Tambuwal confirms stepping down for Buhari, Atiku, explains why

Posted: 18 Nov 2014 12:21 PM PST

Speaker of the House of Reps, Aminu Tambuwal has released a statement explaining why he's stepping down from the 2015 presidential race and instead going for the governorship race of Sokoto state. His statement below...
1. A few days ago, precisely on Friday the 14th of November,2014 a group of friends, associates, colleagues and admirers cutting across all ages, ethnic, social, religious, political and geographical divides presented to me the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for me to participate in the presidential primaries of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the 2015 Presidential Election.
2. On that auspicious occasion, being profoundly humbled, I requested for a little more time to conclude my last round of the series of nationwide consultations which indeed I was just about to conclude.
3. Let me state that the 14th November event was neither an accidental nor sudden happenstance, rather it was another high point of similar goodwill surprises I had experienced in the last two years when I started receiving in audience, colleagues, individuals, groups and delegations of prominent Nigerians on this subject matter
4. I wish to seize this occasion to commend, most highly, these patriotic and selfless colleagues, admirers, individuals and groups for their sacrifice, diligence and single-mindedness in the pursuit of what they honestly believe is in the best interest of our fatherland. I am fully aware of the physical, financial and intellectual resources all of you have expended in this regard besides the sheer volume of valuable time and the travel risk of crisscrossing to compare notes and confirm projections. Indeed I can not thank you enough.
5. When upon genuine conviction I decided to commence extensive consultations towards taking a decision as to whether or not to participate in the contest for the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it was not to actualize a personal ambition, but rather to actualize our dream for a new Nigeria.
6. Ever since news of the possibility of my participation in the presidential contest got into the public domain, it has generated monumental interest, analyses and commentary. I have also, both personally and through prominent leaders across party lines and beyond, consulted extensively and I must say that I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and interest. On my part and with the greatest sense of modesty and responsibility I wish to assure Nigerians that I am fully prepared, ready, willing, determined, available and armed with the requisite plans, programmes and ability, to undertake the great mission of rescuing our dear country from the clutches of institutionalized corruption, gross incompetence, greed and divisiveness. I am prepared for the great task of rescuing Nigeria from the security problems, the scandalous youth unemployment, and the economic and social malaise that plague her.
7. Given the opportunity, ours would be a clean, corrupt-free, competent and purposeful government: to deal with the inexplicable paradoxes that have held us hostage for over a hundred years: the paradox of ever growing abject poverty in the midst of plenty; the paradox of ever growing menace of corruption in the face of the collective capacity of Nigerians to eradicate same, the paradox of decaying infrastructure especially epileptic power supply in the face of abundant natural resources; the paradox of glaring internal insecurity in the face of a gallant military, police and other security agencies that have excelled in peace keeping and enforcement abroad. Indeed a government that would deploy extraordinary ways and means where such becomes inevitable within the ambit of the law.
8. The problems I speak about are real and glaring. Over the past three and a half years of presiding over 359 equals, I often had occasion to discuss peculiar constituency problems with my colleagues but most importantly I have visited over 300 hundred Federal constituencies across the country and seen for myself abject poverty of our people particularly the majority of the population that reside in the rural areas, I have experienced, first hand, total absence of essential social facilities and decaying infrastructure, where they exist at all, and observed hopelessness in the eyes of millions of citizens. I deeply feel the pulse of dejection of our people.
9. I am convinced that with the progressive spirit and teamwork these objectives are attainable under an All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.
10. I have carefully considered the concerns expressed by some of our leaders, whom I deeply respect and whose support and counsel I enjoy, to the effect that my entry into the presidential race at this point may necessitate having to rework some equations on the political chessboard of the party.
11. Having consulted widely, taking into consideration the concerns of some elders of the party, I have decided to suspend my participation in the presidential contest for now. I have done so as a sacrifice for the cohesion and unity of the APC. I am suspending my participation in the presidential race for now because I do not have any inordinate ambition to occupy any office. Nigeria is a country too great to sacrifice on the altar of partisan politics and personal ambition. What any one becomes in life is exclusively in the hands of God. Only God gives power to whoever he pleases.
12. I came into the APC to enhance and build. Therefore in the interest of our great party, the APC, and indeed in the overriding national interest I wish to appeal to all my associates, colleagues, supporters, admirers and friends nationwide to show some understanding. It has not been easy coming to this decision and I very well understand the frustration, disappointment and disbelief of many who have committed so much to the project including sacrificing not only their physical, financial and intellectual resources but indeed their personal ambitions in the 2015 electoral contest.
13. I pledge my loyalty to our party the APC and cooperation with my uncles and senior brothers and colleagues who are already in the race for the APC Presidential ticket: I refer to General Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Governor Rochas Okorocha and Mr Sam Ndah- Isaiah. There is no doubt that they are all eminently qualified.
14. To all my associates, colleagues, friends, admirers across Nigeria, who have faith that I am that instrument for the change we all desire, I assure you that your faith is not in vain. It is noble and will endure until this great nation of ours is rescued from the clutches of institutionalized corruption, gross incompetence, greed and divisiveness. I charge you to be comforted that your strength lies not in the limited capacity of a single leader, but rather in the collective capacity of the millions of great citizens of this nation. One day, and I believe not too long away, this formidable collective capacity will be ignited and the good Lord will lift Nigeria high up where she belongs.
15. God bless you all and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Rt. Hon. AMINU WAZIRI TAMBUWAL
SPEAKER, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.

