Will and Jada Smith's 13 year old daughter, Willow, was photographed in bed with her friend, 20 year old actor, Moises Arias, who is shirtless in the pic. Many feel it's inappropriate because she's just 13, whether anything inappropriate happened or not. Willow and the Disney actor have been friends for a while.

The pic was shown to L.A law enforcement who say there's nothing "sexual enough" in the pic to raise concern. Do you think it's inappropriate?

Malala Yousafzai & Naomi Campbell lend their voice to missing girls

Posted: 07 May 2014 12:35 PM PDT

The Pakistani schoolgirl who made a heroic recovery after being shot in the head by Taliban because she stood up for education, Malala Yousafzai, has shown support for missing Chibok girls. Speaking with CNN, the 16 year old Nobel Peace nominee said "I think they haven't studied Islam yet, they haven't studied Quran yet, and they should go and they should learn Islam. Islam means peace. I think that they should think of these girls as their own sisters. How can one imprison his own sisters and treat them in such a bad way?"

Super model Naomi Campbell also learnt her support.

Nigeria’s Stolen Girls - What New York Times wrote about GEJ

Posted: 07 May 2014 01:23 PM PDT

Below is a New York Times editorial published yesterday May 6. Y'all need to read this. Find below..
Three weeks after their horrifying abduction in Nigeria, 276 of the more than 300 girls who were taken from a school by armed militants are still missing, possibly sold into slavery or married off. Nigerian security forces apparently do not know where the girls are and the country's president, Goodluck Jonathan, has been shockingly slow and inept at addressing this monstrous crime.
On Tuesday, the United Nations Children's Fund said Boko Haram, the ruthless Islamist group that claimed responsibility for the kidnappings, abducted more young girls from their homes in the same part of the country in the northeast over the weekend. The group, whose name roughly means "Western education is a sin," has waged war against Nigeria for five years. Its goal is to destabilize and ultimately overthrow the government. The group's leader, Abubakar Shekau, said in a video released on Monday, "I abducted your girls. I will sell them in the market, by Allah."
This is not the first time Boko Haram has attacked students, killing young men and kidnapping young women. The security situation in Northeast Nigeria has steadily deteriorated. In the first three months of this year, attacks by Boko Haram and reprisals by government security forces have killed at least 1,500 people, more than half of them civilians, according to Amnesty International. Until now, there has been little response to the violence, either in Nigeria or internationally. But the kidnapping of so many young girls, ages 12 to 15, has triggered outrage and ignited a rare anti government protest movement in Nigeria.

On Sunday, after weeks of silence, Mr. Jonathan admitted that "this is a trying time for our country," and he said that Nigerians were justified in their anger against the government and appealed for international help. The reaction of Mr. Jonathan's wife, Patience, was stunningly callous; according to state news media, she told one of the protest leaders, "You are playing games. Don't use schoolchildren and women for demonstrations again."

Boko Haram's claim that it follows Islamic teachings is nonsense. A pre-eminent Islamic theological institute, Al-Azhar in Egypt, denounced the abductions, saying it "completely contradicts the teachings of Islam and its tolerant principles." Although Boko Haram is believed to number no more than a few hundred men, Nigerian security forces have been unable to defeat them.

Mr. Jonathan, who leads a corrupt government that has little credibility, initially played down the group's threat and claimed security forces were in control. It wasn't until Sunday, more than two weeks after the kidnappings, that he called a meeting of government officials, including the leader of the girls' school, to discuss the incident. There is no doubt the intelligence and investigation help President Obama offered on Monday is needed.

The kidnappings occurred just as President Jonathan is about to hold the World Economic Forum on Africa, with 6,000 troops deployed for security. That show of force may keep the delegates safe, but Nigeria's deeply troubled government cannot protect its people, attract investment and lead the country to its full potential if it cannot contain a virulent insurgency.

Ebonyi Assembly orders probe of collapsed centenary tower

Posted: 07 May 2014 11:26 AM PDT

Ebonyi State House of Assembly, yesterday ordered an investigation into the remote and immediate causes of the collapse, over the weekend, of the centenary tower under construction.

The house described the collapse of the N60m edifice as a huge embarrassment to the government and people of the state.

The house took the decision following a motion brought by the member representing Onicha East Constituency, Obasi Odefa. Continue...

The lawmaker in his motion regretted that the state has lost huge amount of money to the collapse of the building.

He, therefore, called on the house to mandate its committee on works to launch an investigation into the remote and immediate causes of the collapse.

All those involved in the construction especially the contractor and the State Ministry of Works, he said should be summoned to make presentations on the matter.

Other speakers who spoke also supported the call by Odefa.

The motion was put to a voice vote and the whole house voted in the affirmative.

Speaker Chukwuma Nwazunku directed the Works Committe to immediately commence investigations on the collapse with a view to finding out the remote and immediate causes of the collapse.

The Committee, which is headed by Mabel Aleke representing Ohaukwu South, has two weeks to conclude its report and brief the house accordingly.

