Life after sexual abuse - A LIB reader shares her story Posted: 18 Oct 2014 08:13 AM PDT A LIB reader shares how she struggled to deal with and get over sexual abuse which she suffered as a child from family and friends. Please read below... I am living proof that anyone can turn things around. From a nadir of emotions in which I struggled with abuse and resentment, I have willed myself to focus on the strength I possess and the fact that I alone can determine how my life turns out. My father was a business man, and my mother a full house wife. Her whole life was dedicated to taking care of us and protecting us and she was in fact overprotective of us because we were all girls. But I have now realized over the years that you cannot always be there for a child, and no one has control over an abuse. My sexual abuse started when I was about six years old and on it went until I was about eleven, most of it coming from friends and family folks who were meant to have protected me. I never talked to anyone about it because right from childhood I was used to keeping things to myself and I was ashamed. For a very long time I did not want to be alive because of my scars. I was always angry at everything and anyone who couldn't relate to the fact that I was angry at life even if I never did tell anyone anything. I had to struggle with pain, rejection, depression, hate, anger and unforgiveness. The first 19 years of my life until my healing were the most challenging. I let my abuse mould me into someone I could never be proud of. It was a deep cut. It was easy to blame everything I was on my experience as a bitter person and give excuses for it. To an extent, my abuse was the reason to be the way I was; but I had a choice to either play by the rules and blame it on society or restart my life and start thinking differently. After all my bad experiences and all the struggles I had going on in my life, I looked at my life and came to the conclusion that I was a total failure. I focused on my weaknesses. Even when I had the courage to do something, I often expected it not to turn out well, so I never tried. I had the mind of a failure, I had the attitude of a failure and so I failed at virtually everything. THIS IS MY TESTIMONY I found comfort in GOD'S LOVE & PEACE and I was consoled by HIS PROMISES for my life. I started by forgiving myself. All my life since my healing I had made myself pay for someone else's mistake. I realised that true forgiveness comes from within - the ability to forgive myself enough for me and the abusers was enough for me to finally see the light. I accepted myself and embraced my scars and fears. I couldn't change a thing about what had happened so I stopped worrying about it. I stopped seeing myself as the victim but as the MESSAGE. I had not the slightest idea of why those things had happened but knew it was part of God's plan for my life and I am thankful that he chose me to fight this fight. I found myself; I strongly believed in myself and everything I stood for. I started focusing on my strength and gradually my life began to take a new turn. I set realistic goals for myself, discovered my purpose and followed my most intense obsessions mercilessly. Getting over my abuse was a huge step but it was a stepping stone into getting over other issues in my life. My abuse had laid the foundation of strength and power. I am at a very good place in my life right now and there is no turning back. I have a beautiful life - one I am proud of. Regardless of what I have been through, I will end up with the most amazing man, have wonderful children, build a great life and live happily ever after. Message to the world: If there is anyone out there still struggling with the trauma of sexual abuse, I need you to take a deep breath, Take all the time you need to heal, Seek God desperately and find him, And ultimately save yourself, you need you. There is a promising, beautiful life waiting for you to come get it. Halima Layeni.

