If you're a Kanye West fan, then bad news for you. There are rumours he's turning his back on music

A source tells Page Six

"Kanye West is coming to the conclusion that there are bigger bucks in fashion than in music. After his next [collaboration] with Paul McCartney comes out, he's going to step away from music and concentrate on clothing,"
"He got a $15 million signing bonus from Adidas, but his line has been pushed back four times because he hasn't had enough time to work on it."

Senate responds to corruption allegations by Fmr Pres. Obasanjo

Posted: 27 Nov 2014 11:50 AM PST

The senate has reacted to the corruption allegations leveled against it by the former Pres. Olusegun Obasanjo while at a book launch yesterday in Abuja. In a statement released and signed by its spokesman, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe today, the senate frowned at the allegations that they used their oversight function to extort money, stating that the oversight functions of the senate was the initiative of the former president. The statement reads in part;
"Ex- President Obasanjo for the avoidance of doubt, was the initiator of the constituency project in the year 2000 as a means of ensuring that projects were fairly spread across the country using the Senatorial zones as the spring board.
To ensure execution of the projects, Obasanjo again factored the constituency projects into the annual budgets to be implemented by the executive depending on availability of funds. That is to say that no lawmaker ever comes close to the funds or even determine the contractor for the said projects or when the said contract would be awarded. So, it looks curious and surprising that former President Obasanjo would turn around after over 10 years of initiating such a project to allege that the National Assembly is performing the function of both the executive and the parliament. Is it not preposterous for anybody to believe that members of the National Assembly would against the provisions of the Constitution with regards to application of separation of powers, award contracts 'to their agents to execute' and expect the Presidency under a President Obasanjo or any other President for that matter to pay for what they are not part of? Such allegation stands logic on its head, as it amounts to an indictment of the Presidency for wilfully contravening the budget laws by ceding its power to execute to the National Assembly, if it was the case."

Lagos state Police command yesterday paraded a 25 year old musician named John Sunday pictured left, who says he took to armed robbery in order to gather N100,000 to promote his reggae album.
"I am a musician from Ikofepepe in Akwa Ibom State. We were three in the gang, but one is on the run. I needed money to launch my album, Tureke Reggae; that is why I went into robbery. I was targeting N100,000" John said when he was interrogated.
John  Onyekachi Oshomi (pictured right) who claimed to be a bus conductor said he joined the gang because he needed to take care of his family. The two were was arrested on November 21st.
"I was a commercial bus conductor. We were operating on the Agege Total-Oshodi route. I just got married, but my wife is still in the village. I was looking for money to feed her whenever she comes to Lagos; that was why I went into armed robbery. " Sunday confessed.
According to The Nation, the Lagos state police commissioner said he got a tip off on November 21 at 10pm that some armed robbers were planning to rob in Lagos. He said he immediately directed the Officer-in-Charge, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Abba Kyari, a Superintendent of Police (SP), to go after them.
"With two decoy teams, they stormed their hideout and arrested Onyekachi Oshomi and John Sunday with a revolver pistol. During interrogation, they confessed to the crime including snatching of several cars within the metropolis. Efforts have been stepped up to arrest those that are still at large," Aderanti said.
Both men will soon be charged to court.

FG approves the purchase of N9.2bn cooking stoves for rural women

Posted: 27 Nov 2014 07:25 AM PST

The Federal Executive Council yesterday approved the purchase of N9.2bn worth of cooking stoves and 'wonder bags' for rural women under the National Clean Cooking Scheme.

Speaking with state house correspondence after the FEC meeting, the Supervising Minister of Information, Dr. Nurudeen Muhammed said the scheme which is a federal government initiative, is geared towards reducing the use of firewood among rural women in Nigeria.
"The National Clean Cooking Scheme is an aggressive drive to engender clean cooking culture amongst the poor rural women, to reduce and possibly eliminate cooking with solid fossil which is detrimental to health. The scheme is expected to provide 20 million clean stoves over a five-year period at the rate of four million stoves per annum, which will be distributed free of charge. It will also reduce incessant felling of trees, which exposes the country to ecological problems" he said.

The Minister said N9.2bn, inclusive of Value Added Tax, was approved for the procurement of 750,000 units of clean cooking stoves and 18,000 wonder bags, a non-electric slow cooker invented by Sarah Collins, a South African eco-entrepreneur, who came up with the idea of surrounding the pan with cushions six years ago during a power cut in her country.

