Photos: Ojukwu’s Niece, 4 others arrested for drug trafficking Posted: 12 Jan 2016 01:15 PM PST Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA have arrested five people including one Ijeoma Ojukwu, a niece to late Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, and three others namely Victor Umeh, Uche Igwelo and Egbuche Fidelis Osiita over the trafficking of 2.24kg of substance believed to be cocaine from Brazil. Also being investigated is a staff of NDLEA. NDLEA officials believe that 48 year old Ijeoma who runs a restaurant in Brazil is believed to be a member of an international drug syndicate. Speaking on the arrest, the agency's commander at the airport, Ahmadu Garba said a luggage tagged for Agina Fidelis Ejike, was abandoned at the arrival hall during inward screening of passengers on an Emirates flight on December 28. "On January 1, 2016, one Egbuche Fidelis Osita came with authority letter mandating him to collect the bag. In the process, some white powdery substance weighing 2.24kg that tested positive for cocaine was discovered. The drug was neatly packed in four parcels concealed in false bottom of four female handbags." "My brother came from Brazil and could not find his bag. It was in the process of trying to get the bag out that we were arrested." Uche Igwelo, 36, a public administration graduate, said she was invited by Ijeoma to assist in collecting the bag. "I sell kitchen utensil and I am married with a child. Ijeoma met me that I should help him to collect a bag at the airport. We were trying to get the bag when NDLEA officers arrested us," Uche, an Anambra native told investigators, according to an official statement from NDLEA. Egbuche Fidelis Osita, a 37-year-old student said that he was asked to collect the bag. "I am a 400 level student studying English Education at the Ekiti State University. My friend Victor Umeh was the person that asked me to help in claiming a luggage at the airport. We all drove to the airport where I was given a letter of authority and other documents of the passenger that came with the luggage. In the process of trying to collect the bag I was arrested. This is all I know about this incident," Osita said. |

Lol. Toddler hits the gym in order to impress prospective girlfriend Posted: 12 Jan 2016 01:07 PM PST One little Romeo has taken to the gym with the aim of getting buffed up. His aim? To trump a rival and get the girl. Brody Lee Smith decided to work out to get 'big and strong' in order to be best friends with an older girl. In a hilarious online video, he opens up to his mum on why he's working out. He said: "I'm practising on the bike riding. I've got someone to meet who's going to be my best friend. "I'm trying to get stronger so I can show her, so I can be her best friend, so she doesn't have to be rude to me all day. Because all day she's been rude, so I'm trying to get stronger so she won't yell at me and do all that rude stuff." His mum asks him whether being strong will make a difference or whether she'll yell anyway. But Brody reveals he's beefing up to be stronger than another boy - apparently also fighting for the girl's affections. And he hilariously quips, "A guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do". He said: "He's a kid bigger than me and I'm going to get bigger than him because I'm an athlete. "A guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do. "Because if a guy doesn't do what he's supposed to do, he won't get stronger - he'll be weak. Good luck little man. |

PDP Insists On Metuh’s Release ….Says Jalo Does Not Speak For It Posted: 12 Jan 2016 11:38 AM PST Read the press statement below... The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it has not changed its demand that the Party's spokesman, Chief Olisa Metuh be immediately released or charged to court by the EFCC. This clarification is on the instance of strange publications in the media credited to Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo on the arrest, by the EFCC, of some of our leaders and particularly our National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh. Jalo was also quoted to have spoken on behalf of the PDP in calling on former President Goodluck Jonathan to speak out on the controversial arms deal scandal. The national leadership of the party wishes to clarify that Jalo is not a member of the National Working Committee and does not have the mandate of the party to speak on its behalf on any matter whatsoever. Under our constitution, only the National Chairman and the National Publicity Secretary or any body so designated by the National Chairman or the National Working Committee speaks for the party. Jalo, clearly does not have this mandate and could not have been speaking for our party. For the avoidance of doubt, the official position of our great party remains that our spokesman should be released or charged to court as he remains innocent until proven otherwise by a court of competent jurisdiction, in line with the provisions of our constitution and the laws of Nigeria. The PDP is therefore resolute in challenging the continued detention of our spokesman for a week now, beyond the limits provided by the laws in violation of his constitutionally guaranteed rights as a citizen. We are solidly behind our spokesman in the demand for the enforcement of his rights and liberty. Our demand that he is immediately released or charge to court has not changed. Chief Olisa Metuh has the right under the law to his statement and the onus lies on the investigating agency to charge him to court and not to arrogate itself the duties of the judiciary. The PDP has expressly explained in various statements and press conferences that it is not in any way against fighting corruption provided it is done within the confines of rule of law and respect for the fundamental Human rights of citizens. We also wish to reiterate our stand that President Buhari-led Federal Government has turned the anti- corruption fight as a witch-hunt on PDP leaders, with a view to decimating the party and installing its desired one party state in the country. All lovers of democracy, including the international community should take critical look at the various breaches of this administration and the threat it brings to civil liberty and national stability and rein in this government to respect the values of democracy. Signed: Barr. Victor Kwon National Legal Adviser |

Looks like the rapper who claimed he was arrested for withdrawing $200k lied Posted: 12 Jan 2016 07:51 AM PST A few days ago, I shared a story of a rapper named "Blac Youngsta," who was arrested outside a Wells Fargo bank in Atlanta after he withdrew $200,000 cash from his own account. (Read here). Looks like he lied because the police is telling a very different story. Wells Fargo released an official statement, saying "Mr. Benson is not an account holder with us. He did not enter our store nor did he make any withdrawals. Sergeant Warren Pickard of the Atlanta Police Dept. had more to add. Pickard said Benson and several of his associates were detained "briefly" and Benson had only $70,000 in his possession - not $200,000 - and no money was taken from him. See the press statement after the cut... Here is Well Fargo's official statement: On January 8, 2016, Atlanta Police Officers were dispatched to the Wells Fargo Bank, 3235 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, Georgia. The 911 caller stated that a male was trying to cash a forged check valued at $24,000. The description of the male provided to police was limited and conflicting. |
