Primary school teacher rapes 10year old pupil

Posted: 14 Aug 2014 07:59 AM PDT

Adeniran Adebayo, (pictured above) a primary school teacher has been arrested and arranged in court by the Lagos state police command for raping a primary 4 pupil inside the toilet of their private primary school located on Olateju Ilesanmi Street, Baruwa, Ipaja area of Lagos, Punch reports.

Testifying before a Lagos State Chief Magistrate Court in Ebutte Metta yesterday August 13th, the Investigating Police officer from the state Criminal Investigation Department Yaba said he interrogated the little girl three times in which she affirmed that her teacher, Mr Adeniran, who is married with two children, had lured her to the school toilet and forced himself into her and then threatened to flog her if she screamed. Continue...
The police officer investigating the case said;

"I interviewed the victim after the matter was brought to the SCID. She said on the fateful day, she was in school after the closing hours and was waiting for her younger brother, who attended the same school, so they could go back home together. While waiting, she decided to get busy with her assignments. She said it was while she was doing the assignment that the teacher came and said she should follow him. He then took her to a toilet within the school premises and threatened to cane her if she screamed, unzipped himself, undressed the pupil and made love to her. The girl said she was crying while this was on. It was a female teacher, who was passing by that heard her cry. The female teacher came closer to have a better look and immediately the suspect saw her, he quickly zipped up. The pupil said the female teacher told him that being a teacher, he should never have taken advantage of the girl."
The accused, Mr Adeniran, while narrating what happened to the Chief Magistrate, denied the claims, saying he never raped the girl
"I am the health teacher of the school. I married five years ago, and have two sons. There are six male teachers in the school. On that day, I didn't call the girl. I only stood at the gate and asked her and her brother to go home. That was all. I was surprised that after four days, they came to my office and arrested me. The toilet in question has never even been used by anybody." he said
The Chief Magistrate, O.O. Olatunji, was however not satisfied by his own account, stating that children between the ages of 6-11 never tell lies
"Kids hardly lie, especially when they are between the ages of six to 11. And that's why I find it hard to believe the account of the defendant. People like you should not be in the society. If like you said there were six male teachers in your school, why did she decide to pick only you? It's such a big shame," the Chief magistrate said
The police prosecutor advised the court to remand the accused in prison but he was granted bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum. The judge ordered Adeniran should be remanded in Prison until the bail conditions have been fulfilled. The case was adjourned till October 15th.

Aliko Dangote donates N150million to fight Ebola in Nigeria

Posted: 14 Aug 2014 07:27 AM PDT

Africa's richest man Aliko Dangote has donated N150million to help in the fight of the spread of the Ebola virus in Nigeria.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Dangote Foundation, Mrs Adhiambo Odaga announced this at a media briefing at the Ministry of Health, Abuja on Monday. She said the money will be available for the establishment of an Ebola emergency operation centre in Lagos.
"After bilateral discussion with the honourable minister and his team, Dangote foundation has funded the establishment of the Ebola emergency operation in Lagos, that is being done through grant from the foundation of just a little over N150 million," she said. Continue...
"The strategy that our chairman is deploying is the strategy to respond and to commend government for the effort, and to show that all Nigerians are concerned. We will continue to discuss with the ministry about what additional support can be offered.
"And we also have been approached by several parties who are interested in partnering with the government, and we would continue that discussion."
Odaga relayed Dangote's call to all Nigerians to join the federal government in the fight against Ebola, expressing optimism that the disease would be contained.
"The choice of the emergency operation centre as an investment for Dangote Foundation is based on the fact that is the critical platform through which the government is coordinating all that is happening to ensure that the crisis is contained," she added.

Army battle to retake gwoza as Boko Haram kills 20, kidnap women

Posted: 14 Aug 2014 05:33 AM PDT

Nigerian troops have massed around Gwoza to retake the town from members of the Islamist group, Boko Haram, military sources have disclosed. The battle for control of Gwoza rages as reports emerged that Boko Haram insurgents yesterday killed 20 people in Doro Baga in Kukawa local government area of Borno State. The residents of the embattled village also disclosed that the militants kidnapped several women in an early morning raid. Continue...

One military source in Abuja told SaharaReporters that the soldiers on the mission to recapture the town were drafted from Maiduguri and Mubi in Adamawa State. The officer added that special Army and Air Force units had been pounding Boko Haram positions since yesterday.
"Over 1000 soldiers are involved in this operation to take Gwoza back from Boko Haram," said the officer, adding that the troop commanders were confident of dislodging the insurgents in a matter of hours or days.

A resident of Bama, which is 35 miles from Gwoza, told SaharaReporters that he had observed a large contingent of troops moving towards Gwoza in the last 24 hours. He also stated that he had heard gunfire overnight.

Boko Haram insurgents overran Gwoza last week, killing at least 100 residents, including the wife of the town's emir, his brother, and the chief Imam of Gwoza.

