Moldovan doctor faces suspension after sharing delivery room selfie with naked mother in the background

Posted: 04 Mar 2016 11:49 AM PST

Dr Sergiu Sochirca, a former director of the local hospital in Floresti, north-east Moldova has been widely criticized and faces suspension after he took and shared a selfie in a delivery room with a woman lying naked in the background. The post went viral on social media in Moldova, and the National Ministry of Health has now demanded his suspension.

Dr Sochirca posted two photos on his Facebook account, the first one is a selfie from the operation room, showing a naked woman on a hospital bed behind him.

The second photo shows the newborn being held by a nurse for the doctor to take a photo, alongside the photos he wrote: 'Work is at its peak.
'Greetings to everyone who is doing night shifts! A small baby with big hopes just came into this world!'

Health Minister, Ruxanda Glavan, assures the doctor will be punished for his unprofessional behavior.
She said: 'Regarding the outrageous and irresponsible behaviour of the doctor in Floresti who published photos from the surgery room of a half-conscious mother and her newborn on Facebook: I've sent an inquiry to the management of Floresti District Hospital to ask for the immediate sanctioning of doctor Sergiu Sochirca according to current legislation.'

The doctor's actions breached patient confidentiality rights, personal data protection and ethical norms regulating the medical profession.

The hospital is currently deciding what action they will take in consequence of Dr Sochirca's behaviour.

Money Laundering: Court Orders South African Lady To Forfeit $374,355 To FG (Photo)

Justice C.M.A Olatoregun of the Federal High Court, Lagos on Friday, March 4, 2016, convicted Ngqula Nosisi Pam, a South African for money laundering and bulk cash smuggling. The convict was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on February 1, 2016 after her arrest at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

The convict had earlier pleaded 'not guilty' but changed her plea to 'guilty' and was consequently convicted by the court. Justice Olatoregun ordered that the convict forfeit the entire sum of $374,355.00 to the Federal Government of Nigeria. The judge also ordered the EFCC to remit the money to the Federal Government Account within 29 days and filed notice of remittance at the court. The Judge admonished the convict to shun illegality in the future.

The one count charge reads: "that you Ngqula Nosisi Pam on or about the 24th of March, 2015 at Murtala Muhammed International Airport within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court had in possession cash in the sum of Three Hundred and Seventy Four Thousand, Three Hundred and Fifty Five United States of America Dollars ($374,355.00) which you transported from the Republic of South Africa to Lagos; and failed to declare the sum of Three Hundred and Fifty Five United States of America Dollars ($374,355.00) to the officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service as required under the provisions of section 2(3) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended by Act No. 1 of 2012 and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 2(5) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended by Act No. 1 of 2012".

Outrage as street beggar is seen driving off in £50,000 Audi TT sports car

Posted: 04 Mar 2016 11:02 AM PST

35 year old man, Matthew Brinton, a professional beggar in Bank Street, Cornwall, who begs for alms was video taped packing up his 'begging gear' and his into an Audi TT in a car park and driving off in it.
The person who saw him recorded his actions and posted it online, people who saw it got enraged especially those who had given him money and or food in the past, they said they felt betrayed by the scam.

According to Daily Express, contrary to what people thought, Mr. Brinton isn't homeless, he allegedly has a home in Newquay home.
He says since the video was circulated on Facebook, the police has told him that he's had several death threats.

Mr Brinton said:
"I have not seen any of the social media posts because I do not have access to the internet but according to the police I've had lots of death threats.
"People are assuming too much and I'm getting a lot of abuse, which is pushing me to suicide.
"This has been going on for years. "There is only so much someone can take."
Inspector Dave Meredith at Newquay police said:
"He had a few threats, with people making stupid comments on social media.
"We've told him, you need to be careful because of the video on Facebook; there's lots of ill-feeling and animosity because of it".
Some of the Facebook comments supported him while others were against him.

One said: 'Leave the man alone the dog Hazel is well cared for. Vent anger towards what is really making you angry - (it's) awful bullying a vulnerable man'.

One critic said: 'I'm particularly disgusted as he conned £40 from an elderly gentleman I know to 'pay for a B&B' for the night' Then went home! The poor elderly gent was distraught that his kindness had been abused in such a way'.

Another said: ''I brought him hot food and a hot drink was very rude and ungrateful in front of my sons who were 8 and 12 at the time. I told them most homeless people were grateful and not rude like him'.

