| LG Rolls Out Premium Smart Aplliances That 'Chat' Posted: 24 Jul 2014 12:35 PM PDT  L  Introducing a whole new level of convenience, the company's premium smart appliance lineup includes a camera-equipped refrigerator, a washing machine that allows users to start and download washing cycles remotely via HomeChat and a Lightwave oven that supports NFC and WiFi for convenient control from any location. LG HomeChat incorporates the popular LINE application to allow users to receive recommendations and control settings when away from home. With an intuitive interface, HomeChat makes communicating with LG's smart refrigerator, washing machine or oven much like chatting with a close friend. For extra convenience, the Quick Button feature enables fast and easy access to each appliance's most commonly used functions. HomeChat also gives users the choice of three different modes: Vacation, Away and Return-home. LG's new service even brings an element of fun to appliances, offering a selection of over 40 unique LINE stickers to add an enjoyable, personal component to conversations. "Today's intelligent home appliances offer a variety of useful functions but many consumers still find setting them up an extremely complicated process." said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. LG's most advanced smart refrigerator incorporates several breakthrough innovations, such as the Smart View feature. Using the industry's first built-in internal refrigerator camera positioned at the top of the main compartment, users can monitor exactly what's inside their refrigerator, on their smartphones or tablets. The wide angle camera can show content not only in the upper shelves, but also food items on the bottom-most shelf. The built-in camera detects the opening and closing of the refrigerator, capturing images of the food items stored inside when last opened. Using HomeChat, users can immediately see exactly what they need to buy when they are at the grocery store or supermarket. Another notable feature is the Smart Manager feature which transforms the refrigerator into a complete food management system. | Liberian man in Lagos being tested for Ebola Posted: 24 Jul 2014 09:14 AM PDT  The Lagos State Ministry of Health today July 24th said a Liberian man in his 40s is being tested for the deadly Ebola virus in Lagos. On July 14th, the Lagos state government issued an alert to residents of the state over the deadly virus currently sweeping through some west African countries, including Liberia. Further details on the outcome of the test is still being expected. This would be the first recorded case of one of the world's deadliest diseases in Nigeria. | ||||||||

| Etisalat Excites Subscribers with Vringo Services Posted: 24 Jul 2014 08:10 AM PDT  Head, Digital Media, Etisalat Nigeria, Adia Sowho said the new product is to enable etisalat customers get as much pleasure as possible from their telephony experience. "We're committed to listening and responding to our customers to ensure that they are at the heart of everything we do. Our customers rely on us to develop innovative products that deliver value to them and ensure that they can derive as much pleasure as possible from our network." She said. Shedding more light on the product, Sowho said that the Vringo service also enables customers to share video ringtones with friends across multiple platforms. The service is compatible with Android, Java and Symbian devices and is available on WEB, WAP and also available as a mobile application. Customers can opt in via SMS by sending "SUB" to 669 on an etisalat line. To de-activate, all a customer needs to do is text "STOP" to 669. The service is free for the first 30 days, after which customers will be charged a subscription fee of N 100.00 monthly." | Maigari impeached as NFF president over 'financial misappropriation' Posted: 24 Jul 2014 07:48 AM PDT  Members of the board of the Nigeria Football Federation NFF have impeached its president, Aminu Maigari, over allegations of financial misappropriation. The members today passed a vote of no confidence on Maigari during an executive meeting to review Nigeria's performance at the just concluded FIFA World Cup. The meeting held at the NFF Glass House Headquarters in Abuja. Announcing the decision of the board members, Adamu Muazu who represents the North-West on the executive board, said Maigari was removed for Financial misappropriation & Mal-administration and that a more detailed statement on the allegations leveled against Mr. Maigari will soon be made public. He said a new election for the office of the President of the NFF has been slated for August 26th. Continue... The First Vice President, Mike Umeh is to act as the President of the NFF until election holds in August. Mr Maigari was earlier sacked from office on July 4th by a court order but was reinstated on July 17th after FIFA suspended Nigeria for government interference ib football matters which is against its policy. | ||||||||

