Rev. Chris Okotie's N400m fleet of cars

Posted: 21 Jul 2014 01:36 PM PDT

Article written by Florence Amagiya for Vanguard. I can't figure out if she's for or against him. Lol. You want to paint him as a great guy and you mention he has N400million fleet of cars and that he has other choice properties in the US worth millions of dollars? Lol. Read below..
Human beings are not naturally known to always give without thinking of what they would get in return. So it is worthy of note when a man gives so much without asking for anything in return.
Rev. Chris Okotie may not have a stunning personality to some Nigerians, but he has endeared himself to many particularly those who got a helping hand when it mattered to them. He shows love to all and occasionally dishes out different gift items.
Recently, on his birthday when others would sit back to welcome and collect birthday gifts in multitude; he chose to dedicate the day giving to people household items, satisfying the material needs of people. In this edition, we bring you an icon that is always ready to share…
Enjoy..

No doubt, the ageless multi award winning pop Musician, Chris Okotie; now known as Rev. Chris Okotie is a very wealthy man; who loves seeing the faces of people light up whenever he gives.
He doesn't need any introduction to Nigerians as his album 'I need someone' brought him to limelight in the 80′s. It would also be recalled that Pastor Chris left singing secular songs for gospel songs more than 30 years ago; after he repented.
Today, he writes gospel songs and he sings to worship God. It is also worthy of note that Rev. Chris is also a writer as he wrote the best selling book titled "The last outcast" which was a sell out. Pastor doesn't have a choir in his church yet awesome songs are produced by him as the choir master and his church as his choir.
Rev. Chris was born on June 16, 1959. He is an Urhobo from Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State. He is the founder and senior pastor of Household of God Church; a church located in Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos state since 1987. He is a law graduate from the University of Nigeria, Enugu campus.
PROPERTIES
The church auditorium, including the children's department, the car parks and its extensive fallow land is worth billions of naira. He has other choice properties in the United State of America worth millions of dollars.

The church auditorium is a beautiful, large edifice, built to house more than 2000 people or more. Although, Household of God Church is not as crowded like people would have expected it to be, but they have the ability and movement of a batallion as Rev. Chris would always say that "God doesn't work with the crowd, but with selected few who are ready to work in the his vineyard".

INVESTMENTS
Rev. Chris Okotie believes strongly in investing in the lives of people; he is described by all who has made contact with him as an intense giver. He also believes that "God who has called him would take care of him".

So he doesn't believe in any investment except in the service of God and humanity. But even at that; he is arguably one of the richest pastors in Nigeria; as he collects very expensive wrist watches, wears expensive suits, ties, perfumes and shoes.

Rev.Chris spoke extensively on this very issue in one of his sermons. According to him " working in line with God's will and direction for my life has made me buy more expensive cars and wear more expensive clothes than most of my colleagues".

CHARITY
Pastor Chris spends a lot of money on charity as he is enjoys giving. He jokingly told the church on one of such Sundays that he spends over two hundred and fifty thousand naira each Sunday buying gifts for people.

The Yuletide seasons are not left out as he spends millions through the church making Christmas season beautiful for the less privilege in the Society.

Pastor and the church has a yearly grace programme; on the programme they organise an award event known as Karis award for people who did amazing things in their field of specialty.

CARS
He is an unrepentant car freak; as his cars are estimated to be over N400m. He has cars such as BMW, to exotic models of Range Rover and Mercedes Benz. Recently, he added a Rolls Royce Phantom, 2014 edition to the fleet in his garagewhich cost him a whooping sum of N80m. That was to be a personal gift to celebrate his 27 years on the pulpit and 30 years as a born again Christian.

Kanye West's GQ cover page story...quite interesting!

