Choi! Future replies Ciara's defamation lawsuit...defends calling her 'a washed up b**ch* Posted: 13 Apr 2016 01:22 PM PDT Future has responded to his baby mama Ciara's $15million defamation lawsuit by heading to court to counter sue her. And in court docs, Future said when he called Ciara a 'washed up b**ch', he wasn't defaming her, he was stating fact! Read the exclusive story from TheJasmineBrand below... On April 8th, Future headed to court and fired back at his baby mama's $15 mill lawsuit and slapped her with a counter-suit. The rapper begins by addressing Ciara's allegations of defamation– saying she waited past the statute of limitations to sue him if he did slander her name and thus he demands her claims to be thrown out. In regards to his Tweets , he says when he called her a "bitch" it meant overbearing, complaining or unpleasant — not a lewd or immoral woman. The rapper also accuses Ciara of lying about his tweet referencing the $15k child support. He says she knows that's actually what SHE is seeking and she told him she would sue him for $20k in support if he didn't pay her the $15k a month she wanted. He says none of his social media posts were false or defamatory and there was no malice involved but rather the reaction of a father who wanted to see his son more frequently and on a more reasonable basis — all of which is protected by freedom of speech. Future then goes for the jugular. He admits that both work in the entertainment industry but he says Ciara does not currently have a successful singer. He states if that statement was made several years ago it would have been accurate to state, since she had a successful career but it has been declining over the past 2-3 years. He says she does not have a "huge" fan base and is certainly not famous around the entire world and points out to her last album being a flop along with her currently not winning any awards. Future also blasts his baby mama for claiming her success helped his career — saying she had no part in his rise to the top and needs to stop living in the past. He says if she were such a great mother she wouldn't parade their son around cameras and would actually work with him to create a schedule for him to see his kid. Future slapped Ciara with a counter-suit demanding she cease making any further false statements about him, along with her being ordered to pay his legal fees for her frivolous lawsuit and also unspecified punitive damages for violating the law with her nonsense complaint. Future also wants all her claims against him to be thrown out and Ciara be awarded nothing from her $15 mill complaint. |
Super Falcons reportedly gets paltry N10k after AWCON qualification Posted: 13 Apr 2016 01:01 PM PDT The Super Falcons of Nigeria who conquered where their male counterparts failed by qualifying for the African Women's Cup of Nations tournament were reportedly paid N10,000. This is a paltry sum compared to the $4000 the Men's senior football team get for a draw and $5000 for a win. Read the report by Goal after the cut.... ''Goal learnt that the players and officials of the Super Falcons were decamped on Tuesday evening and they were handed the sum of 10,000 Naira that was meant to get them to their various destinations.'' ''The fate of the nine foreign-based players who participated in the Falcons' qualifying series is unconfirmed. Though another source hinted that they also received their return flight ticket fares.'' ''An NFF source informed Goal that the team was already aware of the organization's financial challenges and provision of transport fare with plans to pay their bonuses and allowances soon.'' ''Unlike their male counterparts, Goal understands that the women are yet to be paid bonuses since last year's Olympic qualifying campaign against Mali under former coach Edwin Okon. ''Efforts made to speak to the Super Falcons officials were unsuccessful as they declined from commenting on the matter while NFF officials are currently in an extra ordinary congress in Abuja.'' |

Nigerian Nneoma Nwankwo named Virginia Tech's undergraduate Student of the Year Posted: 13 Apr 2016 09:52 AM PDT Nneoma Nwankwo is the Virginia Tech Undergraduate Student of the Year. She will graduate in May 2016 with a degree in political science in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences Nwankwo is minoring in public and urban affairs and creative writing. She has maintained a 3.9 grade-point average while engaging in domestic and international service and research on issues facing girls and women in developing nations. "At Virginia Tech, I have been challenged to live in service to others. I have learned how to lead boldly as I pursue my global development interests. Ultimately, I have discovered that Ut Prosim (That I May Serve) is an active verb, and when I serve those around me, I create a meaningful life for myself." Nwankwo said. The Virginia Tech Undergraduate Student of the Year award recognizes a graduating student who has achieved overall excellence during his or her undergraduate career at the university. The