Algerian plane with 116 on board disappears from radar Posted: 24 Jul 2014 09:05 AM PDT  Swift Air, the operators of the aircraft, say they lost contact with the flight 50 minutes after it took off this morning from Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. It was supposed to have arrived at Algiers' Houari Boumediene Airport about four hours later but the plane has just disappeared. The plane, an MD-83, has 110 passengers on-board with 2 pilots and four crew members. Air Algerie is Algeria's national airline. Update: The plane crashed in Niger...continue for details... It's been confirmed that the plane crashed near the capital of Niger, Niamey. Flight AH5017 was reported to be flying through an area affected by violent storms. | ||||||||

The challenge basically was when I was sent to Amsterdam for my Type Rating, it was really the toughest period I cant lie to you because it was not an easy task. I actually thought I was going to fail because I was the weakest in the class at the beginning but I came top of the class at the end. I kept telling my self "I can do it." God really saw me through. | 30 year old man arrested for raping 2 year old girl in Ebonyi state Posted: 24 Jul 2014 01:01 AM PDT  The suspect was alleged to have committed the shameful act when the victim returned from school and was sleeping at the corridor of the house when the suspect, who also lives in the same compound allegedly pounced on her and committed the crime. The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr. Chris Anyanwu an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), who confirmed the incident said the suspect was arrested on July 14, 2014 at the scene of the crime when the members of the family alerted the police. Continue...He said that the girl had been taken to hospital for medical examination and treatment while the suspect would be charged to court for prosecution, lamenting high rate of rape and defilement in the state. According to Anyanwu, "On Monday 14th July, 2014, one Ama Inya-Okoro, 30-year old man from Ubeyi development centre in Unwana, in Afikpo Council area, was arrested for defiling little girl, Favour. The girl has been taken to hospital for treatment by his father Mr. Ude, Ebeke. The suspect confessed to the crime and will be charged to court for prosecution. "This is another disturbing trend, the issue of rape, defilement and sex related offences. I don't know why we have regular occurrence in the state. The people should not leave their children especially, female ones without close watch. Just like in this case, the girl was sleeping but nobody was there with her when the suspect took the advantage and had access to the girl. So, parents should be careful and monitor their girls and ensure that they don't send them on errand alone to avoid such cases of rape. I urge the people to always ensure that they raise alarm whenever they see such act and report it to the nearest police station" he said.In an interview with Crime Watch, Ama Inya-Okoro admitted to have committed the crime but blamed it on evil urge for sex. According to him, "What happened was that I went to look for job as laborer on the fateful day but could not get any job and I returned home. As I was washing my cloth I saw the girl laying down sleeping wearing only pant, I rushed and carried her and have sex with her. It was 'conji' that caused it and I don't have money to go for mature girls."The father of the girl Mr. Ude Ebeke that he was at the church when the incident happened. A neighour called to inform me home and I rushed home to found my two years old girl was defiled by a nieghour, Ama Okoro. "On Monday July14, 2014, I was in the church when a woman came and called me and told me to go home, I quickly rushed to my house, I didn't see anybody, I ran to our village square and saw group of people there gathered. It was there I saw my daughter and one of the leaders of age grade who first arrested the man and brought him to the village square. "It was there that I was told that one Ama Inya Okoro raped and defiled by two year-old girl. So, I wanted to call police but they told me that they had already contacted police and as I was there police came and took all of us including the suspect to the police station where I made a statement. The mother traveled that day and the girl went to school before I left home. My sister will tell more on what happened because I was in the church," he said.The person who was with the girl when the incident happened, Miss Stella Egwu said that she was cooking in the kitchen while the victim was sleeping at the corridor when a woman alerted her. "I was in my place cooking when the little girl came back from school and after some time she went and slept at the corridor. As I was cooking in the kitchen I heard voice calling us to come and see the man that was raping the little girl, I came out and saw the man standing with the girl, sperm in her private. As we were talking people gathered and took the suspect to the village square where they called police" she explained. |