Posted: 21 Jul 2014 12:23 PM PDT

Here's Kanye's GQ cover page story...Some of you may enjoy it! Find below...
Kanye West has been married for ten days, and he has that new-husband way with the ring still, pulling it on and off like it's something he might yet undo, or do again. The ring is gold, and understated in a way that not much else about Kanye West is. He sits in the lobby of New York's Mercer Hotel—the same hotel where he and Jay Z recorded most of Watch the Throne—reflecting on the distance he's come. "I am a black American male from Chicago," West says, "who had my rehearsal dinner at Versailles and then got married in Florence with a view of the entire city." Continue...

He is one year removed from Yeezus, the record that took all of West's prodigious pop gifts and made a show of immolating them one by one. He is one year removed from telling anyone who'd listen that he was going to burn the entire fashion industry down, or at least he would once they let him through the door. Now they kind of have: He's got a capsule collection with A.P.C. out now; a line with Adidas that debuts with footwear this fall; and somewhere off in the distance, a new menswear line. He's also got a new record—maybe even a full-on pop record, though he hasn't decided yet. He knows he is no longer the most popular man in rap. "Currently that spot is taken," West says. "Let's be honest—he got last summer."

Who?
"You know. There's only one person."
Drake?
"Yeah. He got last summer. And I'd never given it up till last summer." Now he's thinking about taking it back. "It's a real question for me. Do I want to?"
Meanwhile, he's reckoning with what it is to be a father and a husband and a decent human. He's happier now—"You see I haven't name-dropped and said a bunch of negative stuff about people," he says at one point—but no less homicidally competitive or less convinced that he's the next Steve Jobs. He'd like to spend more time with his family. He'd also still like to build amusement parks. It's a contradiction, one he's only begun to resolve. And all the while, he can't go outside with his wife, Kim Kardashian, without having his photo taken. His entire waking life has become a performance, a manifesto, a fashion shoot.

Most of the time, he's cool with that fact. But not always. "I hope we don't see no paparazzi today," West says. "Because I'm still getting acquainted with these jogging pants I threw on. Like, 'That's not my statement!' "

You got married a week ago. You're the lead subject in practically every tabloid on the planet right now. Are you comfortable in that position, having that many eyes on you?
That wasn't my goal. My goal is just to be respected as a man when I walk down the street with my family. I don't care what your job is, you're not gonna talk down to me, you're not gonna try to get a rise out of me. I'm a man first. And in establishing that, some interesting things have happened. [laughs]

Like that TMZ video from last year, where you're walking with your pregnant fiancée with your head down to avoid the paparazzi, to the point where you walked into a sign and hit your head. Then TMZ made fun of you for walking into the sign. How do you live like that?
It's difficult. And then put on top of that the idea of going and taking meetings with people, and people say, "We don't want to work with you, because we saw you get mad about running into the sign."

Does that kind of mockery feel like an effort to de-fang you?
But also, there's no fangs. I don't have fangs. I'm a porcupine. I'm a blowfish. Like, I'm a—what's the fish that blows up?

A blowfish?
Yeah. I'm a blowfish. I'm not a shark, I'm a blowfish. So that perfect example about me hitting my head, it's like a blowfish. I wasn't coming out of my house going to a paparazzi's house to attack them. I'm defending my family in front of my own house. I'm defending my name as someone's screaming something negative at me. That's a blowfish. People have me pinned as a shark or a predator in some way, and in no way am I that. I wouldn't want to hurt anyone. I want to defend people. I want to help people.

