Did Genevieve Nnaji ever say Van Vicker doesn't know how to act?

Posted: 10 Mar 2014 12:11 PM PDT

In a recent interview with Nigerian Tribune, the Ghanaian actor addressed something Genevieve Nnaji allegedly said, that he's not a good actor. I doubt Genevieve would said this openly but read Van Vinker's response below...
I read the article but I wasn't bothered about it because that was her opinion, and she is entitled to it. I never responded to it, and I don't think I will. Nevertheless, I don't have any ill feelings towards her. Now, whether her opinion has changed or is still the same, it doesn't make much of a difference to me, because I know I am a fantastic actor and I am doing what I am doing with passion. I am enjoying it and I'm making the best I can of it.
Having said that, if I am given a job to do and she is involved, I would do the job. I won't say because she said this, I won't do the job.
If I meet her at a function or on a movie shoot, I'll ask her; but I won't do it through the media. Some of these things people write in the papers or on the blogs are not even true; it's possible they twisted her words. They do it to me all the time, so it's possible they did that to her. But when I meet her personally, I will ask her if she did say that. And if she did, the conversation will continue, as to why she said it and how she said it"

One of the pioneers of makeup artistry in Nigeria and founder/CEO of House of Tara, Tara Fela Durotoye says by the end of 2014, she would be commissioning her 30th makeup studio in Nigeria.

She recently opened her 16th studio in Lekki Lagos and says she is working to expand her studio number to 30...
"Before the end of the yer, we are going to be opening our 30th studio, which means we are going to have another 16 studio across Nigeria. Someone may say its a quick expansion plan. It has taken us 16years to build 16 branches, by now we should have mastered what it takes for us to build a branch and if we work on that and focus for the next ten months, we will see the rapid expansion. I just came back from my Grandmother's funeral and NTA Asaba was interviewing me and they asked, you are from Delta state and you don't have a branch here, I was really embarrassed. Thankfully I just laughed it off that I was going to open a branch there this year. We are going to be in the capital city Asaba, Warri, Enugu Polo Park, Ibadan Palms and in different malls in Nigeria" Tara told City People.

'Bury my books with me' - OAU student who committed suicide

Posted: 10 Mar 2014 05:10 AM PDT

The last note by Dipo Ige, the 400l law student of Obafemi Awolowo University, who committed suicide last Monday (Read it here), was that his books should be buried with him, Punch reports.

Ige was buried yesterday Sunday March 9th at his hometown in Iree, Osun State.

Punch reports that in his suicide note which they obtained, Ige asked that his girlfriend should not be blamed for his death. Friends of Ige had earlier said he committed suicide because the lady dumped him.

Part of the note read, "As I plan to end my life, please bury my books with me. My reason for this action is best known to me. Please don't blame my girlfriend (name withheld). She knows nothing about this. Share my properties accordingly to…"

Fresh facts, however, emerged on Sunday that Ige sent a message to his mum before his action. It was learnt that due to network problem, the message did not get to his mum until over an hour after it was sent.

A close friend to Ige, who pleaded anonymity narrated, "That day about 9pm, Ige sent a text message to his mum. He told her to come to Ile-Ife immediately, adding that any delay could mean that the mum would meet him dead.

"When she eventually got the message around 10pm, she immediately alerted his close friend, Bola Okiji, to check on him. Unfortunately, Okiji was not in Ile-Ife, he was at Ilesha.

"The mum sent another lady living close to him to check him. The lady met Ige's door locked. She peeped through the key hole and saw Ige, who appeared lifeless. She screamed, broke the door and raised the alarm, which attracted the neighbours."

However, Okiji insisted that his friend hung himself because of "academics love."
He said Ige was a brilliant student in second class upper grade before his death.

Trader arrested for operating 25 Zenith Bank accounts with different identities

Posted: 10 Mar 2014 08:53 AM PDT

39-year-old trader, Okonkwo Nwachukwu (pictured above), has been arrested by the Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, after it was discovered that he had opened 25 savings accounts with Zenith Bank, under different identities.

The Special Fraud Unit spokesperson, DSP Ngozi Isintume-Agu, said the SFU Commissioner of Police had received a petition from the bank on February 12, 2014.
"The petition alleged that Nwachukwu had appeared at the Amuwo Odofin branch of Zenith Bank to open a savings account and presented an already completed savings account opening package with the name, Obiozor Ifeanyi, and identified himself as such with a National Identity Card.
"While the Customer Service office was checking the documents, Nwachukwu allegedly went to the Marketing Unit and collected another savings account opening package and completed same with another name, Ogueji Nnamdi. He allegedly returned to the Customer Service Desk and presented same for account opening with another National Identity Card bearing Ogueji Nnamdi."
The Customer Service Officer reportedly became suspicious with the unsuspecting Nwachukwu's attempt to open another savings account within minutes with another identity. He then searched the bank's system with Nwachukwu's phone number and it was discovered that he already possessed about 25 savings accounts at various branches under different names.