About Samklef, Wizkid said; "He was in my house two weeks ago...we were always together, I really don't understand what's going on here, but it's all love. I've got love for Samklef all day. Confessions of an alleged Nigerian serial killer, says he's killed over 60 people Posted: 18 Oct 2014 05:13 AM PDT 33yr old cultist, Alawunmi Oluwafemi claims to have killed over 60 people as the immortal assassin of the Aye Fraternity. The most wanted man in Ogun state, who evaded police for years, was finally captured last week in the ancient city of Ijebu Ode. He was arrested by operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Ogun State police command after a gun battle. Now in police custody, Oluwafemi told The Sun the story of his life as an axe man in the underworld and how he killed more than 60 men and women. You won't believe his story. Read after the cut... Story by Chioma Igbokwe for Saturday Sun The hunt Saturday Sun gathered that the inability to arrest the suspect led to the transfer of several police area commanders out of Ijebu Ode. Disturbed by his exploits, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye directed the SARS team to relocate to Ijebu-Ode and fish Oluwafemi out at all costs. As a result, the team led by SP Mohammed Tijiani eventually succeeded in tracking down 'the big fish' on October 6 during the Ojude Oba festival. According to CP Ikemefuna, members of Oluwafemi's gang put up a resistance and a gun battle ensued. Eventually, he was arrested after he was shot in the leg. "He is not only a cultist but also a serial killer. He has confessed that he had led his gang to kill not less than 60 people", Ikemefuna stated. The police boss, who described the arrest of Oluwafemi as a major breakthrough for the command, accused him of masterminding the spate of cult related killings in Ijebu Igbo and Ijebu Ode axis in the last three months. Subdued, the suspect argued that the police were able to arrest him because his charms, which were always in his pocket, were left at home on the fateful day. "I never knew that anyone will be looking for me on a day like this", he said. Faulty background Just like most criminals, Oluwafemi is from a broken home. The little he could remember of his family was that of chaos which led to the exit of his mother when he was eight years old. "When my mother left, I stayed back with my father and assisted him in the shrine. It was there that I knew how to make potent charms. After his death in the 90s, I moved over to stay with my mother who also died years later. I had no choice but to move over and live with my maternal grandmother who is based in Ondo. She also died few years after I moved in to stay with her. My only alternative was my paternal grandmother who is based in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. It was in her house that I stayed and learnt how to cut wood and was able to secure a job in one of the sawmills. "It was when she died that I knew that I had to survive by all possible means. I was able to get married but when my wife discovered that my lifestyle was not good, she left and followed another man. From that day till sometime in 2009, I have been in and out of different odd jobs just to make ends meet." His initiation In his so-called attempt to survive, Oluwafemi joined bad gangs. "I needed to survive, so I did everything possible. Sometime in 2009, a friend of mine, Ahmed invited me over for a birthday party at Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. At about 8pm, he asked me to escort him to see a friend who was also celebrating his birthday. I was surprised when he started entering a bush close to Olabisi Onabanjo University. I was about to ask him what his friend would be doing there, when some young men emerged from the bush and started beating me up. "They overpowered me and threatened to shoot if I dare to run away. It was then that Ahmed told me that I was actually on my way to participate in the Aye initiation ceremony. There were so many of us who were beaten. They blindfolded us and marched us further into the bush. It was when we finally stopped that I saw the crowd of young men who came for the initiation, most of them were students. They kept beating us and forced us to lie on the floor, while they marched on our bodies. "Later, they brought kolanut and pierced our hands with razor blade. We were forced to eat the kolanut mixed with our blood as a sign of oath-taking. We were given new names and mine was Aye Skyppo. At about 4am, we were handed over to those who brought us to the initiation camp", he narrated. Orientation After initiation, Oluwafemi said he was taken away by his friend who took him to a house where he took his bath and changed his dress. He was then taught some of the things he needed to know as a member of the Aye fraternity cult. "It is known as orientation, where the person who introduced you will tell you the rules and regulations. The first and most important is that if you reveal their secret, you will die. The members of the cult will hunt you down and kill you. I was also taught some of the nicknames used among cult members. For instance, to shoot means to light someone up. If you hear a sentence like, Femi light him up, it means that you should shoot. Gun is known as four, fire as erayo, matchet as meche, freedom as axe, stab as enter, cartridge as red nut." Beginning of bloodbath He claimed that he was advised to secure a gun for his personal safety. "Sometime in 2010, there was a clash between Aye and another cult group known as Eiye. One of our members who was a student was killed, and there was a mandate to hack down anyone who is from