trained to handle any outbreak and all the required preventive and protective gadgets such as hand gloves, sanitizers, infra-red thermometers, running water and soaps have been provided as directed by federal government of Nigeria. In states where the training has not been done and necessary safeguarding gadgets not provided, teachers shall continue to remain at home until their state governments respond positively or the union directs them to the contrary".

Ayo Oritsejafor admits ownership of cash-stacked jet seized in SA

Posted: 16 Sep 2014 12:08 PM PDT

Yesterday there were reports that a private jet was seized and two Nigerians were being investigated for trying to smuggling $9.3 million in cash into South Africa (read here). It turns out that the private jet the money was found in belongs to the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN president, Ayo Oritsejafor via a company he co-owns, Eagle Air. But in a statement released today, Pastor Oritsejafor said he had leased the jet to another company so had no control over the use of the jet.
"On behalf of Pastor Oritsejafor, we can confirm that although he holds an interest in Eagle Air, the aircraft in question is not operated by Pastor Oritsejafor. The aircraft was leased to, and is operated by Green Coast Produce Limited since August 2" a statement from the church read.
Green Coast Produce Limited then released a statement saying that the aircraft was hired by one John Ishyaku and therefore they can't be liable for any alleged infractions either in Nigeria or South Africa after the hire.
"On the 5th of September 2014 the aircraft was hired from us by a John Ishyaku. The charter to John Ishyaku was upon the following documented terms: (a) Depart Abuja-Johannesburg on the 5th of September 2014 (b) Return to Abuja on the 6th of September 2014 (c) To wait and return with the passengers. All cargoes were accompanied by passenger who could readily defend the contents. We are not and cannot be privy to any alleged extraneous cargo transported on the aircraft other than that declared in the agreed terms of hire. We are not liable and cannot be construed as a party to any alleged infractions, either in Nigeria or South Africa as he case may be, after the hire of the aircraft." the company said.
The  private jet carrying the money, allegedly meant for buying weapons, landed at Lanseria International Airport, Johannesburg on September 5. The money was loaded in three suitcases but attracted suspicion when the suitcases were scanned. The money and the jet have been seized by SA customs pending investigation.

Iggy Azalea's ex claims she gave him permission to sell their sex tape

Posted: 16 Sep 2014 08:27 AM PDT

Iggy Azalea's former boyfriend/manager who is shopping their sex tape now claims the rapper signed her rights away to him, giving him legal authority to market the tape.

According to TMZ, the ex, Hefe Wine (pictured right) said Iggy signed a lengthy agreement with him in 2009 which gives him exclusive rights to 'manufacture, sell, distribute and advertise 'any' recording embodying visual images. And TMZ has obtained the document. Continue to see the document...

From TMZ
Iggy signed the contract to cut records and music videos, but Wine believes all he has to do is put a music bed under the sex tape which he claims would then give him exclusive rights to sell it.
In other words, he believes Iggy has no legal ability to block a sex tape if he wants to sell it.
What's more ... the contract provides that Wine has the legal right to create, host and maintain a website to market Iggy's works, so he believes he could create a website which would host the video

Goldberg Benefits From Osun Osogbo Festival Sponsorship

Posted: 16 Sep 2014 07:28 AM PDT

The partnership between most sought after beer brand, Goldberg lager, manufactured by Nigerian Breweries Plc. & the popular Osun Osogbo festival may be yielding bountiful benefits for the brand.

Goldberg, which identifies with the tradition of the people, was the official beer of the 2014 edition of the Osun Osogbo festival.

The role of the beer brand, which contributed to the success of this year's edition of the festival, received commendations from the chief cultural custodian and traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty, Oba JimohOyetunjiOlanipekunLarooye II, the Ataoja of Osogboland.
He spoke at the official commissioning of the 21-day Goldberg beer village, which was built by the brand as part of its support towards the success of the Osun Osogbo Festival. The Ataoja of Osogbo was represented at the event by Chief Emmanuel Ojo, the IketaBalogun of Osogboland who also headed the Osun Osogbo festival committee. Other distinguished guests who were part of the traditional ruler's entourage at the event were Alhaji Yusuf Folorunsho, Secretary of the festival and Ayo Olumokun the Chief Festival Consultant.