Another wrote: 'Why judge people you don't have to? He is an ok bloke just lost in life'.

Brinton said the car was left to him by his Grandmother but was stolen soon after the video appeared on social media.

We are ready for 'I'd Rather Be Self Made' phase 2. Happening March 12th in Lagos

Posted: 04 Mar 2016 10:47 AM PST

Hello ladies and ladies...hehe...we are finally ready to commence the second phase of my pet project, 'I'd Rather Be Self Made'. Venue for the gathering was what was delaying it but we finally found a place. So we are meeting on Saturday March 12th somewhere in Surulere...I wanted to give one week notice so that the ladies who are interested will prepare, especially those who live outside of Lagos.

Someone told me and I'm hoping that the statistics are wrong, that 50% of ladies between 18 and 28 in Nigeria sleep with men for money. The purpose of Self-Made in 2016 is to reduce that number to about 49.8%. :-). But more than anything else, encourage young ladies not to go down that path.

So, we are not only going to help with financing small scale businesses, we will also mentor young girls. Apart from meeting this Saturday, I'm also planning a monthly Self Made mentorship programme where aspiring female entrepreneurs can meet established ones and rob minds and help each other. We need more women to inspire the next generation. For this one on Saturday...

Bring your proposals with you on Saturday. These are the guidelines for your proposal...
I. Only three pages of the proposal/business plan.
II. Give biodata, provide phone contact, email and state of residence
III. State business idea, explain how it works and list what is needed to start up the business
IV. The money you need shouldn't be more than one million. (We are giving between 100k to N1m max)
V. Be aware that you are going to defend your proposal if you're picked.

I promise ladies, I will do everything I can to establish businesses for as many young ladies as I can...I will not only use my money...I plan to eventually disturb some rich people and get them to buy into this dream and invest in our women.

For venue for Saturday's meeting, call these numbers - 07051229040 - 08091844327 for address and further inquiries.

See you ladies then.

Looking to set up a branch of your business in the UK?

Posted: 04 Mar 2016 08:52 AM PST

The UK Government has continually pledged its willingness to open its doors to genuine international entrepreneurs and businesses who are willing to set up a branch/subsidiary in the UK. The British government understands the impact international businesses have on the economy, especially in terms of generating employment opportunities for British citizens and other macro-economic factors. It has therefore taken bold steps in ensuring that the UK remains an attractive hub for international entrepreneurs and businesses.

Nigeria, been a commonwealth nation has stood a major beneficiary over the years as prospering Nigerian entrepreneurs all over the world have sought to establish a base in the UK using one of the business immigration options available to them. You may choose to either set up a branch of your business in the UK or send a representative (this may be you or any other representative) to represent your company in the UK.
Unfortunately a few number of businesses have failed in making these applications as a result of inadequate knowledge and improper planning. There are certain financial and non-financial requirements that need to be met prior to making an application. The good news is that we believe that any genuine business and/or businessman may be able to meet those requirements if approached the right way.

Different options available to migrate to the UK
For Nigerians living in Nigeria, the following options are currently available: -
Visa route: Dependent Visas
Category: - Individual Immigration
Brief Description: This visa category may be useful for individuals who already have a family member in the UK (either as a student, worker or as a settled person) and are looking to apply to join them as a dependant. Note that some dependant categories are given rights to work full time in the UK. Visit www.reissedwards.com for more information.

Visa route: Student Visas
Category: Individual Immigration
Brief Description: This is largely the most common visa route to the UK. The Tier 4 General (Student visa) is a point based visa route. You meet the required points and you get the visa; this is not the same with other discretionary visa applications where the case worker would have to access each application on a subjective basis.

Visa route: EEA Family Permit
Category: - Individual Immigration
Brief Description: This route is appropriate for a family member of a national of an EU member state. A family member may be a wife, husband, civil or unmarried partner, child, grandchild, parent or grandparent of a non-UK EEA national; or a dependent extended family member, for example brother, sister or cousin, the main carer of a British citizen; a financially self-sufficient child who is an EEA national; or a child of someone who was a worker in the UK and an EEA national. This visa is usually valid for 6 months.

Visa route: Spouse/Unmarried partner Visa
Category: Individual Immigration
Brief Description: This route may be the best option for married and/or unmarried partners looking to bring their spouse or unmarried partners to the UK. Unmarried partners would have to demonstrate that they have been living together continuously for the last two consecutive years.

