Olamide denies expecting a baby with longtime girlfriend Posted: 25 Mar 2014 10:28 AM PDT So I wrote a story today that Olamide is expecting a baby with his longtime girlfriend, Adebukunmi Aisha Suleiman. Someone in his camp put the story out because I am not the only news source to carry it, but anyway, Olamide has denied that this is true. He took to twitter about an hour ago to lash out at me. See Tweets below... I feel like one, he's been waiting for the moment to lash out at me..lol. Which is fine. And two, I also see he's mad that I don't post his songs and videos on my blog. If I'm not posting it, it's because no one is sending to me...I'm a huge fan so.... Oh and love you too, boo! *wink* |

Update on Ibadan House of Horror: victims recount how they were kidnapped Posted: 25 Mar 2014 09:58 AM PDT Some victims rescued from the house of horror in the Soka area of Ibadan in Oyo, who have started gradually regaining their sanity, have recounted how they found themselves at the kidnappers den. Speaking with a Punch reporter, one of the victims, Nafiu Shittu, said he was a busy selling his locally made pile medicine when he was kidnapped and brought into the forest 4 months ago. "I am a native of Ibadan, living in the Foko area of the city. I sold pile medicine to people. I was doing the business on the day I was kidnapped about four months ago. After going round the area where I had customers, I felt tired and decided to rest in the Gate area. Suddenly, a bus stopped by my side and two men came out and forced me into the back seat of the vehicle. That was all I could remember. When I regained consciousness, I saw myself in a room in the forest, chained to a wall. I was too tired to struggle and as the days passed, I became frail because I was not given anything to eat."Nafiu who stressed that he was not a mad man and so was not taken to the horror house for treatment, said he saw dead bodies in the place but couldn't confirm if they were killed there or not. Continue... "There were other people, including young and adult women, who cried daily. I saw dead bodies being taken out frequently, but I don't know if they were killed. Maybe they died of hunger. People moved around the building, but I don't know if they knew we were there." Nafiu saidAnother victim, Titi Dokpesi said she was in front of her house when she was grabbed by two men. Meanwhile during his visit to the forest on Monday, the Oyo State Governor, Ajimola Ajimobi ordered that the C of O of the forest land be revoked and the place cleared for visibility and easy access. He expressed shock at the situation, saying this was a case of man's inhumanity to man and ordered a full scale investigation on the matter with a view of bring those involved to book. |

Oscar nominated actor Barkhad Abdi stopped by immigration over ciminal past Posted: 25 Mar 2014 09:24 AM PDT Oscar nominated actor and BAFTA winner Somali-born Barkhad Abdi was stopped by immigration on returning to the US last month after he traveled to London to accept his BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor for his first movie role in Captain Philips. The former limo driver was stopped by US customs officials because of his lengthy criminal record which includes drug possession, card fraud and giving police fake name. He was jailed twice for the offences back in 2012. Star Tribune reports that Barkhad now faces a hearing with Customs and Border protection this week that carries the possibility of deportation. However, a source told the newspaper said it was unlikely that the 28 year old, who is a permanent legal resident in the U.S, would be deported since customs officials usually only do that in the most serious cases. |

