Xenophobia: South African writes a touching story about his friend from Congo

Posted: 20 Apr 2015 12:54 PM PDT

This South African man, Sbonelo Mbatha (left) took to his Facebook page to tell a heartwarming story about his friend from Democratic Republic of Congo who lives in South Africa. His post has over 38,000 likes and shared more than 10,000 times. Read what he wrote below...
This is my friend from DRC. He washes my car every time when I go to the gym and charges me R50. Even when I forget to lock the car, I'd never loose a cent when he is there! He pays R120 a day to hire the wash machine and sometimes looses his money when the weather turns rainy. He has 2 little girls with his wife, they both go to primary school.
He washes an average of 5 cars per day (5xR50=R250) - R120 = R130, buys food for R30, netts R100 per day on average. This guy survives on R2800, give or take per month. He pays rental and has kids to support. He took nobody's job! Any South African who wants to do his job is most welcomed! Stop killing them and abusing them, some are making an honest living under extremely difficult situations. #Stopxenophobia
Thank you sir! God bless you. More South Africans need to speak out!

So, it's either Nicki is hiding her engagement to Meek Mill from her mother (who told Bossip last week that Nicki isn't engaged) or Nicki really isn't engaged. But she climbed the stage last night during Drake's performance at Coachella rocking her ring and Drake congratulated her and hugged her. I guess time will tell. But I think they are engaged...whether they will marry is another thing.

Nigerian Home buyers flood Atlanta Housing Market

Posted: 20 Apr 2015 09:12 AM PDT

Nigerian homebuyers are flooding the Atlanta housing market and paying top dollar. Within the last few years, the state of Georgia's housing market has successfully attracted international investors especially from China and Australia; however, one company, Lux Property Investment Group (LPIG) is reporting remarkable success in sales to homebuyers from Nigeria since the end of last year, 2014. Could the high US Dollar to Nigerian Naira exchange rate be a reason for the sudden increase?

Atlanta is well known as an epitome of homes of superb architecture. More positive factors are the reason why Nigerians, like other international home buyers are now more interested in exploring Atlanta's housing market.

The city of Atlanta is home to the World's Busiest Airport and Top Fortune 500 companies such as; UPS, CNN, Delta Airlines, Coca Cola, AT & T, AFLAC, etc. Atlanta is the Number One Rental market in the U.S. (Forbes Magazine) it is considered the fourth best city in the U.S. to invest in (CNN Money). It is one of the least costly cities in the U.S. to do business and considered the Premier growth city in South Eastern U.S. Most Atlanta homes are priced below market Value; hence, a homebuyer can build instant Equity. There is always a waiting list of tenants, so Tenant Placement is guaranteed.

The tenancy laws highly favor landlords. It assures High ROI with guaranteed security of investment. Themarket favors "all cash" purchases. Atlanta has a great mix of renowned colleges and universities. You will typically pay less for a four bedroom single detached family home in Atlanta than you would for the same of its kind in Lekki, Lagos.

Gone are the days when Nigerians used to think that the process of buying a home in the U.S. was rigorous and impossible because of costs!

Lux Property Investment Group is an Atlanta based Real Estate Company that connects International Home buyers to U.S. Properties. They act mainly as an International "cash" home buyer's Agent. Technology enhances the entire buying process with or without you being physically present. They have closed several deals via a combination of phone calls, videos, online applications, Skype chats, Facetime and pictures. All official ownership documents are transmitted to you in original form.

Houses are sold at reasonably low prices while the returns are predicted to appreciate within the next few years. "We have two categories of Nigerian clients, the Nigerian investor who intends to purchase a house at an average of $150,000 (#30million naira) and earn around $800 (#160K naira) or more on a monthly basis as rental income, the second category are high net worth individuals looking to splash their cash on Luxurious homes in anticipation of gaining equity from property value appreciation, these homes are in the average $1m (#200million naira) range", says Mr. Adesina Adeyemi, a Managing Partner at LPIG. The Company also has its own "in-house" Property Management team, interior décor team as well as a Property rehabilitation service to help with "after purchase" services which most clients indulge and rate highly. LPIG is fully registered and recognized with the Corporate Affairs Commission in Nigeria. The entire home buying experience has been simplified by Lux Property Investment Group.

