Wife of Nollywood actor, Jide kosoko, Henrietta Kosoko, was involved in an accident along Sagamu Abeokuta road on Friday January 30th. She opened up about her ordeal to Encomium magazine...
"I went to Abeokuta for TAMPPAN national meeting on Thursday. I decided to stay over because my friend who was having a remembrance for her husband. I left Abeokuta around past 11am the following day. I got to a place they call Kobape. I was about climbing a bump when I noticed that the car brake was faulty. When I couldn't find a solution to it, I had to look for where to hit, so I ran into the bush. That was all I could remember. I woke up in the hospital.
"I did a check up before I traveled. I serviced the car. I took the car to Ladipo a few days before I traveled and changed some parts. I even took it to the filling station for brake oil. The car was sound, it didn't give any faulty sign at all. This has taught me a lot. One of them is never to travel alone. I thank God for saving my life"

People are freaking out over these unretouched pics of Beyonce

Top Nigerian DJs Take Turns At MTN Valentine Party

Posted: 18 Feb 2015 11:12 AM PST

It was a worthwhile experience on Feb. 14, at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, as MTN congregated leading Nigerian Disc Jockeys (DJs) to battle for supremacy on the wheel of steel to thrill fun-seeking lovers, guests, youths and fans during the 2015 co-sponsored Valentine Rave Party. The event which was used to celebrate the St. Valentine's Day featured six of Nigeria's most sought-after DJs.

Iconic and globally respected DJs like Jimmy Jatt joined forces with DJ Neptune, Sose, Big N, Obi and Lambo—the only female DJ, to render the greatest collection and mixture of sounds and music to thrill and make the lover's day a remarkable and memorable one.

The DJs' session was a fascinating one as the DJs took turns to entertain guests and fun seeking and loving youths. The event was truly a sight to behold as the DJs tried to win the hearts of thousands of people present through their prowess on the wheel of steel. Most fascinating was the inspiring female DJ Lambo, who challenged DJ Jimmy Jatt, Neptune, Sose, Big N and Obi as she kept guests dancing all through the night. It was a tight contest as they all showed why they are among the few best DJs in this part of the World.

Those who were present had quality time. They had a fun-filled Valentine's Day. They showered encomiums on the organisers of the show and commended the leading ICT company, MTN, for making Valentine's Day an exciting one. "It's a great show", Taiwo Adeniyi, an excited youth stated. "The DJs are amazingly excellent especially as they take turns in keeping the show lively all through the night. I must confess, this is my best Valentine's party ever. I must say a big thank you to MTN for throwing its support with other brands to make this event come to live", he concluded.

Besides fun seekers present at the event, include notable guests such as Kenny Ogungbe, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha as well as leading Nigerian musicians like Chidinma and Tiwa Sawage.

Amen! Rascism may not allow ISIS team up with Boko Haram - US Intelligence

Posted: 18 Feb 2015 08:52 AM PST

Found this report on NBC News. US Intelligence report suggests that racism will keep ISIS operating in Northern Africa from teaming up with Boko Haram. Amen! Read report below...
Long before ISIS militants beheaded Christians on a Libyan beach last week, Nigeria's Boko Haram was carrying out similar atrocities 1,500 miles to the south. Now that ISIS is operating in northern Africa, will the Syria-based organization join forces with the continent's largest Islamist terror group? Maybe not, say U.S. intelligence officials, and they suggest one obstacle is racism.
The Arab world is incredibly racist," explained a U.S. intelligence official. "They don't see black Africans as equivalent to them."
ISIS may show "affinity" with Boko Haram, said the official, "but they stop short of allegiance." Moreover, said the official, while Boko Haram has in the past year released videos to show "affiliation" with groups like ISIS, there's no evidence of either group sending members to fight with the other. And while Boko Haram has praised ISIS, and shown the ISIS flag in videos, ISIS has not reciprocated.
"There are still questions of the ISIS view of Boko Haram and Nigeria," said the official. "But Boko Haram does not operate in sync with ISIS. The caliphates are separate." There was concern last October when Boko Haram declared its caliphate that the two might team up, but there's no indication that's happening, said the official.
The groups differ in many ways. Both use social media, but the ISIS campaign is much more sophisticated - using more than 20 languages -- and attempts to communicate the Islamic rationale for its operations. Boko Haram posts increasingly slick videos on the web, like one released Tuesday that threatens the leaders of Cameroon, Benin and Chad, but its prime recruiting tool is older and simpler than social media. "Boko Haram," said one official, "uses fear."
The governance of their respective caliphates also differs. ISIS attempts to replace the bureaucracies it found in conquered territories with its own, while Boko Haram has been satisfied simply taking over villages and cities and establishing Sharia courts that mete out rough justice.
ISIS has more "hardcore" soldiers than Boko Haram -- about 26,000 to 31,000 compared to 4,000 to 6,000. ISIS is also more attractive to foreign fighters, with an estimated 2,700 Westerners having fought for the group. Intelligence officials say that other than a few fighters who've crossed the border into Nigeria from Cameroon, Chad and Niger, the numbers of foreign fighters in Boko Haram are negligible. There's no evidence, they say, of any North Americans or Europeans fighting in Nigeria.
But even if there is no link beyond shared values between the groups, ISIS may be a role model for Boko Haram, said Michael Sheehan, chairman of the Countering Terrorism Center at West Point. He said he's "not sure" Boko Haram would've "gone the caliphate route" if ISIS hadn't done so first.
"Each of them has been successful, reinforcing their own optimism, and that's not insignificant," said Sheehan.
And there is little difference in the level of violence perpetrated by the groups. An intelligence official told NBC News that many of the attacks and atrocities carried out by the Nigerian group have not been publicly reported publicly.
The two groups also share a crucial asset: a charismatic leader. Intelligence officials say that just as Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's persona is central to ISIS, Abubakar Shekau's "fiery persona" has made him a strong commander-in-chief of Boko Haram -- one who would be difficult to replace.
"Everything starts with Shekau," said an intelligence official. "There doesn't appear to be a charismatic leader below him." Officials note that in videos made since the announcement of the caliphate, like Tuesday's, Shekau has presented himself less as a militant and more as a leader.

