Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother claims she tried to 'abort' the footballer

Posted: 18 Jul 2014 01:13 PM PDT

Inside her recently released autobiography Mãe Coragem (which translates to 'Mother Courage') , mother of Critiano Ronaldo, Dolores Aveiro, claimed that she attempted to abort him when she was pregnant by 'drinking warm beer' and 'running until she dropped'

Although she did not give any reason for wanting to abort her unborn child, Dolores said she had approached her doctor to carry out the abortion but he didn't agree with it and refused to do it. She then resorted to doing it herself by drinking warm beer and running with the hope that she would lose the pregnancy.
"I wanted to abort but the doctor didn't support my decision," she wrote in her autobiography.
Speaking at the launch of the autobiography in Lisbon yesterday, Dolores said that Ronaldo already knew about his past and even joked about it. ""He told me when he found out, 'Look mum, you wanted to abort me and now I'm the one who's pulling the purse-strings in the house,'" she said..

RCCG butchered in Borno, whereabout of wife & children unknown

Posted: 18 Jul 2014 08:13 AM PDT

A pastor with the Redeem Christian Church of God in Borno state, Pastor Taiwo Dokun was shot dead and butchered by Boko Haram men during the Monday July 14th attack on Dille village in Askira-Uba LGA of Borno state. The late pastor's wife and three children are feared to have been taken by the sect men who reportedly abducted some people on the day of the attack.

A resident of the village, Jacob Mamza, gave an account of how the pastor was killed to Vanguard;
"The pastor was in his house at about 6am when the insurgents attacked the village. His house was surrounded by the hoodlums and while attempting to run he was shot. Pastor Taiwo was running to a neighbour's house and it was in the course of his fleeing that he was shot in the head and the chest and the insurgent equally came to butcher him to make sure that he was dead." he said. Continue...
Church members say the late pastor's wife and children's whereabout is unknown as they have not been seen since the attack on Monday. They have ruled out death as their bodies are not among those they gathered after the attack and suggested they may have been taken away by the sect men who abducted some people on the day of the attack.

Meet the family that missed Flight17 by minutes+chilling audio from rebels after they shot down plane

Posted: 18 Jul 2014 06:45 AM PDT

Barry and Izzy Sim (pictured above) were planning to travel to Kuala Lumpur with their young baby on Flight MH17 but were told by staff at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport that the plane was too full. The family was then given seats on a later KLM flight, just hours before the plane was shot down.

"You get this sick feeling in the pit of your stomach... We started getting butterflies. Your heartbeat starts going.' Barry Sim said of his reaction after he heard the plane he desperately wanted to board was shot down.

His wife said; 'There must have been someone watching over us and saying "you must not get on that flight".' The couple later cancelled their flight with KLM after the women refused to fly.

Meanwhile U.S intelligence has confirmed that the plane was shot down by pro-Russian separatists who mistook the jetliner for a Ukraine military plane. And it is a Russian-made weapon.

Continue to read a transcript of conversations between Russian military intelligence and Ukrainian separatists that were intercepted by Ukraine's Secret Service moments after Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 was shot down...

A view of what is believed to be a BUK surface-to-air missile battery being driven along a path on July 17in Torez, Ukraine just two hours before the plane was shot down...

The first exchange is between one Igor Bezler (pictured above), identified as Russian intelligence, and Vasili Geranin, a colonel in the Russian Federation separatist force.

Bezler: We have just shot down a plane. Group Minera. It fell down beyond Yenakievo (Donetsk Oblast).
Vasili Geranin: Pilots. Where are the pilots?

Bezler: Gone to search for and photograph the plane. It's smoking.
Geranin: How many minutes ago?
Bezler: About 30 minutes ago.

This is followed by a subsequent conversation between two separatist rebels identified by Ukrainian intelligence as "Grek" and "Major", believed to be after an inspection of the crash site.

"Major": These are Chernukhin folks who shot down the plane. From the Chernukhin check point. Those Cossacks who are based in Chernukhino.