Chief Emmanuel Ojo, on behalf of the traditional ruler, appreciated Nigerian Breweries Plc. for the company's continued support and prayed that the Goldberg brand would continue to soar in sales
Mr. Joseph Bodunrin, Regional Business Manager, Nigerian Breweries Plc., also spoke at the official commissioning of Goldberg's beer village. He announced that the beer brand's market share has continued to rise as a result of its affiliation with the festival, regarded as one of the most prominent celebrations of culture and heritage in Western Nigeria.

The Regional Business Manager said: "Goldberg's market share has continued to increase in Osogbo and its environs and we attribute this to the brand's sponsorship of this great festival."
According to him, Goldberg became one of the brands of Nigerian Breweries Plc., after the company acquired another brewing company; adding that the Osun Oshogbo festival was identified as one of the as one of the platforms to market the product.
Mr. Bodunrin added: "I am proud to say that Goldberg has been widely accepted by the people of Osun even though this is only the second year of Goldberg's sponsorship of Osun Osogbo festival. Goldberg took over sponsorship from another beer brand from the Nigerian Breweries Plc. stable. The influence of the Osun Osogbo festival transcends the Osun people as it attracts tourists from the different countries of the world. We believe that with this, Goldberg's popularity will even soar among the citizens of the various nationalities that visit Osogbo during the period of the festival."
Bodunrin also thanked the retailers of Nigerian Breweries products as well as the consumers; whom he described as the back bone of the company.
Visitors to the Goldberg beer village were treated to the best of indigenous music as fuji acts like St. Janet, a popular Fuji musician and Antenna, the inaugural winner of the 'Fuji To Bad'Goldberg activation entertained them.
Some lucky consumers of the beer brand also carted home exciting gifts courtesy of raffle draws conducted by Goldberg to reward them for patronage. Some of the gift items which were won via a raffle draw were TV sets, home theatres, generators, bags of rice, among others.
The highlight of the celebrations of 2014 edition of the Osun Osogbo Festival was the procession to the Osun Grove.
Though Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the executive governor of Osun State was unavoidably absent, he sent in a goodwill message. He described the festival as the mother of all festivals which draws crowds from all over the world thereby placing the state on the global tourism and cultural map.
He said: "What we are celebrating is an integral part of our culture and our culture defines who we are. Osun Osogbo is also our flagship tourist attraction. Coupled with the Osun Grove, which is already a UNESCO heritage site, we are firmly planted in the tourism map of the world. We have been working to develop other tourist sites in the state and we now have a master plan. We intend to develop it and make tourism one of the planks of economic development in the state. Our greater plan is to bring at least one million Yorubas in the Diaspora to attend the Osun Osogbo festival every year. This will generate jobs in tour guides, accommodation, arts and crafts and construction, among others."
In his address, Oba JimohOyetunjiOlanipekunLarooye II, the Ataoja of Osogboland said: "The Osun Osogbo Festival has continued to endear itself to many people across the globe and has been adjudged as the only festival that has consistently witnessed the largest turnout of visitors and participants among all known festivals in Nigeria. It is one of the festivals that has made it possible to meet old friends and relations who normally come together to felicitate the Osogbo community."
He also thanked the state government forits support for the festival through the construction of a permanent and befitting presentation pavilion; encouragement of many visitors to participate in the festival through the provision of free rail transportation to and from Lagos State and beautification of the grove; among other activities.

Graphic pics: Generator fumes kill man, wife & 3 children in Ikorodu

Posted: 16 Sep 2014 06:27 AM PDT

Generator fumes has killed a man, his wife and all his 3 children in Ipoyewa community of Ikorodu, Lagos. The bodies of the family was discovered by neighbours last Friday September 12th in their home. All five suffocated to death after inhaling fumes from a generator which they'd kept in their room. According to neighbours, the man bought the generator just two days before the unfortunate incident and was afraid it will be stolen if left outside so he kept it inside his 2-room apartment.

When the family failed to come out late Friday morning, a neighbour peeped through their window, saw bodies, and alerted others. They broke down the door to discover the horror. And when I say horror, I mean horror. The photos are really graphic so please be warned.