The Centenary Tower being built by the State Government at the entrance of Ochudo secretariate in Abakaliki, collapsed at the weekend.

The tower was being built at the cost of N60million to commemorate the amalgamation of the Southern and Northern protectorate of the country in 1914 by the British government.

The tower has two parts, the concrete two story base and an iron tower on top.

It was the iron tower that fell obviously due to a strong gust of windstorm that was experienced in the city on Saturday night.

The concrete two story base was not affected. No injuries or lives were lost in the incident.

Commissioner for Works, Chukwuma Nwandiugo said he will brief the media on the incident  after he has  briefed governor Martin Elechi.

He noted that the project was initiated, awarded and is being supervised by the works sub-committee of the State's Centenary Committee and not his ministry.

He, however, maintained that the incident was caused by a natural disaster and not as a result of poor quality of work.

When our reporter visited the scene of the incident, some workers were seen dismantling the destroyed tower even as heaps of the coverings were seen lying beside the tower.

Chairman of the Centenary Committee and former Deputy Governor of the state, Prof Chigozie Ogbu could not be reached for comment.

He did not answer calls placed to his phone was yet to reply SMS messages sent to him.

Video: US woman posts video of her abortion on YouTube

Posted: 07 May 2014 04:31 AM PDT

A US abortion counselor outraged thousands of people after she posted a video of herself having an abortion on YouTube. 25 year old Emily Letts, who said she got pregnant by mistake, filmed herself having a surgical abortion, which she said she wanted to use to "show other women it wasn't scary".

Emily, who was about 2 months pregnant, said she could have swallowed an abortion pill instead of going in for surgery, but wanted to do the one that women were most afraid of. "I wanted to show it wasn't scary - and that there is such a thing as a ppositive abortion story. It's my story."

In the three minutes video, Emily is seen being wheeled into the operating theater before being filmed from the waist up as doctors remove the embryo from her womb. She remains awake throughout the procedure, numbed only by local anesthetic. After the procedure is over, Emily excitedly says 'I'm done. Yay!'

The video has disgusted many people, especially pro-life campaigners who are asking her bosses at the Cherry Hill Women's Center in New Jersey to sack her.
"I got... "You deserve to die", "you killed your baby' but I don't feel like a bad person. I knew I wasn't ready to take care of a child. I knew what I was going to do was right - it was right for me and for no one else,' Emily said. Watch the video after the cut...

Suspected rapist drugs, attacks pupil inside bush

Posted: 07 May 2014 03:47 AM PDT

A suspected rapist in Osun state drugged and attacked a 15 year old secondary school student of Young Tajudeen Middle School, Ede, Osun for supposedly refusing him sex, Punch reports.

According to reports, on Wednesday April 30th, the victim who lived with her grandmother, had gone to the bush to pick mangoes when she was accosted by the alleged rapist who begged her for some mangoes. She said she obliged him but afterwards the man demanded for sex which refused. She said the man immediately forced a pill into her mouth which made her unconscious. By the time she woke up, there were machete cuts on her head, legs and wrist.

Explaining what happened, the girl said
"I went to the farm to pick mangoes on the day I was attacked. As I was heading for home, I met a man who asked me to give him some mangoes and I did. The man asked me of my name and I told him my name is Suweba, but my real name is (withheld). The man later said  he wanted to have sex with me, but I told him I was too young for that. The man threatened to cut off my head if I didn't oblige him. He held my head, forced my mouth open and dropped a white pill inside my mouth. I fell down and I became unconscious. I was attacked around 2pm and I woke up when it was getting dark maybe around 7pm. I managed to crawl to the footpath and shouted for help, but none came until the following morning." she said

Passersby the next morning found the girl on the pathway and then immediately rushed her to the hospital where it was discovered that the wounds she sustained had already started decaying with maggots coming out from it.

Hospital staff, who described the attack as callous, believe the girl could have been attacked 48 hours before she was brought into the hospital and not the previous day as she said because of the maggot  infested wound.

Hospital staff say they would conduct test on her to ascertain if she was truly raped.

The men reportedly came into town in armored personnel carrier and armed with Improvised Explosive Devices, petrol bombs, assault rifles and Rocket Propelled Launchers. They targeted the market in the town, shooting people and then proceeded to set ablaze houses and properties in the area.

Confirming the incident to BBC Hausa service in Maiduguri, Senator Ahmed Zannah who represents the area at the national assembly said the 12 hour attack happened in the night when the people were sleeping. Continue...

About 300 persons were confirmed dead after the incident, with several others injured. Almost all the houses in the communities were destroyed by the hoodlums who threw IEDs at the buildings. My brother who was at the scene of the attack told me that the actual number of the dead cannot be ascertained but at least they are up to 300. In fact, as he spoke he wept following the high number of the dead bodies which littered the market." he said
According to him, the Islamic sect men gained access to the town after the military men stationed there moved out to pursue the sect men following intelligence report that they were sighted at the Lake chad axis with some abducted girls
