Justice Oputa's burial: A sepulchre of hypocrites & sycophants - by Charly Boy Posted: 11 Jul 2014 08:55 AM PDT Article written by Charly Boy. Find it below...
From New York to London, Sweden to Helsinki, India to China, the trending topic was how "CharlyBoy snatched the microphone from Rochas Okorocha, the Governor of the state of Imo". Comments flying in different directions about what happened, the people involved, the controversies, the virgins...Kai. People ask why CharlyBoy is who he is. Why have two days of musical concerts after the death of his iconic father? Why argue or fight a sitting governor – doesn't he fear the veto venom of a man in power? Why walk around with 6 feet tall, provocatively clad girls wearing bizarre wigs in public, even in the presence of God, his wife and the dearly departed? For some reason, the last one elicits more provocation than most questions about my dear alter ego, CharlyBoy. Funny how envy, anger, timidity, mongopark mentality, hypocrisy and sycophancy have crippled the minds of many of my brothers and sisters. Oh my God! A lot of people in Nigeria live in fear and express it through anger, jealousy and spite – everything acceptable; than actually having the courage to face that fear and be the person they really were made to be. Me I no send. The CharlyBoy brand is me doing my job well – it's an image, a character invented to shake monotonous minds from their daily doldrums and pull them away from the comforts of the familiar, just for a while. All we have seen from pictures and videos from the weeklong event is more than enough to stir excitement and controversy – good and bad. Let me warn: those who are easily shocked should be prepared to be shocked even more and more often. I have been called everything from a cheap publicity monger to a cult leader. Those "Charlys Virgins" whose tests are yet to be confirmed have been identified by busybodies as my grand-daughters, spiritual wives, satan's handmaidens. Hummmmmm! Big deal. I have always known that insecure people put up boundaries but confident ones tear them down. Spiritual people have church picnics. The kind of ass-licking and shit-eating that goes on in Imo State is for lack of a better word, infuriating and obnoxious. Chai there is Godooooo. How did the Day of Tributes organised by the Imo State Government on behalf of the great Justice Oputa turn into a political campaign front and a seminar in ass-kissing? Why would anyone expect me to sit down and listen to politicians begging for goodwill from the governor while using the memory of my late father as an opportunity? What an insult on his name! God punish them die. The Imo State government has no shame anymore, the sycophants and megalomaniacs calling themselves leaders whose pictures litter every street corner and roundabout in Owerri begging for a second try at doing nothing who exchange naira for loyalty. Claps in the Church of God is not what would get you re-elected, my brother Rochas, bear that in mind. The interesting thing about all this is that the people, the ordinary men and women that Imo government is supposed to, yet refuses to serve, are the ones hailing the AreaFada, why? Could it be that the poverty-stricken Imolites are hailing The AreaFada because they feel battered by the mental rape committed against them by their leaders and yet, are afraid and feel powerless to defend themselves, to fight back? I am especially referring to the men and women of Oguta who are not just powerless, timid and foolishly arrogant but refuse to seek any control of their lives from the government. They just sit there and survive, suffering and smiling sheepishly. How can an entire town, the Blue Lake city, go without electricity for good six years and not do or say anything about it? Not six days or six months, but SIX YEARS!! After all the promises that Rochas gave of giving Oguta electricity for a few days for the Justice Oputa funeral, we did not see even a flash of electricity. These my home-town people, in my opinion, are polluted and disillusioned by their false arrogance from being well positioned in the 1930s and 40s when they traded with the white man, when they had UAC and John Holt and did good business better than the people in the hinterland. Those were the good old days, gone with the wind. Even as an oil producing community, what do they have to show for it? Politically, they are wanting, socially they are timid; many of them inundated by fear and poverty. They may have thought themselves to be something six decades ago, but are nowhere politically in this decade, not even one Imo State cabinet member is from Oguta. Tufiakwa! I am sure that this was one of the reasons some cousins of mine decided to go looking for Rochas Okorocha to beg for forgiveness on my behalf. Who send them? That's how they got to Imo State government house without seeing the governor. After the governor's aids sized them up, they concluded that they were only a hungry bunch of PIRATED Oputas. Shebi, they came back with their tail between their legs, shameless souls! Desperate mongrels looking for a piece of leftover rotten flesh wherever they could hound. Their plans failed, woefully. People who swallow