Residents of the community are blaming the family's deaths on lack of power in the area. They claim the last time they had light was 3 years ago, that every house in the area uses a generator. They said they have called on the government many times to help them with light but their efforts have yielded no fruit. See the pics after the cut.. *warning - graphic content*

People need to be educated about the dangers of generator fumes...

3 scorned girlfriends turn up at airport to confront boyfriend after discovering he cheated on them all

Posted: 16 Sep 2014 06:04 AM PDT

20 year old Charlie Fisher (pictured right) who had been cheating with three young women, 17 year old Becky Connery (pictured left), 19 year old Lizzie Leeland-Cunningham (center), and another 20 year old girl who didn't want to be named, was embarrassed at the airport by all three women when he flew home from holiday. According to Becky, when all three of them found out he'd been dating them for more than six months and was cheating on them with the other, they teamed up and decided to teach him a lesson.

The girls stormed the airport as Charlie was returning from a holiday and started shouting 'Liar Liar' at him.

Becky told how she found out that the man she was in love with was cheating on her - and how she and his other girlfriends decided to have the last laugh.

She told UK Daily Mail:
'I'd known Charlie for three years but started seeing him in March, and early on we had the conversation that we weren't seeing anyone else, that we were exclusive. I was in love with him, and he said he was in love with me, but I had my suspicions from the start.
He was very protective of his phone, he wouldn't let me put pictures of me and him on social networks, he deleted comments I made about us - looking back, he was very shady.'
Becky said she was at Charlie's house the night before he traveled on holiday and saw a message from a girl on his phone saying 'I will meet you later'.

She said it instantly made her suspicious as he'd asked her to go home early that night as he had to finish his packing.
'Charlie caught me and we had a row - I asked who this girl was and he said she was just a friend.'
After Charlie traveled, Becky found the girl who sent the text on twitter
'I told her we were both seeing the same person and she wasn't surprised - she had been with him since January, and had always had her suspicions'

The two girls then met and discovered there was a third girl, Lizzie Leeland-Cunningham, 19 and made contact with her through Facebook.

Lizzie had been dating Mr Fisher since meeting him on Facebook in April. She said;
'He was a real charmer and had a real way with words - he knew how to say the right thing at the right time. But what I didn't realise was that when he was going off to see his friend 'Chris', he was actually seeing one of the other girls.  He did it to them, too, saying he was going to see 'Harry' when he was seeing me.
'I suggested as a joke that we should all go to the airport to meet him.  The other two said "Yes, good idea" straightaway, so we met on Saturday morning and went to the airport together.'
As Mr Fisher came out through customs, all three girls called his name. Becky said:
'He froze and looked at us.  He said: "Why are you here?  Why would you do this? We were like "Are you joking?"
"I said to him: "I can't believe how you could be like this for seven months."'
Lizzie said: 'He came out of customs and saw all of us and his face just dropped. We said we wanted to talk to him, and he said "Can't I talk to you later?" and we said no, we wanted to talk to him now.

I said to him "Don't you have anything to say to us?"'.

Charlie headed towards the car park with his grandmother, who had come to collect him, but the girls continued to berate him, stopping only to explain what their grievance was to his grandmother.
'She just shrugged and said "OK" when we told her why we were angry', Becky said.
Becky put a picture of the girls at the airport on Twitter, with the caption: 'Just been at the airport to meet my cheating boyfriend...' and was celebrated as a hero by Twitter users, who said: 'This is awesome - you go, girl.'

Now the girls, who say they're happy to have ousted him from their lives, have forged firm friendships with each other.
'They're great - I'm seeing both of them for nights out soon,' said Becky.  'We can't think what we saw in Charlie in the first place.
'I'm so glad we confronted him - it's not the 16th century any more - girls don't have to put up with this.'

Boko Haram reportedly abduct men and women in Adamawa state

Posted: 16 Sep 2014 04:01 AM PDT

Daily Trust is reporting that about 50 men and women were abducted after an attack on Gulak community in Adamawa state on Saturday September 13th.

The residents of the community reportedly confirmed that the attack took place and people, including married women were loaded into trucks and taken away.

Musa Uba, a resident of Husra village in Michika LGA which is one of the villages that came under heavy attack said able-bodied young men were forcefully converted into the sect after recruitment efforts through preaching failed to attract volunteers.
"They conducted preaching sessions to attract converts to their sect but people only listened out of fear. The next day they asked if anybody wanted to join them but there was no response, so they selected many healthy looking young men and ordered them to follow them. One of the victims is my relative who did body building exercises regularly," he said.