Category: Business Immigration
Visa route: Prospective entrepreneur
Brief Description: The visa category may be recommended for entrepreneurs who are coming to the UK to secure funding to set up a UK business. Entrepreneurs need to demonstrate that they have either been considered for funding or have set up meetings with potential sponsors in the UK with recognized UK financial institution, entrepreneurial seed funding competition or Government department

Category: Business Immigration
Visa route: Tier 1 Entrepreneur (Initial Application)
Brief Description: To apply for this visa you would need to demonstrate that you have access to not less than £200,000 of your own money in a regulated financial institution, and which is disposable in the UK. This length of this visa is usually 3 years 4 months and can be extended for another 2 years after expiration. You may be able to apply for settlement after the 5 years period.

Category: Business Immigration
Visa route: Tier 1 Investor
Brief Description: This visa category would be recommended for High net worth Individuals looking to invest in the UK. You will have to show that you have accessto at least £2 million under your control in a regulated financial institution, which is disposable in the UK.

Category: Individual and Business Immigration
Visa category: Sole rep of an overseas business
Brief Description: This visa category may be recommended for Individuals who have been posted to the United Kingdom for the purpose of establishing a branch or subsidiary or on a long term assignment in the UK. Blood stained knife claimed to have been found at OJ's estate...

Posted: 04 Mar 2016 08:38 AM PST

A retired police officer claims to be in possession of a blood stained knife buried at O.J. Simpson's old Rockingham Estate. TMZ reports below...
A construction worker found a knife buried on the perimeter of the former O.J. Simpson estate ... and it's currently being tested by the LAPD in a top secret investigation ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
The story is incredible. We're told a construction worker found the knife years ago -- we have heard several different stories, ranging from "several years ago" to 1998, when the house was demolished. The weapon is a folding buck knife.
Our law enforcement sources say the construction worker took the knife to the street, where he saw an LAPD cop. He told the officer where he found the knife and the cop took it.
Turns out the cop -- who worked in the traffic division -- was off duty at the time, working security for a movie shoot at a house across the street on Rockingham. Our sources say the officer took the knife home and kept it ... kept it for years.
In late January of this year, after the cop retired from the LAPD, he contacted a friend who worked in LAPD's Robbery Homicide Division (RHD). The cop told the friend about the knife and said he was getting it framed to put on his wall. He wanted his friend to get the DR (Departmental Record) number for the Nicole Brown Simpson/Ronald Goldman murder case, which he planned on engraving in the frame.
We're told the friend was indignant, and told his superiors. The brass was outraged and demanded that the retired cop turn the knife over, which he did.
Our sources say the knife is currently being tested for hair and fingerprints. It will be moved to the Serology Unit next week, where it will be tested for DNA and other biological evidence.
One source familiar with the investigation tells us, cops who eyeballed the knife think it could have blood residue on it, but it's hard to know without testing because it's extremely rusted and stained. The investigation is top secret. It's been logged into the LAPD's computer system outside the official case file to maintain security. Our sources say, since O.J. was found not guilty, it's still an open case. That means cops can continue investigating, but O.J. cannot be prosecuted again -- double jeopardy.

Photo: EFCC arrest man for N11.6m Internet fraud

Posted: 04 Mar 2016 10:16 AM PST

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested one Tonwerigha Oyintonbra Tombrown for allegedly duping an Irish businesswoman, Izabela Glogowska to the tune of €53,000 (equivalent of N11.6million) in an Internet scam.

According to a statement by the spokesperson of the antigraft agency, Wilson Uwajaren, the Irish woman Glogowska alleged that Tombrown who posed as a prominent online trader Michael Freeman, tricked her into sending him €1,000 via Western Union/Money gram as payment for a business deal.

She added that he later pretended to be one Ben Andrews demanding for an additional €10,000 claiming that there was a policy change. The same Andrews advised her to send the money to Tombrown in Nigeria, who ended up diverting the money to a fake account. Efforts to recover her money proved abortive, hence she petitioned the EFCC. The suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

Affairs of the Heart Premiere: Why you don’t want to miss it – Stella Damasus

Posted: 04 Mar 2016 08:11 AM PST

You have been off the radar for a while, as a thespian (a good one at that) are you cooking up something for the fans?
Yes I am. Affairs of the Heart is the first one you will probably see. Between is the next one which is in post-production. Produced by Daniel Ademinokan and I. Directed by Daniel.