The statement added, "It was further alleged that Nwachukwu also operated a corporate account with number 1012000129, belonging to Chukon Integrated Limited, and he also identified himself as Okonkwo Nwachukwu when he opened the said account.

"A native of Okija Ihiala LGA of Anambra State, Nwachukwu is into cargo business and owns an office at Block 4, Shop 169 A.P.T. Market Trade Fair, Lagos."

Nwachukwu reportedly explained that the multiple accounts he opened was to enable him run his business successfully. He said he had N50,000 each in 15 different accounts, while the remaining ones had N20,000, N10,000 and N5,000 respectively.

He allegedly blamed the cashless policy of the CBN for his actions, saying that he was not permitted to withdraw a huge sum of money in one account and as such, he was advised to open multiple accounts to spread his money.

The police said the action was meant to defraud financial institutions and unsuspecting members of the public.

The suspect alleged that the National Identity Card and PHCN bills used in opening his multiple accounts were forged by one Pepper who is at large.

He also claimed that he had come back from China on January 27, 2014 and started the multiple account opening from February 5, to 7, 2014 when he was apprehended.

SFU Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zubairu Muazu, commended the management of Zenith Bank for their discovery and advised other banks to be at alert to such scammers "who work as a syndicate to defraud members of the public.

"Investigation is ongoing to unravel more about the suspect's motive behind the multiple account opening," Isintume-Agu added.

Photos: Meet some of the passengers on missing Malaysian plane

Posted: 10 Mar 2014 04:19 AM PDT

Yesterday a Vietnamese search team said they had found what they believe is part of a door and an airplane's tail, but today, the Malaysian Civil Aviation Chief said it was a false alarm as nothing from the missing plane has been found.
"Unfortunately we have not found anything that appears to be objects from the aircraft, let alone the aircraft. As far as we are concerned, we have to find the aircraft, we have to find a piece of the aircraft if possible.' he told a news conference today.
It's also been revealed that aside from 2 passengers boarding the plane using stolen passports, 5 other passengers checked on to the flight but did not board the plane. Their baggage was removed before the plane departed.

Dozens of ships and aircraft from seven countries are searching the seas around Malaysia and south of Vietnam, but so far nothing.

People are speculating that maybe the plane was hijacked, flew under the radar, to land somewhere. If this happened then it means the passengers are alive somewhere, but this theory is very unlikely.  Continue to see photos of some of the passengers on the missing plane...

Australian nationals Catherine and Robert Lawton, from Brisbane, were on the flight

Missing Malaysian plane: Search team find plane door and tail

Posted: 09 Mar 2014 11:50 PM PDT

A Vietnamese search team has found what they believe is part of a door and an airplane's tail in the first major breakthrough in the hunt for missing Boeing 777 flight aircraft, Wall Street Journal reports

Debris from the plane have been located around 50 miles from south-west of Tho Chu Island, and investigators are narrowing the focus of their inquiries on the possibility that the plane disintegrated in mid-flight. (Pic above shows what is believed to be a piece of debris of missing airplane)
'The fact that we are unable to find any debris so far appears to indicate that the aircraft is likely to have disintegrated at around 35,000 feet,' someone who is involved in the investigations in Malaysia said Sunday. Continue...
Meanwhile, one of the men whose passport was stolen and used by a passenger on the missing flight, 37 year old Italian tourist Luigi Maraldi, had a press conference at a police station in Phuket island, southern Thailand yesterday and explained how his passport was stolen in July 2013 on the island of Phuket. Thankfully, he reported his passport stolen and police have the record.

Yesterday, Luigi's father explained the original was stolen after his son used it to hire a motorbike.
'Last summer he was in Thailand and handed over the passport so he could hire a scooter but when he brought it back, they said they had already given it back to someone else, so he reported it stolen. The whole thing is a mix up - we have no idea who the person was that used my son's passport. The first I knew something had happened was when my son rang from Thailand on Saturday morning to say he was alive.
The owner of the other stolen passport is 30 year old Austrian citizen Christian Kozel, who only discovered his name was on the passenger manifest when police officers turned up at his home in Salzburg at the weekend.
'I was pretty shocked when I saw them at my door, and was relieved to find out that although I was dead, at least it was only on paper.' Christian said.
He also reported his passport stolen in 2012. The passport was stolen in the same part of Thailand
