Governor Ambode visits President Buhari, commends his economic investment drive Posted: 29 Apr 2016 12:52 PM PDT Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Friday paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja, where he lauded the President's recent overseas trips aimed at attracting foreign direct investments into the country. Governor Ambode who spoke to State House Correspondents shortly after the visit expressed high optimism that the President's trips would in no short time begin to yield benefits in the interest of all Nigerians. The Governor specifically commended President Buhari for his purposeful leadership to restore the nation's place in the comity of nations, saying his recent trip to China and the profitable discussions will go a long way move Nigeria forward, including Lagos. He said the investment pact signed with the Chinese Government will benefit the people of Lagos, especially with the coming of the Lagos-Kano Rail Project and the Lagos Metro-rail project expected to cost about $2.5billion. It would be recalled that President Buhari recently returned from a one week visit to China where Nigeria signed series of investment pact expected to yield about $6 billion investment for Nigeria and also expected to have positively huge impact on key sectors of the Nigerian economy including power, solid minerals, agriculture, housing and rail transportation. He said the visit was therefore to thank President Muhammadu Buhari for his laudable plans for Nigeria and especially Lagos State. |
South African father who murdered his four children sentenced to 52 years imprisonment Posted: 29 Apr 2016 12:23 PM PDT Lesiba Kekana, who pleaded guilty to murdering his four young sons in a fit of rage has been sentenced to 52 years imprisonment by the Limpopo High Court today, Friday April 29. Handing down sentence today, Judge Joseph Raulinga said although Kekana pleaded guilty without wasting court time, and advanced "personal circumstances" the aggravating circumstances in the horror murders far outweigh these actions. "What you did is catastrophic, although you are deserving life because you have the right to life still I must meet the wishes of the community," said Raulinga. "The circumstances of the case don't at all deserve that I should have mercy." The 37-year-old man was convicted of murder of his four sons in September last year, and was also found guilty on an additional count of assault relating to an earlier attack on his wife Lorraine. Kekana killed his sons Bokang, 13, Keneilwe, 10, Hlologelo, 6, and Lekgoledi, 4, at their home in Moletlane. Kekana told the court he cut his children's throats after a bitter telephonic argument with their mother who was in Gauteng where she works. "Mr Kekana had not only killed his children in a (horrific) manner, he has hurt his wife, the community of Moletlane, the people of South Africa," said Judge Raulinga. The court said that Kekana had had ample time to heal from his claim that he was angry with his wife after he found a used condom at her house in Gauteng. Kekana claimed his wife admitted to cheating. The allegations of cheating were not tested because Kekana's wife, Lorraine, broke down at the beginning of her testimony during mitigation of sentence. She broke down after she related to the court how she could hear on the phone her husband killing the children one by one – she said she could hear their terrifying screams. "The accused should not kill the children and come to court to be lenient while he was not lenient when he was killing the children." said State prosecutor Nozizwe Molepo. Kekana's legal representative, Desmond Nonyana, told the court that they intend appealing the sentence. |

Photos: Chaos at Mile 2-Apapa Expressway today following death of a tanker driver Posted: 29 Apr 2016 09:35 AM PDT Pandemonium broke out at Ijesha bustop along the Mile 2-Apapa expressway this morning after a Petroleum Tanker driver identified as Salisu Sani, was allegedly killed by police and LASTMA officials. According to twitter user, Lanre Neville who was at the scene of the incident, eyewitnesses told him that trouble started when the deceased parked his vehicle along the road to say his prayers as a Muslim. When he was done praying, the police officers from Ijesha police station and the LASTMA officers, asked him why he had to pray on the road. An argument ensued and he was dragged from his truck. He fell to the ground and a LASTMA vehicle allegedly ran him over, killing him. The police officers and the LASTMA officials allegedly fled the scene of the incident. Area boys immediately set up burn fire and some of the tanker drivers double crossed the express road with their trucks. The Commandant of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad, ACP Olatunji Disu, arrived the scene and restored calm to the area. |
Karrine 'Superhead' Steffans brags about the time she gave Jay Z 'head' in the back of a car Posted: 29 Apr 2016 09:29 AM PDT The former video vixen and author who has dated several entertainers took to her website yesterday to share a story of when she gave Jay Z some action at the back of his car. Below is what she wrote; "Yes, I was one of Jay Z's Beckys back in the year 2000 for about three minutes, which is about as long it takes me to satisfy a man in the back of a Maybach while overlooking the beaches of Malibu. I was a 21-year-old California transplant who'd been tossed into my first music video after a fateful meeting with director Hype Williams. A single mother raising my son on my own, I jumped at the chance to make $2,500 a day to dance around and look pretty next to the artist — Jay Z. He was a long-time friend of my cousin, Chuck, and after a call from him, Jay knew to keep me close, making sure I got loads of camera time. This was the beginning of my stint as a video girl, and one day Jay and I stole away for some time alone toward the end of the day. |

Must Read for Mothers - Please should I quit my job because of my kids? Posted: 29 Apr 2016 08:56 AM PDT I am a Lagos mum, I work at a top auditing firm and I really love my job. I have built an amazing career over the past 10 years, but I worry a lot about my kids. I have a 9 year old boy and a 7 year old girl who I feel are way below their potential and my husband constantly accuses me of loving my job more than my kids, him and my home. I am losing my mind over this issue, here's how it started… When my boy was 5 years, I was very involved with teaching him and mentoring him at home and he showed traits of extraordinary brilliance. Then I got a promotion at work that needed me to travel more often and spend longer hours at the office. Over time, his performance started to deteriorate, I would talk to him, encourage him, scold him, pray for him and SPANK THE LIVING DAYLIGHT OUT OF HIM. But it didn't work and as my daughter grew I started to see the same traits of complacency and mediocrity. A few months ago I started to think maybe I should quit my 6 figure paying job to stay home and teach my kids because I have tried different schools and that also didn't work. A friend advised me to get tutors for my kids but I was worried What would the tutor do to change the situation? How would I even know the best tutor sef? What about security? Will I just call some strangers into my home HIAN!! And even if I work with the school teachers, I know that if anything were to happen at my home, the school would certainly say that what I had with the teacher was not any of their business. I spoke with a counsellor and former teacher and they said having a good home tutor for my kids would solve the problem. So I asked… How would getting a home tutor solve the problem? · Tutorshelps to tailor learning to specific children's educational needs unlike teachers who follow a curriculum or a fixed plan, the tutors teaching method revolves completely around the child's needs and learning patterns · If the kids are special needs children, tutors can better accommodate and support them much better than a teacher in a normal class can · Tutors help build independent thinking and self-confidence. · Tutors help with homework and school problems and would give me more time to focus more on other things I felt the reasons made sense but the big challenge was getting the best tutor for my kids. Then I started to get recommendations and suggestion from friends that I use Prepclass Home tutors in Lagos. I was made to know that they have the best professional home tutors in Lagos, so I did some of my own research as to Why I should choose a Prepclass tutor? · Their tutors are well trained. They receive feedback and are well monitored and supervised. · Prepclass tutors keep sessions structured, intense and very challenging which helps to really build the child · Prepclass does extensive tests and interviews on each and every one of their tutors, they also perform serious due diligence and get guarantors from tutors, moreover their involvement lasts for the entire period of the relationship and they have a wonderful customer service you can reach out to if you have any complaints you can freely call. · Prepclass tutors are trained to be passionate about the child and achieving the goals for the tutoring sessions. All these I found out from feedback I got from friends who use their services and I simply hadto fill a form here to get a tutor Prepclass is an academic solutions provider with numerous success stories from over 500 clients in Lagos.