More than half of the company's patronage comes from "word of mouth referral" and half of the home buyers have never visited the U.S. They also help with the procurement of Luxury automobile and heavy equipment such as; excavators, cranes and caterpillars.

To get started with our professional service in helping a client secure property, simply fill out the "Contact Us"
section of our website, call us directly via the contact number on the website, or via Blackberry Messenger. As easy as

Xenophobia: Human Rights Group barricade MTN office in Edo, threaten to shut down South African businesses in Nigeria

Posted: 20 Apr 2015 09:01 AM PDT

Human Rights group under the aegis of 'The Flagship' today barricaded the MTN office in Benin city, Edo state during a protest over the current Xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The group called on the South African government to immediately resolve the issues or they will shut down South African businesses here in Nigeria.

Brandishing various placards with inscription "Xenophobia is ‎inhuman', 'Zuma, call your boys to order' and 'S/Africans can't be making money from us, killing us', the group condemned the attacks and described it as inhuman.

Addressing the press during the protest, the Spokesperson for the group, Austin Enabulele said
"We are all Africans; we wonder why they should attack our fellow Nigerians who are doing their legitimate business in South Africa, when we have shown them love to operate in Nigeria. We have come here to say to (President Jacob) Zuma to call his people to order(caution them) because if he fails to call them to order(caution them) we will do the needful. We are aware of all their business in Nigeria; we know of MTN; we know of Shoprite; we know of Multichoice company and we know of every other companies that belong to South Africa. We will shut down all their services if they continue the killing of our brothers and sisters. So, we have come here to tell them to put an end to the killing of our brothers and sisters, who are doing their legitimate jobs in South Africa."

'I still insist that Buhari has no WASCE certificate' - Doyin Okupe

Posted: 20 Apr 2015 08:46 AM PDT

The presidential aide shared this on his Facebook page. Read below...
These are very interesting times in our nation. An election has come and gone. A victor has emerged and the loser has conceded. Yet some of our folks are behaving as if we have just gone through a war between two hostile nations. Apc agents all over the place are unrelenting in their tirades of abuses, insults and lies against President Jonathan, his aides and supporters.
It is shameful that we are still saddled with denying falsehood & fabrications in the social media and even hither to highly respected Newspapers. Missing $20b found in an account in zenith. PGEJ returns tons of dollars to federation accounts. N2trillion spent on elections by PGEJ. Okupe says chibok girls will not be found.
How many lies, deliberate falsehood and evil propaganda, outright curses and attacks must we suffer just because we lost an election in which we were never disgraced.
Buhari polled 15m(56%) while Jonathan scored 12m (46%)
Those who talk to us disparagingly should respect the sentiments of the 12 million who voted for Jonathan.

Of course we have our reservations about the results but we will pass on that for now.
We have lost this election but this is not and can never be a crime. We are all Nigerians and haven lost does not make us less. We should be allowed to bow out peacefully and constitutionally on the 29th of May.

Yes I said buhari was not electable. I also said his victory will not happen. I said and I Still insist that buhari has no WAS certificate. I said a lot of things to promote my candidate and many things to put his opponent down.

I have no regrets for any of the statements I made. Law Mohammed said worse. This is the nature of politics. For any one who cares to listen. We will be back Period.

Popular photographer Obi Somto sends weird memo to models

Posted: 20 Apr 2015 07:15 AM PDT

You know they say very creative people can be weird. A model just drew my attention to something popular photographer Obi Somto posted on his instagram page and I found it a little cray cray lol.

Obi has photographed quite a number of models in the nude, and it looks some of them think he wants to sleep with them. This is like a disclaimer from him. Read what he posted below...
It's no secret that I'm a very sexual person, I'm also very upfront and straight, and most passionate about my photography. My passion and love for photography trumps my desire for sex any day any time! I'm sharing this cause I've had several convos with several girls who have thought I wanted to f**k them! This is primarily because of the way I talk about my photography and of cause the known fact that I am very sexual!
Some of these girls have been bold enough to tell me they're not going to f**k me, some just keep their assumptions to themselves and back out. Thing is they are all assumptions and they're in your head! If I want to f**k you be rest assured I'll tell you, you wouldn't be uncertain about it, you would know for sure! You see ehn, I'm not generally sexually attracted to the model body type, as much as I don't have a type but I prefer to have my girls little, please what will I do with all those Long model limbs?
Sha sha sha, in the rare occurrence in which I'd want to f**k you and photograph you, I would tell you and try to f**k you! Like I said, rare occurrence, and it means I want to f**k you more than I want to photograph you, I'm sorry, but this is my reality, it's who I am and I'm not ashamed nor apologizing for who I am.

