Update: Unreponsive U.S plane in Cuban airspace crashes off Jamaica

Posted: 05 Sep 2014 12:11 PM PDT

A 7-seat private plane that took off from Rochester, New York this morning and heading to Staples, Florida, is currently flying over Cuban airspace with the plane occupants not responding to attempts to communicate.

CNN reports that two fighter jets trailed the plane, which is a Socata TBM-700 light business and utility aircraft, but stopped when it crossed over into Cuban territory.

Spokesman for the North American Aerospace Defense Command said the plane's windows were frosted and it is unclear how much fuel is left. The plane is said to have been flying unresponsive for some time.

NORAD has reached out to Cuban authorities and now Cuban fighter jets are trailing the small plane which took off from NY about five hours ago. Cuba is currently not looking at the plane as a threat.

Update: the plane is now approaching Jamaican airspace. It is believed that the pilot is no longer in control of the plane, that the plane is on auto-pilot. They also don't know how many passengers are on-board.

According to FAA, the small plane crashed off the coast of Jamaica. It crashed in the water.
Two U.S fighters reported that the aircraft's pilot was 'slumped over'

Leader of terrorist group al-Shabaab killed in U.S airstrike in Somalia

Posted: 05 Sep 2014 11:40 AM PDT

The Somali prime minister said on Friday that Ahmed Godane, head of the Islamist militant group al Shabaab, was killed in a U.S. strike on Monday, although the group that is waging an insurgency against the government has yet to comment.

U.S. officials had said on Wednesday that they were still checking to see whether Monday's U.S. missile strike on an al Shabaab encampment had killed Godane, who was appointed leader in 2008 after his predecessor was killed in a U.S. attack.
"We tell the Somalis that Godane is dead," Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed said on his Facebook page, the first government confirmation of his death. (Reuters)

FG denies hiring Stephen Davis as Boko Haram negotiator

Posted: 05 Sep 2014 09:13 AM PDT

These people like to confuse Nigerians sha. How will someone claim he was hired to do a job by a government if that is not so? FG has denied claims by Australian hostage negotiator, Stephen Davis, that he was hired by the Nigerian Government to negotiate for the release of Chibok girls.

Speaking through the Coordinator of the National Information Center, Mr Mike Omeri, today Sept. 5th in Abuja, FG said the decision to hire a negotiator would be made public whenever they decide to do so and that they have no plans to question those alleged to be Boko Haram sponsors by Stephen Davis
"For now nobody has been hired by the government to negotiate on its behalf with Boko Haram. Anytime the government decides to do so, it will make it known to the public. The government is still investigating the allegations made by the alleged negotiator. However, the government has no plan to question anybody because of those allegations made by the Australian," Omeiri stated.

Ignorance Is No Bliss by CharlyBoy

Posted: 05 Sep 2014 08:24 AM PDT

Article written by Charly Boy. Read below...
Oh God! Why was I born in this neck of the woods? See how low my country has sank, demeaning our value as human beings, destroying our image as greed and corruption destroys everything we hold sacred. See how it drives the youths crazily into the uncertain life of crime, dispossessing the creative and talented youths of their dreams and discrediting their imagination. Haba, God, why? As Nigerians, what are we really good for? Were we born to be haunted and taunted?"
I don't know what drives us but were we created to be a sub. Like you
create two versions of something and see which one would thrive more
in the habitat it would be placed. It seems the Africans (Nigerians)
are failing the test and soon would be wiped out from existence. Why
have we remained a consumer nation, can't even produce nothing, even
the few who can are not encouraged.

We are so backward it troubles me. Even if the western world were to
wait for us for another hundred years, at this rate we will likely not
meet up. Because as a people and as a nation, we lack focus, we are so
consumed by greed that all we know how to do is compete among
ourselves in this endless corruption that we fail to see the bigger
picture.

We are obviously operating a failed political system, educational
system and whatever comes to mind. A country where literates are so
myopic and shallow minded. We are still living in the era of people
believing more in witches and wizard and do not believe in working
towards a bright future. A kill and go system that does not really
care for its people. From our so called riffraff in leadership, we are
told to be patient and always pray for good luck. Can our country
really be run by good luck?

We are so myopic that when we are confronted with one problem we talk
about it until another problem arises; we forget the old unsolved one
and begin to rant about the new problem.  It was "bring back our
girls", now is Ebola here Ebola there. Even people with PHD were
bathing with salt water, Maggi and pepper. Lol

What is so bad is that we claim to have produced both academic and
medical doctors and yet we can't possibly find any solution to this
bloody virus. We are begging the United States for the unapproved
serum which will not be given until 2015. We have labs that can't
carry out experiments because the labs don't have the required to
function well. Are our doctors even capable? On the media you hear
different stories of what's going on while we are shielded from the
truth.

We refuse to develop ourselves so we live at the mercy of others. We
claim we are the giant of Africa but there is little or nothing we can
do for other smaller African countries. How can we, when we have not
been able to do anything for ourselves.