Eiye. "I was always going around with a gun, anytime there is crisis. I bought it at a price of N12,500 from Ondo State. This was necessary in case there was any attack. In 2010 during Olabisi Onabanjo University matriculation ceremony, we were assigned to retaliate. As soon as we spotted one Eiye member who was vulnerable, we attacked and stabbed him till the police rescued him. He later died on the way while most of us were arrested and remanded in prison. I was in prison for a year and some months before I was granted bail. The case was later struck out because it was a cultism case and since I had spent sometime in the prison, I was free to go." Back home, Oluwafemi claimed that he wanted to stay completely away from the group but when Ahmed learnt that he was free, he tracked him down. "Ahmed told me that if I stay away from them, I would be endangering my life as the other cult group might come after me since I had already stained my hands with their blood. I had no choice but to go back but I decided to fortify myself. My late father was a native doctor and I have seen him prepare charms for people. All I did was to get the eyelid of a cat, cotton, black and white thread and mixed it with my urine before I dried it up. It was the reason till date, they have not been able to arrest me or kill me. I was arrested this time because I did not come out with the charm, since there was peace among the various cult groups in the area." According to him, he rose in ranks and was named Femi Kuti since all attempts to kill him failed. "I am not making mouth or celebrating my success, you can ask questions. I have been shot at close range severally and stabbed without any injury. This was why they named me Femi Kuti, meaning 'he that cannot be killed'. I impressed them so much that I was later called Badoo. Normally the overall leader of the group must be a student. We that are not undergraduates are still under them but do the main hits. If there is any clash, it is people like us that are contacted to go and kill because we cannot be easily traced. The students, if caught, will be expelled and that is not good because most of them are our sponsors. They are the ones whose duty it is to sponsor the cult, that is why the leader must be a student." Throwing more light on how they managed to initiate students, Oluwafemi said that their targets are normally boys from very rich homes. "They love life and can be found wherever there is a party. You promise them power and security and they will gladly follow you anywhere. Just as I told you, I was lured into the bush because I thought that there was a bigger party there. We do the dirty jobs while they fund the fraternity. Most of them are the ones that are killed because they do not have the experience to protect themselves" Serial killings He admitted that he cannot remember all, but all those that were killed were young men who were members of another cult. "Once there is a clash, they will declare war which means that that I am free to kill. They depended on me so much to deliver whenever there is a clash which is normally paid for with human blood. In 2014, I led the team that killed someone at 911 club at Ijebu-Ode, I gunned down another at Ibadan garage, I also killed one Seun along Benin expressway. I do not know where to start but to ask God to forgive me and give me another chance to live a better life. I know that I have killed more than 60 people but all of them are cultists or unclean people who must have soiled their hands one way or the other. All I want now is for God to forgive me and wash my hands clean of their blood" On how he was arrested, Oluwafemi said he never knew that the person who was calling him on the phone was a policeman. "They tracked me down and lured me out to the open. We were there for the Ojude Oba festival which is supposed to be peaceful. Although my boys tried their best to protect me, they were overpowered by the police who later handcuffed me. The truth is that I did not come out with my charm and besides, if there was any problem among cult members, I will not come out in the open." On how he has survived till now, he said since his parents and grandparents were deceased, he has chosen the path of crime because he cannot be engaged in anything meaningful. "I started selling hard drugs especially the one known as Skunk which is stronger than cocaine. Among us, it is known as bible because of the shape. I normally buy one at the cost of N15,000, I will grind and wrap it in a paper at N100 per wrap. At the end of the day, I will make about N20,000 gain from each N15,000 bible. I was also sustained by the cult because they knew the importance of having me around them."
Couple having sex in sea become stuck together and have to be separated in hospital Posted: 18 Oct 2014 04:54 AM PDT Hard to believe but that is what Italian media reported this week...lol. An unidentified Italian couple had to be rushed to the hospital this week after their genitals got stuck together while having sex in the sea at Porto San Giorgio in the Marche region of Italy According to Italian newspaper Il Mattino, the man and woman called for help about 30minutes after they went into the sea. A woman walking along the deserted beach heard their call for help and handed them a towel. Other locals went to rescue the embarrassed couple and called an ambulance. It took about an hour for an ambulance to get there and take the couple to the hospital. A doctor was able to free them by administering an injection to dilate the woman's uterus. Doctors later told the press that the man was 'unable to extricate himself from the woman due to suction'.