You relocated to the US obviously for good reasons, but do you by any chance miss the movie scripts back home?
I miss everything back home, not just the scripts. It's so amazing to see all the new movies and new Actor's that have emerged. I am so proud of the movie practitioners who have worked hard to raise the bar in our film making.

You starred in the emotional and captivating movie, Affairs of the Heart, which premieres at the Siverbird Cinemas nationwide come March 11, 2016, how would you describe the movie?
AFFAIRS OF THE HEART is a movie that a lot of NIGERIANS both home and abroad can definitely identify with. It's an emotional movie but also very expository as regards the plight of people who would go to any length to live the American Dream.

It's a story of betrayal, love, romance and distrust, tell us about your character in the movie?
I played the female lead, who was deceived into a union that she believed was a blessing. My character went through a series of emotions that a lot of women go through daily but we don't know how deep some of these issues are. Two things that people also will take away from this movie but are often overlooked is FORGIVNESS and REDEMPTION. In some ways, you can say it's a movie that will also speak to the hearts of CHRISTIANS.

What did you take away from in terms of personal experience?
AFFAIRS OF THE HEART is a constant reminder to adults that are looking to get married to really be certain of the character of their intended spouse. Getting into a lifelong relationship cannot be business as usual. The intentions of both parties have to be clearly stated. Apart from that, it also made me analyze my decisions better.

What will you say is your favorite scene from the movie and why?
I love the scene where my character was trying to seduce her husband by taking off her robe to expose (what she believed was a lingerie), but was embarrassed and rejected. It's my favorite scene because it carries mixed emotions. I felt bad for women who have gone through that, but it also made me laugh. Joseph Benjamin is such a funny guy and the way he played the scene was hilarious.

Any advice for all the Viviennes (the character you played in the movie) out there?
Like I said earlier, try and get to know the person you intend to marry. Nothing should be done in a rush because the relationship is for a lifetime.

Your absence from the Nigeria movie scene has really been felt by your fans. Would you say Affairs of the Heart is part of the moves to keep that name, Stella Damasus alive in our hearts?
I will not say STELLA DAMASUS is making moves to keep herself in the hearts of people. When people love you, they don't forget you. The ones that don't care are those that can easily forget you. I have always given attention to the ones who really care about me and what I am doing. AFFAIRS OF THE HEART was one of the most professionally written scripts that I was offered and the director ROBERT PETERS is someone I trust to make a great movie. I had not done a movie in a long time so when they sent this to me, I knew it was something worth doing. As you may have heard I was working on many other things in America and really could not make movies because of schedule. After AFFAIRS OF THE HEART it took me another full year to have the time to do BETWEEN.

There is a tremendous improvement in movie productions currently in Nollywood, what would you say stand Affairs of the Heart out among the lot?
AFFAIRS OF THE HEART is an amazing movie that should be rated by those who see it. I am not one to compare people's movies because it takes a lot of effort to make them. Besides, the budget of the movie plays a major role in the outcome so it will be unfair to make a comparison when you don't have the budget different people have worked with. I just know that AFFAIRS OF THE HEART is a movie that I would love to watch over and over again. JOSEPH BENJAMIN is one of the best actors I have worked with, ROBERT PETERS is such a talented and gifted DIRECTOR, the other actors who I worked with for the first time were so professional. I know that NEVEADA BRIDGE PRODUCTIONS did so much to make sure the production was properly done. I don't have any doubt that people will love and recommend this movie.

What will you say attracted you to the script?
The dialogue, the subject matter and the fact that I would work with JOSEPH BENJAMIN.

What was it like working with Joseph Benjamin as the lead actor?
He is the most professional actor ever. Extremely patient through every scene and every location. Always minding his business but very funny when he joins a conversation. I got to see the spiritual side of him which made me so happy as well. He is talented and knows the true meaning of becoming a character.

Affairs of the Heart addresses two major issues, one is the damaging effect of betrayal and secondly, the ultimate power of uncommon forgiveness; do you think you guys did enough justice to the message?
I believe we did and even more.

Any plans to delight your fans soon with coming down to Nigeria for a production soon?
Yes. I have already spoken to two producers, one in Nigeria and a collaboration in Ghana. By God's grace when I finish the projects I have for this year I will head down.