Abduction of journalists & others by Tompolo - Keyamo gives SSS, IG final ultimatum

Posted: 18 Nov 2014 08:40 AM PST

Find the press statement from Festus Keyamo Chambers below...
We have been briefed by the family members and friends of the following persons who were kidnapped, tortured and nearly killed (along with some journalists) by the hirelings of one Government Ekpemupolo (alias Tompolo) on Sunday, November 16, 2014, in Delta State: 1.) Mr. Eyengho B. Samuel 2.) Tokunbor Oluwaleye 3.)  Kelvin Tuduo 4.) Ekpen 5.) Edema Eburajolor 6.) Otos Lemun and 7.) Dolor Emmanuel. Please continue..

The facts are that the aforementioned boys (hereinafter referred to as "the seven victims"), together with some journalists from different media houses went to Ogidingben in Delta State on Sunday, November 16, 2014, to get first-hand coverage of the crises leading to the cancellation of the commissioning of the EPZ Project by President Jonathan two days earlier. Recall that I raised an alarm last week about the threat byTompolo in respect of the commissioning of the project by the President. True to the alarm, the President called off the commissioning because of the threat by Tompolo.

When leaving the venue, the journalists were joined on the boat by the seven victims, three of whom were given a free ride, one was a boat driver and three were from the company that owns the boat.

On their way from Ogidingben after their assignments, the seven victims and the journalists were stopped in their boats and blocked by more than ten other boats loaded with fierce-looking and armed hooligans around an area called Tebujo, which is also near an area called Opuraja. The seven victims and the journalists were then evacuated from their boat into one of the boats of the hooligans. Along the line, Tompolo called and spoke with one of the journalists and he confirmed that he sent the hooligans to accost them and that they should "co-operate" with his boys.

The seven victims and the journalists were then taken to Tompolo's house in Opuraja where they were beaten to pulp by Tompolo's boys. The cameras of the journalists were all seized and the memory cards were removed so that they could not show what they went to cover. Unknown to them however, the journalists all had back-ups of their materials in their external hard disks which Tompolo's boys did not see and seize.

It was a near-death experience for all the victims and in particular for Mr. Tokunbor Oluwaleye who is suffering from internal bleeding and is in a critical condition till today. It took the intervention of Naval and Army personnel in the area for the victims and journalists to be rescued from the hands of Tompolo's boys later that evening.

