Children raped, forced to eat faeces in Indian school - police

Posted: 30 May 2014 08:29 AM PDT

The owner and manager of a children's boarding school in Maharashtra have been arrested after five minors said they were raped, forced to watch pornographic films and act them out with one another, police and charity workers said.

The children were made to eat faeces as a punishment if they did not comply.

The 52-year-old owner of the Chandraprabha Charitable Trust and his 30-year-old female manager were arrested on Monday after a police raid on the school in Karjat city. Continue...

"We received a police complaint from the Childline charity saying that one child had gone home for the holidays and confessed to his mother that abuses were happening," Karjat's Police Inspector R.R. Patil told the Thomson Reuters Foundation late on Thursday.

"Five children in total have now come forward and we have booked the two suspects under various offences," he said, adding that these included unnatural sex (sodomy), wrongful confinement and sexual assault.

The school accommodated 28 underprivileged children, aged between 4 and 14, for 10 months of the year, said Patil, but most were on holiday at home at the time of the raid.

Police were trying to find out whether other children were abused and if there were any other suspects.

Anuradha Sahasrabudhe of Childline, a charity supported by the government, said the children had spoken about all kinds of sexual and physical abuse.

"It's a horrific case. The children have been telling us about the sexual abuse going on there. There has been oral sex, there has been forced sex... These things have been photographed," Saharasabudhe told the NDTV news channel.

"Children have been punished by making them eat dog excreta and when they vomited, they were made to eat vomit," she added.

Police say the residential school had been running since 2002, but was not registered and had therefore escaped government inspections by child welfare officials.

My lesson

Posted: 30 May 2014 06:24 AM PDT

Article not written by me o. But enjoy...:-)
This fateful Saturday morning, as I try to conclude my washing, I hear my phone beep but I ignore thinking it must be a notification from one of these social networks.
Two hours have passed, I have had a bath, eaten and about to take a nap when my phone beeps again. 'Nice pix cutie', 'kfb' the twitter notifications read… I was surprised to have been noticed because of my lack of involvement in social networks due to my tight schedule at work… curious, I checked his profile , it read  'My name is Greg, I work with Exxon Mobil, a Christian  and I am here to make  new friends' . Few seconds later I received a direct message from Greg. I got more interested as the conversation grew.

After weeks of chatting day and night we picked a dinner date.

Excited, I showed up in my Josie Natori dress, Jimmy Choo shoes and Louis Vuitton purse. Greg looked like a happy groom in his black suit. Love filled the air as the whole of the five star hotel couldn't contain us. Greg treated me to the best first date ever and just when I thought we had it all together, a pregnant woman and two little girls walked towards us screaming ' Daddy!' 'Daddy!' The scale fell of my eyes when this woman gave me the slap of my life calling me a husband snatcher and all sorts. She dragged Greg by his belt and threatened to pluck out my eyes if she finds me anywhere around her husband as they walked out of the five star hotel…

It dawned on me the whole VIP treatment, expensive food and drinks was on me when the waiter gave me our bill of 17,450 naira. Confused, I tried to search through my purse as if I was expecting to find money in it, then a lady on the next table calls my attention, showing me my Payment Card that fell out of my purse earlier. Reluctant, I picked it up but then it struck a chord, a hotel this big should offer e-payment options and so I asked for a POS which was promptly provided. I was relieved, I was saved.

I guess I learnt my lesson…

'Old women still have sexual urges' - actress Taiwo Ajai-Lycett says

Posted: 30 May 2014 05:26 AM PDT

While promoting her stage play, Hear Word, where she plays a sexually active old woman, veteran actress Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, said old people still enjoy sex and some are quite sexually active.
"I am an old woman in the play and in real life. I am 73. The society doesn't think older women exist anymore, nobody thinks they feel anything. The people around old women never realize they are going through a turmoil, nobody cares about them. So what I am trying to portray is that it's not over until it is over. That an old woman is still alive in more ways than one, they still have sexual urges, people forget an old woman is human. An old woman enjoys her sexual life more when she no longer thinks about children's school fees, when the children have all gone to their husband's houses or in some cases the boys have married and it remains only the old woman and her husband. It never crosses our mind that these old parents can still get on whenever they like. Do you know that when an old man realizes he is free from child bearing, he becomes promiscuous and they are susceptible to all kinds of diseases. But the old woman is confined to a corner in the house, nobody thinks she is still actually active" she said

Ladies, would you wear this miraculous strapless G-string?

