| Defence HQ says the technician involved in Mi-15 crash has been found...alive Posted: 23 Jul 2014 12:25 PM PDT   The Nigerian Defence headquarters this evening released a statement on its website stating that the technician they earlier reported dead and his body missing after the Air Force helicopter crash on July 21st in Bama, Borno has resurfaced alive at the Military headquarters in Maiduguri. Statement below. The Engineer crew member of the crashed Nigerian Air Force Mi-35 Helicopter earlier declared missing has been found alive. The crew member who was declared missing when his body could not be located in the vicinity of the crash resurfaced at the military Headquarters in Maiduguri today, having trekked through the bushes after the crash. It is thus confirmed that Flight Lieutenant NM Halilu, Co-Pilot and Warrant Officer Augustine Nwanonenyi, the aircraft technician survived the crash while Flight Lieutenant Onyeka Nwakile was the only one lost in the crash. The family of the officer has been duly informed while the two survivors are in stable condition but receiving medical attention. Meanwhile, search and rescue operation on the incident has been concluded, while investigation into the crash continues. | ||

I've lived here since 1978 and I go to the beaches, and I've never seen anything like this. They laid on the beach and passed out for hours. We thought they were dead. | 2nd blast in Kaduna aimed at Gen. Buhari + pics from today's blast Posted: 23 Jul 2014 09:52 AM PDT   According to a report by BBC Africa, about 90 minutes after the first bomb went off along Alkali Rd, a second explosion ripped through the crowded Kawo area, targeting the motorcade of Gen Buhari. Gunmen rammed a vehicle into his convoy, firing shots at it. The report says two of Gen. Buhari's bodyguards were slightly wounded in the attack, he however escaped unhurt. | Madonna University student arrested for allegedly killing own father Posted: 23 Jul 2014 09:31 AM PDT  While parading Chijioke before newsmen, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Geoffrey Ogbonna said Chijioke is the chief suspect in his father's death because he was the only one around when the deceased was brutally murdered on June 30th at his home in Umuoriehi, Isingwu in Umuahia North LGA of Abia state. Continue... Police preliminary reports shows that there was no evidence of someone else gaining access into the home when the octogenarian was murdered. During his interrogation, Chijioke claimed he was having his bath when his father was murdered."After taking my bath as I was going towards my room I saw people screaming in my father's room, so I decided to go inside to know what was happening there. When I went there I saw my brother and my cousin in my father's room and I saw my dad on top of his bed. I was shocked to see blood on his head. I was so scared I had to go down stairs to call one of my cousins. When I came back with him we were asking them what happened none of them told us anything. He told us to go down stairs the next thing was for me to see police coming to arrest me, took me to the police station, saying I am a murderer, that's all." he said.He denied ever threatening his life, maintaining they had a good relationship. | Bomb blast in Kaduna this afternoon leaves at least 25 people dead Posted: 23 Jul 2014 06:57 AM PDT  According to eyewitnesses, the bomb went off as a prominent Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, drove past the road. They believe the bomb was target at his convoy but according to witnesses, the cleric escaped unhurt while passersby were killed. At least 25 bodies have so far been receovered Other witnesses said the bomb was targeted at thousands of Muslims who gathered at the Murtala Square for Ramadan Tafsir under the leadership of Sheikh Bauchi. (pictured above) The cleric is said to be an outspoken critic of Boko Haram and was on his way to the Murtala Square when the bomb went off. | Counter terrorism: NPF signs on training with US Department of state Posted: 23 Jul 2014 05:56 AM PDT  As part of comprehensive measures geared towards tackling emerging crimes, strengthening the criminal justice system and improving the capacity of officers in the area of technologies, new policing concepts and practices and effectively addressing the issues of insurgency confronting the nation especially in the North-Eastern part of the country, the Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday, July 23, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with US Department of States Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement. Continue...  The MoU was executed by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP MD Abubakar, CFR, NPM, mni, psc and the US Ambassador to Nigeria, James F. Entwistle on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force and the US Government respectively. In his remarks, the Ambassador noted that the Police Force will benefit from the International Police Education and Training Programme run by the US authorities with funding from the US Department. He also noted that the training pact will help to improve and modernize police training in Nigeria and bring about a well trained Nigeria Police dedicated to the highest standards of ethical conduct, proficiency in law enforcement, support and build on efforts of Nigeria Police to implement a sustainable development. In a related development, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP MD Abubakar, CFR, NPM, mni, psc also received officials of the Department for International Development (DFID) at Abuja who did a formal presentation of strategic guidelines on counter-terrorism and eight other core areas of policing to the Nigeria Police Force which include counter-terrorism, integrated intelligence, community-policing, fleet management, human resource management, diversity, use of force, PR and media.  Speaking at the occasion, the IGP stated that the opportunity provided by the international Police education and training programme must be harnessed to increase the capabilities of the Nigeria Police particularly now that the country is battling the menace of terrorism and equally preparing for general elections in 2015. The body of the technician who is the third member of the crew is yet to be located. He is therefore declared Missing in Action until found. Rescue team continues the search in the vicinity of the scene of the accident".One pilot was recused alive, while the body of the second pilot has been recovered. | ||