pain killer for someone else' headache! Can you imagine, apologise for what? Truth be told, I come from a good pedigree, trained by a great man. I know the law and can't be caught dead breaking it. Upon all my ruggedness, there was no way, I, Charles Oputa, would have snatched a microphone from someone speaking no matter how much I hate what the person does. I get sense, am cultured and I went to one of the best universities in the world. I am not a riffraff, neither am I a gutter ass like some of these so called leaders. At the very least I'm honest about my identity (CharlyBoy), proud about my upbringing and courageous in the face of crippling doubt about my brand. I am however confident in the fact that I'm doing one thing many will never accomplish in their short time on earth: leaving a legacy, just like my father did. So park well. There is a method to my madness only understood by deep thinkers, not sycophants and bootlickers. The difference between my darkness and yours is that I can stare my own badness in the face and accept its existence while you are busy covering your mirror with white linen sheet. The difference between my sins and yours is that when I sin I know I'm sinning while you have actually fallen prey to your own fabricated illusions. If it makes people feel good calling me a devil worshipper and a thug, when the very great Justice Oputa trained me and finally doffed his hat for me and decided to preach the gospel of Charlyboyisim before he died, mere mortals can go hug a transformer. I have a name that is knock on wood. Anything you say, for your pocket. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them otherwise, I break them. I am free because I know that I, alone, am morally responsible for everything I do. It's discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and a few by deceit. Instead of wallowing in the bile of hypocrisy and envy, why don't we search ourselves and consider the deeper actions beneath all the pomp and pageantry twisted and manipulated by the media? Is that prickly sensation in your heart righteous indignation over the Oputa Funeral, or just mere heartburn? Check yourself – hypocrisy doesn't just wound, it kills permanently. |

16yr old rape goes viral on social media: "No human being deserves this" Posted: 11 Jul 2014 07:24 AM PDT This is so wrong and heartbreaking to see. A 16 year old Texas girl named Jada (pictured left) has spoken out for the first time after photos of her unconscious naked body went viral online after she was drugged and raped at a party with her fellow high-schoolers. Some sick people mimicked Jada's pose by taking photos copying the position of her limp body splayed out on the floor and posting them to Twitter and Vine using the hashtag '#jadapose'. (pictured right). How sick is this? The victim decided to talk about the attack in an interview with KHOU on Tuesday night; "I'm just angry," Jada said. According to Jada, she was invited to a party at a fellow high schooler's house. The boy who was hosting the party gave her a drink that she believes was spiked with a drug that made her lose consciousness. She passed out and doesn't remember what happened next. Continue... But then she started seeing evidence of her sexual assault circulated online, and some of her peers started texting her to ask her if she was okay. Then, #jadapose started turning her rape into a joke. When the Houston Press reached out to one of the individuals who shared a popular #jadapose photo, he said that he didn't personally know Jada and was simply "bored at 1 a.m. and decided to wake up my (Twitter timeline)." Jada decided to share her name and her story with the press because she has nothing to hide anymore "Everybody has already seen my face and my body," she said, "but that's not what I am and who I am." Nonetheless, the social media firestorm has taken a toll on her. She says she now wants to be homeschooled. "No one's daughter deserved this," her mother, who asked not to be identified by name, told KHOU 11 News. "No human being deserved this."The Houston police is currently investigating Jada's allegations, and no arrests have yet been made. The alleged perpetrator has denied that a sexual assault occurred, referring to Jada as a "hoe" who "snitched." |

When I came out of prisons, a friend of mine called Benjamin invited me again for another job. I was asked to escort a truck of engine oil from Apapa to Mushin, because they still regarded me as a policeman. They paid me N5,000 when they offloaded." he said Friday Lucky who says he is a clearing and forwarding agent working at a shipping company in Apapa Lagos said he met George three months ago at Iyana-Oba and had never engaged in armed robbery. Dear LIB readers: Should I accept my boyfriend's promise ring? Posted: 11 Jul 2014 04:40 AM PDT From a female LIB reader My boyfriend and I have been dating for seven years, since we were in the university. We are both 27 and although I am ready to settle down he says it's not something he is considering at the moment. But he promised he would marry me when he was ready and offered me a promise ring just last month. I refused to accept it as I see a promise ring as kindergarten. I would have preferred an engagement ring but he says he's not ready to be engaged either. Should I accept the ring and wait till he's ready to get married? What's even the symbol of a promise ring? |