recognition is the most prestigious non-academic undergraduate award given at Virginia Tech and is awarded to a student who has exceptional and balanced achievement in academics, leadership, and service. The recipient exemplifies the qualities and values important to a Virginia Tech education, captured in the university motto, Ut Prosim. In 2013, Nwankwo undertook an independent study supervised by Ralph Hall, assistant professor of Urban Affairs and Planning, School of Public and International Affairs in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies. She studied the negative effects of poor menstrual hygiene management (MHM) on the education and socio-economic empowerment of girls in underserved areas of sub-Saharan Africa. "Nneoma's ability to lead her own research in Nigeria and develop and deliver workshops on MHM and adolescent sexuality provide some insight into her unique set of skills and capabilities. I believe Nneoma's focus on MHM in schools is one of the most important issues facing young women in developing countries. Her future research and engagement in this area is likely to be transformative for her and for those she is able to touch."Nwankwo was awarded the Austin Michelle Cloyd Fellowship for Social Justice in 2014 for her proposal to pursue service-oriented MHM research in West Africa. "For me, it was necessary for women's voices to be heard; thus, in Nigeria, I conducted focus groups and workshops with young women. In the Republic of Niger, I participated in the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council and United Nations Women menstrual hygiene trainings, which were aimed at lobbying national policymakers to establish MHM as a top priority in water and sanitation legislation. Through these unique experiences, I found passion in working in the service of others."She presented her research findings at the Women and Gender Discussion Series organized by Virginia Tech's Office of International Research, Education, and Development. Her research has been published by Virginia Tech's Innovation for Agricultural Training and Education, and she is a guest-lecturer on MHM in postgraduate classes in Virginia Tech's programs in urban affairs and planning and women's and gender studies. "Through these avenues. I raise awareness about MHM on campus, contribute to research geared toward creating solutions in the field, and motivate students and faculty to work toward the improvement of women's rights worldwide." She said Nwankwo has held many leadership positions across campus. She served as the fundraising chair for the African Students Association and raised money for a local charity in Ethiopia. Fluent in English and Igbo and conversationally proficient in French, Yoruba, and Swahili, Nwankwo is a coach at the Virginia Tech Writing Center and was international columnist for the Collegiate Times student-run newspaper. She earned an honorable mention in the 2015 Steger Poetry Prize competition. She was recipient of the Overton R. Johnson Scholarship and the Accenture Scholarship. "I've had a ton of impactful experiences at Virginia Tech, but I think the relationships I have had with professors, particularly in the English, urban planning and political science departments, have been incredibly meaningful to me," she said.Nwankwo has accepted a full-time position at Citibank in New York City. She will continue to conduct research on MHM. The Undergraduate Student of the Year award recipient is selected by a committee of students, faculty, and administrators from across the academic colleges and the Division of Student Affairs. The division sponsors and administers the annual award, now in its 64th year. Source: Virginia Tech News |

FG writes to UK Telegraph over its controversial article about Nigeria Posted: 13 Apr 2016 09:43 AM PDT The Federal Government has written to UK Telegraph over a report published by the media house yesterday April 12th, that alleged that the Nigerian government is using aids gotten from the UK government to fight its political enemies. Read the Federal government's letter to UK Telegraph after the cut... Our attention has been drawn to a piece published in your paper, by one Con Coughlin, identified as your Defence Editor, and titled, 'Nigeria using UK aid to persecute president's political foes rather to fight Boko Haram.' The piece is not only full of factual inaccuracies, it also betrays a shocking level of ignorance of Nigeria and the country's ongoing war against terrorism. Mr Coughlin's editorial tactic is to quote unnamed "senior officials" and "Western diplomats" and "Western officials" and "political opponents" making fact-free and unfounded statements. It also appears that he sought out only those opinions which suited and reinforced his disgracefully false headline. Nowhere in the piece is there anything that suggests he attempted to contact the Nigerian government for its own side of the story. Coughlin writes that "American officials are also angry that $2.1 billion of aid given to the Nigerian military to tackle Boko Haram has not been