Crystal Palace 0-3 Chelsea: Defending champions get back on track (EPL Round-up) Posted: 03 Jan 2016 12:55 PM PST Chelsea got back to winning ways with an emphatic victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday after hitting three past Crystal Palace. With this 3-0 win, Chealsea recorded their biggest win of the season after Oscar, Willian and Diego Costa delivered the goods with an all round impressive team performance over their London Neighbours. The resurgence of John Obi Mikel, preferred to Nemanja Matic in central midfield by Hiddink must be appreciated by all as the interim manager declared him the 'ideal' player to bring balance to Chelsea. Mikel showed power and authority showing his dominance in key battles in Chelsea's midfield area. Crystal Palace without several of its best attacking players, found it difficult to create clear chances and have not scored in three games since Boxing Day. They worked into some promising situations and yet lacked quality on the final pass. Zaha flashed one effort wide in the opening minutes, but Thibaut Courtois was not extended until he denied the same player with nearly an hour gone. Within seconds of the save, Chelsea extended the lead. With this victory,Chelsea have moved out of the relegation zone. |

Posted: 03 Jan 2016 12:18 PM PST Somali terror group Al Shabaab has released a new video featuring a footage of Donald Trump's controversial call to ban Muslims from entering the U.S. The video released in English and Arabic by the al-Qaida affiliated terror group on Friday criticizes racism and anti-Muslim sentiment in America and features footage of Republican presisidential candidate Donald Trump announcing a plan to bar Muslims from entering the country. The video was part of a series dedicated to Somali-American jihadis from Minnesota and one Canadian who died on the battlefield in Somalia. The video was authenticated by the SITE Intelligence Group, which studies jihadi propaganda, and it appeared to be aimed at the African-American community. Citing "historical injustices" against African-Americans, including police brutality and racial profiling, the video urged them to convert to Islam and engage in jihad at home or abroad. In addition to footage of Mr Trump, the video, which is 51 minutes long, included excerpts from speeches by Malcolm X and unnamed white supremacists, as well as footage of white police officers, African-Americans protesting police brutality and African-American men in prison. Some appeared to be performing Islamic prayers. Using footage of Anwar al-Awlaki, an American member of a Qaida affiliate who was killed in a US drone attack in 2011, the video also said the United States was gripped by a "malignant hatred" of Islam. |

They used an old New Year Eve tradition "Ano Viego" to show their anger. It's a Colombian tradition to burn dolls at New Years day. Thousands of dolls get made but this time some people decided to add a Steve Harvey effigy to the mix. In fact Harvey was the most popular doll this year. Also burnt were effigy of Miss Universe, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach. The term, "Año Viejo," literally means old year in Spanish. In Central and South America, the tradition is to make a doll that represents things you hate from the previous year and thus, you're burning it away at midnight and basically letting it go. It is believed that the act wards off bad luck in the coming year. Watch the video below... |

"Gays and lesbians are worse than dogs" he wrote on his Facebook account. "Arresting them won't address this problem because sooner or later they are being released on bail. The best way to deal with this problem is to KILL THEM!"He also lashed out at the country's media houses for giving the homosexuals a platform to express their views. "It is pathetic to see our media houses parading these dogs on TV and newspapers hiding behind human rights-human rights my foot! THE DEVIL HAS NO RIGHTS!," Msonda added in anger.Source: Nyasa Times |

Palestinian poet sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia for Apostasy Posted: 03 Jan 2016 04:29 AM PST On November 17, 2015, Palestinian artist and poet Ashraf Fayadh was sentenced to death for apostasy for alleged blasphemous statements he made during a discussion group and in his poetry book. The judge ruled that Fayadh's repentance was not enough to avoid the death sentence. According to Fahmy Foundation, Palestinian artist and poet Ashraf Fayadh was detained at a café in Abha in southern Saudi Arabia in August 2013. Members of Saudi Arabia's Committee on the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, also known as the religious morality police, arrested him after a man reported that Fayadh made insulting public comments about God, the Prophet Mohamed, and Saudi Arabia. The same man added that Fayadh passed around a poetry book he wrote that allegedly promoted atheism. He was released after one day. Fayadh was arrested again on January 1, 2014, and charged with a number of apostasy-related offenses, including denouncing Allah himself," and the Prophet Mohammed, spreading atheism and promoting it to the youth, refuting the Koran and the Day of Resurrection, and indulging in illicit relationships with women and saving their photos on his phone. Fayadh denied all the charges and stated that he met the women in an art gallery. According to Human Rights Watch, on May 26, 2014, the General Court of Abha convicted Fayadh and sentenced him to four years in prison and 800 lashes. The court rejected the prosecutor's request for a death sentence for blasphemy based on court testimony indicating "hostility" between Fayadh and the man who reported him, and it cited Fayadh's statement of repentance made in court. Excerpts from his poetry book,Instructions Witihin, published in 2008 and banned in Saudi Arabia, were used against him in court to support the charges. The prosecutor appealed the ruling and the case was eventually sent back to the lower court. Fayadh is Saudi-born and remains officially stateless. He is a member of the British-Saudi art collective Edge of Arabia and has been credited with curating art shows in Jeddah and the Venice Biennale to promote the work of Saudi contemporary artists. In 2013 he curated "Mostly Visible,"an exhibition in Jeddah that brought together the work of 30 artists. "They accused me of atheism and spreading some destructive thoughts in society," said Fayadh to The Guardian newspaper. He added that his book, Instructions Within, was "just about me being [a] Palestinian refugee, about cultural and philosophical issues. But the religious extremists explained it as destructive ideas against God." Fayadh stated that he was not able to appoint a lawyer because his ID was confiscated during his initial arrest in 2014. He also confirmed that the judge never spoke to him in court before announcing the verdict. |