He said the stoves were expected to be delivered by Messrs Integra Renewable Energy Services Limited within a period of 12 weeks.

Minister of Environment Mrs. Lawrecia Mallam who also spoke on the initiative, said the government decided to purchase the cooking stoves for the rural women because it considers cooking with firewood a silent killer.

Zayo is the next big thing -DJ Klem and Puffy T

Posted: 27 Nov 2014 07:34 AM PST

Anybody who is familiar with the Nigerian music industry would have heard of Zayo, the winner of KOGA Open House Competition.

The singer who has finished work on three singles (Ewomo, Colored, Basia) to his name would be releasing a new single soon. The singer has been touted as the next big thing in the music industry. He is signed to KOGA Records.

Speaking about Zayo, ace music producer Puffy T, who produced his single 'Basia' said "Zayo is multi-talented, he is too good. He can sing, rap and write songs. He is very flexible when it comes to music. Initially I was not too sure about working with him, but after I heard him, I knew it would be worth it. The music industry should watch out for him. I can assure you that in six months, if he has the right promotions, he would take the industry by storm. We are working on two new songs and trust me; I was impressed when I heard them. He really killed those songs.  He has all it takes to be a star and he would be a star."

According to DJ Klem, who produced his single 'Colored' "He is a very talented and good person. I would say my work experience with him was fun.  He listens to advice and takes to correction. I don't think he can be compared to other artists, although he's an upcoming artist, but judging by his talent and the fact that he listens and takes to corrections, I see him rise above his present state in no time. He has the potential and talent to be a star in the future. He is very talented.

Zayo who will be releasing Ewo Omo on Friday has already released 'Basia' which was produced by Puffy T. The videos of Basia and Ewo Omo were shot by Clarence.

Some girl Chris Brown slept with exposes him...

Posted: 27 Nov 2014 07:10 AM PST

Hmmm, this is a MediaTakeOut blockbuster...and it's very interesting. Hehe. Read below...
"Chris Brown got caught last weekend . . . freaking off a thot - after leaving the Supperclub in Los Angeles. In the below video, you see Chris asking his cousin ROC two exotical girls to come back to his house. Later in the video, around 2:30, you see Chris making sure the exoticals know his address.
Well Breezy got what he wanted . . . and so did one of the thots. One of the girls that was invited back to his house, either the ones from the video - or a different thot - exposed Chris for the cheater that he is. Cause she f*cked Chris to sleep, and then posted a pic of him sleeping on her friends Instagram page.
We managed to get some screenshots of the video, before she deleted it.
Karrueche caught wind of it - and DUMPED Chris last night - she told the world that she was "single again". But she came to her senses and realized that even though Chris is a CHEATER - he's the only reason that she's even famous. Karrueche has since BACKED DOWN from her initial tweet, and claimed that she was just "joking" about leaving Chris.
Here's the video:

Black Poetry By Stan Aneto

Posted: 27 Nov 2014 06:23 AM PST

We walk through a desert of time, with our fists, necks and ankles shackled by acquired values, alien to us. We believe in a lie that our complexion, cultures, languages & many more aren't good enough. So, we struggle to become who we are not. Sadly, we are still not accepted and may never be.

Black Poetry calls us to give up the struggle and accept with ease, who we are. An identity of true originality is a much needed tool for liberation.

Al Jazeera investigation of fake doctors leads to 3 arrests in Delta state

Posted: 27 Nov 2014 07:31 AM PST

African journalists, Nigeria's Rosemary Nwaebuni and Ghana's Anas Arameyaw go undercover to expose fake doctors in Delta State, leading to 3 arrests. Read the full story and watch the 25-minute documentary below...
In this week's episode of Africa Investigates, Anas Arameyaw Anas and Rosemary Nwaebuni go undercover with secret cameras to expose fake doctors in Delta State, leading to three on-camera arrests.
Nigerian law forbids abortions, except in cases where the patient's life is in danger. Despite this, Nigeria's Fake Doctors shows Rosemary, who is not even pregnant, twice being offered abortion services from unlicensed practitioners.

Precious Johnson Chuckwudi, who operates a pharmacy in Delta State, offered to provide an abortion - and agreed the price - despite Rosemary's negative pregnancy test, while Mr and Mrs Ogboru offered Rosemary an abortion in the dirty backroom of a bar, without conducting a pregnancy test.