Amazing!! Check out photos from Barbie & Ken's Nigerian wedding Posted: 11 Jul 2014 01:12 AM PDT You've probably never seen anything like this before. Well, I haven't! Its so lovely. RCCG student that killed his father: LIB reader shares her own story Posted: 11 Jul 2014 12:17 AM PDT From a female LIB reader...please read! In light of the story you posted on your blog about the RCCG student that killed his father, and the response to it by comedian: Wale Gates, I will like to share a little bit of my story to educate my fellow LIBers on the dangers of abusing their power and authority over their children, I believe there are a lot of people with stories similar to mine that will have the courage to speak out after they read my story, and they will also realize that they are not alone in their experience. While the action of the RCCG student was despicable and evil, the truth of what led to it may never be known, but I believe there is an opportunity for a lot of people to learn from that unfortunate story about how parents can sometimes push their children to the extreme limits. While my experience did not end up a tragedy as that of this unfortunate young man, I believe it might have had the same underlying tone and pattern.I am a 40 year old successful woman who is based in south Africa, I'm happily married to a wonderful man and just had a bouncing baby girl, I have a good life and i love my life, but the only thorn in my life is my relationship with my mother. I grew up having a very toxic relationship with my mum, a relationship that soured after her divorce from my dad while i was a child, after the divorce my mother took all the children with her and for some reason singled me out by physically and emotionally abusing me repeatedly, she believed i have a lot in common with my dad whom she hated with a passion.I grew up in a home where my mother will call me various malicious names, and repeatedly tell me i will not amount to anything in life, she once told me she wishes she had aborted me when she was pregnant with me, i remember being chased out of the house as a teenager, and left to sleep outside alone overnight for not properly doing house chores. This toxic relationship endured into my adulthood, I grew up never having the opportunity to have all the beautiful things a relationship with one's mother can bring, every time something great was happening in my life my mother was always there around the corner to "pour sand in it", she went as far as cancelling my wedding a few times because I would not invite one of her friends to it, she has managed to destroy every meaningful relationship I have with all my siblings and extended family members by telling lies about me and going on a campaign of ensuring i am cut off from everyone, all attempts over the years by family members to show her that she was being malicious to me went on deaf ears, she spent most of the discussions denying every thing i accused her of doing to me and convincing everyone that i am a liar. I have personally approached her on several occasions to see if i could get her to change but that also failed. Not to long ago she claimed that she came to visit my family and i since i was pregnant with my daughter and close to delivery, while she was around she almost destroyed my marriage by sowing seeds of discord between my husband and i, she went as far as gossiping about me with everyone that cared to listen; this included my friends and neighbours , it became so stressful for me that i couldn't take it anymore, she did not even consider that i was heavily pregnant. One faithful day i told her she had to leave, out of my house and my life before she manages to destroy the best things in my life, that until she repents and realizes the errors in her ways i was not willing to relate with her again, while it was disheartening for me to take that action it was the most liberating thing i have ever done. Rather than repent, my mother have again gone on a campaign of letting her minions know that I "chased" her out of my home and that i'm so ungrateful after all she had done for me. Sometimes when you push a child to the wall you never know what they might do,while i could never dream of killing my mum, the anger and rage she evoked in me could have easily led me to a dark place if not for the grace of God. The general idea of a mother is someone who is nurturing and ever loving, my experience have been far from that, there are things my mother did that i cannot even add to this writeup. A lot of nigerian parents do not know anything about parenting a child, their mentality is that you should raise a child the way your parents raised you, this approach involves flogging the child and abusing him/her emotionally as one wishes, there is nothing systematic to it. While some of these children grow up and forgive their parents, even going as far as replicating their upbringing on their own kids, some realize that things could have been different and are willing to stop the cycle. |