Photo: 4 Nigerians jailed 14 years total for match.com dating scam Posted: 18 Oct 2014 03:32 AM PDT Four Nigerian men, Monty Emu, Adewunmi Nusi, Emmanuel Oko, and Chukwuka Ugwu (pictured above) have been jailed a total of 14 years for duping single women out of about $350,000. According to the UK Mirror, the four men duped these women after they responded to a false profile of an "attractive middle-aged man" on popular dating site, Match.com. Don't these women learn? Continue...
"They then fell for the conman's story that he was due to receive a £100 million inheritance from his father but that it was tied up by red tape in India. Once the relationship had developed with the fake man, normally called James Richards, the conspirators started requesting cash. At first the women were asked for a £700 legal fee by a fake solicitor but then the sums requested rose to up to £100,000, Winchester Crown Court heard. The trial was told that vulnerable women were conned out of £220,000, with one victim, Suzanne Hardman, handing over £174,000. Some realised it was a scam and did not hand over any cash. Following a three-week trial, Monty Emu, 28, of Frencham Road, Southsea, Hampshire, and Adewunmi Nusi, 37, of Bomford Close, Hermitage, Berkshire, were convicted of money laundering. At the start of the trial, Emmanuel Oko, 30, of Waverley Grove, Southsea, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud and money laundering and Chukwuka Ugwu, 29, of Somers Road, Southsea, admitted money laundering. Oko, who was said by the judge to be at the centre of the conspiracy, was sentenced to eight years' imprisonment for the fraud and four years to run concurrently for the money laundering offence. Emu, who laundered about £55,000 during nine months, was jailed for three and a half years, Ugwu was jailed for 46 weeks and Nusi was imprisoned for 18 months. Sentencing the four men, Judge Susan Evans QC said: "This was a highly sophisticated conspiracy to defraud, it preyed on the trusting, the lonely and the emotionally vulnerable. The amount of planning was, in my view, substantial and would have required a highly organised group of individuals. Some of those females that were targeted were utterly taken in by this cruel scam and the sophistication of the crime means it's unsurprising that some of them were taken in. The hurt and distress you caused them was enormous. It's not even about the loss of the money being at the forefront of this, it's about the emotional hurt you caused them." In a victim impact statement, Ms Hardman, from Basingstoke, said that the fraud had led to her suffering sleepless nights and not eating because of the stress and that she had lost her self-respect. She said: "From the day I reported the incident to the police, I felt very vulnerable and sick to my stomach. As I look back, I felt groomed and that is how I became a victim of this, I wouldn't want anyone else to be a victim of this type of crime. I do feel a duty to warn others, women specifically, of this type of theft over dating websites and the internet. The money itself was to act as a pension and to support my family as I got old, one could say I have lost everything that I had from a 28-year marriage." Sylvia Tai Sen Choy, who lost £11,300 to the scam, said that she had been put on anti-depressants since falling victim and at one point I was too frightened to answer the phone. "All I wanted to do was meet someone so I wasn't on my own, it sickens me that there are people out there who want to prey on people's emotions."

