Jay Z and Solange reignite their cold war?

Posted: 15 Apr 2016 01:00 PM PDT

OK magazine is reporting that Jay Z and his sister in-law Solange Knowles have re-ignited their beef, almost two years after their shocking Met Gala elevator brawl

From OK Magazine

According to an insider, Jay Z is upset with Solange over her lifestyle website SaintHeron.com!
The source adds that the rapper is mainly upset over Knowles' site because he was working on a similar website idea for Bey!
"Jay's extremely annoyed that no one ran this past him and ripped into Beyoncé for not telling him," the source said. "The reason he's so upset is he was drawing up plans of his own to do a similar site for Beyoncé and was asking Gwyneth Paltrow for tips."
But the insider added that Jay Z's issues with the Saint Heron brand are only adding to Knowles' frustrations with her brother-in-law!
"Solange is outraged that he would even think he can tell her what she can and can't do," the source said. "Poor Beyoncé is caught in the middle – she actually loves the site and had no idea Jay's plans were so similar."

Low Savings: Okonjo-Iweala says she didn't indict the Jonathan administration

Posted: 15 Apr 2016 12:50 PM PDT

Former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has debunked reports attributed to her in regards to how lack of political will of Goodluck Jonathan's administration negatively affected the country's savings. Below is a statement issued on Friday by her Media Adviser, Paul Nwabuikwu:
"Some recent media reports have distorted comments made by former Finance Minister Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala regarding how lack of political will negatively impacted national savings over the past few years.
Contrary to the slant given by these loud headlines, Dr Okonjo-Iweala did not indict the Jonathan administration in which she served.
Rather, she was referring to what many Nigerians already know: the strong opposition by some governors to the Jonathan government's efforts to save in the Excess Crude Account and the Sovereign Wealth Fund sabotaged this important national priority.
The governors' criticism of Dr Okonjo-Iweala's many calls for the country to save for the rainy day are still fresh in the minds of Nigerians.
It will be recalled that this opposition culminated in the Governors taking the Jonathan government to the Supreme Court in furtherance of their position that the Federal Government had no right to "compel" them to save.
Several knowledgeable persons including former Anambra State Governor, Mr Peter Obi have confirmed these facts.
So the issue of Okonjo-Iweala indicting the Jonathan administration over this very public issue simply does not arise.
We urge the media to always consult for clarification whenever the need arises."

Chibok girls: We are all very embarrased and ashamed that over 200 girls could disappear like this- Cardinal Onaiyekan

Posted: 15 Apr 2016 12:32 PM PDT

Cardinal John Onaiyekan, Archbishop of Abuja, said the Nigerian government has to carry out negotiations sooner or later to secure the release of the Chibok girls. His remarks came in the wake of the release of a video by Boko Haram purportedly showing 15 of the kidnapped schoolgirls.

The Archbishop who spoke to Susy Hodges on the second anniversary of the kidnapping of the Chibok girls on Thursday April14, said he believes the government needs "to go beyond a military response" to Boko Haram if they want to rescue these girls and the thousands of other innocent civilians who are being held by the Islamic group.

He revealed that there is widespread embarrassment among Nigerians on this anniversary over the continuing failure to locate and rescue the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls despite a global media campaign.

"We are all very embarrassed and very ashamed that over 200 girls could disappear like this."

On the positive side, the Nigerian cardinal said he has learnt that many of the people displaced from their homes by the Boko Haram militants when they overran large swathes of territory in north eastern Nigeria a couple of years ago are now returning to their villages because of recent advances by the military against the Boko Haram. He said the Islamic militants are now largely "confined to the inner areas of the forest."

Asked about whether the government is likely to open negotiations to secure the release of the Chibok schoolgirls and the hundreds of other civilians seized by the Boko Hara militants, Cardinal Onaiyekan said he firmly believes that a military campaign is not the sole means of solving this problem.

"There have to be negotiations sooner or later. The government needs to go beyond a military response." Cardinal Onaiyekan said given the signs that many of the Boko Haram militants are now "tired" and losing their impetus and much of the territory they once controlled, they should be encouraged to hand in their arms and seek reconciliation.

Fayose hails US govt, UK Telegraph reports on Buhari's witch-hunt of opposition, calls for investigation

Posted: 15 Apr 2016 09:43 AM PDT

Read the press statement from Ekiti state governor below...
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has hailed the international community, especially the United States of America and the United Kingdom for joining lovers of democracy in Nigeria to speak out against the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of President Buhari's use of State security apparatus to oppress opposition.
He called on the British Government to investigate the allegation of the use of British foreign aid given to Nigeria to help combat Boko Haram terrorists to fund a witch-hunt against opposition politicians with a view to preventing continuous use of fund belonging to the country wrongly. Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Governor Fayose said the international community must focus attention on Nigeria under President Buhari, saying; "rights of Nigerians are now being trampled upon with impunity."

