Groom dies in strange auto crash on way to marriage introduction

Posted: 22 Feb 2015 01:18 PM PST

This is an interesting story, though they didn't mention the names of the people involved. Written by Patience Egwuwa for Sunday Sun. Read below...
While people were busy celebrating love last Val's Day, a family somewhere in Ebonyi was suddenly overtaken by grief over what would have been the beginning of a beautiful love story between their daughter and the man she was bringing home for introduction.
The young woman, a native of Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, was bringing home her suitor when only a few poles to her family house, the vehicle they were traveling in had an accident and she watched helplessly as the one she loved took the last breath.
The accident happened at Enufaith in Umunaga Eweze, just before the Ohaozara West Development Council in Uburu. They were traveling in a commercial bus.

Strangely, the young man, an indigene of Abia State, was the only occupant of the bus that died in the accident. The intending couple had traveled alongside a few family members of the man from Aba for the event that was to hold just a few meters from the scene of the accident.

According to an eyewitness account, the passengers claimed that the driver was trying to avoid hitting an old woman who was crossing the road when he lost control and hit the wall of a building.
The eyewitness, Frank Ori said he ran out of his house when he heard the deafening bang of the vehicle hitting the wall.

"I heard when people were shouting and so I ran out of my house to the place. The passengers were talking about a woman. When we asked whom they were referring to, they explained that while they were coming an old woman was crossing the road.

"So, the driver tried to avoid hitting her. But seeing that he was about to hit a building, he turned the steering suddenly and in the process the vehicle somersaulted and hit another wall. But when we came out, we could not see any woman fitting the description they gave. We asked people and they said that they did not see any woman like that.

"Strangely again, out of all the passengers, it was only the young man that was killed. The wife-to-be, who was also traveling with him,  suffered only a small glass cut. They were all coming in the same vehicle. It was only that man that died from the accident. The girl he was going to marry had only a small cut, along with one other woman. Every other person in the bus was safe. It was just the three of them that were rushed to the hospital," Ori said.

Sunday Sun gathered that the father of the girl was late, while her mother resided in the village. The girl was resident in Aba where she met the late suitor. Ori explained that when rescuers made to move the man out of the damaged vehicle, they discovered that he was not talking.

"It happened that when the vehicle hit the wall, part of the block that fell from the wall fell on the man's head. It was lying on his head. Then we rushed him alongside the wife-to-be and one other woman that sustained an injury to the Presbyterian Joint Hospital in Uburu. But before getting to the hospital, he gave up the ghost," Ori said.

Mark my words, Buhari will never be Nigeria president - Fayose

Posted: 22 Feb 2015 06:36 AM PST

Press statement from Ekiti state governor's office..(Buhari pictured in London on Friday...)
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said that the hope of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to seize power in Nigeria, using Major General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd) will be dashed saying; "Buhari will never be Nigeria president again."
The governor also challenged Buhari to swear by the Holy Quran that he did not visit hospital in the United Kingdom last week.
Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said; "I wish they can see spiritually what I am talking about that Buhari,  despite the hullabaloo will never be president. I predicted my return as Ekiti State Governor and I am saying it again that Buhari will never rule Nigeria again.
"After President Goodluck Jonathan, there will be a young element in his late 50s from the North that will be Nigeria president. I want to liken this revelation to the story of Elijah and Elisha. I am the Elijah while my followers are Elisha."
While maintaining that he was not wishing Buhari dead, Governor Fayose said; "I owe it a duty to Nigeria and its people to expose the antics of the APC cabal whose only interest is to seize power to further their selfish interests.
"Without doubt, it is obvious that these cabal in the APC are trying so hard to deceive Nigerians on Buhari's health status.  That's the reason they have been using photoshoped pictures to defend their lies on Buhari's UK trip.
"First, they used a March 5, 2013 picture, claiming that Buhari was taking a walk in London on Thursday. Later they came up with another poorly cropped picture of Buhari with former British Prime Minister,Tony Blair.
"The same people who lied in September 2012 that they received a gold card invitation to attend the Democratic National Convention in the United States of America are behind the robing of Buhari in the garment of lies and I challenge Buhari to swear by the Holy Quran that he did not visit hospital in the United Kingdom last week.
"However, I want to disappoint this selfish cabal. Buhari is only raising their hope and that hope will be dashed."

I and my team underestimated Boko Haram – president Jonathan

Posted: 22 Feb 2015 06:21 AM PST

In an interview with ThisDay, President Jonathan said he underestimated the strength of terror group Boko Haram when he assumed office as President but now believes that the leader of the sect will be arrested before the elections.

He said bad press & poor Public relations has negatively affected his government as people, including himself and his cabinet members are not up to date with the achievements of his government. Read the interview after the cut...