Are you Nigerians for or against the recent Boko Haram ceasefire? Posted: 18 Oct 2014 02:19 AM PDT Let's discuss folks. I've been reading a lot of comments and articles on this matter and it looks like opinions are divided. The Nigerian military yesterday announced a ceasefire with Boko Haram after years of terrorism from the group, which has resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent Nigerians. The ceasefire agreement includes the release of over 200 Chibok girls - which to me is a very welcome development. There are reports that some of these girls will be released to the man who brokered the peace deal, Chadian president, Idriss Deby, sometime next week, to show they (Boko Haram) are serious about the ceasefire agreement with the Nigerian government. But there are those who still think that the government shouldn't have negotiated with these terrorists. After the cut, you will find an article from Dr Perry Brimah of Ends.ng, about why Nigerians should reject these ceasefire deal. As for me, I support peace anytime. Too many innocent people have died unnecessary. But read and tell us if you agree with him... Nigerians Reject Ceasefire With Boko Haram Terrorists; Use The $1bn For War, not #Election2015: #VictoryForNigeria The people of Nigeria vehemently reject the announced ceasefire with Boko Haram terrorists at this last hour as the 2015 presidential election approaches. It defies reason how and why the Nigerian government will debase the collective intelligence and humanity and extinguish the hope of Nigerians by unilaterally agreeing to a so-called ceasefire with rag-tag terrorists who currently occupy several major cities in the north. Bama, Gwoza, Marte, Ngala, Konduga and Dikwa are still under full control of the Boko Haram terrorists. The discussions on freeing the 4 month old abducted girls no longer has any bearing on the process of this war. When entire communities are under Boko Haram governorship, of what significance is the 234 girls? The 234 girls only comes up for global audiences who have not noticed that since the abduction, several Nigerian communities have rather fallen under Boko Haram. The Nigerian leadership must be reminded that the parents of the Chibok girls have already conducted the burial rights of their children and sacrificed them for the greater good of the country as God wishes. Who is fooling who? The desire to have a ceasefire with these hopeless, murderous terrorists who are on the run is treacherous and follows the routine of disgraced ex-general Ihejirika who likewise allowed periods of peace after onslaught on the terrorists to allow them recover and recuperate; while in his hatred for the communities in Nigeria's north, deliberately allowing he terrorists periods to replenish their arms and ammunitions and to forcibly recruit and train thousands of abducted and forcefully conscripted innocent northern children who will again be sacrificed and killed in the next battle with the Nigerian military when war resumes. This fight and cease cycle maintained the genocide of northern youth in the tens of thousands. Nigerians demand fire for fire. We reject any attempt at ceasefire with the terrorists. We decree that the war with Boko Haram continues every day as we declare Boko Haram our mortal, eternal enemies to fight till either of us cease to exist. What does President Jonathan plan to do with the $1 billion he borrowed to "fight Boko Haram" if he is negotiating with them now that we see #VictoryForNigeria in the horizon, and all we need is to continue the brave push by our men in uniform and brave Civilian-JTF? Is the $1 billion for the elections in 2015 as most have suggested? Any negotiation short of full and unconditional surrender of all terrorists is treason and an act of terror participation and sponsorship by the army Chiefs and head of State. There can be no ceasefire with Boko Haram. We the Nigerian people reject any sort of negotiation with these terrorists who have freely caused us unquantifiable pain without mercy for the full 6 years of the Jonathan administration under Ihejirika and now under Maj. Mass failure at Nigerian Law School as over 3,000 students fail bar exam Posted: 18 Oct 2014 01:47 AM PDT Apparently there was mass failure at the Nigerian Law School this year. The Nigerian Law School recently released the 2013/2014 August result, and it was a Tsunami. Out of the 5,000 candidates who registered, only about 2,000 passed. Meaning that about 3,000 students failed the bar exam, the highest failure the Nigerian Law School has witnessed since its 50 years of existence. Many of the students are angry and frustrated. They say they don't believe the mass failure is the fault of the students and are now asking for a review of their results. An affected student who reached out to LIB said; Continue... "People have worked their butt off for this exam, people have ran literally mad for this exam, these same people have invested their life savings for this exam, people who lost their parents prior to this exam had to muster the strength to write this exam and the Director general of the Nigerian law school who is responsible for the this mass failure doesn't see reasons with these people. He said he's raising a standard but all we see is a high standard of failure!"Another student said "Do we say 3000 students payed N300,000 not counting expenses for a year, feeding, books, then prepared to fail? We are calling for a review"

Lol. Etcetera comes for his colleagues in new article, Confessions of an entertainer Posted: 18 Oct 2014 01:23 AM PDT Singer turned columnist Etcetera apparently has no love for most of his colleagues...he's shading the heck out of them in this new article. Lol. He called some of them liars for claiming to have what they don't and he went for Seyi Shay's jugular. Read for yourselves below...
