Photo: Man arrested with cocaine concealed in women shoes

Posted: 09 Nov 2014 12:26 PM PST

A 27 year old man named Mama Solomon (pictured left) was arrested recently by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA at the Murtala Mohammed airport after cocaine was found concealed inside the female shoes he brought in from Brazil.

Parading the suspect before newsmen, the NDLEA commander at MMIA Lagos, Hamza Umar, said the cocaine was found in the luggage compartment of an Etihad Airline flight from Brazil to Nigeria.
"The suspect claimed to be a shoe merchant, however, during interrogation it was revealed that he only used the shoes as a way of concealing cocaine. He had two bags containing female shoes and hand bags. The drug was discovered in the soles of the female shoes and he was immediately arrested," he said.
The NDLEA spokesman said when interrogated, the suspect claimed he was given the bag of shoes by some friends in Brazil who promised to pay him handsomely if he successfully trafficks the drug
"I live and work in Brazil. I was given the drug with a promise that I will be handsomely rewarded if I successfully deliver the bag in Nigeria. They also assured me that somebody will help me in collecting the bags at the airport in Nigeria. Unfortunately, officers demanded to search my bag and in the process, the cocaine was found in my bag," the suspect told the NDLEA

We are struggling to stay afloat, First Consultant CMD recounts experience since hospital was reopened

Posted: 09 Nov 2014 02:16 AM PST

The Chief Medical Director of the First Consultant Hospital where the first case of Ebola was diagnosed in Nigeria, says as an organization, they are struggling to float after reopening for business last month. In an interview with Tribune yesterday, Dr Benjamin Ohiaeri said himself, his staff and their families still face firsthand stigmatization even after being certified free of the Ebola virus
"Since re-opening, we have witnessed firsthand what it means to be stigmatized. At a time when you would think we would be appreciated for our professionalism in containing Ebola, we are enduring a significant depletion in patient-turn up. We are down on numbers by a factor of about 90%. But for the generosity of friends and family, Aledo Peterside, Tunde Ayeni, Diamond Bank, etc., this business would have collapsed. Even now, we are struggling to stay afloat. It has been very tough indeed."
"The loss of Dr Adadevoh, Dr Abaniwo, Evelyn Uko and Ejelonu, four key members of our team, the first two of who were the most senior of our medics and members of the Hospital Executive Committee, has been hard. They were colleagues, they were family. We are talking of a lifetime of working as a close team - as confidantes, as family. So, yes it's been very tough. As well as our fallen heroes, we have many of the survivors here. Medics, who placed their lives on the line to avoid Ebola spreading to the general public; they suffered the trauma of threats to their lives and the horror of rejection, in many cases, simply because they once had Ebola. The families of our people have suffered horrendous victimisation too. Children of the dead hounded out of rented homes just when they needed compassion; the husband of a sufferer thrown out of his job simply because the employer learned of his wife's condition. The pain, the suffering, the horror goes on and on. Still, our people are back at work, doing what they do best - caring for the ill. For the hospital, we are inching back to life. As you know, the place was shut down for nearly three months while it was decontaminated by the WHO. So, our business was essentially shut in all that time, though our expenses, salaries, among others, continued to run" he said.

Belgian chocolate brand Isis forced to change its name because of terror group

Posted: 09 Nov 2014 12:11 AM PST

Belgian chocolate brand 'ISIS' has announced it will be rebranding itself as 'Libeert' due to sharp fall in sales brought on by its name association with the Islamist terror group, Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS).

The company which was founded as 'Italo Suisse' in 1923, changed name to ISIS in 2013 because the chocolatier was no longer associated with either Italy or Switzerland. Now, they have to change their name again for a name association that is unquestionably much worse, with the rise of the terror group causing sales to drop. The company is not the first organization to have re-branded themselves because of the terror group.

Mathew Knowles baby mama Taqoya lashes out at Wendy Williams

Posted: 08 Nov 2014 02:29 PM PST

Mathew Knowles second baby mama Taqoya Branscomb has lashed out at Talk show host Wendy Williams after Wendy called her an opportunist, said she's exploiting her 4 year old daughter, and urged her to give up on her daughter's fledgling showbiz career because it won't go anywhere...

Taqoya tells Rumor Fix

"Wendy is out of line for talking about my child's potential, and how she won't be as famous as Beyoncé when her a** has no idea."
"She is encouraging bullying and hating just because of Beyoncé's status. Also who's to say if Mathew will or will not be in Koi's life in the future? I'm fighting for my daughter's rights so she won't have to fight for them eighteen years from now. To say that my daughter isn't going to be a successful entertainer because of the way she was conceived is like saying man-looking, former crackheads could never have their own talk show." Ouch!!
