Posted: 13 Aug 2014 10:46 AM PDT Robin William's three children Zak Williams, 31, Zelda Williams, 25 and Cody Williams, 23, have all written their own deeply touching and emotional tributes to their father, who was found hanged in his bedroom on Monday in California after battling with severe depression. "While I'll never, ever understand how he could be loved so deeply and not find it in his heart to stay, there's minor comfort in knowing our grief and loss, in some small way, is shared with millions." - His daughter Zelda wroteWilliams hanged himself while his wife slept in the next room. So sad! See the tributes after the cut... Zelda Williams Tribute 'My family has always been private about our time spent together. It was our way of keeping one thing that was ours, with a man we shared with an entire world. But now that's gone, and I feel stripped bare. 'My last day with him was his birthday, and I will be forever grateful that my brothers and I got to spend that time alone with him, sharing gifts and laughter. He was always warm, even in his darkest moments. 'While I'll never, ever understand how he could be loved so deeply and not find it in his heart to stay, there's minor comfort in knowing our grief and loss, in some small way, is shared with millions. 'It doesn't help the pain, but at least it's a burden countless others now know we carry, and so many have offered to help lighten the load. Thank you for that. 'To those he touched who are sending kind words, know that one of his favorite things in the world was to make you all laugh. As for those who are sending negativity, know that some small, giggling part of him is sending a flock of pigeons to your house to poop on your car. Right after you've had it washed. After all, he loved to laugh too… 'Dad was, is and always will be one of the kindest, most generous, gentlest souls I've ever known, and while there are few things I know for certain right now, one of them is that not just my world, but the entire world is forever a little darker, less colorful and less full of laughter in his absence. We'll just have to work twice as hard to fill it back up again.' 'THE WORLD IS A LITTLE GRAYER': ZAK WILLIAMS ON LOSING HIS DAD'Yesterday, I lost my father and a best friend and the world got a little grayer. I will carry his heart with me every day. 'I would ask those that loved him to remember him by being as gentle, kind, and generous as he would be. Seek to bring joy to the world as he sought.' CODY WILLIAMS MOURNS: 'THE WORLD WILL NEVER BE THE SAME''There are no words strong enough to describe the love and respect I have for my father. The world will never be the same without him. 'I will miss him and take him with me everywhere I go for the rest of my life, and will look forward, forever, to the moment when I get to see him again.' |

The committee, which composed research scientists, is a national body under the Federal Ministry of Health. The endorsement is contained in a statement issued to newsmen by Prof. Clement Adebamowo, Chairman of the committee on Wednesday in Abuja. Continue... The decision by the committee is coming on the heels of Tuesday's approval by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on the use of Zmapp for treatment of Ebola patients. "It is ethical to use these treatments in the current situation without first submitting an application to National, State or Institutional Health Research Ethics Committee for prior review and approval. "In addition, the Committee waives the current requirement that international shipment of any biological samples out of Nigeria should be preceded by the establishment of a Materials Transfer Agreement. "This waiver is to promote rapid international response to this global emergency,'' the statement said. In the statement, the Nigerian National Code for Health Research Ethics emphasised that all innovative and non-validated treatments should be carefully and adequately documented. In the statement, the ethics committee enjoined all agencies, development partners and research scientists to follow the guideline for the rapid resolution of the current emergency. "The guideline will contribute to preparedness in case of future occurrences and contribution to scientific knowledge. "It must be noted that all Phase O and Phase I Clinical Trials that may subsequently be designed for treatment of this infection can be approved only by the National Health Research Ethics Committee,'' it said. At Laserderm Clinics, Getting rid of wrinkles isn’t just for the rich & famous Posted: 13 Aug 2014 05:31 AM PDT If you are in your mid 30's to 50's and above, it is very likely you have started noticing some lines and wrinkles in the mirror. We wish to focus today on the vertical lines that usually occur around the corners of the nose, mouth and under eyes causing dark circles called the tear trough. These are caused by the loss of volume and displacement downwards of fat under the skin due to effects of gravity on the aging and less firm and plump skin. Laserderm Clinics to the rescue. Continue... Facial