Father, I lied that I was signed by a foreign record label. I also lied that I am a brand ambassador of one of the telecommunication firms. Whereas I was only paid to make the jingle and later feature on the TV commercial. I also lied to the public that my album sold six million copies. My son, why all these lies? Father, I am not the only liar in the industry. We are all liars. Lying is part of the job's description. Are you serious? Yes father, I am being very frank with you. My lies are even mild compared to some of my colleagues. Imagine one female artist lying that she was a backup singer for Mary J Blige. How can she be a backup singer for such an international star and nobody saw any pictures or videos. Normally as an entertainer such materials could have been used to promote her brand. She also lied that she wrote a song for Fantasia that won a grammy. As I am confessing to you, nobody knows the title of the song. There's no credit to her on Fantasia's catalog. A Nigerian singer said all these? Yes father. Her own lies are even small sef. Another female singer lied that Beyonce's father was her manager while she was in the US. No you must be joking! Haba Father, can I be lying to you during confession? My son, as a reverend father in this parish, I have seen so many strange things. When a man is possessed by the devil there's nothing beyond him. And from what you have been saying, there is absolutely nothing beyond you entertainers. But go on, tell God more of these lies of yours. I have lied about buying houses in Lekki and other parts of Lagos. But I thank God that till today no one has thought of looking up these properties at the ministry of lands otherwise I would have been caught pants down. Are you listening father? Yes go on son, the Lord is also listening. Ok, I have been bribing radio presenters for a long time to play my songs. There is this veteran presenter on the island that collects a million naira and two bottles of Jack Daniels and Black label and one box of cuban cigar from me. He also collects hampers and makes you promise to buy him a cake on his birthday. You mean he collects all these just to play a song? Yes father that's what he charges. Jesus Christ of Nazareth, what about those musicians who can't afford to give him these things? Haa! If you can't afford it, then your songs won't be played no matter how good they are. But why haven't you musicians come together and fight people like him? And also, why do you keep bribing them? Is it not the same bribery and corruption you people are always accusing the Nigerian police of? Yes father I totally agree, we are no different from the police. But how can we unite and fight this corruption when Nigerian artists are lily-livered. They all pay these guys and go back grumbling in their bedrooms. And whoever decides to speak up on their behalf will be insulted by the same people he's fighting for. They will accuse you of trying to make things difficult for them. This is really terrible. Yes father it is really terrible. Ok what other confessions do you have for the Lord? But Father, do you think the Lord can forgive me of all these sins? Don't you worry yourself about that, we will pray to Saint Anthony of Padua to intercede for you. Thank you father. Now let me go on. Most times when I see that a song of a particular artist is gaining more popularity than mine, I call on my guys at the radio stations to stop playing it. And do you also pay for this? Of course they won't lift a finger without money changing hands. But don't they see that what you requested of them is wickedness. No father it is not wickedness, we actually call it survival. Ok father, what would you say if I told you that most of our awards are lobbied for? And most of the scandalous news you read on blogs are leaked by entertainers to pull down their rivals? I'd say very interesting. Now let me ask you a question father. Do you believe in juju? Boy I am a man of God and you don't expect me to believe in such. So you mean if I told you that some of us entertainers use juju to excel, would you believe me? Well, I have heard of such allegations, especially with the fuji musicians but these things can't be substantiated. Why do you think they can't be substantiated? What would you make of a musician taking a bottle containing local dry gin, 20 naira notes, cowries, corn seeds and alligator pepper into the vocal booth and sipping from it and chanting inaudible things under his breath while singing? I don't have any answer to that. Just go on with your confession. There are still others waiting to confess their sins. And please can you summarise this confession? Tell me, why do you entertainers indulge in lies and all you have said here today? We entertainers tell so much lies and live fake lives because that's what Nigerians want. They love lies and they will even call you mumu for speaking the truth. And the journalists are also guilty. Asides from being too lazy, I think they are also scared of some of these entertainers. They rather not investigate anything at all. Even when you tell them a blatant lie, they won't bother asking questions. Now we have an industry that is built on lies. And from the look of things, it will stay so for a long time. That is all I have to confess father. Your sins have been forgiven my son. Say the fifteen decades of the rosary and abstain from telling lies from now on. Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. Inomine patri et fili et spiritus sancti. Amen.