Why do you think anyone should go see the Affairs of the Heart?
STELLA is in it. (Laughing so hard now because I can imagine what some people will say). Well, it's a great movie that everyone can identify with. It has all the elements people look for in a movie, good acting, good costumes, good locations, good dialogue, great chemistry, good technical work, strong message.

With fame comes negative vibes from both the media and fans alike. As an actress you have had your fair share, what would say has been your weapon in handling negative stories about you?
GOD, my family and maturity

Your girls are all grown up now, what new lessons have you learnt in the area of motherhood?
Too many I would need another interview to talk about it. Motherhood has taught me patience and endurance. It has also made me love and trust God more.

One thing that most Nigerians miss when outside the country is the unique Nigeria delicacies, which would you say you miss the most?
I don't miss anyone because we have African stores here so I cook African food once in a while.

There are often complaints from actors which often bother on either the overbearing attitude of the director or the shabby manner of the entire production. What was it like working on the set of a Nevada Bridge Productions?
I have explained that earlier and I think in this production we worked as a family and have remained close friends ever since. Anyone who works with Nevada ends up doing different things with them. I am hosting a show for NEVILLE's band soon and many other things lined up.

Would you say the growing trend in the Nollywood/Hollywood collaboration is a positive development of the Nigeria movie industry?
Definitely. No man is an island, so the collaborations helps in expanding the followership to other regions. The fan base will definitely grow and we also learn from other cultures. When you have a symbiotic relationship we all strive for a common goal and working together makes it better and more authentic.

Movie roles defines an actor and often times determines how far the actor progresses in his/her career. What will you never do in a movie or better still, what script will you never accept, no matter the financial gain or career elevation and why?
I can play any role as long as the things I am asked to do are relevant to the story. I am not one who believes that sex sells. Even if there will be a sex scene I always confirm how it will be done, VULGARITY should not be the driving force of a movie. I am a story teller not a STRIPPER.
The movie opens in Cinemas nationwide from March 11, 2016.

Graphic pics: The aftermath of Agatu attack: charred corpses, burnt houses and invading herdsmen

Posted: 04 Mar 2016 07:54 AM PST

Dozens were killed and many houses razed to the ground when suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked villages in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State last week.  Ikwulono John Anthony visited Agatu on Wednesday, March 2 and revealed the things he saw.

Below is what he wrote along with the photos
"I took the risk and came to Agatu together with the delegation from presidency where we visited Obagaji, Egba, Aila, Adagbo, Okokolo, Akwu, Ugboju, Odugbeho, Odejo.
Entire villages were burnt down completely by fulani herdsmen, unidentified corpses of Agatu were discovered, properties were looted by invaders, as I speak fulani herdsmen are camping in the deserted villages. I couldn't believe what my eyes saw.
Fellow Nigerians, if government did not wade into the Agatu crisis immediately by camping military in the crisis areas, then the hope of an Agatu man or woman is gone.
President Buhari, Governor Ortom, Governor Almakura, You must act now not later. I am weeping for my people as I am reporting from Agatu. Fulanis were seeing with surfiscated weapons, face to face some of them ran but some did not. This is barbaric"

Bobbi Kristina cause of death revealed..she died from a combination of alcohol, drugs and drowning

Posted: 04 Mar 2016 07:53 AM PST

A U.S judge yesterday ruled that the autopsy report for late Bobbi Kristina Brown must be unsealed after a request by a news agency, WXIA, who wanted the records for a report on the heroin epidemic in Bobbi Kristina's upscale Atlanta neighborhood.. and now, the cause of death has been revealed...

According to the coroner, Bobbi Krisinta died as a result of 'Immersion of face in water complicating mixed drug intoxication."

"The drugs involved included marijuana, alcohol (ethanol), benzoylecgonine (a cocaine-related substance), benzodiazepines (medications used for sedation or to treat anxiety), and morphine."
"It could not be determined from toxicology tests whether the morphine resulted from heroin use. The other question which arises is manner of death. In other words, did death result from natural causes such as disease, an intentional act such as suicide or homicide, an unintentional cause (accident), or in an undetermined manner when a more specific manner of death cannot be established."
The number of affluent young people who have died from heroin overdoses, including three of Bobbi Kristina's friends, has dramatically increased in recent years.

While investigating, WXIA found Bobbi Kristina's autopsy report was the only overdose death located in the hot zone that was sealed.