2015 elections: Group urges Nigerians to stop sitting on the sideliness and take a stand

Posted: 18 Feb 2015 08:29 AM PST

"It is not our beliefs, but our actions that make us better people. Nigeria must keep moving, but that means it is you and I that must keep moving. We must fight against not only corrupt leaders and mediocrity at all levels, but against our own inertia which whispers to us that we are helpless. We must seize our destinies and act before it is too late. We must take a stand now" – Take A Stand Nigeria.

The need for better participation by Nigerians in shaping the future of the country has been emphasized. This was thrust of a statement released by a group of young Nigerian professionals from diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds.

The group, Take A Stand, in a statement says it is time for Nigerians to take a stand against governments that take the citizens for granted regardless of party affiliation at the local, state and national levels.

"Nigerians, we must stop complaining and take our destinies into our own hands. If I have to sleep in my office to ensure that I vote, I will do it. If I don't vote, I have no right to complain" Mr Adebola Odu- Onikosi , a member of the group admonished.

Worried about the high level of corruption and impunity in the country, Take A Stand believes that citizens need to play a major role by ensuring that they come out and vote for those they believe will take the country out of her present woes. "If 70% of the population come out to vote, it will be difficult for the elections to get rigged" another member of the group added.

Promising to not let up until the 'Nigeria of our dreams" is realized; The Take A Stand group has planned a self-supported mass mobilization campaign, where Nigerians of various social and economic strata will be further enlightened on the merits of taking part in the selection of leaders for the country.

"When your kids are 20years old, where will Nigeria be? This is affecting all of us, you cannot take your whole village abroad" – Odu-Onkosi further challenged everyone to get involved as this was bigger than individuals and parties.

In a bid to reach a wider audience, an inaugural blog chat hosted by singer and Nigerian Idol judge, Yinka Davies was held on Valentine's Day on the initiative's official website www.takeastandnigeria.com to discuss the Love for Country. According to the organizers, such innovative chats will hold every Saturday with respected public figures who will drive a non-partisan conversation.

This week, international Public Speaker and blogger, Omojuwa will be hosting the blog chat on the group's website at 2PM. People in and out of Nigeria are urged to join in this discussion and lend their voices to the noble cause. To follow and be a part of the initiative's activities on social media:

INEC chairman appears before the Senate to explain election postponement

Posted: 18 Feb 2015 06:44 AM PST

INEC Chairman Prof. Jega appeared before the National Assembly this afternoon to explain why the election was postponed and also demonstrate how they would use card readers during the elections.

Speaking to members of the Senate, Prof Jega talked about politicians who are rumoured to have bought PVCs in some parts of Nigeria like in Ebonyi state where about 300 PVCs were stolen. He said that stealing PVCs is an exercise in futility as the cards would be useless during elections.

He said those who have stolen cards are only disenfranchising people as only those with credible PVC's would be accredited during the elections. Continue...

He said there are rumors that politicians are buying cards to reduce the strength of their oppositions at a particular place. He said the PVCs would last at least 10 years and can be used in future elections.

Prof Jega revealed that about 800,000 to 1 million PVCs are yet to be produced
"As I speak to you, 800, 000 to 1 million cards are yet to be produced. The collection rate has averaged 75.94 percent," he said.
‎He however promised that the PVCs would be produced before the March 28th date for the presidential elections.

Asked under what circumstance can a voter vote without PVC vote, he said under no circumstance. Prof Jega said it is only with a PVC that any one can vote because most people who have Temporary voters card carried out multiple voters registration.