I've seen/photographed more naked girls than I will ever f**k. My mummy's couch has laid more girls than I will ever lay. That's okay, I'm not jealous, I'm happy with the balance… D**k with standards uno, lol. I'm yet to f**k anyone I've photographed, maybe I will someday, maybe I'll never. It's ok. If I want to f**k you though, I will let you know! Have that in mind…

The Common Case of Damian Vongcir a book of fiction by Uyi Eguavoen

Posted: 20 Apr 2015 06:49 AM PDT

From the lens of ordinary human experiences, through the day to day realities of work, family and personal life, author Uyi Eguavoen tells a truly revealing, captivating and riveting Nigerian story with an enthralling title 'The Common Case of Damian Vongcir'.

Set in the modern day Nigeria, the book reveals the tough working culture of the Nigerian banking industry - the expectations and unending targets, the tension and insecurity, the greed and corporate interest.

The story employed common human elements of choice and chance, friendship and tragedy, love and marriage, strength and weakness, pursuit and disappointment, self-discovery and fulfillment in telling the tale of a banker who is tangled in the chase of corporate success as he struggles with the burdens of his job, the weight of his fears and choices, and his commitment to his young family.

With the full benefit of a six digit salary and the love and respect of all his bosses, Damian Vongcir was convinced he has found his path and true happiness as a banker until a single twist changed everything.
…all bankers, good or bad, are heroes as much as they meet the boss's expectation. They are like soldiers walking with the faith of preachers. They count on luck and miracles in an ungracious world where they are more likely to be defeated than victorious, and when they reach that bend where their star fails, they receive no mercy. It's a type of treachery that is as heinous as the betrayal of friends and the infidelity of wives. But still they must ignore all the odds and fight on, waiting for heavenly grace for new miracles just to stay alive.
It was the truth that led him to an inevitable choice; a choice between work and family, his fears and his happiness.
In this book, Uyi Eguavoen tactfully deployed wit and candour to present a captivating and unique work of fiction in a manner rarely explored by other Nigerian writers. THE COMMON CASE OF DAMIAN VONGCIR is a classic piece of contemporary prose which exposes the daily struggles of the urban working class in the conscious, and often times unconscious search for that elusive balance between self and ambition, work and family. The experiences of Damian Vongcir serves as a veritable parallel in the lives of millions of people all over the world and therefore a clear mirror through which real life people can view their own actions and choices.
Uyi Eguavoen is a graduate of Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Benin. THE COMMON CASE OF DAMIAN VONGCIR is his first novel.

Xenophobia: See camp where over 1,000 displaced people are now staying in SA

Posted: 20 Apr 2015 06:37 AM PDT

Here are some photos from the Internally Displaced refugees camp with 1000 people, including a lot of small children and pregnant women who up until recently had their own homes but now are forced to live in these tents in this camp in dowtown Johannesburg in an area called Germiston which also was center for a lot of Xenophobic attacks.

The camp, housing displaced immigrants from all over Africa including Nigeria, was set up about a week ago next to the Primrose Hill Police station, on Poppy Rd, Germiston to prevent further attacks

Founder of Health PR and Catwalk the World Peace campaigns in South Africa, Matthew Mensah, was there recently to deliver food. See the photos he sent to LIB after the cut...

"Next Saturday I'm going again with a group of other volunteers we call 'United 247' .. Especially other West Africans living in the unaffected and plush areas in Joburg should come out and support our fellow Africans who have lost all their belongings due to these Xenophobia attacks. The SA winter has started so its becoming very cold in the evening so blankets, clothes and any food that can be spared are highly welcomed." Matthew said
Anyone that wants to join can contact me or see updates via IG @matthewmensah

Below are other photos of volunteers helping to distribute food at the camp.
