Chibok girls: 'Shettima should be ready for prosecution if...'- FFK Posted: 09 Mar 2015 12:15 PM PDT Press statement from Femi Fani-Kayode...read below... The Director of Media and Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (PDPPCO), Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has berated Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, for ignoring security reports and the counsel of the Federal Government against holding the 2014 May/June West African Examination Council (WAEC) in Chibok. Fani-Kayode said the abducted Chibok school girls would have been saved the ordeal to which they have been subjected these past 329 days had the governor taken the advice and acted in accordance with the security reports that the town was not safe for the examinations. He served notice to Governor Shettima to be ready for investigation and prosecution after leaving office if found complicit in the circumstances that led to the abduction of the girls. In a statement issued yesterday in Abuja by his Special Assistant (Media), Mr Sufuyan Ojeifo, in response to Governor Shettima's attack on Fani-Kayode over his comment on the fate of the Chibok girls abducted by Boko Haram, the PDPPCO spokesperson was quoted to have said: "Shettima will not be governor forever and when he is no longer in office, his role in the Chibok affair would be investigated and, if found wanting, he would be prosecuted." He accused the governor of reflecting the thinking of his party over the whole mess that his insensitivity allowed to happen. The statement reads: "The governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima is the most irresponsible, insensitive and callous governor in Nigeria. He is a wicked man whose mindset reflects the thinking of his party, All Progressives Congress (APC). He, more than anybody else, is responsible for the abduction of the Chibok girls. "And he should bear full responsibility for it. The man should shut up and bow his head in shame because it was due to his irresponsibility as the chief security officer of Borno State that those little girls in Chibok were abducted, raped, sold into slavery and subjected to terror. "The circumstances that led to the abduction of the innocent girls, who were writing their examination in an environment that was everything but secure, underscored the governor's negligence. "The governor must give account to God and to the Nigerian people for what he has done to those girls. We are accusing him of being responsible for the abduction of the Chibok girls because he was warned by the Federal Government and by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) not to allow the examination take place in Chibok. "He ignored the warning and promised to guarantee security for those girls. When time came, the governor did not even deploy one policeman, let alone adequate security. "He betrayed the girls; he set them up; he opened the door for them to be abducted by the Boko Haram and instead of asking for forgiveness and repenting of his wicked ways, he is talking nonsense. "In any other country, this man would have been arrested and prosecuted for collaborating with Boko Haram. But here, in Nigeria, instead of him showing remorse, he went all over the world attacking the President and the Federal Government over the Chibok affair. Those he was speaking to did not know that he, more than anybody else, was responsible for the abduction of those girls." |

2015 Elections: Take A Stand group holds discourse in Abuja Posted: 09 Mar 2015 09:50 AM PDT 'Nigeria: Having a dream is not enough, take a Stand!' These were the words resounded by various speakers at the Take A Stand Discourse held on Sunday, the 8th of March at the Niger/Enugu Banquet Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja. Take A Stand, powered by the Nigerian Professionals Coalition (NPC), was born out of the urgency to get Nigerians to stop sitting on the side-lines and get involved in creating a truly dynamic Nigeria. In February 2015, a Press Conference was held in Lagos state to introduce the initiative. Among the first course of actions was the scheduled discourse in Abuja to get essential stakeholders involved in the initiative process. The Discourse which was moderated by Africa's premier Life and Mind Coach, Lanre Olusola, popularly known as the Catalyst, was well attended by concerned and well-meaning Nigerians drawn from various industrial sectors. Setting the tone of the discourse was a paper presentation, titled "Nigeria: Having A Dream is not Enough", by the co-ordinator of the Take A Stand Initiative, Adebola Odu-Onikosi. According to him, "For the potentials of the nation not to be totally wasted, the followers need to wake up across the length and breadth of the country and demand a say in the way we are governed. This is the set time for every Nigerian to wake up to his/her identity and be the master of his/her fate. After all, Nigeria is a democracy and not a monarchy. We each have a basic right to good education, infrastructure, healthcare and security. The leadership is vested with the responsibility to deliver these dividends to every Nigerian". Taking a true form of a discourse, all participants were given an opportunity to speak and challenge everyone to action. Some Memorable and Inspiring Quotes from Discussants at the Event: Taking a stand is from the practical day to day behavior. Gruesome! Full video of Suge Knight's fatal hit & run has been released Posted: 09 Mar 2015 09:09 AM PDT TMZ has obtained the video of music executive Suge Knight running over 2 men a few weeks ago, killing one. The video is revealing, gruesome, and will become the centerpiece of his murder trial. Read full TMZ report below and watch the video after the cut...(the video is quite graphic) Watch the video carefully. You see Suge pull up and he is almost instantly confronted by Cle "Bone" Sloan, who did security for the film. You clearly see Bone attacking Suge through the driver's window, when Suge suddenly throws the truck in reverse, clipping Bone with the side view mirror and knocking him down. You also see Terry Carter -- the man who ended up run over and dead -- standing near Bone. Terry moves into the parking lot when Suge guns it again, hitting Bone a second time and mowing Terry down, mortally wounding him.Suge claims he was not trying to run either man over but instead was trying to escape out of fear he would be killed. Suge's lawyer claims Bone and Terry both had guns. Check out the video. As Bone lays on the ground you clearly see another man walk up, remove something from Bone and put it in his waistband. Law enforcement tells TMZ ... they believe the video shows that Suge could have escaped after hitting Bone the first time by simply driving down the road. But Suge's people say the group assembled near the truck was ominous and he feared if he drove past them he'd be shot. We know Suge claims that multiple people in the crowd -- including Terry Carter -- were threatening to shoot him. Suge believes the video exonerates him. Prosecutors feel the opposite. Terry Carter's family asked that TMZ post the video to show what happened. The family's lawyer, Gary Dordick, tells TMZ, "The Carter family is pleased you are releasing the video so the public can see what actually occurred and not be forced to speculate based on third party descriptions of the video." We blurred the portion where Terry is run over ... it's just too gruesome. The video below... |