Can I read you something? The New York Post's Page Six has an account of your wedding that reads, in part: "Kanye returned one hour before the wedding and didn't like the all-white bar that was in front of the Gold Toilet Tower. He took a saw and started sawing it in half himself. Two men held the bar stable as he sawed, and sawed, into the bar, defacing the entire front, screaming at everyone around him. He said it looked like a bar from Texas. Then he ordered two pieces of raw wood to be nailed onto the front of the bar. Once the wood was in place, 'Now,' he said, 'it's art.' The Italian construction teams looked at this guy and couldn't believe what they were seeing."
For the person that wrote that, were they involved with anything last year that was as culturally significant as the Yeezus tour or that album? They didn't even talk there about the photographs, or the dress, or Andrea Bocelli singing, or the marble tables. They're like: "It's a gold toilet." No. The bathrooms—that usually would be a porta-potty—were wrapped in a fabric that was neutral to match the fort. The bar was terrible, and the wedding planner didn't approve it with me. I was having issues with this wedding planner the entire time on approvals, and I get there and they threw some weird plastic bar there. So the same materials that were used to cover the bathroom, we said, "Let's just use that, because this is all we have to make the bar look better." Which it did, in the end. And anyone knows that you cannot pick up tools yourself, because of—what are those rules about the workers?

Unions?
Yeah, unions. You can't do that. It's illegal. That's false.

Then they say you gave a forty-five-minute toast to yourself.
And what I talked about in it was the idea of celebrity, and celebrities being treated like blacks were in the '60s, having no rights, and the fact that people can slander your name. I said that in the toast. And I had to say this in a position where I, from the art world, am marrying Kim. And how we're going to fight to raise the respect level for celebrities so that my daughter can live a more normal life. She didn't choose to be a celebrity. But she is. So I'm going to fight to make sure she has a better life.

How does it feel when you read something like that account of your wedding or you see a photo of you looking glum at a zipline go viral?
My feelings don't matter anymore.

Of course they do.
No. One of the things that I said at the speech was, anyone that's at this table has had to defend me or Kim or both of us at some point in their life. Ask a boxer: "In the third round, when he hit you from the side on your ear, how did that specifically feel?" You wouldn't ask a boxer that. Because you know they're there to fight. Meaning now you know I'm here to fight. I'm here to fight for the re-education of what celebrity is. To say, "Yes, we are celebrities, but yes, we're also innovators, we're also inventors, we're also thoughtful."

Frustrated husband creates spreadsheet detailing different reasons why his wife would not have sex with him

Posted: 21 Jul 2014 07:30 AM PDT

A 26 year old sexually frustrated man created a spreadsheet detailing reasons why his wife would not have sex with him. For a whole month, the man jotted down every reason the woman gave to turn him down when he asked for sex...from 'I'm too tired', to 'I'm watching the show' to 'I have to be up early' and sent it to her via email during a business trip to get her attention. She said when she tried to reach him after receiving the email, he refused to pick her calls and she angrily posted it on Reddit.

The lady said they'd been together for five years but only married for two years without any kids.
"Yesterday morning, while in a taxi on the way to the airport, husband sends a message to my work email which is connected to my phone. He's never done this, we always communicate in person or by text. I open it up, and it's a sarcastic diatribe basically saying he won't miss me for the 10 days I'm gone." She said "Attached is a spreadsheet of all the times he has tried to initiate sex since June 1, with a column for my "excuses", using verbatim quotes of why I didn't feel like having sex at that very moment.'
The spreadsheet, which has since been deleted, has been shared by thousands of people online.

The CharlyBoy brand and its identity...overflogged criticism..

Posted: 21 Jul 2014 07:28 AM PDT

Article not written by me. It's the impression of an innocent observer. Read below...
For as long as I know, the CharlyBoy brand has been openly abused and criticized. It seems that Nigerians get shocked everytime CharlyBoy steps out, whether wearing the same old garb or donning a new look.
What I don't know, however, is why.
Have you ever wondered, or has it occurred to you to wonder why people so to say, catch cold whenever CharlyBoy 'sneezes'? Continue...
In the first place, I will really like to know why people gaze, criticize, gossip, abuse and even curse Charlyboy. Don't they know what brand identity is?

Nigerians are not backward, neither are we unintelligent, forget what you might have been told or not told. We are smart people naturally, unless of course, we are blinded by the gross poverty of the mind that pervades the society, especially today.