"I think the thing that has brought this government down with both Nigerians and non-Nigerians, is the issue of Boko Haram. One thing is that terrorism is all over the world, but they believe that we did not handle it the way we were supposed to handle it. Probably at the beginning, we and I mean myself and the team, we underrated the capacity of the Boko Haram. Capacity not in terms of what they have in Nigeria, but their international linkages, we underrated that and thought that we were dealing with some local elements that we could overrun.
Many of the security chiefs had made statements that later on you people took them up on. That shows they underestimated their capacity. We've now realised that the handshake had gone above the elbow and so we have to move fully and that's why we are running round to get the right military equipments we need. Somehow we could not get them early enough, and now it has moved too close to the election. But with what is happening now, in the next two weeks, that is three weeks into the six weeks, God willing, Nigerians will be happy with what the military has done in the North-east.
On whether there is anything I would have done differently, yes. I think one thing about the government is that we have done quite a number of things. At times many of us in the government don't even know what we have done. People tell us. I remember in the beginning of this campaign, if I wanted to visit a state, I will ask those in my office to list out some of our projects in some of these states so that we can tell them what we've done. Sometimes when I go to the states, people from the host governments will give me a longer list than the ones prepared for me in my office. That means that even some of us in the government don't even know all of what we have done to impact positively on Nigeria.
Probably we did not put attention and resources on media and public relations. Public relations is a major thing and that is why companies have departments for this. No matter what you do, you must have a team that would manage your image. Shell doesn't need anybody to advertise their crude oil, they've sold it already, but they still have image makers. I think we downplayed the issue of image for the government, and of course making our achievements known.
Also probably the issue of corruption, because these are the two areas people tackle us - corruption and security. For security, God willing, that will soon be a thing of the past. The next thing is the issue of corruption, and I used to tell people: if I don't want to fight corruption, I wouldn't have brought in (Ibrahim) Lamorde as chairman of the EFCC.
I came on board as the vice-president of Yar'Adua, (Nuhu) Ribadu, you all know the story, was removed. Lamorde was Ribadu's second in command, he was the Director of Operations, and was removed from the EFCC back to the police. Farida was appointed and she was trying her best, because she used to brief me from time to time. We had to drop her because of reports from both within this country and outside. And given that Ribadu was Lamorde were well- trained by the west, they argued that if I bring Lamorde back that EFCC would improve. If I am someone that don't want to fight corruption I would not have listened and brought back Lamorde because he once investigated me. My in-law was detained here in Abuja for weeks. But I sent for him and told him that Nigerians and non-Nigerians believed in him, so we would bring him to help EFCC, because he was the backbone of Ribadu. So we asked him to come and be the head of the agency.
But people often say that my body movement encourages corruption which is not true.  Lamorde told me about their limitations, being in court and the court compromising. I then came up with some innovations again. Though constitutionally, the three arms of government are not supposed to meet; there is no platform for the three to meet, even though the executive and parliament do meet because we are all politicians, but I said look we must, for the image of the country, come together. I then called for a special meeting with myself, the vice-president, then the head of corruption agencies, EFCC, ICPC and the Senate president and his deputy, then the speaker and his deputy. Then for the judiciary, all the judges of the federation, the president of the court of appeal, the chief judge of the federal high court and (from) each of the zones, we nominated a state chief judge each. I told them that the executive, legislature and judiciary must work together in the interest of the country to fight corruption.
I called the meeting because of the issue of court delay, and we discussed and everybody showed concern. But the judiciary operates like a university setting where every lecturer behaves like he is 100 per cent academic  freedom .Every judge has some level of autonomy, and if they don't operate that way there will be issues. So there is a limit that even the chief judge of the federation can control a judge. The only thing is that if they misbehave they will be punished under their guide book, but other than that, the judge can decide to ignore any decision. We had several meetings, and it was in one of those meetings that the question came up about the difference between corruption and stealing based on the laws.
We are doing our best to see that corruption is reduced. You can see that in the payroll system, we have eliminated corruption and theft including the agric sector. One major area that we will go into is the oil sector.  So we are going to sanitise all the sectors, but I always believe that fighting corruption is not just about first  arresting people and celebrating the arrest on television.  We have to investigate and prosecute before publicity" he said.

Photos: OAU Accounting students Rep council members fight during meeting

Posted: 22 Feb 2015 05:09 AM PST

The crisis rocking the Accounting Students Representative Council (ASRC) OAU chapter reached its zenith yesterday when the Parliamentary sitting was turned to a fighting stage by the honourables and executive members over power tussle and constitutional matters.

The brawl started last Friday when the parliament summoned the association's President, Adeoba Vincent to give a report on the  state of the association & NISEL, a program the association organised in January which generated millions of naira for the association.

The President, while speaking on the floor of the house, was interrupted several times by the  speaker and also accused of dressing unofficially by Hon. Moses. Adeoba felt insulted by the conduct of some of the honourables and consequently walked out of the floor over what he regarded as  disrespect for the office of the president by the speaker and some honourable members.

President Adeoba said:" I was in the floor to represent the the generality of Management and Accounting students' interests in the house, and I deserve to be respected because I wasn't accused of any misappropriation  of funds".

For the perceived act of disrespect by the President, the parliamentarian ordered him to write an apology letter to the house. The president  in turn demanded that the parliamentarian should write a letter of apology to the office of the executive.