Atiku Abubakar refutes corruption allegation at PTDF, shares story Posted: 25 Mar 2014 07:16 AM PDT Former VP Atiku Abubakar took to his website today to address his involvement in the alleged mismanagement of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) during his time in office as the Vice President of Nigeria. In 2006, the former VP was indicted in a Special Forensic investigation over mismanagement and alleged diversion of funds meant for the PTDF. He said he decided to address it today after one of his followers raised the corruption allegations on twitter. Find his response below... I was recently mentioned in a tweet by a follower, @naigerian, who was asking about alleged mismanagement of PTDF funds. For the benefit of @naigerian and other citizens of Nigeria, I will explain how the PTDF was designed to work, and what happened during my time in office. Continue...In order to understand the issue of the PTDF, I should point out that the laws establishing PTDF was designed such that the fund itself could not be directly spent. The PTDF as a fund could only be drawn from profits accruing to that fund. I did approve the placement of $145 million dollars in commercial banks in order to accrue the required interest, which could then be used for PTDF projects. The approval of these funds followed due process. When I was accused of PTDF mismanagement (i.e putting it in private banks to accrue interest), the funds & accrued interests were returned to CBN intact. Not a penny was lost from that money. However, a report was prepared by the EFCC, under pressure from the president, and presented to the FEC, without any response/evidence from myself or witnesses. It is pertinent to note that this report was also put together, following my outcry over N20b requested from the PTDF by the president, which I discovered was being used to fund the third term push. On November 28, 2008, Justice Inumidun Akande of the Lagos High Court established that the EFCC was wrong, and quashed the EFCC report, showing that I did no wrong, as accused by the EFCC, which was doing the bidding of a president who was bent on smearing my name, despite having no evidence. The following news reports is hereby quoted: "Nov. 28, 2006: Court Quashes EFCC Report on PTDF: Justice Inumidun Akande, Lagos High Court declared: "… "There is no evidence before the court to establish that the applicant (former Vice President Atiku Abubakar) was allowed to call witnesses to testify on his behalf to defend the allegation… instead, the 2nd Respondent prepared a report in which he indicted the applicant and others and submitted it to the President (Obasanjo) as if he was the High Court before which the offenders will be prosecuted, establishes lack of fairness." In her judgment, on Nov. 28, 2006, Justice Inumidun Akande of Lagos High Court nullified both the EFCC report and the Administrative Panel of Inquiry report, which indicted former Vice President Atiku Abubakar." The Senate also disagreed with the EFCC report, on may counts. One that stuck out was that having accused me of placing funds in private banks, there was no investigation of the president's placement of funds in UBA, as well as authorisation of loans to UBA from PTDF. The president later borrowed N200m from UBA to purchase Transcorp shares, which was also a conflict of interest. My question has always been: why would a fund that needs to accrue interest be lodged in the CBN? Government should be run like a business. PTDF funds were better kept in private banks, where they could accrue interest. The PTDF accusation was brought against me because I spoke out against diversion of same funds for the third term agenda, and it is a shame the EFCC was used to prosecute that vendetta. I believe EFCC needs to be made truly independent – to fight corruption, without interference from the executive, or anyone. I have since forgiven the people who accused me, including my own friends who have since come to ask for forgiveness. But things must change. We are witnesses today of a respected CBN governor being accused of corruption by government, for blowing the whistle on the theft of $20b. In 5 years, a new generation of young people will believe Mallam Sanusi was a theif, due to the sheer amount of effort by the government to sully his name. So I must ask again: is our country ever going to prosper with these gross abuses of power by her presidents? |

Pres. Jonathan never confirmed withholding of $10b from Federation account - FG Posted: 25 Mar 2014 06:56 AM PDT This is a State House Press release sent by Mr Reuben Abati. Find it below.. (Jonathan pictured at Schiphol Amsterdam airport, Netherlands, on March 22 to attend the Security Summit in The Hague)
At no time during the well-attended reception did President Jonathan also confirm any "irregularities" in the NNPC. Sensational reports in the media to that effect are reckless, mischievous and unprofessional misrepresentations of the President's restatement to the Nigerian community of the Federal Government's position on the allegation that $20 Billion is "missing" from the NNPC or the Federation Account, by reporters who were not at the event or even in Holland at all. President Jonathan's verifiable words while responding to questions from members of the community on the allegation and other domestic issues were clear and unambiguous. After asserting that allegation that various sums - $49.8 Billion, $12 Billion or $20 Billion - were missing are inconsistent and lacked credence, the President's exact words were as follows: "As at the time, the Finance Ministry was saying they had not been able to reconcile only 10 billion dollars. There are issues in NNPC but we are on it." President Jonathan went on to say that to reassure Nigerians of his administration's continued commitment to openness, transparency and probity in the aftermath of the unsubstantiated allegations, the Federal Government had authorised a professional forensic audit of NNPC accounts to clear the air. The Presidency deplores the mischievous and unethical distortion of his comments in the media today. Once again, we urge the media to show greater regard for truth and accuracy when reporting on the President. Reuben Abati Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity) March 25, 2014 |