The Nigerian Medical and Dental Association (NMDA) and Ministry of Health (MoH) have confirmed that neither Chuckwudi nor the Ogboru's are licensed and registered as medical doctors and that their shops are not registered clinics. Nigerian police arrested Mr and Mrs Ogboru on camera on the basis of evidence that Rosemary and Anas filmed.

Nigerian police also arrested Charles Igudala, who operates a clinic at Dictat Royal Home in Warri, Delta State, after he was covertly filmed offering medical services and injections to Anas in extremely unsanitary conditions. The NMDA and MoH confirmed that Igudala is not a licensed and registered doctor, while Dr Alfred Ebiakofa of the Nigerian Ministry of Health said that Igudala had been a target of the Nigerian health authorities for some time, but that they "had not been able to catch him before."

Rosemary and Anas also film other fake doctors wrongly diagnosing healthy patients with malaria and typhoid, as well using as a Quantum Resonance Analyser, a highly controversial machine of unproven effectiveness that is used to illegally diagnose - merely on the basis of tones and lights  - a variety of serious illnesses to perfectly healthy patients.

Spell of The Albino, the last investigation Anas filmed for Africa Investigates, won a One World Media Award and was nominated for a Royal Television Society Award.

Nigeria's Fake Doctors, the third episode of Africa Investigates, premiered on Wednesday, 26 November 2014 at 22:30 GMT / Thursday, 20 November at 00:30 CAT, with repeats on 27 November at 11:30, 28 November at 05:30, 29 November at 18:30, and 30 November at 07:30 CAT.

Florida man rapes and beats his 3 year old stepdaughter to death

Posted: 27 Nov 2014 07:27 AM PST

A 19 year old Florida man Pascal Kaufmann (pictured above) has been arrested for allegedly raping and beating his 3 year old step-daughter to death, Charlie Brame died in hospital on Monday Nov. 24th. Police say she died from severe brain trauma & had signs of recent 'sexual & aggravated abuse'

According to Orlando Sentinel, the little girl was rushed to the hospital after Kaufmann reported she'd stopped moving at their home on Saturday November 22nd. When paramedics arrived at the home, the little girl was struggling to breathe, with bruises covering her back and head.

Kaufmann told police the girl fell from a bed when he was babysitting her while the girl's mother was at work. The teen had moved to the US from Germany in August after meeting Charlie's mum on the internet. The couple had only married about a week ago.

Police arrested Kauffman after doctors revealed the girl had been penetrated and the wound to the back of the head inflicted
"It was unlikely that she could receive such severe head trauma from falling out of the bed. Her injuries were "more consistent with blunt trauma to the back of the skull." the police said
The little girl's father told reporters he'd been wary of Kauffman being around his child and had begged his ex never to leave his child alone with her new husband. He said he'd been trying to remove his little girl from the home before she was killed.

Kaufmann will face murder charges...

N'Assembly drama: Senate sets up panel to probe IG of Police

Posted: 27 Nov 2014 05:17 AM PST

The IG of Police Sulaiman Abba was invited by the House yesterday to explain why his men invaded the National Assembly last week Thursday but after the meeting abruptly ended over the IG's refusal to properly address Speaker Tambuwal, the Senate has now set up a committee to probe IGP Abba and other policemen involved in the siege.

A seven-member committee has been set up to probe the action of the police on that day and the committee have been given seven days to have those behind it brought to book.

Members of the panel include Senator Ahmed Makarfi, who will act as chairman, Abubakar Bagudu, Victor Lar, Adegbenga Kaka, Paulinus Igwe Nwagu, Mohammed Jibrilla Bindowo, and Ehigie Uzamere.
"We are appointing members from this House and we are not bringing anybody from outside and nobody is going to interfere in the work of the committee. We want them to be very thorough, we want them to be very sincere and we want them also to bring the report as quickly as possible." Senate president David Mark said
"That act was unconstitutional, criminal, deliberate and intended to tell us that we are not what we are or what we called ourselves.Where are the privileges of the National Assembly? Can this action be contemplated in South Africa, Ghana, Cameroon or even Mali that is close by? It is impunity of the highest order and we must act and very seriously to do justice to this issue in order to restore the dignity and sanctity of the National Assembly." - Senate Minority Leader, George Akume said