Shortly after taking over Gwoza, Boko Haram militants repelled a column of soldiers that came from Bama to chase them away, inflicting a significant casualty on the troops. Two days later, a group of soldiers from the 234 Battalion led by Lieutenant Colonel Agu had to abandon Gwoza when Boko Haram fighters overwhelmed them. In that battle, the Islamist militants captured one military tank and its driver. They also burnt two other tanks.

Some of the soldiers who spoke anonymously to SaharaReporters said the lack of communication equipment inside the tanks was responsible for the costly tactical errors in the earlier Gwoza operation. "The front tank suddenly turned back when its weaponry malfunctioned," said one soldier. He added that, unable to figure out the reason for the sudden turn around, the troops took to their heels instead of positioning the three other tanks behind to engage the militants.

Officials at Nigeria's Defense Headquarters in Abuja have declined to speak officially about the latest battle, but a military source in Abuja anonymously confirmed that the military had started waging a wide range of operational activities aimed at driving Boko Haram militants out of Gwoza.

My view about Life
In life, you will realize there is a role for everyone you meet. Some will test you, some will use you, some will love you and some will teach you. But the ones who are truly important are the ones who bring out the best in you. They are the rare and amazing people who remind you why its worth it. Never take a shortcut that might hurt your fellow man.

As a media practitioner & Artiste, both careers are time demanding and requires full concentration. I do media job during the week while music goes for weekends. Sometimes i wake up in the midnight to write songs.

I just released a new single, Arise Africa produced by Tj Bennie. The video directed by Tolucci

ARISE AFRICA is a groovy feel good song written by PAUL AKADI to awaken the African Spirit of Hard Work and Resourcefulness while simultaneously showcasing the Flora and Fauna of the African Landscape.
My inspiration, I was reading an article by Leigh Mc Adam (Hike Bike Travel) talking about 33 interesting facts about Africa where i saw many beautiful things about Africa.

Secondly, i was invited as a performing artiste for one of the biggest yearly event organized by African Television in Netherlands. The event is called ''Beautiful Africa Day'' I needed to come up with a song that talks about how beautiful Africa is. My friend, OjoDipo also came up with a poem about Africa which gave me so much inspiration.

Wattaguan? Akon loses his Ferrari, his brother Bu loses his mansion

Posted: 14 Aug 2014 05:08 AM PDT

Looks like hard times for the Thiam Brothers. According to TMZ, the repo man is coming for Akon's Ferrari 458 Italia claiming singer and record label exec owes $250k on his lease. The car is actually worth $225k but the total cost of the lease is a whopping $360k! This what happens when you don't do cash and carry.

Also his younger brother, record exec Bu Thiam, who is also Chris Brown's manager, has lost his Georgia mansion after falling behind on property taxes. The 5 bedroom, 5 1/2 bath, 4,659 sq foot house sold at auction for $500k. Bu paid $708k for the home in 2011.

"I don't owe you any explanation' - says Minister who approved Sawyer's trip to Nigeria

Posted: 14 Aug 2014 08:22 AM PDT

The Liberian Minister who approved late Patrick Sawyer's trip to Nigeria has angrily reacted after he was criticized for letting Sawyer, a staff of the Liberian government, leave Liberia for Nigeria despite Liberian health officials placing him on Ebola danger list.

Deputy Finance Minister Sebastian Muah Omar told a Facebook user who asked him why he made such a decision that he does not owe him any explanation. He also said he wasn't late Sawyer's doctor to stop him from traveling.

One of the minister's followers queried him, saying,
"As his superior, if a man tells you his sister died from Ebola and he could have been exposed do you not think it is your duty to ask the hard questions or maybe you could have reported this to the health officials?...
See the minister's reply after the cut...

The Minister said...

"A friend is dead, I do not owe you any explanation. POS (Patrick Sawyer) was a public health practitioner if you must know. The Ugandan doctor was a medical doctor if you again must know. They are no longer. So the freaking issue is not why he lied or didn't lie to travel. But how we address the freaking disease. If you don't have jack to say in that direction then frankly shut up on the subject. Sebastian Muah doesn't have time today frankly for your rants." The minister said...continue...

The Facebook follower said;
"Stop making silly excuses as to not being his doctor. This does not excuse you from asking the questions as a government official that would safeguard the lives of our citizens and your international partners. It is your duty, again as a Government official not wanting to go above and beyond his duty to safe guard our population.
Oh hell yes you do owe Liberians and the international community an explanation
You have through your negligence of not asking the proper questions exposed others to such a horrible Virus and you on here talking bull.
The minister replied
"The old people say empty drum can't make noise. So you will be talking by yourself as I see you don't know what you are talking about and as a matter of finding solution you do not have any but trying to find blame. Someone must have frustrated the hell out of you in Liberia O…. Take me to the international court since I am guilty of approving a travel."
'You are guilty of causing two more deaths, you silly man!' Oh...this is from Linda.
