| APC behind fuel scarcity, President Jonathan campaigners allege Posted: 02 Mar 2015 12:26 PM PST  "The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (PDPPCO) yesterday attributed the sudden fuel scarcity in many parts of the country to sabotage by the opposition APC, which has infiltrated the ranks of the fuel marketers. Director of Media and Publicity of the PDPPCO, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, said in a statement in Abuja that the fuel marketers have taken a sub-contract from the opposition to frustrate supplies of petrol to fuel stations as part of a grand plan to create tension in the polity.According to Fani-Kayode, "We know who the fuel marketers are. We know the relationship that exists between one of the biggest fuel marketers and a national leader of the APC. These unconscionable opposition elements infiltrated the ranks of the fuel marketers, whom they have contracted, in a calculated attempt to frustrate the good efforts of government. "Why have they taken this time when all hands are on deck for the March 28 elections to cause this artificial fuel scarcity? The situation is so bad that they are not importing the product. They are even threatening tank farmers not to release any fuel in their depot in order to sustain the shortage. We are aware that the tank farmers have reported the threat to the Police and other security agencies. "This shows how desperate and wicked the opposition APC can be in their quest for presidential power. Must they make Nigerians suffer simply because they want to rule? They must desist from this act of sabotage. "The opposition should not take delight in celebrating over the pains and sufferings of Nigerians as they have continued to do with the Boko Haram attacks on our people and nation. "The APC's penchant to diminish the gallantry of our Armed Forces in the battle to defeat insurgency in the northeast zone whilst mocking the government whenever the insurgents bomb and take over villages in the zone, must be condemned by well-meaning Nigerians. "This predilection exposes and portrays the APC and its leaders as forces of retrogression with a devilish mindset to unleash the worst form of anarchy on the nation before, during and after the March 28 presidential election because they know their party and presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari will be dealt a crushing blow by President Goodluck Jonathan at the polls. "The PDPPCO also wishes to use this medium to alert the nation on the lingering plot by the opposition elements who have been sponsoring their agents of destruction in the power sector to vandalise critical infrastructure in order to reduce the megawatts of electricity that is being generated and reverse the gains that government is making in the sector." The letter also demanded for N20billion (Twenty Billion Naira) as cost of damage done to the reputation of its client failing which the client will sue the company. Another part of the letter reads: "…to affirm the right of our client against your defamatory publication, we demand that you confirm to us within 24 hours of receipt of this letter, an apology and retraction of the said publication/documentary." |

| Buhari's alleged fake pic: Fayose hails Guardian newspapers over apology Posted: 02 Mar 2015 07:51 AM PST  "Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has commended The Guardian newspapers for apologising to its readers over the false picture of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Major General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd) interview published in the Sunday, February 22, 2015 edition of the newspaper. Governor Fayose, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, said he was happy that Guardian newspapers demonstrated that it was a media organisation to be reckoned with by apologising and writing a detailed editorial on the false picture. The APC had sent to the press, pictures of Buhari's being interviewed in Transcop Hilton Hotel, Abuja by Kemi Fadojutimi of the All Eyes on Africa TV" claiming that he was interviewed in London. The pictures were used by many newspapers and online media, but only Guardian newspapers apologised for using the fake picture. Fayose said; "I am impressed by the high level of professionalism displayed by the Guardian newspapers and I commend the publishers and Editorial team. "Most importantly, I commend the Editor, Abraham Ogbodo for his brilliant write up of yesterday, titled: 'The Lying Photo From Lai Mohammed' and I expect the APC to be humble enough to also apologise to Nigerians for its lies." Speaking further, Governor Fayose, who maintained that there was nothing wrong in Buhari seeking medical treatment abroad, added that; "what is wrong is the lies and secrecy associated with Buhari's medical trip to the United Kingdom. "It was this same way that health issue of late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua was covered up during electioneering campaign in 2007. "Nigerians can still remember the 'Umoru, are you dead,' drama and that is possibly the kind of drama playing out now. If not, how could a personality like Buhari have passed through the Abuja Airport without any of the Aviation Journalists interviewing him? "Why lying that he granted interview in London, using pictures of interview conducted in Abuja? And most importantly, why has the party not deemed it fit to apologise for lying to Nigerians?" |

Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg is now the 16th richest man in the world. The youngest billionaire in the world is 24 year old Evan Spiegel, the co-founder of photo- messaging app, Snapchat. Aliko Dangote is the year's biggest loser, hi fortune dropped to $14.7 billion from $25 billion last year. Read the rest after the cut.. From Forbes For our 29th annual guide to the globe's richest, we found a record 1,826 billionaires with an aggregate net worth of $7.05 trillion, up from $6.4 trillion a year ago. The total includes 290 newcomers, 71 of whom hail from China. Youth are on the rise: A record 46 among the ranks are under age 40. One earthward note: The average net worth of list members came in at $3.86 billion, down $60 million from 2014. Bill Gates is once again the richest person on the planet, a title he's held for 16 of the past 21 years. His fortune grew $3.2 billion since last year to $79.2 billion, despite a gift of $1.5 billion in Microsoft MSFT -0.47% shares to The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in November 2014. Carlos Slim Helu of Mexico comes in again at No. 2 while revered American investor Warren Buffett took back the No. 3 spot from Spain's Amancio Ortega (now No. 4); not even the largest IPO in history was enough to beat the Oracle of Omaha this year. Buffett was the list's biggest gainer, up $14.5 billion to $72.7 billion, thanks to Berkshire Hathaway's rising share price. Ma and three other Chinese are among the the biggest gainers and appear among the 50 richest on the list. Zuckerberg is also the leader in a youth revolution that has minted 46 billionaires under the age of 40. The youngest billionaire on the planet is Evan Spiegel, 24, co-founder of photo- messaging app Snapchat. California, driven by Silicon Valley tech companies, has spawned 23 new billionaires, including cofounders of car-hailing service Uber cofounders Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp, and their first employee Ryan Graves. Elizabeth Holmes, who runs blood-testing firm Theranos, debuts on the global list as the youngest self-made woman at age 31. The state now has 131 individuals with 10-figure net worths, more than any other country besides China and the U.S. The year's biggest loser in dollar terms is Aliko Dangote of Nigeria, whose fortune dropped to $14.7 billion from $25 billion last year, propelled downward by a weaker Nigerian currency and shrinking demand for cement, his largest asset. He still retains the title of Africa's richest man. The country that was lost the most ground by far was Russia, which now has 88 billionaires down from 111, less than not just the U.S. and China but now also Germany and India. One hundred thirty-eight people from the 2014 list dropped out of the ranks altogether including fashion designer Michael Kors, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Zulily's Mark Vadon and many Russians. Guatemala has a billionaire for the first time, and Iceland returns to the ranks after a five-year absence, the result of a comeback by Thor Bjorgolfsson, who's now the only billionaire in Iceland's history. There's no doubt that entrepreneurship is thriving globally. Fully 1,191 members of the list are self-made billionaires, while just 230 inherited their wealth. The beautifully lit poolside party glistened as the star of the night, Nike Oshinowo, glowed. With guests including members of Nike's company, AOE Events & Entertainment Ltd., the LNWNO production crew, sponsors and partners – First Bank, Etisalat, Arik Air, Pernod Ricard, AIT and The Lagos State Government (represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Tourism & Intergovernmental Relations, Mr. Disun Holloway), Nike glowed in the adulation. Ms Oshinowo treated the audience to a jocular speech, as champagne flowed. In typical fashion, Nike was flawless, unruffled and beautiful to the eye. It was pure delight to watch the host do the 'Shoki' and take 'Selfies' with her guests. The night was a well-deserved celebration of a successful first season and an exclusive sneak-peek preview of Season Two which premieres on Thursday, 5th March 2015 on AIT at 11:00pm.