"Grek": Yes, Major.

"Major": The plane fell apart in the air. In the area of Petropavlovskaya mine. The first "200" (code for dead bodies). We have found the first "200". A Civilian.
G: How are things going there?
M: Well, we are 100% percent sure that it was a civilian plane.
G: Are there a lot of people?
M: Fuck! The debris was falling straight into the yards.
G: What plane is that?
M: I haven't figured out yet. I haven't got close to the main wreckage. Now I'm nearby the place where first bodies started falling. Here are remnants of internal brackets, chairs, bodies.
G: Are there any weapons?
M: Nothing at all. Civilian belongings, medical scraps, towels, toilet paper.
G: Are there any documents?
M: Yes. One belonging to a student from Indonesia. From Thompson university.

A third conversation is of an unidentified rebel and Cossack commander Nikolay Kozitsin.

Rebel: Regarding the plane shot down in the area of Snizhne-Torez. It's a civilian one. Fell down near Grabove. There are lots of corpses of women and children. The Cossacks are out there looking at all this. They say on TV it's AN-26 transport plane, but they say it's written Malaysia Airlines on the plane. What was it doing on Ukraine's territory?

Kozitsin: That means they were carrying spies. They shouldn't be f*cking flying here. There is a war going on.

God help us!

"Major": In short, it was 100 per cent a passenger (civilian) aircraft.
"Greek": Are many people there?
"Major": Holy sh__t! The debris fell right into the yards (of homes).
"Greek": What kind of aircraft?
"Major": I haven't ascertained this. I haven't been to the main sight. I am only surveying the scene where the first bodies fell. There are the remains of internal brackets, seats and bodies.
"Greek": Is there anything left of the weapon?
"Major": Absolutely nothing. Civilian items, medical items, towels, toilet paper.
"Greek": Are there documents?
"Major": Yes, of one Indonesian student. From a university in Thompson.

MH17 was believed to have been shot down over eastern Ukraine by pro-Russian militants yesterday, killing all 298 people aboard, a Ukrainian interior ministry official said.
MAS said air traffic controllers lost contact with MH17 as it flew over eastern Ukraine towards the Russian border, bound for Asia with 283 passengers and 15 crew aboard.
MAS earlier maintained that the plane's flight path over the restive area had been green-lighted by International Civil Aviation Organisation and International Air Transportation Association.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak earlier called the incident as a "tragic day in a tragic year for Malaysians", in reference to the loss of another MAS plane, the still-missing MH370, that disappeared on March 8 with 239 on board.

Several feared killed as Boko Haram attacks Damboa in Borno state

Posted: 18 Jul 2014 07:29 AM PDT

Suspected members of Boko Haram this morning around 5am launched an attack on Damboa village in Borno, killing several people and destroying properties, Premium Times reports. Today's attack comes barely two weeks after an attack on security formation was launched in the village.

An official of the state's vigilante group, Abbas Gava, said he spoke with his men in Damboa village who confirmed the attack. He said soldiers have deserted the village after attempts to protect it was met with serious resistance from Boko Haram, who consistently engaged them in gun battle. He said the sect men have taken over the high way leading to the village and have on two occasions engaged the soldiers in a fierce gun battle that have forced the soldiers back to Maiduguri, the state capital.
"Since the attack, Damboa has no police or soldiers. It is only the vigilantes that are there and we know their limitations. Casualty could be very high because my contacts in Damboa said they are still picking and piling the corpses. But many houses, nearly half of what remains of the several attacked town has been burnt" Mr Gava said.
A senior security official confirmed the attack but said the casualty rate is yet unknown.