Fillers: Previously the secret weapon for only the rich and famous but now accessible to everyone who wishes to preserve his or her youthfulness. Fillers are made for synthetic compounds that are safe for your skin. The most common types are made from a natural sugar compound called hyaluronic acid that provides fullness to the skin. Another is made of tiny crystals that contain a calcium substance found in our bones and skin. Your doctor is usually the best person to say which one is best for you. Fillers work underneath the skin to trap water, plump the skin, and restore volume that has been lost, returning the skin to a more youthful condition. They're frequently used in the folds on the sides of the nose and around the corners of the mouth. These areas are particularly susceptible to breakdown because there is so much chewing, talking, and smiling. But facial fillers can also be used to raise scar depressions, plump the lips, and enhance the temples, cheeks, or lower eyelids. With fillers, there is little pain and not much downtime—although swelling and minor bruising can last for up to a week. At Laserderm Clinics, our doctors use a fine needle and may use a numbing cream or local anesthetic to reduce the pain. While this is classified as an in-office procedure, one should always be extremely safety conscious; after all, this is your face. For that reason we at Laserderm Clinics strongly advice this is not a treatment to be done by unqualified personnel and recommend you go see a qualified doctor who understands the complex facial anatomy and has the necessary qualification and training to carry out this procedure. In the hands of the right physician this treatment can be like magic; shaving years off ones appearance. At LaserDerm Clinics we use strictly the highest quality products, Juvederm, Teosyal and Restylane. Our doctors have years of experience and have performed countless procedures both here in Nigeria and the UK. Why not schedule an appointment for a consultation, your face will thank you for it. Ebola: Private Hospitals Reject Patients With Fever Symptoms Posted: 13 Aug 2014 04:33 AM PDT Some private hospitals in Lagos yesterday Tuesday August 12th rejected treating patients who visited them with symptoms of fever as part of measures being taking to prevent contracting the Ebola virus. A visit by the News Agency of Nigeria to some hospitals in Lagos Metropolis showed that nurses and other health workers, including cleaners were seen wearing face mask and gloves while attending to patients. Continue... Also, some of the health facilities were compelling patients to wash their hands and apply sanitisers before proceeding into their building. Some of the hospitals visited included Jaycee Hospital, Prime Hospital, Lifeline Children's Hospital and Providence Hospital. A Neurologist at Jaycee Hospital, Dr. Francis Ojini, told NAN that his hospital did not attend to patients who had with fever. Ojini said that it became necessary as health workers were at greater risk of contracting the virus. "Health workers are the first to be in contact with patients who visited the hospital and so it is necessary we take precautions. "For now, any illness that has to do with fever is not being attended to as we are trying to be careful because of the new development of the Ebola disease. "If there is need, we refer patients we feel we cannot treat. We hope we are able to curtail the spread in order to save lives," he said. A nurse at the same hospital, who pleaded anonymity, said that nurses wore facemask and gloves when any patients visited the facility. He said: "We are protecting ourselves from contracting a deadly disease that has no drug or vaccine at the moment." Allso speaking, the Medical Director, Lifeline Children's Hospital, Dr. Uche Owowo, said that his hospital was making hand sanitisers available for patients. Owowo urged the Federal Government and other civil organisations to intensify awareness programmes to educate the masses about the disease. "Many people still need to know more about the disease, how it can be contracted and how to prevent being infected. "I believe educating people and making the facilities available and accessible will encourage people to be cautious," he said. Efforts to speak with the medical directors and other health workers of Prime Hospital and Providence Hospital proved abortive as they refused to comment. "I was pleased to offer the experimental vaccine developed by Canadian researchers as a global resource to help fight this outbreak," she said, adding that between 800 and 1,000 doses would be donated to the WHO. The Minister in the statement added that "Canada feels this experimental vaccine is a global resource, so in response we are sharing it with the international community, while keeping a small supply in Canada." The news comes hours after the World Health Organization said a panel of experts advised that it would be ethical to use untested drugs and vaccines in this raging epidemic, which is several times larger than any previous outbreak. |
