| Photos/Video: 3 Nigerians who posed as tourists to rob hotel rooms in Thailand, arrested Posted: 08 Apr 2016 10:03 AM PDT   According to investigators, during the months of August and September 2015, and March 2016, managers of ten hotels around Pattaya City have reported these crimes but were unable to catch them until now. Pattaya City Police cooperating with the Tourist Police, together monitoring CCTV around the City, gathered enough evidence to make the arrest of the Nigerian criminal group. Before arrests were made, Detectives knew that Mr. Jaho Jaho Nonso was residing at a hotel behind Tuk Com in South Pattaya on March 25. When police raided his hotel room, they discovered that the criminals have all fled and thought they have gone to Bang Phli, Samut Prakan. The police rushed to that area for fear that the criminals might escape back to their country. The Nigerian gang would rent a hotel room and they climbed from their room's balcony to other guests' tooms and take their belongings. They always focused on cash. Once done, hey immediately check out from the hotel and hide in small hotels. Investigators concluded that this gang burglarized eight hotels within the seven months period. The estimated total loss from hotel thefts were about 454,800 baht. They would be prosecuted according to Thai law on charge of robbery, illegal immigration and overstaying. A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, on Thursday ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to immediately release Mr. Azibaola Robert, on bail. Justice Olasunbo who ruled on an ex parte application filed by Azibaola Robert's lawyer, Chief Chris Uche (SAN), held that the applicant's detention by the EFCC for over two weeks without being charged to court was unconstitutional. The judge further ruled that the bail granted the applicant was to subsist pending his arraignment by EFCC before any court or the hearing of his substantive suit. The terms of Justice Olasunbo Goodluk's, ruling on Azibaola's ex-parte application are that the bail should be guaranteed by two sureties and each of the sureties must be a serving or retired Director in any of the Federal Government's ministries or parastatal resident within Abuja. The applicant is also required to deposit his passport to the Chief Registrar of this court. Azibaola Robert is a prominent entrepreneur from the Niger Delta with vast business interests in the area of construction and engineering. Two of his companies, Kakatar and Oneplus Holdings were mentioned among 300 other companies and individuals spread across the country by the presidential committee probing the contracts issued by the Office of the National Security Officer during Jonathan's administration. Azibaola's brother, who had earlier expressed fears over his brother's well-being, maintain that Robert had not breached any laws and his company, Mangroovtech, which is why now Kakatar CE Limited got all its contracts through jcompetitive bidding and nothing more He then urged the EFCC to respect the laws of Nigeria and grant his brother immediate bail and release both him and the executive director of the firm or charge them to court of competent jurisdiction. He added that the constitution of Nigeria protects his brother and Mr. Dakoru Atukpa, an executive director of his company, Oneplus Holdings from arbitrary arrest and being kept incommunicado for weeks without being charged to court or granted bail. |
| Posted: 08 Apr 2016 09:54 AM PDT  The raids, which were conducted by the Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group (STING) and Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID), took place in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Johor between April 1 to April 6. NCID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff (pictured holding up one of the handbags used to hide the seized drugs) said the syndicates had all been using the same method of smuggling the drugs, which was through international courier and sea cargo services. "The shipments came from China and we believe the drugs were destined for the overseas market," he said in a press conference at Bukit Aman on Friday, April 8.He said the drugs were hidden in packages like shipments of handbags and other unsuspicious items. He added that police also arrested 14 people, aged 26 to 54, including 10 foreigners from Nigeria, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam in the raids. Comm Mohd Mokhtar said this was the latest in a series of drug busts in the first three months of the year so far. "From January 1 to April 3, we have arrested 55,049 people for drug related offences and seized RM61.43mil worth of various drugs. So before the doctors finished up in the delivery room, I told them: "I want you to burn my fallopian tubes." My fiancé, Shaffer Chimere Smith (better known as R&B artist Ne-Yo), was right by my side, holding my hand the entire time. The doctor must have asked us eight times if this was what we wanted. Each time, we both replied yes. Sterilization was something Ne-Yo and I discussed thoroughly in the months leading up to the baby's delivery. We had a daughter, Madilyn, in 2010, and two children seemed like more than enough for the both of us. Ne-Yo also agreed to undergo a vasectomy to show our mutual commitment to the relationship.   We first met in 2009 at a Jamie Foxx concert in Louisiana. He asked me out several times before I said yes — and then I fell for him fast. He had such a good heart, and that's what attracted me to him. The next year, I found out I was pregnant. It wasn't a complete surprise, as we weren't using protection, and we knew instantly that this child was a gift from God. After starting a family, I fell more in love than ever. In 2010, during a weekend in the Dominican Republic for [rapper] Fabolous' birthday, Ne-Yo asked me to marry him. We were in a suite, and he told everybody to be quiet. He pulled my hand, dropped down to one knee, and I immediately started crying. He incorporated the lyrics from his song "Make Me Better" and pulled out a 10-carat diamond ring. In 2011, I found out I was pregnant with Mason. This time, Ne-Yo wasn't there a lot. Our home base was in Atlanta, but he spent most of his time working in Los Angeles. I told him, "Our family should be in LA with you," but he was adamant that his family grow up in Atlanta. I