Brand identity in a lay man's description, is what you can use to identify or differentiate a brand from another. And if I ask you now, to mention some of the things you can identify CharlyBoy with, I'm sure you won't be found wanting. Its actually one thing, CRAZE or call it MADNESS but its expressed in a million and one ways or pieces: skulls, goth, bikes, tatoos. piercings, rings, high-heeled boots, loads of women as props etc.

I remember those days of the Charly Boy Show, the slogan used to be 'anything can happen on the Charly Boy Show'. This, summed up and to my mind, is the CharlyBoy brand identity where you expect the unexpected, and when the unexpected shows up, don't be too surprised.
Its hot-button, yes!
How then are my people still very surprised every single time?

Honestly, I'm not loving this, people are just making CharlyBoy abuse Nigerians calling them daft because, according to him, even when he comes out and tells them the behind-the-scenes of his stunts, they still get very perplexed.
Well, may be its okay to be mesmerized, excited and amused by the stunts, because that is entertainment. The part I have a grouse with is when people insinuate that the stunts are fetish, devilish and all that.

What do you want again?
I've heard the mastermind behind the CharlyBoy brand, Mr. Charles Oputa, in his interviews, say times without number that he does not allow CharlyBoy into his house: meaning that his real self is entirely different from the act, his alter ego.
He has said that he created the brand to shock monotonous minds who would not dare to bare and funny enough, some people are allowing themselves to fit into that description.
Meanwhile, within all the razzmatazz is a strong positive message of self realization and actualization which all and sundry can exploit, thereby creating a better society and a better world.

For those who criticize him, that feat is as futile as cursing public establishments. If you like, curse google or facebook till thy kingdom come, e no go work. This is simply because this is a brand and its got its identity!
Have you ever cursed any of the telecoms service providers for choosing their various colours, for bearing their names or adopting their various logos? Even if you have, what result did you get?
Its the same thing here, when something is called a brand, we should respect its identity. You may not even like the brand or patronize it but that doesn't stop it from being one.
And what profit does your criticism of another deliver to you?
Mind you, the brand is busy, churning out campaigns and strategies to move it forward and keep it relevant and top-of-the-mind, but you are there, poking your nose, eye, mouth and entire body in another man's matter while yours is non-existent.

When will you start building your own life, what legacy are you living now, and which one will you leave when you're gone?

As far as I'm concerned, the CharlyBoy brand is only living its dream, fulfilling the purpose for which it was created, and no sane mind should have a problem with that. Rather, wise people should take a cue from it.

Perhaps I should say the CharlyBoy brand is living what others are dreaming.
For example, I spoke to a cross section of men about the flanking by the virgins. They love to have that, but are not bold enough to display it openly. At best, they secretly and nocturnally carry it out. They're fake, while CharlyBoy is real and sincere.

Just thought I should talk to us, I don't know Charles Oputa personally, I'm only looking at his brand purely from a professional and occupational point of view.
Every time people raise dust about the brand, I find it funny. Even a little kid can't be 'fooled' too many times. Nigerians are not daft please, don't let ignoramus thrive.
If something is a brand, find out if it is consonant with its identity. If it is and you like the brand, promote its course, if not, just let it be and face your life.
Mind your (own) business or you're not busy.

PS: By the way, I must commend Mr. Charles Oputa, he has been very consistent with the brand. Kudos!

Beyonce and Jay Z headed for divorce?

Posted: 21 Jul 2014 06:38 AM PDT

This is probably BS but it's interesting to read. Insiders are claiming Jay Z and Beyonce's marriage is all but over and the only thing keeping them together is their tour. Don't believe it but read below..

