Prophet in police net over false prophecy

Posted: 04 Apr 2014 01:17 PM PDT

Alphonsus Ezie, a 56year old prophet with the Celestial Church of Christ Igando District, Lagos State has been arrested and remanded in prison by the police for tricking his congregation with a false prophecy, PM news reports.

Prophet Ezie had on a Sunday service prophesied seeing some members of his congregation traveling to Netherland for greener pastures and coming back home successful. He asked all those interested in making the prophecy fulfilled in their lives to meet with his friend, Mr Samuel, a travel agent, to help them with their travel papers. And Mr Samuel disappeared with their money..lol. Continue

16 unsuspecting members  excitedly met with  Mr Samuel in a hotel in Ejigbo where they made various payments to him for their travel documents. Among those who paid for the documents were;
Julius Adefisoye, N217,000;
Mathew Oyedele, N125,000;
Kinsley John, N120,000;
James Obiakpo, N240,000, who paid for himself and fiancee;  Adewumi Osisoya N70,000; Akimbami Kunle, N50,000 and Lekan Ogundepo, N50,000.
Trouble started when the members waited for months without seeing Mr Samuel or the travel documents they had paid for. They alerted the Igando Police Station and the prophet was arrested alongside Mr Samuel. Both men were charged to the Ejigbo Magistrate court where they pleaded not guilty.

A N100,000 bail was set for both men with two sureties in like manner and are currently in police custody pending when they fulfill their bail conditions.

Get ready Naija people, Chiwetel Ejiofor is coming to town! :-)

Posted: 04 Apr 2014 12:28 PM PDT

Get ready people, Oscar nominated & BAFTA winning actor Chiwetel Ejiofor is set to storm Nigeria for Half Of A Yellow Sun. Naija babes, you ready? *wink* Continue...

Last week Tuesday, was a moment of tears, clap, back slapping and photography as select group of people made up of mainly movie industry stakeholders, film critics and the media gathered for the screening of the 10 Million Dollar movie 'HALF OF A YELLOW SUN.'
There was about ten minutes of heart-touching moment of tears, as Yewande Sadiku, the executive producer who raised over 10 million Dollars for the movie recollected how painfully excruciating it was for her to raise that kind of money especially more so when she has raised over a billion Dollar for other non-movie business ventures. 'I never believed it could take me about 6 years to raise that kind of money, I am an investment banker by profession, part of my specialty is raising money for people, I have headed a team that raised 1 billion dollars for a corporate organization, I could not believe that raising money for a project that I want to do personally would take this long. Somehow people do not believe it could be done and a lot of people do not believe in the movie industry, there were many times I broke down with tears in my car especially when someone had promised to make a commitment and all of a sudden you can't reach the person anymore or the person stops picking your calls or replying SMS'.
Continuing, Yewande said 'Somehow my husband and I sold everything we had and we got one or two people to also put down part of the money and borrowed the remaining money from banks'.
The tears got a few people on Yewande's side but what finally sealed the conviction was the movie after it was screened. It is a movie that would make any Nigerian in any part of the world proud. Yewande was greatly applauded by the select few, among whom were, Kunle Afolayan, movie critics like Toni Kan, Steve Ayorinde, Samuel Olatunji, Niran Adedokun and respected script writer Tunde Babalola (writer of 'The Meeting', 'The Assignment' and 'Last Flight to Abuja').
For Toni Kan, 'HALF OF A YELLOW SUN' should be a must watch for every Nigerian. "You must go and watch it ('HALF OF A YELLOW SUN') because it is a valuable piece of Nigeria's cinema history. It will teach you and touch you in many ways and with2015 approaching and rabble-rousers banging on the drums of war, this love story set in the time of war will give you perspective. War is evil but love conquers all. When I read the novel, I was upset that it had been marketed, mostly, as a book about the Biafran war, it was not. It was a love story set in a time of war. At the core of 'HALF OF A YELLOW SUN' is love, lust, loss and the healing power of forgiveness."
The movie which would be screened in Nigeria, Australia, US, UK, Middle East and Portugal stars  Oscar nominee, Chiwetel Ejiofor, British actress, Thandie Newton, Anika Noni Rose, Nollywood acts, Genevieve Nnaji, Zack Orji, Wale Ojo, OC Ukeje, and veteran singer Onyeka Onwenu. The movie is directed by Nigerian playwright, Biyi Bandele.
The premiere in Nigeria is on April 12, 2014 while it will be released across cinemas in Nigeria from April 25, 2014.
Just Incase you didn't know, Arinze Ejiofor, a doctor and a Nigerian highlife musician is Chiwetel's father. In 1988 he passed on after a motor accident that involved him and Chiwetel who was only 11years old and has scars on his forehead to show for it. One of the titles of late Arinze's album is Nna Anyi Bi Na Enu Igwe

'I don't like poor men admiring me' - Fast rising actress, Lizzy Gold

Posted: 04 Apr 2014 07:57 AM PDT

Nollywood actress, Lizzy Gold, says the major criteria for any man to woo her is that he must be rich and that no poor man should even think of admiring her picture, let alone 'toast' her. In a chat with Entertainment Express, Lizzy also said bank alerts turn her on. What she said below...
"A poor man shouldn't even think of admiring my picture, not to talk of wooing me. I love money so much so I can't marry a poor man. I don't even want a man who is merely comfortable. My interest and affection are for millionaires, if possible billionaires. Money means so much to me, in fact money makes me wet. Sometimes when I imagine so much money in my account, I could just get wet. Bank alert is like my best friend. I just need to imagine so much money in my account and I am turned on. When I get a credit alert on my account, Oh my God, I get turned on immediately.
Lizzy says asides having money and being willing to spend it on her, another very important thing she looks out for in a man is that he must be well 'endowed'.