would travel to see him sometimes, but as the pregnancy progressed I could no longer fly. But he was there for Mason's birth, and gave me a high-five in the delivery room. Immediately after, the doctor performed the sterilization procedure. I had no regrets. I was so busy caring for two young children, I just assumed Ne-Yo had followed through and had gotten the vasectomy. I trusted him so much that it never even crossed my mind that he hadn't gone through with it. But then, in June 2013 — just two months before our August wedding — Ne-Yo called. "I don't want to be monogamous anymore," he told me — in other words, he wanted to break up. A week later, we had a deep conversation face to face. I was so hurt and distraught; my parents have been together for 44 years, and I always assumed our relationship would last for the rest of our lives. The thought of him and my kids not living under the same roof was devastating. A week after our split, Ne-Yo posted the news on Instagram. It wasn't long until VH1 producers called and asked me to join the reality show "Atlanta Exes," which followed me along with other ex-wives of Hollywood stars, such as Tameka [Foster], Usher's ex. Then, in 2014, when Ne-Yo released his music video for "Money Can't Buy," I found out that he was dating the video's vixen, Crystal Renay, known for posting racy photos on Instagram. My world came crashing down all over again: I had tried to understand that he didn't want to be monogamous, but then he went and found a different woman whom he was ready to be monogamous with? It hurts to see them parade their love on social media. They recently married, on Feb. 20, and Crystal gave birth to their first son. She seems like a nice girl, but I would be worried if I were she. How does she know that he's not going to do the same thing to her that he did to me? Adding to the pain is knowing that if I find another man to love, I may not be able to start a family with him. I'm too scared to go to a doctor to find out if there's anything they can do about it. Because I do want to get married someday, and if my future husband does not have kids, I will want to have his children. Despite all of the hurt, there has been one bright spot. I've had so many women reach out to me via social media, pouring their hearts out about similar regrets. I'm glad that I've been able to counsel some of them as they navigate their own hardships. Now I look back and wonder what I was thinking. I love hard, and I made so many permanent decisions based on what I thought a man wanted from me, not what I wanted for myself. When my daughter comes of age, I will tell her: "Your body is your temple. Don't do anything to it you don't want to regret." Today, I'm finally at peace. I took awhile to get here, and I don't know if I'll ever be exactly where I want to be, but I make the choice each day to be happy, not just for me, but for my two kids. | Posted: 08 Apr 2016 09:29 AM PDT  Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has raised the alarm over President Mohammadu Buhari's scheduled trip to China to borrow $2 billion as part of the N1.84 trillion programmed to be borrowed to finance the 2016 Budget, describing the move as an attempt to mortgage the future of Nigeria and its people.The governor, who said the 2016 budget was not a reflection of the present economic reality in the country, added that; "By the time they borrow N1.84 trillion to fund their N6.06 billion budget; I wonder how Nigeria will survive in 2017 when the Federal Government will be servicing debt with about 50 percent of its budget." It has been widely reported that Nigeria wants to raise about $5 billion abroad to cover part of its 2016 budget deficit. This was said to be projected to hit N3 trillion ($15 billion) due to heavy infrastructure spending at a time when the slump in global oil prices has slashed its export revenues. In a release issued on Friday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said; "In elementary economics, you don't propose to spend more when your income reduces and I still can't understand this Buharinomics in which Nigeria is going to spend N6.06 billion with crude oil bench mark of $38 per barrel when the country budget was N4.5 trillion in 2015 when crude oil bench mark was $53 per barrel. He said since the President claimed to have recovered and still recovering trillions of Naira looted from the treasury and over N3 trillion saved from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), the 2016 budget should be funded with the recovered fund. The governor said he was alerting Nigerians of the danger in the federal government plan to fund the 2016 budget with loan, adding that; "Tomorrow, it will be said of me that I did not keep silent when Nigeria was being mortgaged to unnecessary debt. He warned that with the proposed N1.84 trillion borrowing, $2 billion of which President Buhari is already going to borrow in China, the nation may soon be going the way of Greece because Nigeria will be borrowing N5 billion per day for the next 365 days. "If your income was N200, 000 per month last year and your expenditure was N195, 000 per month; does it make any economic sense for you to propose to spend N300, 000 per month this year that your income has reduced to N120, 000? "Only President Buhari can explain to Nigerians what manner of Economic theory encourages borrowing of N1.84 trillion to fund a N6 trillion budget. As for me, it is nothing but a voodoo economic theory and Nigerians must take note that the income that should accrue to them in five years' time is about to be spent in one year by the Buhari's APC government," the governor said. |

| EFCC arrests fake "EFCC operatives" Posted: 08 Apr 2016 08:47 AM PDT  The suspects had tried to extort some money from the complainant who they told had a petition against him at the commission. They promised to give the complaint a soft landing if he co-operated and gave them some money. Suspecting a foul player, the complainant contacted the commission and he was asked to play along as the EFCC does not solicit for, nor accept payments/gratification from persons or organisations under any guise to settle matters. The commission arrested both men at the home of the complainant where they had gone to collect N100, 000 bribe meant to kill a fictitious case. They will soon be charged to court. |