In its report, the United States Department of States, accused the Nigerian police, DSS and the military of gross abuse of power which include citizens brutality, arbitrary detention, bribery among other scandals Also, the United Kingdom based Telegraph newspaper published this week that hundreds of millions of pounds of British foreign aid given to Nigeria to help combat Boko Haram terrorists was instead being used to fund a witch-hunt against opposition politicians.

Governor Fayose, who is presently in Guangzhou, China to attend the 119th China Import and Export Fair otherwise known as the Canton Fair between April 14 and 19, said the United Kingdom Telegraph newspaper was right in its report that the Buhari's government was using British aid money to target his political opponents, particularly through anti corruption agencies ans the Department of State Services (DSS).

He said only the international community could help prevail on President Buhari to respect the rule of law and stop ruling Nigeria like a military dictator. The governor described the United States Department of States report as another vindication of his position on the Buhari-led government's abuse of the rights of Nigerians, saying; "everything I predicted about Buhari is coming to pass and the international community must assist the country to sustain democracy."

Maleek Berry returns with “On Fire” & “Kontrol”

Posted: 15 Apr 2016 09:16 AM PDT

Best known for his writing and production on anthems such as "The Matter" with Wizkid, "Baby Hello" by Wande Coal & also executive producing Wande Coal's album, Maleek Berry's new release proves he's more than two dimensional.

Having now established his reputation further after the success of his smash single "For My People" featuring UK rapper Sneakbo. Maleek Berry isn't here to play games.

He returns to the scene with not one but two exhilarating songs "On Fire" and " Kontrol", both of which was written and produced by the man himself. "On Fire" which was premiered by The Fader magazine is an interesting fusion of trap and afro-pop melodies, the use of London "twang" and hints of distinct Yoruba can be heard throughout this masterpiece.

The catchy record has an energetic hook with Berry expressing the feeling of building a buzz, moving low key and stacking "lizzy" which is a UK slang term for 50 pound notes. "On Fire" is definitely set to cause some heat in the clubs and introduce listeners to Maleek's extensive musical ear. As if that wasn't enough Maleek invites his fans to celebrate his originality and artistic expression with "Kontrol", an afropop, party starter.

The hype, melodic record exhibits Berry showing off the impact his roots have always had on his music, with sonic and melodic influences from Nigeria and Ghana, the right formula to make you dance with "Kontrol"!

There are so many health hazards that are associated with been overweight like heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and even sudden death. Your body mass index and body circumference measurement can tell if you need to lose weight or maintain your current weight

2. Has your doctor told you that your blood pressure is high or that you have an elevated blood sugar level, or that your cholesterol level is no longer good? This is your body's way of alerting you that it's time to lose some weight.

3. Do you need to sit down to take your shoes off? This may not necessarily point to the fact that you are overweight though. But if you find it difficult removing your shoes even when sitting down because of an over-sized belly, then it's time to lose weight.

Jhene Aiko's Nigerian husband walks away from her over cheating?

Posted: 15 Apr 2016 09:01 AM PDT

That is what MediaTakeOut is claiming in a new report published today. Below is what they wrote;
"MediaTakeOut.com just got some blockbuster news. Newly married couple Jhene Aiko and her husband/producer Dot Da Genius have decided to Legally separate.
Let's give you guys some background. Jhene Aiko and Dot Da Genius have been together for almost four years - and they were one of the happiest couples in the industry. Last year, the couple decided to make it official - and the two got married. It was like a REAL-LIFE LOVE STORY.
Well earlier this year, people in Jhene's team came up with the idea of doing a JOINT ALBUM with Big Sean. They decided that they would create a publicity campaign, where Jhene was supposed to be romantically involved with Sean. The idea is that the Jhene-Big Sean relationship was supposed to be fake.
At the time, MediaTakeOut.com was told, Dot Da Genius agreed to the plan but he had his reservations.
Last month, Jhene and Sean's people began rolling out the PUBLICITY SCHEME - and something happened. People close to the situation believe that something may have REALLY POPPED OFF between the two artists. One insider explains, "I know it was supposed to be a fake [relationship], but I think they were really hooking up." We're told that Jhene and Sean began traveling WITHOUT Dot Da Genius, after Jhene asked Dot to stay behind and work on music.
The STRAIN of the infidelity rumors were too much for Dot Da Genius pride. MediaTakeOut.com was told by a person close to Jhene, that the couple has now separated. The insider explained, "Jhene wants to stay married, it's [Dot Da Genius] that wants out."
We can NOT confirm whether ANYTHING is really going on between Jhene and Big Sean. But the rumors alone (which were started by the artists) were enough to have a SERIOUS IMPACT on Jhene's marriage.
It's EXTREMELY SAD to see what's happening with Jhene and Dot Da Genius. Let this be a WARNING to all these celebrities out here trying to create FAKE drama in your marriage - it ain't worth it. A marriage ain't NOTHING to be played with.