Sirs, your failure to simply carry out your statutory duties of arrest, investigation and prosecution of Tompolofor his various acts of lawlessness is now a national and an international embarrassment to the Government of President Goodluck Jonathan. It is disgusting to all men of normal minds to see a private citizen strutting all over the place, threatening lives, abducting citizens, (perhaps silently killing voiceless persons) and you hide your heads in the sand. Yet, he moves about with nearly a whole platoon of Army and security personnel that even a serving Governor cannot get. What is going on?

Recall that I wrote a complaint of the open threat to my life by the same individual nearly two weeks ago, yet you have not even done as little as write me an acknowledgment letter. It is such a shame. This unhealthy romance between government officials in high places and this individual raises strong suspicion over, perhaps, some criminal dalliance in relation to shady deals. I am confident that time will tell us better. There is no better way to see this. But I have decided that enough is enough.

TAKE NOTICE that if within 72 hours of the receipt of this petition you fail, refuse and/or neglect to invite/arrest, investigate and perhaps prosecute Mr. Government Ekpemupolo (alias Tompolo) for the threat to my life and the attempted murder of these seven victims and the journalists, I will be proceeding to court to compel you to do your duties under the law.

I would want you to come and tell the court what is tying your hands against Tompolo.

The ball is in your court.

Yours most trusted,

FESTUS KEYAMO, ESQ.

Have you guys read this bizarre Jaden & Willow Smith interview?

Posted: 18 Nov 2014 07:27 AM PST

Just read excerpts from Jaden and Willow Smith's interview with T magazine and I'm not so sure that these kids are totally alright...lol. In the interview, Jaden 16 and Willow, 14, talk about quantum physics, meditation, their ability to control time, why school is useless, that they write their own novels because there are no good novels out there, how babies remember when they are born and so many weird stuff.  Read below, from T Magazine
Q: What have you been reading?
Willow: Quantum physics. Osho.
Jaden: "The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life" and ancient texts; things that can't be pre-dated.
Things that can't be pre-dated? Will and Jada Smith, come get your children please..lol. Continue..

I'm curious about your experience of time. Do you feel like life is moving really quickly? Is your music one way to sort of turn it over and reflect on it?
WILLOW: I mean, time for me, I can make it go slow or fast, however I please, and that's how I know it doesn't exist.
JADEN: It's proven that how time moves for you depends on where you are in the universe. It's relative to beings and other places. But on the level of being here on earth, if you are aware in a moment, one second can last a year. And if you are unaware, your whole childhood, your whole life can pass by in six seconds. But it's also such a thing that you can get lost in.
WILLOW: Because living.
JADEN: Right, because you have to live. There's a theoretical physicist inside all of our minds, and you can talk and talk, but it's living.
WILLOW: It's the action of it.

What are some of the themes that recur in your work?
JADEN: The P.C.H. being one of them; the melancholiness of the ocean; the melancholiness of everything else.
WILLOW: And the feeling of being like, this is a fragment of a holographic reality that a higher consciousness made.
JADEN: [bursts into laughter] As soon as me and Willow started releasing music, that's one thing that the whole world took away is, okay, they unlocked another step of honesty. If these guys can be honest about everything, then we can be more honest.

How have you gotten better?
WILLOW: Caring less what everybody else thinks, but also caring less and less about what your own mind thinks, because what your own mind thinks, sometimes, is the thing that makes you sad.
JADEN: Exactly. Because your mind has a duality to it. So when one thought goes into your mind, it's not just one thought, it has to bounce off both hemispheres of the brain. When you're thinking about something happy, you're thinking about something sad. When you think about an apple, you also think about the opposite of an apple. It's a tool for understanding mathematics and things with two separate realities. But for creativity: That comes from a place of oneness. That's not a duality consciousness. And you can't listen to your mind in those times — it'll tell you what you think and also what other people think.
WILLOW: And then you think about what you think, which is very dangerous.

