The hashtag #PratyushaBanerjee is the number trending topic in the country right now. Television actress Pratyusha Banerjee, known for her role in popular TV series Balika Vadhu, committed suicide today Friday April 1st. A Mumbai police officer said the 24-year-old was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her house in Mumbai's Goregaon. Some 'personal reasons' are said to be behind the suicide.   Banerjee was best known for her debut role in Balika Vadhu. She later shifted to reality shows and participated in Bigg Boss 7. Her last outing on TV was in Sasural Simar Ka ..  Banerjee had claimed in her complaint that the men barged into her flat in Laljipada and left the place only after she threatened to call the police. Before entering Bigg Boss 7 in 2013, Banerjee had made headlines when she filed an FIR against her boyfriend Makrand Malhotra.  Actor Dolly Bindra said no one from the film fraternity believes she could have ended her life. Various artists apart from Bindra including Sara Khan, Jay Bhanushali, Meghna Naidu, Sachin Shroff were seen waiting outside the accident and emergency ward at the hospital soon as the news reached them. | Denrele talks about his experience on the set of the movie, Pepper Soup Posted: 01 Apr 2016 11:34 AM PDT  They say that true artists suffer for their craft, but perhaps no artist has suffered like myself on this hustle of ours! The moment I got the script titled #Peppersoup from Grace Oboba Edwin-Okon with me Denrele as the lead character, I just wanted to jump on board! And yes, I jumped on in my gangsta mode!  The producer wanted to strike set and cancel the shoot but I refused! Say what? First rule: the show must go on! And I was kinda lucky we were shooting in an hospital (Pinnacle Medical centre) so there were nurses to dress the wound. Had to add some extra extra extension to my hair to hide the plaster....And I got back on set like nothing happened! I'm was in a lot of pain buy hey...Pinnacle medical services and Derwin Productions had put too much into the project for Peppersoup to be scrapped..THE SHOW MUST GO ON! I had fun shooting Peppersoup with Layole Oyatogun, Beverly Osu, Lisa Omorodion, Lilian Afegbai, Bryan Stevens and all the other cast members as well as the amazing crew the Executive producer Dr. Maymunah Kadiri, the director/producer Grace Oboba Edwin-Okon and everyone else who worked on Peppersoup. | This is probably the filthiest dorm room you've ever seen (photos) Posted: 01 Apr 2016 11:43 AM PDT  The floor of the entire room is covered in trash, little wonder it has been called "the filthiest girls' dormitory in history." You may think its occupants can't wait to clean it out and breathe fresh air but that's not quite so. One of the young women can be heard saying in the video: "We've already shocked two roommates away with the smell. They used to sleep on the top bunks." The girls not only display a total disregard for hygiene but seem happy to live in the filth.  |

| Posted: 01 Apr 2016 09:00 AM PDT  Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has called on well-meaning Nigerians to prevail on President Mohammadu Buhari to stop his needless foreign trips, describing the president's trip to the United States of America on Wednesday for the 4th Nuclear Security Summit while Nigerians are suffering at home as "joke of the year."The governor said "it remains a mystery what President Buhari that met power generation at 6,000MW and could not manage it such that power generation crumbled to Zero Megawatt yesterday, will contribute to the Nuclear Energy Summit in America." Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said "it is shameful that while President Buhari was far away in the United States of America, attending a summit that does not have any bearing on Nigeria and its people, an unprecedented happened - power generation stopped completely for over three hours!" He said the sufferings of Nigerians deserved the attention of the president instead of junketing around the world, wasting the country's scarce foreign exchange. The governor alleged that over $50 million must have been spent on the president's frequent foreign trips, adding that Nigerians should ask President Buhari whether his trip to the United States of America to attend Nuclear Energy Summit will bring the lingering fuel scarcity being experienced in the country to an end. "Nigerians are suffering. Petrol has become so scarce that our people now sleep in petrol stations to buy fuel at N200 per litre while the president who should alleviate their sufferings is in the USA, attending a summit that he won't even understand whatever that is discussed there. "This is not acceptable. Mr President should stay at home and see to it that at least, power generation returns to 6,000MW that he met it if he cannot add to it. "Mr President should stay at home and bring this fuel scarcity that has paralysed almost all activities in the country to an end. "Nigerians are saying their president should stay at home and bring to an end the killings, raping of women and destruction of farmlands by Fulani herdsmen. "Most importantly, the President should listen more to those of us who criticise him instead of those hailing every of his wrong steps either because of what they intend to gain or for fear of persecution," the governor said. |

| Jay Z sues former owners of his music streaming service, Tidal Posted: 01 Apr 2016 08:54 AM PDT  According to reports, Jay Z filed paper work against Swedish venture capital company, Verdane claiming Aspiro and the music streaming platform WiMP, which would later become TIDAL, had far fewer than the 503k subscribers the company had claimed they had at the time of the sale. Jay Z bought Aspiro for $56 million in March 2015. Jay Z is said to be seeking about $15m, according to Norwegian media. Tidal released a statement saying: "We are excited that one year after Tidal launched, we have surpassed 3 million subscribers globally. The growth in our subscriber numbers has been even more phenomenal than we've previously shared. "It became clear after taking control of Tidal and conducting our own audit that the total number of subscribers was actually well below the 540,000 reported to us by the prior owners. As a result, we have now served legal notice to parties involved in the sale. "While we cannot share further comment during active legal proceedings, we're proud of our success and remain focused on delivering the best experience for artists and fans." Tidal's celebrity backing has helped it rapidly make a mark on the streaming industry. It recently announced it has 3 million subscribers and had delivered 250m streams of Kanye West's latest album, which launched exclusively on the service in February. Other artistes such as Beyonce, T.I, Lil Wayne, Damian Marley have recently signed up to the service. |