| Enugu Deputy Gov. to be served impeachment notice for rearing chickens in Govt house Posted: 23 Jul 2014 04:48 AM PDT   According to the lawmakers, the state deputy governor's action contravenes their Feb 12 2013 resolution which 'prohibited the maintenance and operation of a commercial livestock and poultry farms within residential neighborhoods in Enugu Metropolis in promotion of public health standards'. They say an earlier directive by the state Governor, Chime Sullivan, to have the said poultry relocated by relevant ministry officials was disobeyed by the deputy governor who afterwards resorted to inviting pressmen to castigate the Governor. The impeachment notice reads in part; "Consequent upon the intimidation of the relevant officials of the government by the Deputy Governor in respect of the matter aforesaid, the governor of Enugu State (herein after referred to as " the Governor via letters with reference numbers : GHE/CAO/31/239 and GHE/CAO/31/240 dated 24/12/2013 and 27/12/2013 respectively, directed the Deputy Governor to relocate the commercial poultry farm out of the premises of his official residential quarters , which is also within the general premises of the Government House Enugu and adjacent to the Governor's office. "The Deputy Governor further defied the directive herein and in a most discourteous manner and in utter disregard of the office of the governor, responded via a letter dated 8/1/2014, insisting that he would not relocate his commercial poultry farm from the premises of his official residential quarters. "When the government through the appropriate Ministries and departments relocated the birds and cleared the premises of the noxious stench emanating therefrom, the Deputy Governor wrongfully deployed the resources and powers of his office as deputy governor to invite the press and openly castigated the government and her officials, thereby impugning and denigrating the authority and office of the governor and embarrassing the government." it read.The Deputy Governor is also being accused of constantly disrespecting the state Governor which obstructs the peaceful administration of the state. | ||

They were captured on film for two minutes by someone recording them through a window. (Above are screenshots from the video) The shocking footage, which was shared on Youtube (its since been removed), shows the couple, suspected to be in their 30s, unfazed as cars passed them. And when they finished, the man kneels on the ground as the woman slowly gets to her feet and re-arranges her mini-skirt before he passes her a tissue. They couldn't get a room? After he was arrested, Victor who resides in the Badagry area of Lagos, said years of unemployment pushed him into the illegal business of drug trafficking. He said he was promised $3,500 if he was able to smuggle the substance to Malaysia successfully, where he would have been executed if caught
Reacting to Victor's arrest, Chairman of the NDLEA Ahmadu Giade expressed sadness over his arrest, stating that an educated person like Victor should have known the consequences of the action he was about to take
The NDLEA says further investigations on the case will be carried out. | ||

According to the National Chairman of Chibok community, Pogu Bitrus, they died of heart attack and frustration. "One father of two of the girls kidnapped, just went into a kind of coma and kept repeating the names of his daughters until his life left him" Pogu said. Please #bringbackourgirls |