Do you think of your new music as a continuation of your past work?
JADEN: I think Willow's had a huge evolution.
WILLOW: I mean, "Whip My Hair" was a great thing. When I look back I think, "Wow, I did so much for young black girls and girls around the world. Telling them that they can be themselves and to not be afraid to be themselves." And I'm doing that now but in a whole different way, coming from source energy and universal truths. People will be, like, "Oh, I'm not going to make a song about exactly how I feel, all the bad ways that I feel, and put it out in the world so everyone can judge me." But for me, it's a part of me, it's my artistic journey.
JADEN: That's another thing: What's your job, what's your career? Nah, I am. I'm going to imprint myself on everything in this world.

How do you write? What's your process?
JADEN: She gets in the booth and just starts singing.
WILLOW: I mean, the beat is usually what moves me. Or I think of concepts. Then when I hear a beat that is, like, elaborating on that concept, I just go off.
JADEN: She freestyles and finds out what she likes. Same thing with me.
WILLOW: You piece it together. You piece together those little moments of inspiration.

What are you searching for in those pieced-together moments?
JADEN: Honestly, we're just trying to make music that we think is cool. We don't think a lot of the music out there is that cool. So we make our own music. We don't have any song that we like to listen to on the P.C.H. by any other artist, you know?
WILLOW: That's what I do with novels. There're no novels that I like to read so I write my own novels, and then I read them again, and it's the best thing.
JADEN: Willow's been writing her own novels since she was 6.

But do your collaborative relationships inspire you in different directions?
JADEN: Totally.
WILLOW: Me and Jaden just figured out that our voices sound like chocolate together. As good as chocolate tastes, it sounds that good.

How does fashion relate to what you do?
JADEN: Willow just dropped a song ("Cares"), let me quote the lyrics: "I do not care what people say." We both don't really care. I like to wear things that I make, but I throw it on as though I was throwing on anything. It looks cool, sometimes.
WILLOW: I like to go to places with my high-fashion things where there are a lot of cameras. So I can just go there and be like, "Yep, yep, I'm looking so sick." But in my regular life, I put on clothes that I can climb trees in.

What are the things worth having?
JADEN: Something that's worth buying to me is like Final Cut Pro or Logic.
WILLOW: A canvas. Paint. A microphone.
JADEN: Anything that you can shock somebody with. The only way to change something is to shock it. If you want your muscles to grow, you have to shock them. If you want society to change, you have to shock them.
WILLOW: That's what art is, shocking people. Sometimes shocking yourself.

You mentioned breathing earlier, and it's also an idea that recurs in your songs.
WILLOW: Breathing is meditation; life is a meditation. You have to breathe in order to live, so breathing is how you get in touch with the sacred space of your heart.
JADEN: When babies are born, their soft spots bump: It has, like, a heartbeat in it. That's because energy is coming through their body, up and down.
WILLOW: Prana energy.
JADEN: It's prana energy because they still breathe through their stomach. They remember. Babies remember.
WILLOW: When they're in the stomach, they're so aware, putting all their bones together, putting all their ligaments together. But they're shocked by this harsh world.
JADEN: By the chemicals and things, and then slowly…
WILLOW: As they grow up, they start losing.
JADEN: You know, they become just like us.

So is the hardest education the unlearning of things?
WILLOW: Yes, basically, but the crazy thing is it doesn't have to be like that.
JADEN: Here's the deal: School is not authentic because it ends. It's not true, it's not real. Our learning will never end. The school that we go to every single morning, we will continue to go to.
WILLOW: Forever, 'til the day that we're in our bed.
JADEN: Kids who go to normal school are so teenagery, so angsty.
WILLOW: They never want to do anything, they're so tired.
JADEN: You never learn anything in school. Think about how many car accidents happen every day. Driver's ed? What's up? I still haven't been to driver's ed because if everybody I know has been in an accident, I can't see how driver's ed is really helping them out.
WILLOW: I went to school for one year. It was the best experience but the worst experience. The best experience because I was, like, "Oh, now I know why kids are so depressed." But it was the worst experience because I was depressed.

