| HRH Danjuma Banyonga now Ambassador for Peace... Posted: 15 Mar 2014 11:14 AM PDT  The rich culture of the Donga people of Taraba State was on display penultimate week. The occasion was when His Highness, Dr. Danjuma Banyonga MFR. Garbosa 111, Gara Donga, was appointed as Ambassador for Peace of United Nation's-Polac. It was a unique gathering as UN-Polac Mayor for Peace, Mr Lucky Igbokwe (Don Lulu) presented the Gara Donga with the medal of honor and plaque as the latest UN-Polac Ambassador for Peace. Continue...  Mr. Igbokwe who represented the International President Obong Dr. Halo B. Eton,JP,MP, said the first class chief of the Donga, was chosen based on his track record as a peace maker of note. Expectedly, the event was witnessed by eminent personalities within and outside the state, which had the acting Governor, Alhaji Garba Umar represented by the commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Barrister Musa Tende. In his speech, "The Acting governor reiterated the importance of peace in any community and said the recognition was a symbolic gesture reflecting the Gara Donga as an embodiment of peace". He further called on the people to continue to emulate his ideals for an even development as only at peace time that development is assured. He also urged the people of Donga to learn from the history of wars and always ensure peace in their domain as a tool for development. In his acceptance speech the Gara Donga expressed appreciation to the Trustees of UN-Polac and UNESCO for finding him worthy of the appointment. He described it as an added impetus to several awards on peace in the past while pledging to justify the confidence reposed on him. his words: "I am honoured to be so recorgnised and by UNESCO and UN-Polac. For this honour I promise to continue to make peace as a way of life." As a mark of respect and unity among the people of Donga, several cultural troupes reflecting its diversity, came out in their large numbers to entertain the eminent guests.        |
| Man allegedly blinds married woman because she refused him sex Posted: 15 Mar 2014 10:10 AM PDT  Amaka was seriously injured in her right eye when she was allegedly beaten up by Kingsley at a beauty salon. She said after undergoing several operations, the doctors at Apapa General Hospital confirmed that she cannot see with the eye again. Following the assault, the police at Area 'B' Apapa arrested Kingsley and charged him with assault before Apapa Magistrate's Court after which he was remanded in Kirikiri Prisons in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria. Both Amaka and Kingsley, who is still single, admitted that they were friends but Amaka said they were just friends not lovers.She said she stopped relating with Kingsley when she discovered that he was desperate to have sex with her despite the fact that he knew that she was married and had two kids. She said after several attempts by him to sleep with her failed, he became aggressive and when she noticed that, she started avoiding him. Amaka said Kingsley eventually traced her to a salon at Pen Crescent, Apapa, Lagos where she went to have her hair done and attacked her in front of the beauty shop. "He waited for me outside the salon. When he saw me, he started abusing me after I refused his advances. I replied him and he hit my eye and threw me on the floor. He started hitting his head on my eyes until I started bleeding," she told the court. Amaka said it was their neighbours who came to her rescue and took her to the hospital, while Kingsley immediately started his motorcycle and rode off after attacking her. She alleged that after the attack, Kingsley boasted that nothing would happen to him because he has money to bail himself out of any difficult situation. Amaka reported the case to the police but alleged that she was asked to collect N30,000 for her eye operation in order to settle the matter out of court. Amaka said she had spent over N200,000 on the surgeries but they were not successful. She called on the state government to come to her aid and ensure justice was done in the matter. Meanwhile, when Kingsley was contacted, he admitted attacking Amaka but said he wanted to settle the matter out of court but she refused. When he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty. The presiding magistrate, Mrs O.A Adegbite, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. He was, however, remanded in prison custody pending when he will fulfill his bail conditions The matter was adjourned till 24 March. |

The video, which was released this morning via Emmanuel TV's account on YouTube, details the 'confession of Mustapha' who claims he was sent by the notorious Boko Haram sect with four others to bomb T.B. Joshua's popular multicultural church in Lagos. Still not convinced...lol but watch...! |
