Passenger burnt beyond recognition in Enugu expressway car crash

Two persons died in a multiple car crash that occurred at Ugwuonyeama on the Enugu-Onitsha road yesterday Friday January 8th at about 7.30am. According to the spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, the crash involved 4 buses, a Hilux van and two cars. She also said the cause of the accident has not been established and that one of them was burnt beyond recognition.

A commercial driver identified as Kehinde Akangbi has been accused of setting his 22 year old son, Sola ablaze for allegedly stealing from a roadside beggar in Omu-Aran in Kwara state.

According to a report by Vanguard, Sola who is a Wheelbarrow pusher and alleged troublemaker, was accused of stealing money from roadside beggars. He was apprehended and then taken to his father who allegedly took him to the bush at Omu-Aran-Isanlu-Isin road where he tied his hands and leg and then set him on fire. Sola, who was still alive when he was rescued, told his rescuers that his father was responsible for the act. He was rushed to the Ajisafe Hospital, Omu-Aran where he was treated for high degree burns. He passed away as the fire had burnt most parts of his body.

The mother of the deceased, Rachael, who was at the hospital when her son died, expressed her sadness at the allegation that her son's father who she has since separated from, carried out such an act on their son.

The Kwara state Police Public Relation Officer Ajayi Okunsanmi confirmed the incident and said the suspect was already in police custody and that investigation was ongoing.

Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka says the current anti-corruption fight by the federal government has revealed an unprecedented level of corruption that has never been recorded in Nigeria before. Soyinka said this when the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, paid him a courtesy visit at his home in Lagos today January 9th.


"We have not had a case where it had been alleged and increasingly proven that money supposed to be spent on defending ourselves, our nation, our neighbourhood, has been shared among individuals. We never had experience where we were in a state of critical emergency where children are being kidnapped under our noses. Never had there been a situation where we are helpless and our soldiers are sent to the front to defend our very existence and we are not backing them up with conduct that shows integrity and commitment. Because of these reasons, corruption is really desperate and has chosen to fight back, but I am confident that corruption will be tackled," Soyinka said.

Zestah September was killed by her soldier boyfriend. Her body was found mutilated and burnt and mutilated on the side of the road in Lenasia, south of Johannesburg. See Facebook post from a year ago unaware that it was going to be her fate. Zestah was laid to rest today at the Lenisa Cemetary.
 

DSS invites Faleke, and late Audu Abubakar's son

The political climate in Kogi state appears to be far from being stable as officials of the Department of State Security today invited the former deputy candidate to late Prince Audu Abubakar, James Faleke ‎for questioning.
 
According to a report by Vanguard, the invitation according to sources is a security measure by the DSS to checkmate any possible breakdown of law and order during the January 27th inauguration of the governor-elect of the state Yahaya Bello. 
Faleke lost the APC ticket in the state governorship supplementary election to Yahaya following the death of Prince Audu Abubakar. Faleke and his supporters has consistently kicked against this position and has dragged INEC before a High Court for accepting his replacement by his party. 

Also invited to the DSS office is the son of late Prince Audu Abubakar, Mohammed Audu.

Former governor of old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo renewed his vows with his second wife, Patricia, at a Catholic church today January 8th. Nwobodo who was a staunch Anglican, first married Patricia in an Anglican Communion in the early 80 but moved over to a Catholic church today after he fell out with the leadership of Communion following the death of his first son Ifeanyi last year.

Nwobodo, who was at loggerheads with his first wife and Ifeanyi's mother, had insisted that his son must not be buried in his compound in his village in Anambra, a move that caused him and his former church to fall apart.

Nwobodo was such a devote Anglican to the extent that he single-handedly built the multi-million naira St. Mathew's Anglican Church in his hometown, Amechi, Awkunanaw in the 70s.

A theme park in Chongqing, China recently came up with a new sightseeing bus which allows tourists to feed animals from the bus. The tourists can feed meat or live chicken to lions and tigers, or give apples to bears. As you can see from the photos, these tourists were scared shitless when the animals came rather too close and jumped to grab their meals. More photos after the cut...

