| Jealous lioness attacks her partner after catching him flirting with another lioness (photos) Posted: 19 Feb 2016 12:44 PM PST  Not in the mood to share her man's affections, the first lioness rushed threateningly towards the pair, the lion in a bid to prevent what he saw as an inevitable fight between the lionesses tried to block her off but she was having none of it, she had been slighted and someone had to pay so she took it out on the lion himself. She battered him and knocked him to the ground at which point he submitted to her aggression. That'll teach him. Lol.        | ||||||
| 25 children die of mysterious disease in Lekki Posted: 19 Feb 2016 12:32 PM PST  "The graves of 20 children who died from the FRI since the day of onset of signs and symptoms in the first case on January 6 were identified by their parents. Also, 34 cases have been line listed so far with 17 males and 17 females; 17 dead patients have been identified with nine males and eight females, all are within the age range of eight and 72 months. The source of the infection is still under investigation and until we know the required source, we cannot say for sure, what is causing it."he saidHe disclosed that the first case of the disease was reported in January 2016 this year in a community predominantly occupied by the Eguns. He said after contracting the ailment, the affected children developed rashes, which was similar to the symptoms of measles, and they died two to three days after. Idris said that a team of epidemiologists from the state ministry of health are yet to come up with the report on the source of the strange infection, but added that the signs and symptoms of the illness suggested Febrile Rash. "Blood samples and throat swabs from the patients and water samples from the community have been taken to the Virology Reference Laboratory"he said He appealed to members of the public to maintain a clean environment as the government battles to stop the spread of the disease. | ||||||

| Nairobi on alert after 6 lions escape from National Park, one caught, 5 still missing Posted: 19 Feb 2016 08:28 AM PST  The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) is looking for about six lions on the loose from the Nairobi National Park. The lions are believed to have escaped to Lang'ata, which is adjacent to the park today. KWS Corporate Communications Officer Paul Udoto said they were not certain of the number of the lions. "The lions were part of the wild population and we are depending on the public to report if they sight them," he said. The wildlife service has advised any person who spots the lions to call KWS. Mr Udoto said the KWS was aware that a lioness had cubbed on the border of Lang'ata Barracks and the park and was monitoring the situation. "However, this morning we were called at 4am and told that some two lionesses, we believe, including the new mother, had been seen on the road near Lang'ata Hospital. We responded immediately. But we have not been able to track them down," he explained. He said another call was made by a member of the public at around 5am claiming to have come across the lions at the bypass near the National Housing Corporation in Lang'ata. | Court grants EFCC's request to seize Tompolo's assets Posted: 19 Feb 2016 07:58 AM PST  The presiding judge, Justice Ibrahim Buba in his ruling on the application filed by EFCC, said the assets should be seized until Tompolo comes out of hiding and appears in court to answer the charges of N45.9bn fraud preferred against him and nine others. Justice Buba ruled that the assets should be auctioned if Tompolo fails to come out of hiding three months after this order. Among the assets to be seized by the EFCC include his house located at No. 1, Chief Agbamu Close DDPA Extension Warri (Effurun), Delta State, his River Crew Change Boat named MUHA -15; "Tompolo Dockyard," "Tompolo Yard," the Diving School at Kurutie, at Escravos River; "Tompolo House" at Oporaza Town, opposite the Palace. | ||||||