From Page Six
Beyoncé and Jay Z have more than 99 problems and only "divine intervention" can save the troubled marriage, a source close to the powerful couple has told The Post.
While Jay Z seemingly is the one most at fault, he's also the one doing all in his power to keep the couple together, even hiring marriage counselors who are believed to be traveling with the super duo on their tour, the source said.
"They are trying to figure out a way to split without divorcing . . . This is a huge concert tour and they've already gotten most of the money from the promoters up front," the source said. Continue..
Despite the tens of millions the couple will pocket from the current tour, this will certainly be their last and the end of the tour could officially spell the end of the marriage, the source said.
"There are no rings, if you haven't noticed," the source said, admitting that he thought things would get better after the birth of the couple's daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
"For just a split moment, things got real for them and she was even talking about adding to the family," the source said.
"But, after a while, Jay was out doing Jay and Bey was out doing Bey. They made the classic mistake of thinking a child would change everything and help to rekindle the initial fire, and it didn't."

My parents initially didn't want me to marry Soyinka'- wife opens up on love story

Posted: 21 Jul 2014 06:04 AM PDT

Wife of Prof. Wole Soyinka, Folake Soyinka recently opened up on their love story in an interview with The News magazine where she revealed how she and the Nobel laureate met and her parents initial objection to their relationship.
"There were objections from everywhere except from my sisters and brother who were happy if I was. I also had the support of his siblings here. My parents along with most of my relatives objected, not because of anything, they just felt he was too famous and too accomplished. They worried about that. But within a few months after we were married, my parents had changed their mind and they loved him until they passed away. His close friends didn't have a problem with it but also everyone had an opinion. Then came the Nobel Prize in 1986 and that derailed everything for a couple of years. More than a quarter of a century later, those opinions didn't count, we are still trudging along. I have enjoyed love because of him" she said
On how they met;
"I knew he liked me from when I was in the University of Ife but I was young and he was so accomplished so I was kind of worried. After I left Ife and went to do my NYSC in Kaduna state, Dr Biodunjeyifo came to visit me and said Kongi (Prof Wole Soyinka) had been looking for me. After the service year, Dr Yomi Ogunbiyi who was at the Guardian got me a job there and one day, Wole stopped by. Our courtship was interesting" she said
She also revealed that the Nobel laureate, who turned 80 recently, is a great cook;
"He cooks and he is quite good at it. He even cooked about two days ago. When the boys were really little, one day in California, he called all of us to the kitchen and said he wanted to have a family meeting. They were so young I don't even think they had any concept of what a family meeting was. He lined all three according to their heights and asked me to sit. He said he has something to tell us and he was only going to say it once. He whipped some cooking utensils, moved them around noisily in the pot, threw some up, caught them performed a few tricks and then told us to listen. He said there were only three people in the world who can cook pasta like he does; one is dead, the other is in Silica, Italy and he is the third one and he is going to cook something that we have never eaten. He cooked pasta that day and we truly enjoyed it. True dramatist." she said.

Bodies of MH17 crash victims tossed into rubbish trucks and taken to morgue train after 3 days laying in field

Posted: 21 Jul 2014 06:37 AM PDT

Bodies of about 200 victims of the Malaysian Airlines flight that was shot down on Thursday July 17th were left in heat in fields for over three days before they were finally piled up in bags and tossed into rubbish trucks then transported to refrigerated train carriages where they are said to be decaying.

The train with the dead bodies, which observers says is stinking of decay, is stationed in the town of Torez where rebels who are in charge say they will let it leave this afternoon but didn't indicate where or whether the bodies would be handed over.

There's an international outrage that the rebels are holding the bodies unnecessarily as families beg for their loved ones to be returned to them so they could bury them properly.

The bizarre part is that Holland, who lost more citizens than any other country, isn't showing as much outrage as other countries like Britain that have threatened to seize Russian's billions. See more pics after the cut...

Bagged victims can be seen above lined up in front of a truck yesterday at the crash site, ready to be moved to the refrigerated trains

I met Francis, my hubby on Palmchat (Part 1)

Sponsored article, not written by me...Enjoy!
The morning rush hour was bad, very bad. I have been in Lagos all my life and I have seen traffic gridlock but that misty July Wednesday morning was simply soul wrenching. Not to say being stuck in traffic wasn't my fault, you know what they say about giving excuses; especially if you are a corporate staff of a time-conscious organd you happen to have an appointment with the boss at 9:00 am in the same morning.