"I'll give marriage another shot, but not now." actress Chike Ike says

Posted: 04 Apr 2014 07:54 AM PDT

In a recent interview with Punch, actress Chika Ike said her divorce is in her past and plans to marry again but not immediately.
"I don't want to talk about the divorce because it is already in the past and I have since moved on. I am still open to marriage and I might give it a second shot because I believe in love. For now, I am most concerned with my own happiness" she said.
The UN ambassador also spoke on the increased rate of failed marriages in Nollywood
"Celebrities also make mistakes. I don't think they have a bad time combining their successful careers and managing the home front or their marriages on the side".
She also addressed the notion of men being intimidated by single celebrity women
"All the talk about some men being afraid to walk up to a female celebrity and ask her out does not make sense to me. Any man that cannot walk up to me and toast me is not man enough. I don't have a long list or criteria for my ideal man. All I want is that he must make me happy." Chika said

Why na? Chris Brown flown to DC with other prisoners in Con Air

Posted: 04 Apr 2014 06:35 AM PDT

I don't like the way they are trying to beat this guy completely down. Chris Brown's legal team's last ditch effort to transport him personally to Washington D.C. for his misdemeanor assault trial has been denied and Chris is headed to D.C. on Con Air...a prisoner aircraft...with other criminals

TMZ reports...
Chris Brown has just been picked up by federal marshals on what will be one of the longest journeys across the country since the prop plane era ... TMZ has learned.
Sources connected with the case tell us Chris is on his way to a federal holding facility in San Bernardino to begin his long trip to Washington D.C. where he will stand trial for assault.
Later today Chris will board a airplane -- guarded by U.S. Marshals and appropriately restrained -- but the flight is NOT a non-stop. In fact, we're told there are so many stops he probably won't get there until Sunday. Continue...
We're told all of these flights go through Oklahoma, with stops along the way to pick up other prisoners.

Chris will be in D.C. for a hearing Monday where his lawyer, Mark Geragos, will try to get the charges dismissed because he believes prosecutors inappropriately used the grand jury to gain an unfair advantage in the criminal case.

Now here's the thing. If Geragos loses, Chris will sit in a D.C. jail facility until his D.C. trial kicks off on April 17.

Court orders Financial Reporting Council to stop investigating Sanusi

Posted: 04 Apr 2014 05:57 AM PDT

Justice J. T. Tsoho of the Federal High Court, Lagos, today April 4th ordered the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) to stop any further investigations it is currently carrying out on the suspended CBN Governor, Sanusi Lamido.

The Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria had leveled allegations of financial recklessness and abuse of office on Sanusi and recommended his suspension which was effected on February 20

The council in its presentation to the president said they found Mr Sanusi's report on the audited financial statement of the CBN for the year ended Dec. 2012 and other related issues unsatisfactory.

Upon his Suspension, Mr Sanusi was invited to a panel set up by the council at Elephant House Ikeja Lagos for questioning on March 27th but failed to turn up. Reports say Sanusi felt the panel was bias and was set out to rubbish his person. He filed a suit that same day asking the court to stop the FRCN from investigating him as it lacked the constitutional power to investigate him. His request was granted by a judge today.

Beyonce's little brother headed to a homeless shelter

Posted: 04 Apr 2014 06:36 AM PDT

A month after Beyonce's father had his child support order for his 3 year-old son Nixon slashed from  $12,000 a month to $2,400 a month, his baby mama, Alexandra, says she and the boy are headed to a homeless shelter. Because of the slash, Matthew Knowles won't have make child support payments the next two years after a court ruled that the $12k he paid for the last three years means he's paid in full until nearly 2016.

Now Nixon's mother says Beyonce hasn't lifted a finger to help. Alexsandra tells In Touch Magazine
"I can't imagine how Beyoncé feels knowing she has a homeless brother. I know if I were in the same position, I would reach out. Maybe she is too busy."
"Nixon deserves to know his family, and I hope one day he will meet his sister"
Why not get a job instead of going to a homeless shelter? There are lots of single mums out there getting things done and giving their kids quality life. So if Beyonce wasn't his step sister, nko?

Guess it's the season of uncovering ritualist dens. Another den was discovered yesterday, April 3rd in Akinremi Estate in the Adigbe area of Obafemi-Owode LGA of Ogun State, Vanguard reports

A pregnant young lady in a bid to set herself free from the ritualist ran out of a duplex in the estate on Wednesday night and informed the estate residents of what was happening in the building. The young lady said she was from Abia state and was sold to the ritualist by her elders sister for N100,000.