So what's next?
JADEN: I have a goal to be just the most craziest person of all time. And when I say craziest, I mean, like, I want to do like Olympic-level things. I want to be the most durable person on the planet.
WILLOW: I think by the time we're 30 or 20, we're going to be climbing as many mountains as we can possibly climb.

Sex with more than 20 women helps reduce prostate cancer: study

Posted: 18 Nov 2014 07:04 AM PST

A new research claims that a man who has had sex with more than 20 women in his lifetime is less likely to have prostate cancer. Is this kind of study that causes men to be d**king around *hiss* lol

From SMH.com
"Men who have sex with more than 20 women during the course of their lifetimes are less likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer, new research shows.
But for homosexuals who have had sex with at least 20 men and virgins, the risk of being diagnosed is doubled, the researchers from the University of Montreal have found.
Compared with men who have had just one sexual partner, men who have slept with 20 or more women have a 28 per cent lower risk of being diagnosed, and are 19 per cent less likely to develop the most aggressive form of prostate cancer.
However, the researchers found that homosexual men who have had at least 20 sexual partners, were twice as likely to to develop prostate cancer compared with those in monogamous relationships.
Homosexual men were also five times more likely to develop a less serious form of the disease than those with only one male partner.
The "highly speculative" hypothesis to explain this increased risk for homosexual men is that there is a heightened risk of picking up a sexually transmitted disease and "physical trauma" to the prostate from anal intercourse.
Between 2005 and 2009, 3208 men participated in the Prostate Cancer & Environment Study and were asked to give information about their lifestyles and sexual experiences.
In this time frame, 1590 men who participated in the study were diagnosed with prostate cancer..
The research, published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, is the first of its kind to make a link between the number of sexual partners and the risk of developing cancer.
Lead researcher Marie-Elise Parent said that, despite the results, she did not see a need for public health authorities to encourage men to have sex with as many women as possible.
"It is possible that having many female sexual partners results in a higher frequency of ejaculations, whose protective effect against prostate cancer has been previously observed in cohort studies," Dr Parent said
The research found that men who had never had sexual intercourse, were twice as likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Prior studies have indicated sexual intercourse might help reduce the risk of prostate cancer because it lowers the concentration of carcinogenic crystal-like substances in the fluid of the prostate.
"We were fortunate to have participants from Montreal who were comfortable talking about their sexuality, no matter what sexual experiences they have had, and this openness would probably not have been the same 20 or 30 years ago," Dr Parent said.
"Indeed, thanks to them, we now know that the number and type of partners must be taken into account to better understand the causes of prostate cancer."

"Nigerians would readily recall that we blazed the CRBT trail in Nigeria over seven years ago when for the first time in Nigeria, we made it possible for our subscribers to download their favourite tunes and make them their ringback tunes. Others were to follow the trail, and today, Nigerian artistes net millions of naira in revenue from their music distributed by mobile operators in the country through the CRBT platform," said Nagasai.

The songs that Glo customers can readily access include Flavour's dancehall blaster, "Wake Up', featuring Wande Coal; Omawumi's latest release currently ruling the airwaves, "Megbele" in addition to her existing songs; Naeto C's collaborative effort featuring Phyno, "China"; Burna Boy's "Checks and Balance"; Sanni Danja's "Alhaji" and Chee's collaborative work with Olamide, "No More".

Speaking at the ceremony, Naeto C said the capabilities of Glo's CRBT are well above similar platforms by other operators, as Glo subscribers can shuffle their song collections and choose anyone for their callers. According to him, this and other innovations are the reasons Globacom is the leader in innovation in the sector.

Another artiste, Omawumi commended Globacom for generating revenue for artistes. She described the launch of Glo Exclusive as laudable and heart-warming.

CRBT MI Abaga on his own part said, "Glo has raised the bar with the exclusive caller ring back tunes by moving to the next level. It signals another dimension for Nigerian music".

To download Flavour's 'Wake up', subscribers are requested to text 300 to 7728, while they are requested to text 100 to 7728 for Naeto C's "China",  and 500 to 7728 for Omawumi's 'Megbele.'