Posted: 30 May 2014 05:03 AM PDT

For those who like to go commando and end up embarrassing themselves when photographers zoom in into their area...there might be a solution. A US lingerie company has invented a strapless panty for those who don't like any hint of visible panty line under their clothes.

It's called Shibue Strapless Panty and its a self-adhesive strip of polyester fabric, with a cotton lining and silicone strips, that reaches from the top of your lady regions back to the tip of your tailbone, and it can be washed and worn repeatedly. (some ladies wearing it above)

According to the lingerie company "The panty has no sides to leave unwanted lines, indentations, or bulges. Even your most stubborn outfit will succumb to the flawless look offered by Shibue panty".

It's the first and only strapless panty in the market and it costs $15, which is about N2k. Would you ladies wear this? For those interested, you can find out more on their website - here

Members of the presidential fact-finding committee on the abducted Chibok school girls yesterday May 29th paid a visit to Chibok community. In a statement signed by the committee spokesman, Kingsley Osadolor, the committee met with some officials of the Borno state government, including the Borno State Commissioner for Education, Musa Kubo, Chairman of Chibok Local Government, Bana Lawan, five district heads of the surrounding communities, Chairman of the Parent Teachers Association of the Government Girls Secondary School Chibok, the principal, parents of the abducted girls and some of the girls who escaped were all present at the meeting.

Read part of the statement after the cut...where's the pic of them there though?
"Members of the committee visited the burnt-out structures of Government Secondary School, where the girls were abducted. The receiving party conducted members of the committee round the grounds of the school. The principal, vice principals, matrons of the hostels, as well as security guards and cooks were earlier debriefed by the committee in Maiduguri. The committee later held an interactive session with the Chibok communities on the school premises. At the meeting, Chairman of the Fact-finding Committee, Brig.-Gen. Ibrahim Sabo (retd.), who spoke with misty eyes, said the committee came, first, to sympathise with the parents and other community members over the havoc of the insurgents. He assured the people of President Goodluck Jonathan's concern about the fate of the abducted students, saying that the President was having sleepless nights. As we gather here today to see you wailing, by the grace of God, we will also gather here to dance and rejoice with you when the girls regain their freedom" it read
The spokesperson of the committee said the people were elated to see them and asked that their message of hope and belief that the girls would be found be delivered to the President. He said one of the fathers whose 2 daughters are still in Boko haram captivity, Rev. Enoch Mark asked that people should stop politicizing the missing Chibok girls and also stated that the abduction was not a religious thing as both religions were affected by the abduction.

'Marriage and kids have not slowed me down' - Dakore Akande

Posted: 30 May 2014 03:42 AM PDT

A few months after giving birth to her second child, actress Dakore Egbuson has returned to acting. She's one of the cast of the play, Hear Word, happening this May. Speaking about how easy it is for her to return to work despite having two young children at home, Dakore said she has a great support system who help her with the kids and that marriage and motherhood hasn't slowed her down
"My mom is with my kids at home. My nanny is also at home. By the Grace of God, I have a great support system. My husband is very understanding. They believe in what I am doing and encourage me to forge ahead, so I can give my all to my job. With balancing marriage, motherhood and work, I prioritize. The home first. And when my husband realizes I am deviating from my duty, I have to push myself back. Family first and once family has been taken care of, I can then fly.
Yes, marriage slows people down if you allow it. I believe a woman can have it all but not at the same time. You have to do things one at a time. Marriage will slow you down but you shouldn't let it stop you" Dakore pictured above with her mum and 2 daughters.