We always think our ignorance is an excuse to the way we live and what
happens to us, is it actually ignorance or stupidity? Our ignorance
will not deliver us and it is no excuse to whatever happens to us.

Are we not supposed to be responsible for ourselves? Are we going to
keep depending on other nations for our security and safety?

Where is our pride as a people and as individuals? We get mouth but we
no get anything. People weh get mouth na people weh get evidence of
substance. Sometimes you don't have to speak, what you have created
speaks for you.

Until we realize that our problems are beyond rants, curses and
prayers, then can we be a step towards finding a solution.

Except we want to be proved as a failed state/race would we remain in
this pathetic state of existence. I'm sure I'm not the only one who
knows that in Africa we are just existing and not living. The world
has since evolved. Abegi.

'Go ahead and sue me' - Australian negotiator tells Alimodu Sheriff

Posted: 05 Sep 2014 06:44 AM PDT

Australian negotiator Stephen Davis has dared former Borno state governor, Alimodu Sheriff to sue him for saying he's one of the sponsors of Boko Haram. Mr Sheriff had threatened to sue at a press conference on Wednesday.

Speaking with TheCable today, Davis said if Alimodu Sheriff goes to court, evidences to prove he has connections with the sect will be produced.
"He is worried, is he? He knows that if he goes to court, the evidence will be produced and he cannot escape justice. Let him go to court if that is what he wishes. It is his right to do so. He will not be able to avoid close examination and then the facts will be known. Good luck to him if he decides to sue me in Australia. He can't buy the judges here. Truth is not for sale. Australia has zero toleration for those who might sponsor terrorism." Continue...
No one should be above the law whether in Australia or Nigeria. Justice must be served for every Nigerian killed, every girl and boy kidnapped, every girl raped, every person who has lost their home in the course of this violence. It seems to me the extent of involvement of every person named by Boko Haram as a sponsor should be closely and thoroughly examined by the correct authorities. I read his defence on the media this week. Rather than come out as a statement of facts, it read like a novel of unconvincing fiction. In the last 48 hours, I have been in touch with some commanders of the group and they maintain their stand on Sheriff's involvement. Sheriff's ploy of casting himself as a victim is a poor attempt at disguising his sponsorship as alleged by the Boko Haram commanders." he said

Floyd Mayweather's ex-fiancee suing him for assault, battery and defamation

Posted: 05 Sep 2014 06:17 AM PDT

Floyd Mayweather's ex-fiancee Shantel Jackson (pictured above with her lawyer, Gloria Allred at a press conference yesterday) is suing the boxing champ for assault, battery, defamation, invasion of privacy, false imprisonment, and claimed he forced her to return her engagement ring at gun-point…

From TMZ
According to the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ Sports, Jackson claims Floyd first got violent with her back in 2012 ... right after he was released from the slammer in a domestic violence case involving another woman. Jackson claims the two were arguing when "He twisted [her] arm, choked her and forcibly took her phone away from her to look through it.". Continue...
Jackson claims Mayweather got violent again in April 2013 ... when during another argument, he "bent her arm, restrained her, and pointed a gun at her foot, asking 'Which toe do you want me to shoot?'"
In her suit, Jackson claims he then demanded her to remove her 17 carat diamond engagement ring at gunpoint.
Jackson also claims Mayweather invaded her privacy when he posted photos of her sonogram on social media -- and claimed the "real" reason they broke up is because she "killed our twin babies."
There's more ... Jackson claims Mayweather struck again in Feb. 2014 at his condo at the Ritz in L.A. Shantel claims she was trying to leave following yet another argument -- when Floyd grabbed her by the arm and dragged her back inside. She claims Floyd blocked her from leaving for more than an hour.
At the press conference, Shantel said
"There was a point in my relationship with Floyd that I thought we would be together forever. I loved him so much and I made sure that I took care of him the best I knew how.
I tried my best to make our relationship work by compromising and going to relationship counseling, but I finally realized that there was no hope and our relationship could not continue.
I loved Floyd deeply but he continued to disappoint and intentionally hurt me. I have been embarrassed and humiliated more than I can ever imagine by Floyd whom I once called my best friend and fiancé.
I have tried everything that I could and I have given Floyd every opportunity to do the right thing. Unfortunately, he has refused every opportunity to make things right. It is with a heavy heart that I finally realized that the only way to set the record straight to achieve justice for what he has done to me is through the filing of this lawsuit.

Dear LIB readers: How do I land an old rich man?

Posted: 05 Sep 2014 05:46 AM PDT

From a female LIB reader
Ever since I was 15 years old I've always dreamt of being rich. My goal has always been to get married to a rich old man that would take care of me and my family.
I'm 28 years old now‎, nothing!
People say I'm not that attractive, that only pretty light skinned girls can accomplish that goal. So if I'm not fine I can't get a rich man? I've refused to work or do anything because I believe God will make me fulfil this dream‎. I just don't know how to get these men to be interested in me. The one that recently got engaged is not more attractive than I am so what's my problem? Please help me.
It's kinda sad how some young girls tend to focus on what men can do for them instead of what they can do for themselves. Any advise for this lady?
