| Thrills, battle at Maltina Dance-All 8 Port-Harcourt Auditions Posted: 25 Jul 2014 12:31 PM PDT  There were thrills, battle as hundreds of contestants took to the dance floor to compete for slots at the Maltina Dance All (MDA) season eight regional audition held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The atmosphere at the Atrium Event Centre, venue of the two-day auditions was electrifying as the dancers - both young and old - trooped in to showcase their skills. Continue...  At the end of a very difficult selection process which was held on the second day, eight dancers were selected they include, Vincent Osanebi 21, Ebi Williams 22, Sunny Onyeka 23, Richard Emmauel 18, Wilfred Utere 20, Ukeme Akpan 23, Uzodinma Calistus 19 and Kelsi Dide 18. The next step is for the eight contestants to participate with their families at their homes and if they are selected and pass the medical tests they will finally qualify to enter the popular MDA Academy. He said, "The excitement and the happiness expressed by everybody here is a reflection of what the Maltina brand is about and is in sync with this year's MDA theme, Rhythm of Happiness'. The MDA is also a strong platform that brings families together. It's all about bonding, sharing and caring. The energy, talent and excitement displayed by the dancers in Port-Harcourt were impressive. What we have witnessed today shows that Port-Harcourt people love to dance and they are proud about it. They have made a huge statement about that today."  The judges, Muyiwa Osinaike, Bimbo Obafunwa and Ukalina Opuwari, described the auditions as the best ever. Muyiwa Osinaike said "It has been a very interesting and entertaining 2-day audition here in Port-Harcourt. I've been here for about four times but this has been the best ever. There was so much energy and talent that the selection process was more difficult than usual. But at the end of the day we were able to pick the best eight dancers. Other participants at the electrifying audition won various exciting gifts ranging from generator, Television and Home Theatre. | Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg now richer than Google owners Posted: 25 Jul 2014 12:00 PM PDT   The Facebook Inc. chairman added $1.6 billion to his fortune yesterday after the world's largest social network closed at a record. The surge elevated the 30-year-old's net worth to $33.3 billion, moving him past Brin, 40, and Page, 41, as well as Amazon.com Inc. Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bezos, 50, on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Zuckerberg is No. 16 on the ranking. The Google founders are 17th and 18th. Bezos occupies the 20th spot."He's just getting started," David Kirkpatrick, author of "The Facebook Effect," said in a telephone interview. "He's going to become the richest person on the planet." The Menlo Park, California-based company posted second-quarter sales that soared 61 percent to $2.91 billion yesterday, exceeding analysts' average estimate of $2.81 billion. The company's revenue gain follows Google's results last week, when the Web-search company posted sales that topped analysts' estimates, largely based on the strength of online ads. Facebook has jumped 183 percent in the past 12 months, the biggest rally in the Standard & Poor's 500 Index, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The company trades at 82-times reported earnings, compared to a multiple of 18.2 for the S&P 500. Google is up 7.5 percent for the year. Mobile promotions accounted for 62 percent of ad sales, up from 59 percent in the prior period. Net income more than doubled to $791 million, with profit excluding some items at 42 cents a share, above the projection of 32 cents. In total, Facebook accounted for 5.8 percent of worldwide digital ad revenue in 2013, up from 4.1 percent in 2012, according to EMarketer Inc. The company's performance also propelled the fortunes of other Facebook shareholders, including Dustin Moskovitz, the 30-year-old who started the social network with Zuckerberg at Harvard University a decade ago, and Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook's 44-year-old chief operating officer who became one of the world's youngest female billionaires in January. Sandberg owns about 9.9 million shares valued at $740 million and has collected more than $550 million in share sales. "The company's success is growing by the minute," Kirkpatrick said. "There's no sign it's going to slow anytime soon." |

| Pics: Troops hold suspected Kaduna bomber disguised as a woman Posted: 25 Jul 2014 09:00 AM PDT     Troops are holding a man suspected to be connected with the explosion targeted at General Buhari on Wednesday. The young man who was apprehended by military patrol team that swooped on the area immediately after the explosion, had disguised as a woman clad in female garb to exude femininity with a brazier affixed to his chest. The suspect was arrested while trying to fizzle into a crowd of onlookers when the patrol team arrived the scene. Youths in the area attempted to mob him while he was being arrested but were restrained by troops who quickly whisked him away in an armoured personnel carrier. He is currently being interrogated by security agencies in a bid to ascertain his links  |

| Governor Okorocha gives shoot-at-sight order for cultists in Imo state Posted: 25 Jul 2014 06:31 AM PDT  The governor gave the directive when he paid a visit to the troubled local government area, plagued with cult activities, where residents are said to be living in constant fear. The governor inaugurated an Anti-Cult Task Force, which comprises of the Army, Police, SSS and the Imo Security Network, and gave them an order to shoot cult members at sight. The anti-cult task force will be deployed to troubled areas in the state to search for and move into cultists' dens as part of measures to improve security situation in the State. |
| Man guns down pregnant burglar after she told him 'I'm going to have a baby' Posted: 25 Jul 2014 05:45 AM PDT   Mr Greer, who was not arrested for the killing, said he shot the woman twice in the back after she told him she was pregnant. "She says 'don't shoot me, I'm pregnant - I'm going to have a baby'. And I shot her anyway. The lady didn't run as fast as the man so I shot her in the back twice. She's dead, but he got away." Mr Greer told news channel NBC4 without remorse.Miller and another man identified as 26 year old Gus Adams burgled the man's home in Long Beach, Los Angeles earlier this week. Greer said he caught them in his house in the middle of the night. "When I went in there, they tackled me. Both of them jumped up on top of me."Greer said while they were ransacking his house, he found his gun and fired it making them both run from the house empty handed. But as the lady was running away from the scene, she pleaded with him not to shoot her that she was pregnant, Greer still went ahead and killed her, justifying his actions as self-defense. But shouldn't he have had mercy on her? Seeing that she was running and hadn't stolen anything, didn't harm him and claimed to be pregnant? Opinions vary on this. What do you think? |

I would be the last person in this world to believe that government has not discovered those who are behind Boko Haram. Otherwise, we don't have any intelligence service in our country. Are they sacred cows that cannot be brought to book? Until we cut the source of their supplies and get those who are involved, we cannot stop them. But the danger is this, and I must say it here, we are at the verge of a break up. That is the truth. It's unfortunate. The Nigerian nation is too intelligent to claim not to have discovered those who are behind this. So, I really believe it's all in the hands of the authorities to decide whether they want to confront the issue headlong or to keep watching it until Nigeria breaks up......All that the church can do is to pray.
