British plane sent to search for missing school girls breaks down

A British surveillance jet which was on its way to Nigeria to help in the search for missing Chibok girls reportedly broke down in Senegal due to unspecified technical problems.

UK Ministry of Defense released a statement explaining this...
"A technical fault which has delayed the Sentinel aircraft on its way to Ghana is being investigated and will be solved as soon as possible. In the meantime the UK military team continues its work on the ground while other surveillance aircraft continue the search for the missing schoolgirls," .
British Prime Minister, David Cameron, announced that Britain would offer Nigeria a surveillance jet to help in the search of the missing girls.

A Nigerian Custom officer named Mr Nwaeze who heads the Customs unit at Mosafejo Aradagun, has been accused of allegedly attacking  a woman identified as Ms Tope Fadipe with acid after an argument over money.
 
Sahara Reporters reports that Ms Fadipe, who served as a salesgirl at a local food business run by Mr Nwanze's family for 3 years, was attacked by an angry Nwaeze on Friday May 9th, after she argued with him when he accused of her of not remitting N50,000 into the business account.
 
After the acid attack, the matter was reported at the Badagry Police Station, and Mr. Nwaeze had boasted that no one could arrest him. On Saturday, the 10th of May, one day after the incident, Mr. Nwaeze was said to have appeared at the Police Station, and had returned shortly afterwards to show he is above arrest. Continue...
 
Currently, residents say, Nwaeze belched his car radio speakers loudly whenever driving in the street, with a carriage posting to show that he is above impunity since the May 9th incident.

A resident in the street told SaharaReporters that it is part of Mr. Nwaeze's forte, to "intimidate and oppress people with impunity," due to his status as a Customs Officer.

The victim, Tope Fadipe, is currently being treated for her severe burns at the Badagry General Hospital. Witnesses and doctors say her condition is worsening since that attack.

Saharareporters learned through a medical source that, Nwaeze has now tried to secretly collect Ms. Tope from the hospital, without giving off any hint what he wants to do with her.

Chibok girls: Gov Shettima replies Asari Dokubo, calls him a jester

Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima has replied Asari Dokubo who has in recent times alleged that the missing Chibok girls is all a scam and the handiwork of the governor. In a statement by the Governor's spokesperson, Isa Gusau, Shettima described Dokubo as a jester who no serious minded Nigerian should take serious. The statement below...
"Governor Shettima is too serious minded to reply Asari Dokubo who is just a joker as most Nigerians regard him. As a onetime journalist covering the Niger Delta, I had come in direct contact with Asari when he organized a rally in support of late Gaddafi in Port Harcourt and also when he organized the 2011/2012 Isaac Boro lecture in Port Harcourt which he kept interrupting, taking over the microphone from people like respected lawyers like Festus Keyamo, intermittently speaking without protocol and without shame like a child. He is just a joke, no reasonable Nigerian takes him serious. He was reported saying Chibok abduction was a sham, I won't be surprised if by next week the same Asari Dokubo leads another rally to counter the one he just held. Last year, Asari was reported speaking against Presidency, then he changed tune now we don't know what happened but that is how he is, he uses the media for personal interest and some sort of blackmail." He is trying to force unwilling public to see him different from who he is but like a say goes, 'you can fool some people all the time, you can fool all the people sometime but you cannot fool all the people all the time. Asari dubiously took advantage of Isaac Boro event which attracts participants to say what he said so that the procession would seem like a support base for his isolated opinion. I saw some pictures of some girls in one house displaying some placards, from the faces, I think he probably assembled some of his immediate and extended family members and gave them placards. One person wrote on all the cards, the same writing, all of which look like a sort of Mickey Mouse scene in cartoon series. How can Governor Shettima reply a jester, how can he respond to such a play by Asari that falls far below the standard of Nollywood when he is busy working very hard with all relevant bodies finding ways on how to secure the freedom of his and Borno's precious daughters in captivity?" "I foresaw Borno state govt hand in girl's abduction" Primate Ayodele

