Hilarious! Female Sec School student brings her mum & siblings to fight a teacher in Abia (photos) Posted: 10 Jun 2015 12:51 PM PDT Facebook user, Nwaokoma Thomas Izuchukwu recounts a hilarious, but somewhat shameful story about a female secondary school student who brought her family to her school to fight her teacher. But how can a mother pack her children to fight and beat up a teacher? His account bellow. 'On Monday at Ozar secondary school, Asa in Ukwa West LGA of Abia State when a student who was sent home by a teacher Mrs Njoku to barb her hair, regrouped with her mother and elder siblings to attack teachers and students. The JSS two student,Precious Nwadike had earlier been warned by same teacher two weeks ago to barb her hair but she did not heed to the warning. On arrival to school on Monday, the student was asked to go home to get her haircut. She left immediately only to return two hours later with the mother and four of her siblings who marched straight to the staff room and commanded the teachers to come out. Furthermore, the mother of the student, Mrs Nwadike held a teacher, pulled her cloth & ordered the sons to cut her hair. The intervention of another teacher, Mrs Osuagwu provoked the sons and one of them, Uche almost strangled her. But the quick intervention of students, led to a free for all fight in which Mrs Nwadike and children were fully prepared.' According to Izuchukwu Nwaokoma, it took the intervention of an annoymous youth corp member currently serving in the school who alerted military personnel to come to the rescue. 'Their quick arrival calmed the situation and doused the tension. Mrs Nwadike and children were arrested and taken to Obehie police station, Asa.The Principal of the school, Mrs F.N Nwachukwu took both the wounded students and teachers to the nearest Health Center for treatment. Sanctioning Saraki/Dogara: Lai Mohammed says party is in a dilemma Posted: 10 Jun 2015 12:19 PM PDT The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Lai Mohammed says the party is currently in a dilemma in regards to carrying out its planned sanction on their party members, Senator Bukola Saraki and Hon Yakubu Dogara for presenting themselves for elections at the National Assembly against the party's wish. While speaking on Channels TV this morning, Lai Mohammed said there have been reservations expressed by some people that the party might lose its majority in the house to the PDP if they do not manage the situation properly "Yes people have expressed that concern but how do you maintain cohesion and discipline in the country and the same time ensure that you continue to maintain the majority in the house. Now what happens if this goes unpunished and unquestioned, then anybody in the party can do what they like. So this is the dilemma the party is facing. The dilemma within the party is how on one hand we ensure cohesion and discipline within the party and the same time ensure that the matter does not deteriorate. The real danger the party faces now is having the leadership of the national assembly which you cannot call your own. The leadership of the national assembly that does not share your agenda. The leadership that does no share your vision. If you understand how the National Assembly works and the kind of power the leadership has, you will understand the danger of what happened yesterday. For instance today, we can no longer talk about having leadership caucus in the National Assembly today because the leadership is made up of both the PDP and the APC. So there is nothing personal to APC that can be discussed in confidence without the PDP knowing. It means if a letter goes to the President to the Senate, it means it will go to the leadership of the PDP, APC, everybody even before our own members read it. It is quite a serious issue"he said. Asked if the party can afford to suspend Saraki and Dogara, he said "The party can afford to do anything to maintain discipline" He explained why the party described the actions of Saraki and Dogara as treachery
On why the meeting with President Buhari and members of the APC which was supposed to resolve all issues between party members before the National Assembly leadership election did not hold as expected at the International Conference Center Abuja yesterday June 9th, he said

APC not well equipped to handle the affairs of government at the center- PDP Posted: 10 Jun 2015 12:07 PM PDT The Publicity Secretary of PDP, Olisa Metuh says the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki and Hon. Yakubu Dogara as the new leaders of the National Assembly which is against their party wishes, signifies that APC is not well equipped to handle the affairs of government at the center. In the statement he released today June 10th, Mr Metuh said the APC is only suffering from the greed, lust for power and inordinate ambitions of the party's leaders. "The crass inexperience so far displayed by the APC is a pointer that it is not adequately equipped to handle the affairs of government at the center. Nothing can be more astonishing than the whining by the APC that the PDP at the last minute expressed its preference for Saraki and Dogara as Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives respectively, after it had earlier stated that it was not interested in the positions. This calls to question the capacity, experience and skills of APC leaders on political matters and we have no apology whatsoever for their naivety. The APC is merely suffering the consequences of the greed, lust for power and inordinate ambitions of their leaders. They should note that Nigerians have since moved ahead with the new leaders in the National Assembly and stop wasting their energy on propaganda and blackmails to heat up the polity."he said

