| CAN condemns Kano bomb blast, commiserates with Muslim faithfuls Posted: 29 Nov 2014 12:51 PM PST  The Christian Association of Nigeria CAN has condemned the bomb attack that took place yesterday at the Central Mosque in Kano where over 100 persons have been confirmed dead. In a statement released and signed by CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, the association said the attack on the place of worship is the greatest evil to human beings and to God almighty. | Overland plane from Abuja crash-lands in Ilorin... Posted: 29 Nov 2014 12:28 PM PST  Below is a statement from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, about the incident "An Overland flight 1186, an ATR 72 aircraft with Registration number 5N-BPG from Abuja airport to Ilorin, carrying fifty nine passengers and four crew members,veered off the runway at low speed after a normal landing at the Ilorin Airport. The incident which occurred today Saturday, November 29, at 4.45pm, has no casualty recorded. However, the Accident and Prevention Bureau in conjunction with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has begun an investigation into the cause of the incident. The authority wishes to use this medium to reassure Nigerians that safety of the traveling public is still paramount and cannot be compromised." the statement read... |

His 39 wives say they are blessed to have him and take turns to share his bed.  It takes 30 whole chickens, peel 132lb of potatoes and boil up to 220lb of rice to make dinner for this family.  Coincidentally, Mr Chana is said to head a sect that allows members to take as many wives as they want.  Rinkmini, one of Mr Chana's wives who is now 38 years old, said:

| Dear LIB readers: My wife doesn't like our son Posted: 29 Nov 2014 04:33 AM PST  I have three children with my wife. Two of our children are girls and the last who is just three years old is a boy but I have noticed that my wife treats him differently from his sisters. She's not patient with him and smacks him whenever he does something wrong instead of correcting him in a loving manner like a mother should. She also talks to him harshly. If I hadn't seen her give birth to him, I would have thought he was adopted. I have asked her many times why she treats him differently but she says I am just exaggerating. I knew this was getting out of hand when I contemplated getting a camera to see how she treats him when I am not around. That is his mother not his nanny so I shouldn't be scared to leave him alone with her but the sad truth is that I am. What should I do? |

| Mum calls the police on her 9yr old daughter for attacking younger sister Posted: 29 Nov 2014 01:29 AM PST  The mother, Andrea Stumpf, who filmed the attack and showed it to the police as evidence when they came to her home said she filed charges to teach the little girl a lesson that violence is not the answer. According to Fox 59, the 9 year old was arrested and charged with battery last weekend. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokesman later said the police officer made the decision to arrest the girl and book her because the mother insisted but talked about the significance of keeping children out of the criminal justice system if possible. "We know that the younger kids get involved in the juvenile justice system, the more likely they are to keep getting involved with the system."Was the mother right to call the police? |
| Over 200 killed in the bomb blast at Kano Central Mosque yesterday Posted: 29 Nov 2014 01:28 AM PST  According to eyewitnesses, three bombs went off one after the other at the 10,000 capacity Mosque during the Friday Jumat prayers. Two went off inside the Mosque, and one outside. And when people tried to flee the scene, gun men opened fire on worshipers. Many of the casualties were children who couldn't run as fast. Some were trampled to death in the mayhem that ensued. When normalcy returned hours after the attack, the dead and wounded, said to be over 250, were taken to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital and the Nasarawa Hospital. The Emir of Kano was out of the country when the incident occurred. He'd left the night before. President Jonathan also cancelled his meeting with Nigerians entertainers at the Creative Industry event last night because of the blast. Photo credit: Punch |