Meanwhile, another sitting held yesterday 21st February, 2015 ended in deadlock as the speaker pronounced the Director of Socials, Tunde Animashaun, suspended over ill manner towards the speaker and the house. The DOS was earlier asked to excuse the house for some minutes when he raised a constitutional matter and he refused to do.

Immediately the DOS got suspended some galleria in the house also posited that some members of the house be suspended for misbehaving during recess, though the maze is still in the house. After the speaker listen to this, he also raised the motion that the General Secretary Oladotun Oladiti, be suspended for disrupting the sitting continuation after recess.

Hon. Tunde, A student Union Rep speaking with LFB said- On the chaos that erupted, grudges in the heart of the ASRC and the Executive member led to this, and the speaker caused it. "He has lots to learn on Parliamentary sitting". He said.

Another galleria and Editor in Chief of the echoes of accounting Ibikunle Akingbade, has also showed his grievances over a honourable in part 1 constituency Hon. Rasak, over his behavior towards the president. How will he have done that? He said.

Afeez Lasisi, The Nation campus life reporter was almost beaten for doing his job. The journalist was taking pics to report when some honourable members the like of Hon. Fetuga, and Hon. Abdullah attacked him and pushed him to the window to have broken some loafers at the law lecture theatre.

Meanwhile the NUASA president has offered to bear the cost of the breakage, the act of the Honourables was very bad and on called for Afeez said.

Dozens of cops and firefighters flock to autistic boy's birthday party after his heartbroken mom revealed none of his classmates turned up

Posted: 22 Feb 2015 03:18 AM PST

Found this heartwarming story on Mail Online about how classmates of a young autistic boy refused to turn up for his 6th birthday party and after his heartbroken mum revealed it on Facebook, dozens of fire-fighters, police and people in his community turned up at his home to make it a birthday he'd never forget. Read full story below...
Ashlee Buratti, of St. Cloud, Florida, had invited her son Glenn's class of 16 children to his birthday on February 8, and when no one showed up, he was devastated.
Though no one RSVP'd, Buratti and her husband John Buratti were 'still holding on to the hope that some of them would show up' to the party for her son, who has epilepsy and a mild form of autism.
'From the minute he woke up that day he wanted to know how many minutes until his friends came,' Buratti, 25, said, adding that his eyes filled with tears when he learned no one was coming.

The mother-of-three posted on a locally run Facebook page with more than 10,000 members titled, Osceola Rants, Raves and Reviews List, to express her frustration, according to the Osceola News-Gazette.

'I know this might be something silly to rant about, but my heart is breaking for my son. We invited his whole class (16 kids) over for his 6th birthday party today. Not one kid came,' she posted.
And when other group members saw the post they sent Buratti messages asking if they could bring their own kids to Glenn's party to celebrate.
The message even reached staff from the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, who asked for the family's address and said a helicopter would fly over their St. Cloud home.

The helicopter came to the house within an hour, and the pilot flew low enough that Glenn could see him waving.
Glenn, who loves public safety and law enforcement, was overjoyed with the party, and his mom said that though he is usually shy, he took to his new friends like he'd known them all his life.

'In general, deputies have big hearts - they thought about their own kids and wanted to make this boy happy because it was such a sad situation,' Buratti told Today.
In total, about 15 kids and 25 adults showed up to celebrate and eat cake, give gifts to Glenn and play in a bounce house.

One woman brought the birthday boy a bike, while others brought toys. Buratti said one man came to the party with a camera and took pictures he later gave to the family.
'It was just amazing. The people who came out were so awesome,' Buratti told the Osceola News-Gazette.
And Glenn's birthday celebration didn't end on Sunday - several crews from the Sheriff's Office and Osceola County Fire Rescue stopped by the family's home on Wednesday.
Though Buratti knew the crews were coming, she left it a surprise for her son to see as they were on their way home from school.

'We got to the stop sign by our house and Glenn was like, "The fire truck's at our house!" I said, "It's okay, they're there to tell you happy birthday,"' Buratti told CBS News.

They all wished him a happy birthday, gave him tours of their fire truck, squad cars, motorcycles and a SWAT vehicle and showered him with more gifts.
'And to think, all this happened because nobody showed up to his birthday,' Buratti wrote online. 'Thank you, thank you, thank you.'

Kris Jenner was hacked...and nude photos have surfaced online. (see it)

Posted: 22 Feb 2015 01:12 AM PST

Kris Jenner, 59, was hacked and now someone has nude photos of her which was shot in her house. Kris told her family (it was filmed for their reality show) that someone broke into her iCloud and took the private video. In the video, Kris Jenner was either pleasuring herself or there was someone else there. A few screenshots from the video have been leaked on the internet but the Kardashian Matriarch is trying to stop the video from being leaked. This will be a major storyline for next season of Keeping Up with Kardashians. Kris also claims she's being extorted over the video.

Some are even saying Kris leaked the photos herself to have an interesting storyline for their show next season. Well, whatever the case is...the pics are now on Twitter. But because I don't want to post it directly here, I'll send you to another website that already posted it. See it here and here