Court temporarily blocks release of 'Angola 3' inmate Posted: 10 Jun 2015 11:50 AM PDT A federal appeals court has temporarily blocked the release of Albert Woodfox, the last of the Louisiana inmates dubbed the Angola 3 by supporters protesting their long stints in solitary confinement. Tuesday's order came a day after a U.S. district judge said Woodfox should be released immediately and that the state cannot try him again for the killing of a prison guard. His two previous convictions were overturned. Woodfox has long maintained his innocence in that death in 1972, when inmates were protesting conditions inside the Louisiana State Penitentiary. Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell is appealing the judge's order, saying Woodfox is a killer who should remain locked up. The appeals court order blocks the release of Woodfox until at least Friday. Woodfox and Herman Wallace were accused in the 1972 killing of guard Brent Miller at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola. A third inmate, Robert King, was linked to Miller's death but never charged. The group became known as the "Angola 3," and the case has been a cause celebre for years, with activists arguing there is no evidence tying the three men to the crime and decrying the decades they each spent in solitary confinement. Woodfox -- who was originally imprisoned on an armed robbery conviction has said he had tried to point out injustices at the prison, including instances of segregation, corruption and rape, and was targeted and wrongfully accused because of his activism as a Black Panther. King was freed after his conviction in the killing of a fellow inmate was overturned in 2001. The same went for Herman Wallace, who was released in 2013 after a judge vacated his murder conviction and sentence. He only experienced a few days of freedom; he was suffering from terminal liver cancer and died just days later. A federal appeals court overturned Woodfox's conviction last year. But he has remained behind bars and is awaiting a third trial.

Thai parents cryonically freeze their 3 year old daughter in hopes she may live again Posted: 10 Jun 2015 11:30 AM PDT If all goes according to plan, a little Thai girl nicknamed Einz who is now dead will some day read this sentence. That plan, however, requires incredible faith in technological advancements. Elinz's body has been cremated and all that remains is her head - which is now filled with medical-grade antifreeze and stored in a vault in Arizona. Einz, whose formal name is Matheryn Naovaratpong, died from an aggressive strain of brain cancer on January 8th n Bangkok. She was nearly 3 years old. Two Alcor representatives one a retired neurosurgeon were on standby to perform a "field cryoprotection," which involved injecting her with medical-grade antifreeze and lowering her body temperature to around 80 degrees Celsius below zero. The family didn't just observe this graphic procedure. They participated. "The (neurosurgeon) said, 'Anyone who wants to go should go now,'" says Dararat. "All of us stayed. They said, 'Really? You're not afraid?'"
Einz's head was not separated from her body until it reached the foundation's facilities in Arizona. Transporting corpses is somewhat common; ferrying severed heads tends to draw suspicion from customs agents. "If you send only a head, you may run into problems," Sahatorn says. "The officer at the X-ray machine may say, 'Oh no, a human head!" Her death would have unfolded as a private tragedy had her parents not made a profound choice. They decided that Einz would become the youngest human and one of very few Asians to undergo cryonic preservation. "We believe death can be overcome in the future," says Sahatorn, the girl's 41-year-old father. "Human beings are seeing technology increasing exponentially. It just doubles, doubles, doubles. If our computer systems proceed like this, they'll double their abilities minute by minute. That would allow us to solve the world's biggest problems." This sentiment will be familiar to anyone versed in the theory of the "Singularity," a postulated era of dazzling possibility that adherents believe will be ushered in by explosive scientific breakthroughs in the coming decades. This belief in exponential scientific achievement, steadily gaining adherents in the West, is embraced by Einz's parents. Both Sahatorn and his wife, Nareerat, hold doctorates in electronics engineering. And both share the view — as do believers in the Singularity — that mortality is a problem science can fix. That faith compelled the grieving engineers to build a capsule for their recently deceased daughter that could regulate her body's temperature during the long shipment to the U.S. (There are no cryonic facilities in Asia.) Einz was collected by the U.S.-based The goal, as worded by Alcor, is to "save lives by using temperatures so cold that a person beyond help by today's medicine might be preserved for decades or centuries Both of Einz's parents intend to cryo-preserve their bodies. But if the odds of Einz's revival are slim, the odds that all three can be successfully revived and reunited are even slimmer. "Honestly, it will be hard to see her again," Sahatorn says. "The probability is very low." Einz's parents also hold out hope that life extension breakthroughs will keep them alive long enough to witness their daughter's revival. "If I don't die in the next 30 years, maybe we'll meet again," he says, "That's how long it might take for science to figure out how to rejuvenate an old man and extend his life." Tinubu’s political career is coming to a sunset - Bode George Posted: 10 Jun 2015 11:25 AM PDT A former Deputy Chairman of PDP, Chief Bode George says the emergence of Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara as new Senate President and Speaker House of Representatives indicates that Bola Tinubu's career politically is coming to a sunset. "You know I predicted weeks ago that the APC is just a congregation of strange bedfellows. The most beautiful thing about what has happened is that Bola Tinubu's political influence in Nigeria is coming to a sunset and it is about five minutes to midnight for him. If he cannot see this now, then it will be foolish of him. He brought in the APC national chairman and the vice-president and he thinks Nigeria belongs to him. So, he thought what he did in Lagos was what he could replicate at the national level and they have shown him that he cannot continue to be the lord of the manor. So, if he is wise, he will slow down. President Muhammadu Buhari, as an army general, has fought more battles than him and has an understanding of things.