'Why I like to expose my cleavage" singer Emma Nyra explains

Posted: 16 Sep 2014 02:53 AM PDT

In an interview with Encomium magazine this week, singer Emma Nyra explained why she likes to show off her cleavage. Which young lady doesn't? Lol. Her response below...
"It's not that I flaunt them but part of your selling point as a female artist is your body, your voice, your look, your hair, everything. Chidinma's lack of hair is her selling point, you understand. Each part of you is your selling point"
Asked why she flashes the boobs even though they are not big, Emma responded;
"Its confidence, you understand. Somebody like Toolz for example, her selling point is her body. Before her voice, it's her body. As a woman, her own packaging is always different. I have grown up to be comfortable with the way the skin is because I have accepted the fact that I can't change it, I have to accept the way I am. Men don't look at me, the women look at women. If I go out with or without makeup, a man will not notice. But if I go out and I see a woman, she will say Emma Nyra you are looking different from how I see you on TV. She would comment on everything to my eyebrow but a man won't look that deep unless he is into fashion and everything. I have learnt to accept myself. If you are not confident about yourself, people won't buy your brand" she said
On her opinion on bleaching, Emma said;
"I grew up with white people and I noticed that white people tan. They wanted to look like me whereas I wanted to look like them while growing up because I wanted to belong. This bleaching thing, Indians do it too, even Americans do it too. Its been so bad lately because the society's perception of beauty has to do with it. The lighter the better, whereas, in Europe, the darker the better. Dark hair, dark skin, its a kind of class. That's how they do their own class system. Our own is just, we have grown up watching aunties bleach. When I fist came to Nigeria, I went to a store and I couldn't find a regular cream, all I saw was whitening. I went to Dubai, the same thing. Indians and Arabs, they bleach. I am more concerned with clear skin, not light or dark or whatever because I grew up seeing girls wanting to be dark. So it didn't affect me that way. I don't support bleaching, I don't think it's right. Some people wear padded bra, some where padded bum. As a woman, you can choose whatever you want. You can change your nose, your breast, anything. But as for bleaching, because of the long term effect, I don't think it's good for you"

The 12 soldiers who attacked their GOC in Maiduguri have been sentenced to death

Posted: 16 Sep 2014 03:23 AM PDT

13 out of the 18 soldiers standing trial for participating in the mutiny (revolt action) against their General Officer Commanding, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Mohammed at the newly created 7 Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri on May 12th have been sentenced to death by a military court that sat in Abuja yesterday night September 15th.

Five others were discharged and acquitted while one was jailed for 28 days with hard labor. Choi, they should temper justice with mercy biko o. Continue

The soldiers had on May 14th revolted against poor remuneration and lack of sophisticated weapons to fight Boko Haram. On that particular day, the soldiers lost their cool after seeing the corpse of some of their colleagues killed by Boko Haram men. They immediately opened fire on their GOC, who luckily escaped unhurt.

The President of the Court Martial (military court), Maj. Gen. C.C. Okonkwo, while delivering his judgement said the 12 soldiers were found guilty of criminal conspiracy, mutiny, attempt to commit murder (shooting at the vehicle of the GOC); insubordination to a particular order; insubordination and false accusation.
Those sentenced are Jasper Braidolor, David Musa, Friday Onuh, Yusuf Shuaibu, Igonmu Emmanuel, Andrew Ugbede, Nurudeen Ahmed, Ifeanyi Alukagba, Alao Samuel, Amadi Chukwuma, Alan Linus, and Stephen Clement.

The legal team of the convicts pleaded with the court martial to be lenient and temper justice with mercy stating that some of the men convicted were the sole providers of their families. One of the convict is said to be the only child of his 80 year old mother while another is said to be the father of a 5-month old baby. The legal team argued that giving them maximum sentence would do more harm than good, adding that it would increase the agony of their dependants.

Other members of the court are: Col. TS Nurseman, Col. TO Olowomeye, Col. IG Lassa, Lt.Col. JK Feboke, Lt. Col. CR Nnebeife, Major I Yusuf, Major TA Yakubu and Major AE Martins.
Lt. Col. AA Audu and Lt. Col. U Ukpe served as prosecutors.