Man's 1-day old baby dies and he shares photos of her burial on FB (photos)

A guy named Austin Nnaji took to his Facebook page to announce the death of his one day old baby. He shared a photo of when the baby was just born (above) and when she was being buried. He wrote
"RIP to my lovely angel olivia bethel. She was delivered through operation on 5th January 5pm and died on 6th January 5am all in this January 2016.. may her gentle innocent soul rest in peace amen. Olivia, daddy loves you but God knows the best for you and I miss you"

A hunter killed a mountain lion...and saw a deformity never seen before (photo)

A hunter in Idaho who killed a mountain lion involved in an attack on a dog discovered the lion had a beastly deformity. A set of fangs and whiskers were growing out of its head. A pic released Thursday by Idaho Fish and Game shows the big cat had another set of fully-formed teeth and whiskers growing out of the top of its head.

Wildlife officials say they have never seen a deformity like that but have offered up several theories. One explanation put forth is that it may be a conjoined that died in the womb and its remnants merged into the other twin. Another explanation is a so-called "teratoma" tumor.

This type of abnormality, whose Greek name translates to "monster tumor," can grow teeth and hair. In humans, it can grow fingers and toes.

The funeral service for Palesa Madiba is ongoing at University of Johannesburg, South Africa. 22-year-old Madiba disappeared in August 2013 after spending the weekend at a friend's house. In December 2015, her skeletal remains were discovered in a shallow grave in the backyard of a house in Phiri, Soweto. Read story here

Metuh: 'Holding Charge Illegal’- PDP Tells EFCC, FG

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the continued incarceration of its spokesman, Chief Olisa Metuh by the EFCC since Tuesday, without charging him to court, clearly shows the dictatorial character of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC Federal Government, which has not hidden its disdain for rule of law and an appetite to gag the opposition.

The party said the continued detention is in clear breach of Chief Metuh's constitutionally guaranteed liberty and fundamental rights.

The PDP in a statement signed by the National Legal Adviser, Barr. Victor Kwon on Saturday stressed that relying on a purported 'holding charge' said to have been derived from a Magistrate to detain Chief Metuh beyond the statutory period allowed by the law is in total violation of the constitution and extant corresponding rulings by several trial and appellate courts in the country.

"We draw the attention of all Nigerians and the international community to this illegal clamp-down on the opposition spokesman by the EFCC, using a purported holding charge said to have been derived from a magistrate court.

"Holding Charge which implies 'arrest before investigation' instead of 'investigation before arrest' is clearly an aberration and abuse of judicial process which has since been declared by several courts as illegal, null and void, and of no effect as it is totally in contradiction with section 35 (1), (4), (5a) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

"The PDP is particularly worried that Chief Metuh, since his arrest on Tuesday, is being inhumanly kept in an underground cell where he is daily threatened by officials, who we gathered, have been mounting pressure on him to accept guilt of fictitious figures and implicate PDP leaders.

"The public is very much aware that the EFCC Chairman has visited the Presidential villa at least twice since Chief Metuh was arrested and detained by the commission, ostensibly to get further directives on the case.

"We invite the world to note that President Buhari's election promise of fighting corruption has now been turned into a man-hunt of PDP leaders, while known corrupt APC leaders are being shielded by the system and rewarded with ministerial positions and other government appointments.

"Our nation is now being turned into a police state with its inherent constitutional violations and infringement on rights of citizens, a scenario which poses grave danger to national stability and survival of our democracy.

"The PDP strongly cautions against the avoidable tension and looming political crisis over the continuous clamp-down on our leaders and particularly, the continued incarceration of our spokesperson, Chief Olisa Metuh, who was arrested a few days after he confronted the Federal Government and the APC over their dictatorial pronouncements and actions.

"Our teeming members across the country have so far exercised reasonable restrain, but we caution that there is a limit to what they can stomach in the face of this brazen persecution of our spokesman. The President Buhari-led APC government and the EFCC should therefore hold themselves responsible should there be any breakdown of law and order in the land over this matter.

"We therefore reinforce our demand on the EFCC to respect the course of law and release Chief Metuh immediately or charge him to court in line with the provisions of our laws if it strongly feels it has a case against him.

"Nigerians cannot afford to return to the era of dictatorship where constitutional provisions, respect for lawful processes and personal freedom of citizens under the law are trampled upon. Their response to this might come with very dire consequences.

A Tamil Nadu woman, who had resisted a Madras High Court suggestion to marry the man she accused of raping her when she was a minor, was forced to marry him. (pictured with her daughter)..

