Tompolo distances self from militants who blew oil installations in Delta today

Former Niger Delta warlord, Government Ekpemupolo also known as Tompolo, has distanced himself from the attack on oil installations by yet to be identified militants in some parts of Delta state in the early hours of today January 15th. In an interview with The Nation, Tompolo who spoke through his spokesperson, Paul Bebenimibo, said;


"I am not responsible for the attack and I condemn it as a dastardly act. I am aware that some persons might want to destroy oil installations and link it with me that was why I said before time that I have nothing to do with it. I could not have gone ahead to carry out such action knowing that every finger will be pointed at me because of my case with the Federal Government," he said

Customs boss orders officers to declare assets in 14 days

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Hammed Ali, has directed all officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service to declare their assets within 14 days. The order was stated in a circular signed by the comptroller-general and sent out to all deputy comptrollers-general, zonal coordinators and customs area controllers.

Hameed in the circular said the directive which must be complied with, is a way of ensuring transparency and compliance with the rule of law within the parastatal. The circular stated that the directive was in compliance with "the Bank Employees Declaration of Assets Act Cap B1 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004".

Although the act is meant for bank employees, Hameed in the circular, stated that the president is also empowered to extend its application to other workforce.

"Specifically, Section 12 (1) states that "The provision of this act shall apply to the comptroller-general, deputy comptroller-general, assistant comptroller-general, chief collector, principal collector and other officer, staff or employee of the Nigeria Customs Service as it applies to a chief executive or an employee of a bank," said the circular.

Mum horrified as 2yr old daughter was found wandering streets alone after escape from her nursery

A mum was shocked when her two-year-old daughter was found wandering the streets alone after escaping from a nursery. She went to pick her daughter - Casey Mae Brown from Tiddlywinks Day Nursery in Manchester but discovered she had walked out the doors.

According to Manchester Evening News, a parent from a nearby School found her walking on the streets, about two minutes away from the nursery. Her mum was shocked on how her daughter had been allowed to walk through a door and two gates without being stopped - and didn't even have a coat on. The said nursery is at the top of a hill and she was found at the bottom.

The nursery didn't have a clue on what had really happened.

"The nursery only apologised after I pushed them. They let her go. They say she probably tailgated another parent, which is irrelevant. She got out because of lack of attention from the staff. Thank goodness someone found her. I've pulled her out of the nursery. I don't feel like she's safe. It was a really busy time of day, with loads of cars around on the school run.'

The nursery accepted responsibility only after her mum immediately pulled her out of the nursery and made an official complaint. According to management, an investigation was immediately launched - and members of staff hauled in for disciplinary meetings.

"We have conducted our own internal investigation and have initiated disciplinary proceedings against the members of staff concerned. We have since reviewed our systems for entering and exiting the newly built separate sectional care modular building to ensure this cannot happen again."

The Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration in Adamawa State began with Governor Mohammed Jibrilla visiting the Graves of over 150 soldiers killed during operations in the state.
 
After the laying of wreath by the Governor and Brigade Commander of the 23rd Armoured Brigade, Col. ABA Popoola, the Governor interacted with widows of the dead soldiers and promised to assist them.

Comedian Emmanuel Iwueke, popularly known as Craze Clown, has joined pop stars, Phyno and Skuki as well as SuperSport pundit, Segun Agbede as NairaBET brand ambassador.

The announcement was made at their Lekki head office a few days ago and was followed by celebrations to mark the occasion.

NairaBET is the pioneer sports betting outfit in Nigeria and is licensed and regulated by the Lagos State Lotteries Board.

On the his new appointment Craze Clown said:
"I am very excited and glad to be joining Phyno and Skuki on this journey, there is so much I could do with and on this platform." While responding, NairaBET CEO, Otunba Akin Alabi said he was inspired to follow through with his decision after rubbing minds with Craze Clown. He said: "Craze is a brilliant actor and I think with this partnership, a lot could be done that would be beneficial to both parties."

Wife of former captain and chief coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi was laid buried today, Friday Jan. 15. Late Kate Keshi (nee Abureme) died on December 9, 2015, in the U.S. after a long battle with cancer. She was ‎laid to rest at her husband's house at Ugiokhuen Quarters, Ugbor, GRA, in Benin, after a ‎requiem mass held at St. Paul Catholic Church, Airport Road.