Lamboginny & Clay take Ebola awareness campaign to the Snake Island

Posted: 16 Sep 2014 01:15 AM PDT

Surge Entertainment signee "Lamboginny' and fast rising rap artiste "Clay", took the reality in their recent musical collaboration #Broken to the field on Saturday morning in a secluded rural community of Nanti village popularly referred to as the Snake Island in Lagos. See all the photos after the cut....

It was indeed a day to remember in September for the Nanti villagers who trooped out in style with their Baale to receive the music stars who were on hand with the Nigerian Red cross as they provided the remote community with a life saving awareness on personal hygiene and environment sanitization. In an attempt to combat the spread of the deadly virus called Ebola, the duo of Lamboginny and Clay understood the need to tackle it from the rural area and so doing they picked the people of Nanti ahead of other communities.

Apart from the fact that free hygiene materials were distributed, medical experts were also on ground to deliver adequate and explicit lecture on the virus and how to maintain a clean hand and safety environment.
The august event was put together by Lamboginny and Clay, and supported by Jevinik Restaurants, tho Clay was not present in person but sent his love to the community members.
See below more pictures from the event and however, you could still send in your recommendations for the full scholarship offered by the duo of Lamboginny and Clay on a PRY and a SEC School student. Yay! Finally bought my brand new 2014 Range Rover (see photos)

Posted: 16 Sep 2014 04:36 AM PDT

Yay! My dad finally gave me permission to buy the 2014 Range Rover and I'm beyond happy. I've wanted this car for so long but he was against me buying it. But it's my birthday this Friday and he finally agreed that I could buy it for myself as a birthday present.

So he and I went to a car company in Victoria Island yesterday and bought this brand new 2014 Range Rover Sport Supercharged. I bought it for N24million. Yeah, I know! Its a lot of money to spend on a car but I've been wanting this car since it came out...so...lol. But I swear I've been feeling so guilty since I bought it. I keep telling myself 'do you know how many lives you would have changed with N24million?" A lot, I know...but my life is important too na, abi? Lol.

Anyway, to make myself feel better, the September LIB giveaway will be bigger than ever...and I'm more determined now to start my #I'dratherbeselfmade campaign where I will mentor and help some young girls start their own businesses. Anyway continue to see more photos...

And yep, I still have my other cars...my 2008 Toyota Camry and 2011 Infinity FX 35. #Biggirlthingz. lol.

Now there's something I want to say to all the young girls reading this. There's absolutely nothing wrong with a man buying you things, but always remember that if you believe in yourselves and your dreams, you work hard and stay focused, there's absolutely nothing you can't buy for yourself. I'm not only buying myself cars that I want, I'm in the process of buying my own house, with my own money.

I made it on my own, in my own way and on my own terms. If anybody ever tells you that the only way you can make it in life is by laying on your back, the person lied to you. You don't have to do that. You shouldn't do that. You are strong, you are brave, you have been blessed with a talent, find yourself, believe in yourself, push yourself...and never give up. No money is sweeter than your own money, trust me. You can do it. Yes, you! You can do it. Just be patient, pay attention and work your butt off.

It's not easy trust me...if you think I had success overnight, you thought wrong. November this year will make it eight years that I've been blogging. Every single day! Before then I was a model, I was a model manager, I was an events planner, I was a columnist, I wrote a book, then I became a blogger. I put my hands in so many things because I was determined to make it in life. Finally one paid off - blogging.

I'm not better than you, if I can make it, so can you! Just never think the only option you have is men. YOU are an option and once you go to God and tell Him what you want to do and He sees that you are serious, He will lead you, He will guide you and He will make all your dreams come true.

Think about it, the people who are successful in life don't have two heads. Why can't you be one of them? You really can be. It's up to you.

Finally, I will soon start my 'I Will Rather Be Self Made' campaign where I will mentor young girls and also help some of you start your own small scale businesses by financing it...so look out for that. I will make an announcement on this soon.

Alright guys, going to bed. Cheers and thanks for everything. YOU guys changed my life. Thank you

I know he's her dad and they are supposed to look alike but the resemblance sometimes just hits me! She's his splitting image.