So, there I was stuck in traffic by 7:15am along Ikoroduroad heading for Victoria Island. "My gosh…Gordon will kill me" I remember blurting out those over 20 times that morning. Mr. Gordon Kirchowsky is the Head of Operations of our multinational company with a branch in Victoria Island Lagos, Nigeria-My boss and I am the Human Resource Manager who is to make a power point presentation to Mr. G. Kirchowsky on the workforce restructuring that we had only recently concluded at the organization. The issues I was to present bordered on: Who was to do what…The experience, qualification and training required and I had just 15mins of the 1hour 30 minutes of the morning session to do that.

In all this, I couldn't help reminiscing in the mist of my storm; "Francis is a perfect gentleman and yeah…it was high time I had a man in my life". I bet those thoughts were out loud and it all started with a blind date on a mobile app (…did I say blind date, well yeah)….I will tell you, (lol) dis gist plenty o.

Boko Haram abducts politician's wife and two children in Borno state

Posted: 21 Jul 2014 03:34 AM PDT

Suspected members of Boko Haram have kidnapped the wife and two children of Alhaji Zaraye Mala Sheriff, a Councillor in Borno state who is reported to be a cousin of former Borno state, governor, Ali Modu Sheriff.
A source told Daily Trust that the men stormed the Ngala town residence of the politician in the early hours of Friday July 18th.
"The insurgents stormed the house of the councillor around 12:30am on Friday and asked the wife about her husband. They also asked her for the money he kept at home but she kept quiet. Luckily enough, Zaraye was at the other side of the house and when he heard the conversation, he fled," a source from Ngala said.
He said angered by her silence and the absence of their target, the sect members took her and her two children away. Continue...
"Up till now, nothing has been heard of the woman and her kids. We have not heard anything about the two businessmen either," he said.
Two other politicians, Alhaji Annur Mohammed and Liman Alhaji Hussaini were also reportedly kidnapped by the sect men.

Meanwhile there are reports that Maiduguri metropolis and its environs have been without power in the last three weeks following the destruction of electricity installations around Damboa town, 85 kilometers away from the state capital.

A senior official of the utility firm supplying the state with power, the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) said the attack by Boko Haram members in the last three weeks around Damboa caused "huge damage" to their 33KVA installations.

"The problem is aggravated by the security situation around Damboa which makes it difficult for our men to effect repairs. The truth is that it will take time before electricity would be restored in Maiduguri and environs," he said.

Nigerian teen arrested after his mum is found hurt & younger brother dead

Posted: 21 Jul 2014 02:39 AM PDT

An 18 year old Nigerian teen has been arrested after his doctor mum was found seriously injured and his younger brother found dead beside her at their home in Dix Hill, Long Island, New York.

Their dad returned home on Saturday night July 19th to discover 15 year old Bradley Okonkwo (pictured centre) dead in their apartment, and his wife, Dr Chinwe Okonkwo (pictured left) suffering from severe head wounds. He immediately called the police who arrived the scene shortly afterwards.

Charles Okonkwo jnr (pictured right), who'd left the home shortly after the incident, was eventually arrested near the family home, and has been charged for attacking his mother. He is yet to be charged for his brother's death, though he confessed to 'hurting his mother and his brother'.

Dr Okonkwo is currently receiving treatment at Stony Brook University Hospital, but is said to be in serious condition. She sustained serious trauma including facial fractures and loss of consciousness. She had been badly beaten.

Charles Jnr is said to have a history of psychiatric issues and the family had been trying to help him before the vicious attack. I bet the brother was trying to protect his mum when he was killed. Sad!

During his arraignment yesterday, Charles kept his head down throughout and did not enter a plea.