Speaking about the state of the nation, the Boko Haram menace and foreign intervention, Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele, the Founder/Spiritual Head of Inri Evangelical Church, Lagos, in a press statement released a few weeks ago said the Nigerian govt shouldn't trust America, that he foresaw Borno state government's hand in the abduction of Chibok girls and that a sect deadlier than  Boko Haram will rise. Excerpts from his predictions below...
"We have said it before that there would be foreign intervention in the fight against Boko Haram. We said it before that Nigerian Government was incapable of defeating the sect all alone. I still foresee Boko Haram attacking major government buildings and high rise buildings around Nigeria. Even Aso Rock is not safe. Boko Haram is not alone in the terror act. There are three major sects involved in fighting the government and what they are fighting for is the disintegration of Nigeria and people sponsoring the programme are within and outside the country and are in President Jonathan's government. "We are still maintaining that Boko haram leader, Shekau, will not be captured alive but he will be killed in the battle front. God said that Boko Haram will be weakened spiritually and then they will be defeated physically".

Manchester United appoints Louis van Gaal as new manager

Manchester United has announced Louis van Gaal as its new manager. He succeeds David Moyes who lost his job in April. In a statement released this afternoon, the club said the 62 year old, who is currently Netherlands manager, will sign a three year contract with Manchester United.
Excited about his appointment, van Gaal said;
"It was always a wish for me to work in the Premier League. To work as a manager for Manchester United, the biggest club in the world makes me proud" he said.
Louis van Gaal will assume his new position with Man U after the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Police Press Release: Police avert another bomb blast in Kano

The Police in Kano today, 19th May, 2014, about 9:00am averted what could have been another devastating bomb blast in the ancient city of Kano. Kano Police operatives, acting on intelligence, tracked and recovered a Mitsubishi Station Wagon car, ash in colour, with registration number Kano – AE 756 GSW loaded with assorted gas cylinders, one container of fuel and other electrical components of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). The vehicle was recovered at Tafawa Balewa Street, Nasarawa area of Kano State and has since been rendered safe by Police Bomb Disposal experts.
Meanwhile, security agencies in Kano have commenced investigation into both the aborted blast as well as the last night bomb incident. Continue...
It will be recalled that a suspected suicide bomber detonated an IED yesterday, 18th May, 2014, about 9:30pm at Middle Road, off Gold Coast Street, Sabon Gari, Kano. The blast led to the death of five persons including the suspected suicide bomber. Seven persons were injured, four of them already treated and discharged while six vehicles were also damaged.

While commiserating with the families and friends of the victims of the last night incident, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP MD Abubakar, CFR, NPM, mni, psc called for the cooperation of all in the fight against terrorism. He promised that the law enforcement agencies will continue to do their best towards winning the ongoing war against terrorism.

Stealing is not corruption, says ICPC Chairman

The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) chairman, Mr. Ekpo Nta recently agreed to a statement made by President Jonathan during his May 4th media chat that, stealing is not corruption.
 
While addressing members of  the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, at the ICPC Headquarters' in Abuja, Mr Nta said there is a difference between stealing and corruption  and it is wrong to classify theft as corruption. He said that we should refer back to what we were taught about stealing and corruption in school
"Stealing is erroneously reported as corruption. We must go back to what we were taught at school to show that there are educated people in Nigeria. We must address issues as we were taught in school to do".
He likened the misunderstanding of stealing and corruption to the mindset of the ordinary Nigerian who believes a roadside mechanic is also an engineer. Really? These people are strange!!!

In a recent interview with City People magazine, Nollywood screen legend Joke Silva talked about her lack of cooking skills and other ways she takes care of her husband, screen legend, Olu Jacobs..
"I have never lied about this, I have never been 'a doing the cooking kind of woman'. When my husband met me, he knew. He was the one who used to do the cooking because he is good at it. I used to do the cooking when I felt like. Sometimes, it comes out to be a huge success and sometimes a failure. Some years ago, I cooked vegetables and it was terrible and my husband is such a gem, he ate it like that. It is not as if my mum didn't teach me. For my husband, cooking is a therapy and for me it is a chore and yet he will always tell you that I look after him so much, I do that in other ways. We have somebody who does the cooking. I have taught them to cook the way I like and we have people who do the general cleaning."