Photos: How I managed to stand against 'Jungle justice' - LIB reader writes

Posted: 18 Jul 2014 05:25 AM PDT

A LIB reader shares his story...
This happened around Idimu-Egbeda, Lagos. I was on my way back home this morning when I saw a pack of okada men dragging some people out of a car in front of me, two men and a woman. I was in my car watching, thinking they must have actually bashed an okada man, as it was the norm in Lagos state, where an offense against a bike man is an offense against all the bike men in like 5 communities, they would pack you down and start harassing you.
So I thought at first, until they started beating them with woods and sticks, kicking them from all directions, while some where destroying their car. I had to come down at this point after carefully packing my car at a safe spot. I managed to part the crowd, asking what happened, The shout of 'they are kidnappers' rented the air, so I managed to go into the crowd which was swelling by the minute to take pix of them. Continue...

After this, I asked an okada man what happened and how he knew they were kidnappers, he managed to say that he just saw his fellow okada men running after them, shouting "gbomo-gbomo" (Kidnappers) and he joined the crowd.
Asking around, no one seemed to know the true story, by now the crowd had gotten to close to 800 people, men, women, boys, girls, even school children, all struggling to get a glimpse, everyone in small clusters, gossiping and discussing, while some were seriously doing the beating.
At this point, sensing their anger to burn them soon, I sped with my car to the Police station on a road, as rough as "climbing Olumo rock in Abeokuta, Ogun State". I got to the station and made a quick report. (Must acknowledge the quick response of the force at this point). They jump and filled two hilux pick-ups, and followed me back to the scene.
On sighting the crowd, their gun shot rented the air. I had parked at a safe distance, because I didn't want to experience stray bullet. They were able to disperse the crowd in time to rescue the victims, Two men and a woman. At my safe distance, I could still hear people talking about how the police would end up freeing them, and that, they should have been burnt to serve as lessons for others with bad intentions.
By now, different stories of what they did had emerged and none was similar to the other. Some were like....they snatched a woman whom was coming out of the bank with N200,000, drove her a mile, then threw her out of the moving vehicle, Others were like....they kidnapped 3 children, then the mother raised an alarm, and a hot pursuit ensued. The third didn't even add up at all.....can't even bother myself tying that.
The good thing is I let the Nigerian Police force do their work

Lagos Convo presents 'My Dear Chikodi"

Posted: 18 Jul 2014 04:51 AM PDT

Dear Chikodi,
I hope this letter meets you well. Hello my dear, permit me to go straight to the original aim for writing you. This is because I am a very serious man; I don't like beating about the bush. Do you remember the gentleman that sat by your side in church last Sunday? I sat at your left side. I am that fair gentleman that was smiling at you; I remember our eyes met several times before I waved at you.
Nne true to God, after that Sunday in church, I was convinced I have found my missing rib.  Where have you been have all these years? I have searched for this rib everywhere. I have searched for it in Alaba market, Balogun market, Otigba market and all the markets our people come to buy and sell in Lagos. Continue...

Nne that your voice! Chei! Who did you pick that voice from, your mother or father? Nne to God who made me, that voice is capable of raising the dead and making the cripple to run.

Nne, Let me now go straight to my point; like I said earlier on, I hate beating about the bush. Hello my dear, can I see you after church on Sunday? I need to convey how I feel about you eyeball to eyeball. I have never felt this way since I was born. The feeling I had on Sunday was very special. It was one in town. Immediately I set my eyes, I realized why Ijeoma, Evelyn and Ndidi did not agree for me. They paved the way for you to come in and occupy.

Nne on Sunday, I will be waiting for you in a black Land Rover under the Gmelina tree, not the Gmelina tree towards the gate o. I will be under that one that has wound on it, the one that looks like somebody tried to cut it down.

Chi, don't forget, it is immediately after church this Sunday.

See you on Sunday.
Yours,
GodsPower Akachukwu

He said three children under the age of two, who were being prepared for sale, were rescued while four 'social workers' and four men were arrested in the raid. See more photos...

One of the pregnant women was reportedly very ill and in a critical condition. She was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

Seaking with newsmen, one of the suspects, Chibuike said he met Jonathan for the first time on that day as he  pleaded with him to help him bury the little child. Jonathan on the other hand said a man accosted him to help him bury the child.
The NSCDC boss said both suspects will be handed to the police for further investigations.