On December 29, 2015, tired of the court battles, the 22-year-old woman returned to him with her daughter born out of the rape after his conviction was set aside by another High Court judge and her case sent back to the lower court. She told the Cuddalore Mahila Court that she had married the accused after a settlement and they were now living together. The case was therefore closed and the man acquitted by the court.

Last June, Justice D Devadass, citing religion and its capacity for reconciliation, had referred her case for mediation with the accused. But the woman had slammed the order:

"Did the judge ever think how I suffered all these years? He knew I had a baby from that rape. And now this single order of his wants me to go through that suffering again."

In October, Justice A Selvam set aside the man's conviction and the fine imposed on him. He referred the case back to the Cuddalore court for fresh trial on an appeal filed by the man who claimed the girl was a "major" when they had a "consensual" relationship.

The victim said she was 15 when she was raped in 2008. Her parents passed away and she became the mother of a child born from the rape. The man was convicted and fined Rs 2 lakh by the Cuddalore Mahila Court in 2014 based on evidence that included DNA samples.

Last October, when the man's second appeal was being heard by the High Court, the prosecution submitted the woman's school transfer certificate to prove she was only 15 when she was raped, and that sex with a minor was rape under the law.
 
But Justice Selvam observed that the trial court had only relied on her oral submission and had failed to examine documents establishing her age. Justice Selvam referred the case back to the lower court for verification of her age and also set aside the man's conviction. The trial court was directed to refund the fine and compensation sum that had been paid by the accused.

The woman's brother told The Indian Express that she was "helpless" after the second High Court order.

"After the HC referred her case back to Cuddalore, the court summoned officials to verify the authenticity of her birth certificate. The proceedings went on for days. One day, she took her child to the court and said she will marry him and go with him.
 
"The last HC order had dashed her hopes. I was struggling without a job, and she felt she was being a burden, dependent on me. She knew he (the accused) was trying to marry her only to escape conviction. He succeeded," her brother said.

Justice K Chandru, a retired High Court judge, said being the appellate authority, the High Court could have verified the documents proving the girl's age within a week or two instead of referring back her case and releasing the convict."

23yr old man rapes & murders stunning lawyer who let him stay at her home & called him cousin

Stunning and talented City lawyer, 31 year old Elizabeth Nnyanzi, was attacked, raped and strangled to death by 23 year old Peter Kibisu, a BMW mechanic, who was lodging at her family's 600,000 pounds home in London. Elizabeth, who studied medicine at Imperial College London before switching to follow in her father's footsteps as a lawyer, lived in the house with her parents and two sisters. She was killed in her bedroom in August 2015 by Peter, who she referred to as her cousin..

 

The killer who faced a judge on Jan. 7th, and now facing life behind bars, admitted in court to raping his close friend, Elizabeth, who went Cheltenham Ladies' College, before strangling her to death while she was home alone. He was arrested a day after the murder..

He pleaded guilty to both her murder and rape and faces sentencing on February 1st.

Miss Nnyanzi, originally from Uganda, had carried out volunteering work in a hospital in Uganda, for months last year. She was an avid singer and loved life

The fashionable church building is located in the Southwest Coast Scenic Area in Taiwan. The huge high-heel shoe is 17m high and 11m wide, and made of 320 pieces of glass.
 

According to the administrative office of the building, this church might look very stylish but it also blends with tradition. In tradition, the bride needs to wear high-heels to tread on tiles and then throw away the shattered pieces before stepping in the bridegroom's family, which signifies the end to past misfortunes and the beginning of a better life. 


They decided to build a high-heel shoe-like church for couples to get married and take wedding photos. The church is expected to open in February of this year during the annual Spring Festival.

Man catches a guy who duped him two years ago outside a bank in Surulere...and grabs him (photos)

Here's what happened according to a LIB source. 2 years ago, a man duped another guy of N700,000 in Ojuelegba, Surulere and disappeared. The guy who was duped was even arrested and locked up for 10 days after the money went missing because nobody believed he'd been duped. Fast forward to two years later, this week.. the guy was coming out of a bank in Aguda, Surulere when he spotted the guy that scammed him. He immediately raised an alarm and held on to the guys trousers. He managed to drag the alleged scammer to his house where his friends slapped him around and then called the police, who came and took him away.