| Dad accused of killing his daughter and her girlfriend because they were gay Posted: 15 Mar 2014 09:42 AM PDT   James Larry Cosby has been arrested and charged with two counts of evidence-tampering and police are planning to upgrade his charges to capital murder once they finish their investigation as all fingers point to him as the murderer because evidence has so far shown that the ladies were killed in his home. His daughter died from blows to the head while her girlfriend died from a gunshot wound. Continue...   Britney (left) and Crystal (right) dated for two years before they were murdered It was the girl's mother that suggested to police that James Cosby may have killed the girls because he'd said to her a few times that he hated that his daughter was in lesbian relationship and became enraged after the ladies moved in together. She said father and daughter didn't see eye to eye and argued a lot about her sexuality. Cosby had even once attacked Crystal at his home. Investigators went to the father's house after obtaining a search warrant and found blood and other evidence that suggested something had happened at the home. They found blood on the walls, on the sofa and on the speakers. They also found writings condemning homosexuality. The police officers seized a hammer and noticed a missing window shutter. A similar shutter was found covered in blood and bearing James Cosby's fingerprints next to the women's bodies. Cosby, who has a long criminal history, had been released from prison about five months ago. |
| 6 die in stampede at immigration employment tests venues across Nigeria Posted: 15 Mar 2014 10:30 AM PDT  The Abuja stadium which is to sit not more than 60,000 people had well over 80,000 youths and only one entrance to the stadium was opened for the applicants. It's being reported that at least six people died during a stampede at some of the venues of the poorly coordinated test. The dead are mostly from the Abuja venue. I hear a pregnant woman was among the deceased. The dead applicants have been taken to the National Hospital Abuja morgue. May their souls rest in peace...Amen. It's important to note that these applicants paid N1,000 registration fee and there were over 2 million applicants...you do the calculation, that's about N2billion. We need the Minister of Interior and Comptroller General of Immigration to address what happened today. Continue to see more pics..                     |
| Knorr Taste Quest Episode 9- Naija with a Twist! Posted: 15 Mar 2014 08:44 AM PDT  Its another recap of Nigeria's number one Cooking show, The Knorr Taste Quest. As at last week's episode had 9 contestants (4 ladies and 5 guys) still battling it out for the title of Nigeria's best in Culinary matters as well as Two Million Naira cash prize, a Ford SUV courtesy Coscharis Motors, and lots of Kenwood kitchen equipment from co-sponsors, Kenwood Electronics. Continue...  The theme for the day's task was "Naija with a Twist ", whereby the contestants had to twist their favorite Nigerian flavor and take them to another level with Ingredients such as ; Carrots, Lettuce, Plantain, Yam, Lamb racks, Pepper and Snails. The time limit for this exciting task was 50 minutes. The judges were also clear on how to go about the task, the contestants were to prepare a starter and a main dish, and each protein (Lamb and Snails) must feature in each course. No form of salad/ salad dressing or ketchup was allowed.  For the verdicts, Doom and Moses were unable to complete their tasks (plating of their food) however, the judges agreed that both their food tasted very well especially the lamb and attested that they had the best flavors. Chinelo's snail was said to be the most disgusting snail they had ever tasted, as she didn't wash it, even when lemon was provided for that purpose. Popoola on the other hand was reprimanded for not being creative, as he just presented peppered snail as one of his dishes. Wando's food looked good but the judges said it was a total disaster as they expected more from her while Dixxon and Ojo's meal tasted okay.  Olabode for the first time on the show won the task for the day as the judges said his food tasted well and was excellent. He was rewarded with a cash price of 20,000naira while Charles who was already on probation, was evicted since the judges said his food was a total disaster! What do you think of this episode? | Obesere's marriage still intact despite rape accusation Posted: 15 Mar 2014 01:07 AM PDT  There were reports last week that Obesere's marriage was in trouble after a woman accused him of rape. Obesere said it wasn't rape, but consensual sex. Thing is, he's married and if it was indeed consensual sex, then it means he committed adultery...but despite that revelation, a close friend of the fuji musician said that although his wife was angry about the report, his marriage is still intact.

| Chris Brown jailed after being thrown out of rehab... Posted: 15 Mar 2014 12:24 AM PDT  From TMZ, Chris Brown is in jail right now, because he violated a judge's order by getting booted from the rehab facility where he's been living for nearly 4 months ... TMZ has learned. The judge in the Rihanna beating case ordered Chris to live in the Malibu rehab facility for 90 days to get anger management therapy, and he completed the stint earlier this month. But ... at the last court hearing, the judge modified things and ordered Chris to stay in the facility while the Washington D.C. assault case ran its course.The deal was this ... if Chris left rehab, he would go directly to jail.Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... Brown was thrown out of the rehab facility this morning, for violating "internal rules." We do not know precisely what Chris did, but we're told it did not involve violence or drugs.Sources tell TMZ ... Chris was caught having "an inappropriate relationship" with a female worker at the beginning of the month, but that is NOT why he was thrown out today.As you recall, Chris was previously thrown out of a different facility for throwing a rock at his mom's car window. Chris was picked up by L.A. County Sheriff's deputies this afternoon and is now in jail ...being held with no bail. |