Prof Jega said he cannot say whether the elections would hold on the new dates. He said there are things that are not under the electoral commission's control, one of which is security issues. He said the election postponement would give them time to train all their officials, particularly those who would handle the card reader.

On whether the card readers was clone-able, he said they can be cloned but that they cannot be cloned successfully to be used with the INEC PVCs. He said only accreditation detail information would be sent to the INEC server.

He said he cannot answer questions bordering on security and advised that the service chiefs be invited.

Must read for parents – Don’t let your child fail under your watch!

Posted: 18 Feb 2015 06:02 AM PST

There is nothing more painful than seeing one's child perform below par or even simply not come out as the best. Is there a way to prevent this? 100% yes there is. But it takes time and patience, so the question is, do you think your beloved child is worth it? If yes read on.

Parents have a difficult task of raising and rearing the future. Here are some great tips gathered from a Question and Answer session with Prepclass, Nigeria's most reputable lesson teacher agency and academics solutions provider.

Read the best parts of the interview below:
Question: With your experience what are the 3 most important things that can help a child succeed
We would say giving the child good education, helping them develop the right attitudes and identifying and developing their talents early on

When you say education, do you mean sending them to school?
Absolutely not; over 15 million children in Nigeria are in schools. Of course some schools are better than others but even in the best schools, 1 teacher supervises about 20 students. If your child was an important business investment worth millions would you simply hand it over to a manager who runs 20 other businesses without checking everything that happens every day? Certainly not!
Schools are extremely important, but personal 1-on-1 supervision is absolutely necessary, the parent must be an integral part of the child's education andsupervise what they learn. Most parents are not teachers so they lack the pedagogical skill to teach their children, many don't even have any time. If a parent truly wants the best results for their child, the best recommendation is for them to get a seasoned teacher as the child's personal tutor.

Isn't that too much, several parents already pay heavy school fees?
This is true. But studies suggest that 2 hours of personalized attention beats 5 hours of classroom learning. In a tutoring session, it is all about your child, your child and your child ONLY! And this is very important; a child between ages 6 - 10 in an averagely priced school whose education is supplemented by very a good lesson teacher will almost certainly outperform a child who is in an expensive school but having no personal support.
How does one get the best lesson teacher for a child?
That's very easy. Click here and you'll get a lesson teacher within a week. We have helped more than 150 parents get good lesson teachers in Lagos and we have very good results because over 95% of our tutors are practicing teachers (interested teachers can apply here)  in very good schools so they always deliver on results every time. We are a registered company in Nigeria, Our office is at the 6th floor, 294 Herbert Macaulay road, Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, parents can come visit us whenever they want to, our phone number is 01-2913970 or you can have a chat with us whenever you visit our site, we have a consultant waiting online to offer free consultation from 10 – 6pm Monday to Friday and 12pm - 4pm on Saturdays
Wow… that's amazing! Can you elaborate on your 3rd point; identifying and developing their talents early on
Every child is good at something, it maybe that the child is a computer genius at age 9 or draws very well at age 7 or the child really would really love to play any musical instrument or learn a foreign language. Most parents just brag about that and clap for the child but this isn't nearly enough.
At Prepclass, we have tutors that can help children learn special skills that are outside any syllabus, the parent merely needs torequest by filling this form or call 01-2913970 to speak with us directly

What are the Cost implications of all this?
We have a great diversity of tutors and our prices are flexible. We have 2 packages; Classic and premium packages. Classic package is for parents/clients that have a budget of N20k-N45k per month while the Premium package is for parents/clients that have a budget of N45k and above per month. More details about that here.

How long have you guys been doing this and where is your office?
We have been doing this for a quite a while now, approximately 2 years. We launched primarily as an online company but over time we noticed that parents were interested in connecting with home tutors. We were just recently nominated for the Future Awards in the education category and have gotten several accolades and recognition from academic institutions including the famous MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). We are located at the 6th floor 294 Herbert Macaulay Sabo Yaba. or call 01-2913970

Graphic photos: Corpse of rape victim dumped in Imo community

Posted: 18 Feb 2015 05:53 AM PST

The nude corpse of a lady was discovered a day after Valentine's day on Sunday Feb. 15th at Okwu village in Umunneato autonomous community in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.

The corpse had bruises all over, especially around the breasts and private parts, leading people to believe she was brutally raped and murdered. The identity of the victim or her age is still unknown. The people who discovered her body called the police who came to remove the corpse.

The witness who saw her body told a Vanguard reporter "I am not too sure that it was a case of ritual killing because no part of the girl, on the face value, was missing. It is, to me, a case of brutal gang-raping to death of the unfortunate girl." See the very graphic photos after the cut

The body of the girl had been moved to the morgue of Aboh Mbaise General Hospital.