Zoo arts C.E.O & visual artist Olumide Oladipupo speaks on art, success & more

Posted: 15 Apr 2016 08:30 AM PDT

Olumide Oladipupo talks to Business Day in this exclusive interview...
When I paint I try to show people the beautiful colours of life. I always try to show my audience that life is beautiful. I believe you could look at a painting and be healed from a sickness. Just staring at a lovely landscape or garden painting can ease the mind and ultimately the body. I am simply trying to radiate positivity through my paintings."

This striking quote from Olumide Oladipupo, CEO of image zoo arts and visual artist extraordinaire gave me the chills. It actually made me realise that so many things in life are taken for granted and not much appreciation is given to the beauty God has given us as a world.

The talented visual artist who has been drawing and painting as far back as when he was in junior high school said he first painted on canvas in 2015 at an art class in Houston, Texas USA, where  he got an overwhelming reception from other artists.
"There was something about the painting that caught the attention of everyone who saw it.  I always knew I had it in me but that was the moment I realised I wanted the world to see my work," he said.
So I decided to take a step back and allow my mind to explore our beautiful world through the eyes of an artist as I had a chart with Olumide who has numerous art works displayed at different exhibitions, Facebook, Instagram, konga.com the online shopping mall and on his website www.imagezooart.ng.

Walking into his art room, which lit up with vibrant, eye catching, colourful paintings, brought to my memory the popular hymn 'all things bright and beautiful… the Lord God made them all'. Little wonder why Olumide says he gets his inspiration to draw and paint from everything around him.
"I could be watching a movie, listening to music or just looking out of my window and something tells me to get my brush and paint and after thinking about it as a finished product, I begin to see a concluded masterpiece, then I start getting excited," he said when asked where he got his inspiration to paint from.
The artist who looks up to the historic Vincent Van Gogh as his role model says
"Van Gogh's story was so touching to me and he made thousands of beautiful paintings while he was alive, he only sold one in his lifetime, but after his death, he started gaining recognition and his artworks sold at auctions for millions of pounds. I like him because he painted things around him and I find myself doing the same thing. I try to travel as much as I can and I take my camera everywhere with me so I can take pictures of inspiring sights and scenes."
As I watched Olumide speak so passionately about art, I could tell that it was in-born and that the young fellow remains hopeful to the acceptance of art in Nigeria. To him, his effortless work of art is a gift from God and nothing can take it from him. However, he acknowledged that interest and talent is not enough as he has improved enormously having learnt new techniques from the internet, art classes and painting with kids at schools.
"I don't think art work is dying in Nigeria, it has just begun with emerging artists like me and some others trying to come up the ladder. We are just getting started, there are too many talented people in Nigeria, but there aren't enough platforms to show their work. If you take it serious you will earn more than white collar jobs. I feel people should respect artists for their time and effort. I have just started my career and I have sold over 100 pieces."
"Everyone is my target audience, children, teenagers, adults, old people, black or white. I want to be able to relate with everyone. Some people don't even like art but they buy it to fill up spaces in their house, office, and hotel or to beautify their surroundings. I will keep putting my work in their faces on social Media networks, exhibitions and art lessons.
"I see my signature in thousands of houses all over the world. My goal is to showcase art to a global audience so the world can see how blessed we are as a nation," he added.
Reacting to how well Nigerian's accept and appreciate paintings; Olumide said people appreciate art and it is accepted in Nigeria but only a few people understand it. If you can get a loan from the bank with a piece of art then I think that is acceptance."

I insisted that the young, vibrant but quiet artist give words of encouragement to others who aspire to showcase their talent in drawing and painted and here is what he had to say;
"I will like other artists to keep on working hard, they should present their artworks in better ways to their audience, package them well and they will get more attention. Even if you have never sold keep on painting, you never can tell who will be interested in buying them all."
As Olumide gave me some history lessons on art, its value, the meaning and importance, I couldn't help but appreciate his God given talent and needless to say what joy it was to watch nature and life depicted through talented hands.