By Thursday morning, youths in the area, mostly students of the Moshood Abiola Polythecnic, invaded the building and engaged in a thorough search of the building and amongst the things they found in the building were charms, ivory plate containing fresh blood, coffin, and effigies. Continue

Also discovered in the building were passports and Identity cards of Senior and Junior Students of Sacred Heart Catholic College, Oke-Ilewo who are believed to have been killed by the ritualist. Other male and female clothings were found in the building. Three pregnant ladies and three kids were rescued from the building.

Angered by the act, the youths of the area took laws into their hands and burnt the building down with the cars in the building.

Nigerian man learned to walk in high heels as part of his plans to kill his mother

Posted: 04 Apr 2014 01:52 AM PDT

21 year old Emmanuel Kalejaiye is accused of learning how to walk in high heels and purchasing an all-pink outfit, pink hoodie, pink jogging bottoms, and a scarf as part of his 'meticulous plans' to kill and then impersonate his own mother, UK Daily Mail reports. Full report below...
A court heard he planned to wear them as he moved his mother's car so as to deceive any neighbour who saw him into thinking that she was still alive. The court heard he had detailed on a piece of paper how he had to learn to walk in high heels for this part of his plan.
Kalejaiye is accused of killing his 44-year-old mother,Tolu Kalejaiye (pictured above), at their home in Wickford, Essex, on September 26 last year.

A jury at Chelmsford Crown Court heard on Wednesday how his plans involved buying women's clothing and learning how to walk in high heels so neighbours would think he was his mother. He also bought knives, rubber gloves and turned a beanie hat into a 'frightening mask' as part of his plan, the court heard.

He allegedly covered the floors of the house and garage in cardboard and bin liners to prevent evidence being found.

Kalejaiye wrote his murder plan down on pieces of paper and even made plans to get rid of his brother Femi if he found out or stumbled on the scene, it was said.

The court heard he planned to kill his mother when she came back from church or when she was coming downstairs to go to work.

Prosecutor Andrew Jackson told the court: 'He made meticulous and detailed plans for the slaying of his own mother'.

The car was to be parked around the corner to make it look as if she was at work, the court heard.

It was alleged that Kalejaiye struck on September 26 last year as his mother came downstairs on her way to work.

But the court heard how the plan started to unravel as his mother managed to call her friend Leo Shogunle.
He did not answer, but the call went to his voicemail and when he picked it up later on, he called police.
The court then heard that when police arrived at the scene they discovered the body of Tolu Kalejaiye on the living room floor, along with a mass of evidence linking her son with the death.
Checks later revealed he had bought clothes, knives, gloves and even lighter fuel to dispose of her body, it was said.

Former Essex University student Kalejaiye denies murder and has admitted a lesser charge of manslaughter, but this plea has not been accepted by the prosecution.

Kalejaiye confessed to police he had killed his mother and claimed she tortured him mentally and quoted the Bible at him, the court heard.

MTNCelebdouble toast celebs look-alikes tonight in Lagos, Benin & Enugu

Posted: 04 Apr 2014 01:39 AM PDT

When the #MTNCelebdouble was launched a fortnight ago, the social media via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram was abuzz with pictures and commentaries from those who felt they looked like any of the telecommunications company's ambassadors. It was certain that Nigerian music fans will be ushered into the long coveted celebrity experience on a platter of gold.  Therefore, it was no surprise to see fans that look almost exactly like Tiwa Savage, Davido, Wizkid, Iyanya, Don Jazzy, D'Prince, iMike, Kcee, Harrysong, Praiz and Chidinma posting their images on MTN Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts. Continue...

Having found the celebrities close splitting images, the expectations of the MTN ambassadors' fans will come true tonight. The ambassadors will be sharing special moments with their 'doubles' in different parts of the country live from 8pm in Lagos, Benin and Enugu, where Invasion Parties, at choice clubs, have been specially organised for the look-alikes and fans.

D'Place on Adeola Odeku, in Lagos, will be a haven of fun and music, asides opportunities to share in the 'good to better' and celebrities' experience. The same goes for Villa Toscana in Enugu and Club Joker, located within GRA, in Benin.

All the celebrities will be fairly distributed across the clubs. Don Jazzy, who will be part of the parties, has said 'it is more than a party, it is a real night out with fans and my real look-alikes'.  Also Tiwa Savage, who had earlier spoken about her excitement at meeting her real 'doubles', said it's going to be a time to flex and share 'great moments with Nigerian youth in a boundless and free atmosphere, which clubs are known for.

Meanwhile the look-alikes will spend the better part of the day reeling in an extensive VIP treat. They have already been checked into 5-star hotels where they will spend the weekend. A special tour has been arranged for them to see parks, museums and many exclusive places. They will also be having a group lunch with their celebrity 'doubles' before rounding off with a memorable party-time amidst pomp and fun-fair in the company of the ambassadors and other fans.
