Boko Haram: Nigerian military denies reports of soldiers fleeing to Cameroon

Posted: 25 Aug 2014 12:37 PM PDT

The Nigerian Defense HQ has denied claims that 480 Nigerian soldiers fled to Cameroon after a sustained battle Boko Haram earlier today at Gamboru-Ngala in Borno state. Find their statement after the cut...

The Nigerian troops that were found in Cameroon was as a result of a sustained battle between the troops and the terrorists around the borders with Cameroun which saw the Nigerian troops charging through the borders in a tactical maneuver.  Eventually they found themselves on Camerounian soil.  Being allies the normal protocol of managing such incident demanded that the troops submit their weapons in order to assure the friendly country that they were not on a hostile mission.
Following necessary discussions between Nigerian and Camerounian military authorities, the issues have been sorted out.  Subsequently, the troops are on their way back to join their unit in Nigeria.
The reference to the incidence as a defection is therefore not appropriate considering the discussion between the two countries' military leadership and the series of contacts with the soldiers who have confirmed that they are safe.
Meanwhile, troops are repelling a group of terrorists who are trying to enter the country through Gamborou Ngala.    A group of them who fizzled into the town are being pursued.

Read this deep and controversial article about God and Ebola

Posted: 25 Aug 2014 07:49 AM PDT

UK Guardian columnist Michelle Hanson wrote this article that has sparked quite a debate on social
media about God and why He saved an American doctor and let 1,200 Africans die of the Ebola virus. The writer, who said she gave up on God many years ago, wondered how God works. Find the article below...
"Lucky Dr Kent Brantly, the American doctor who has recovered from Ebola, having been given a dose of the experimental antibody serum Zmapp, whizzed home to the US, and given another dose. He is now thanking God for saving his life. Through the medical team and drugs, he admits, but ultimately, it seems, God was in charge. And he chose Brantly, not the other 1,200 mainly west African people who have died horribly, which seems a bit picky." Continue...
It must be lovely for Brantly to be so sure of things. I tried, aged 10, to work out whether God was around or not, but couldn't. "What was his actual shape?" I wondered. And how could he be everywhere, all at once? How big, for example, was his toenail? Did it cover Ruislip, where I lived? I imagined him constantly on the go, distant enough for an effective overview and able to home in on catastrophes and act. But it was very hit and miss. Would he be on the spot when you needed him, like Brantly did? On and on I went for years, trying to believe in him. I even went camping with a tremendously religious youth organisation, but despite the prayers and observances, even the devout did some frightfully rude things in their tents. And there was no divine retribution. I gave up on God, for ever.
Millions didn't. They seem to be obeying his instructions to the letter, which isn't doing the world any favours. But at last, a bit of good news. The Jehovah's Witnesses are mellowing. They have a new tactic. Instead of just knocking on doors, they're also allowed to stand beside their literature, smiling, near shops and stations, letting us approach voluntarily. Marvelous. It's a shame they didn't do this years ago, when my old friend was a Jehovah's Witness. She was terrified sick of being sent to knock on our door. Luckily it never happened.
If only all religions would take this hands-off approach and let us all believe whatever we like. No pressure. I hope that one day, that will happen. I would say "Please, God," but I can't.

Mercy Johnson speaks on why she loves Genevieve Nnaji

Posted: 25 Aug 2014 05:26 AM PDT

Mercy Johnson has spoken once again of her love for actress Genevieve Nnaji, who she says is her role model. Speaking with City People magazine, Mercy Johnson said she adores Genevieve and doesn't know what she can do that will be better than what Genevieve has done in the movie industry
"I think I have one of the best role models ever. I like Genevieve like crazy. I started watching her movies from the onset but I didn't want to be Genevieve, I wanted to be Mercy with the motivation that a Genevieve could give me. So I watched lots of movies. I don't play with her movies. I don't know what I can do that will be better than what she has done. But I just try to improve on it, try to do it the way she will do it and perhaps even better to my own level. I practice like all the time. It is like a passion. It is just where I want to be. I am alive and I am in my space. It was paramount to perfect that space. I need everything. I watch everything. Nothing passes me by. I watch newscasters reading there news and after they are done, I sit down the way they do and read the news like that. So it is practice and Passion." she said. Continue...
Mercy went further to say that her love for Genevieve has never been hypocritical.
"It was never a hypocritical kind of love or likeness. It was plain. I didn't even ever think I will become close to her. It is like I can meet her anytime I want to".
On how she felt when she first met Genevieve Nnaji;
"Ahh! The first time I met her, my friend took me there. When we got to where she was, I became nervous. I told my friend "no, let me hide in your boot". And I did. I got into her boot. Can you imagine I came to see her and when I got there, I wanted to run back. I jumped into my friend's boot. So when she came out of the hotel, I could not see her, I could only hear her voice. The 2nd time I saw her was on set. When she came down and I met her, she said" "Ahh! Mercy, I like your movies" and I started crying. I was in tears of joy. I said "Aunty Genny, so you watch my movies?". She was sort of embarrassed. Before I met her, she had already known that there was somebody who was crazily insane about her. She was really nice to me, receptive. And even whenever we work together, she will correct me and say, that thing you did, you could have done it this way. Usually in life, you will know somebody, who is more than you. Give him or her that respect. You can't fight a battle you can't win. It does not make any sense. If somebody is much more bigger than you, there is nothing as big as you admitting it and hearing it from that person. I didn't come into the picture to compete with anybody. I came to learn, do it well, make it and be there" she said

LIB exclusive: Why Peter Okoye threatened to expose bank..

Posted: 25 Aug 2014 05:12 AM PDT

About three weeks ago, Peter Okoye of P-Square took to twitter to threaten to expose a bank over fraudulent transactions. He gave the bank 5 days to return his money or be exposed and sued (See that here).

Well, five days has passed and Peter hasn't said anything about the issue again...but I just found out what went down...(get in here for the exclusive details...:-))

Will tell you what happened but will leave out the name of the bank. So in May, Peter Okoye found out that millions of Naira had been withdrawn from one of his personal accounts with a bank leaving him with less than N300k. He met with the management of the bank to find out what happened and they promised to resolve it. Fast forward to August and the money hadn't been returned and so Peter went on social media to threaten.

Immediately he made the threat online, the bank called him begging him not to mention their name, that the money will be refunded soon. They called him for a meeting about two weeks ago and told him to give them 11 working days to refund the money.

Well, the eleven working days has expired and Peter still hasn't received his money. I hear he may speak officially on it anytime soon.

'President Jonathan is not sick' - Presidency

Posted: 25 Aug 2014 05:00 AM PDT

Presidential spokesperson Reuben Abati has denied media reports that the president, who left for Germany on Friday August 22nd, is sick and is in Germany for medical checkup.

Abati said Jonathan traveled to Germany for a private visit and not because he is sick. He said the false report is being peddled by a newspaper outfit owned by a chieftain of an opposition party.
"Before leaving Nigeria, I issued a statement that the President will be embarking on a private visit to Germany with a few of his aides. On Saturday, I sent out a statement that the President spoke with the Falconets on the telephone. I also sent out the video and audio of his conversation with the players where he promised to stay awake and watch the final match. The NTA and some other broadcasting stations aired the video and audio. There are also photographs out there showing the President when he was leaving Nigeria and when he was arriving Germany. The President is hale and hearty. In fact, he is treating files in his hotel room. Are these not enough proofs that Mr. President is not sick as they want Nigerians to believe? It is important to note that the publisher of the newspaper that has been writing this false report is a chieftain of an opposition party who also have an ambition to be President." Abati said...