‎She is survived by her husband, four children, her mother, brother, sisters and numerous relatives. The service was attended by family members and friends, including government officials, football administrators and sports journalists.‎

American rapper Mos Def told to leave South Africa after arrest for using a fake passport

American rapper and actor Mos Def has reportedly been ordered to leave South Africa after being arrested for using fraudulent travel documents including a "World Passport".

The star, whose real name is Dante Smith and also known as Yasiin Bey, appeared in court for 'allegedly contravening the country's immigration laws' after his arrest at Cape Town International Airport yesterday.
According to Eye Witness News, department of home affairs spokesperson, Mayihlome Tshwete, confirmed that the rapper has been "charged with usage of fraudulent travel documents and that the matter is currently before the courts."

Mayihlome also took to Twitter to explain the situation and wrote: "The Department Of Home Affairs has given Mr Smith and his family 14 days to leave the republic.
"Mr Smith was departing SA using a "World Passport", SA does not recognise a "World Passport".
"Mr Smith has been living in SA with his family without the necessary permits, he was detained upon departure for using illegal travel docs."
He added: "With regards 2 Mr Smith (Mos Def), SAPS has charged him with usage of fraudulent traveldocuments.The matter is currently before the courts.

The 42-year-old artist is said to have been living in Cape Town for the past few years.

A couple (a young couple comprising a male and a female) was seen engaging in a brazen, no-clothes sex at the security post of the Road 1 gate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. They were seen at a vantage spot, where the roads meet, engaging in the act without regard to the timing and people, increasingly gathering. They allegedly rode on a bike through the gate, alighting at the security post premises.
They immediately got undressed to the last piece (if you know what that means), placed their phones on the ground and started the sexcrobatics, which an eye-witness claimed was more of a scene out of an amateur pornography movie. While people gathered, they continued. They were futile, the initial efforts to extricate them. Call it rape, I'll disagree. Call it 'by consent', I'll be indifferent. Call it hypnosis of any act, I'll most likely agree because as much as the man's tool was being forcefully extricated, the lady seemed to be drawing towards the man like she would pass out if deprived of that act at that time and under such circumstances. An anonymous source said the lady sells footwears in Ile-Ife. Whatever the cause of this, it leaves more questions unanswered, which hopefully should get resolved once the police vehicle seen blasting siren as it drove to the scene was conveying policemen who were actually policemen.

A couple of months into her reign, and with no end in sight to the positive impacts being left in the lives of many, Ebelechukwu Enemchukwu is constantly fulfilling the promises she made a few months ago upon being crowned Mrs. Nigeria United Nations and Mrs. Tourism United Nations World in Abuja, Nigeria and Kingston, Jamaica respectively.

Since being crowned as both National and International Queen, it's been from one act of love to another for the corporate executive mother of three. While the impact of her past charity projects is still being felt, Ebele has continued to extend the kindness. Only recently, the Beauty Queen contributed in both kind and time, to the continued upkeep of the S.O.S. Children's Village, Isolo and Modupe Cole Treatment Home, Akoka. Special thanks to Maria Svensson and Pastor Christian Ike for their support towards this.

Other recent activities include her visits to Edidot Schools, Awoyaya and Chrisland Schools, V.G.C. where inspirational lectures and educative games were delivered to the amazing future leaders to further prepare them for tomorrow.

One can only pray for God to continue to provide her with the strength, time, willingness, health and resources to do much more, this year and beyond.

2016 budget is a carbon copy of Goodluck Jonathan's budget - Charles Soludo

Prof. Charles Soludo has described the 2016 budget presented by President Buhari as a replica of the one by former president Goodluck Jonathan. The former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) stated this while speaking at the 13th Daily Trust Dialogue in Abuja, on Thurs Jan 14.
"The present budget is more of the same to the previous ones. Mr. Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, If you scale your budget on the scale of GDP, it is almost the same with the previous government," 
"It has a historic 37% deficit as we never had it before. The truth is that you are borrowing 37% with only 30 per cent on capital projects",
"To craft the new agenda, we must defeat the old agenda. We cannot make progress in the country with the tools and agenda of the old," Soludo said  
He added that the APC-led government was over-following the fall in the price of crude oil globally and further advised the present administration of the need to evolve a coherent economic plan and agenda as well as the right political architecture, stressing that anything less than this would mean that the leaders are building on a quicksand.