properly accounted for." It does not occur to him that the $2.1 billion he refers to was budgeted for and wholly spent by the government that President Buhari and his party defeated in the March 2015 presidential elections, and that one of President Buhari's priorities has been investigating the misuse of those funds. It also does not appear to occur to Mr. Coughlin that the "political opponents" he is falsely accusing President Buhari of "targeting" and "persecuting" are actually on trial on account of how they spent the $2.1 billion in question. Mr. Coughlin is equally unaware of the fact that the investigating panel set up by Mr. Buhari to probe the $2.1 billion recently published a preliminary report that confirmed that much of that money was indeed looted or mis-spent by the accused persons, and that the government has started to recover the funds. Coughlin accuses President Buhari's government of attempting to cover-up the abductions of 400 women and children "abducted last year by militants from the Nigerian town of Damasak." This is absolutely untrue. The Damasak abductions he's referring to, which were recently widely reported, took place, not "last year" as he says, but in late 2014, well before Mr. Buhari was elected President of Nigeria. (And, by the way, Mr Buhari came to power on May 29, 2015, not July, as Coughlin reports). A simple search by Mr. Coughlin of his paper's archives would have revealed these facts. A simple fact-check by his copy-editors would have spared the Telegraph the embarrassment of publishing this drivel. There are several other inaccuracies and baseless statements in the piece, but Mr. Coughlin is too enamoured of his anonymous sources to realise they might be misleading him, or be as ignorant about the situation as he is. The suggestion that Boko Haram is going "from strength to strength" is an eminently laughable one; not even Nigeria's opposition party would make such an absurd claim. Since President Buhari took office, schools in Borno State, shut for more than one year under the previous government, have reopened. The same applies to the airport in Maiduguri, shut down in December 2013 after a devastating Boko Haram attack on the nearby military airbase. Thousands of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have now started returning home. Last Sunday, El-Kanemi Warriors Football Club played its first game in its home base of Maiduguri in more than two seasons. Until now they had been forced to play home games outside the region, on account of security concerns. There are several more examples of how the people of the region are finally getting a chance to rebuild their lives, as the Nigerian Armed Forces and a Multinational Joint Task Force continue their work of routing the terrorists. Mr. Coughlin not only sounds like a spokesperson for the very people whose corruption and mismanagement allowed Boko Haram to bring Nigeria to its knees – and whose disastrous legacy President Buhari has spent the last one year redeeming Nigeria from – he is also guilty of failing to observe the most basic rules of responsible journalism. Mr Coughlin needs a refresher course on responsible journalism as much as he needs a crash course on Nigeria. Until he submits himself to these, we're afraid he will continue to embarrass not only himself, but also the revered British media institution that is the Telegraph. Chris Giwa vows to take over NFF secretariat from Amaju Pinnick despite FIFA warning Posted: 13 Apr 2016 09:03 AM PDT Chris Giwa has reiterated his desire to take over leadership of the Nigerian Football Federation from Amaju Pinnick despite FIFA's warning. The World's football governing body, FIFA had through it's secretary general Markus Kattner warned the NFF to refuse any court order asking for the current president Amaju Pinnick to be replaced, saying Giwa had already taken the election case to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) and lost. But Chris Giwa says it his right to resume office and as long as Nigerian laws are concerned, they are the recognized elected body of the NFF. "That is our secretariat and we will be there. I haven't resumed there because I just came in to Abuja but we will be at the secretariat tomorrow (Wednesday)," he said to journalists. "That is our secretariat and you (the media) already saw our board members there on Friday and they all waited for me yesterday. "One of the reasons we weren't there (Glass House) yesterday was because we wanted to get the court order signed so that all relevant authorities would be served and to the glory of God we have done that, so it is our right. "I repeat it, it is our right and as long as Nigerian laws are concerned, we are the recognized elected body of the Nigeria Football Federation, so it is our right. We will be there by the grace of God," Giwa emphatically declared. The Giwa board also said all State FA board have been suspended as their elections conducted under the Amaju Pinnick board are illegal and unknown to law. "Based on the Order of the Federal High Court Jos which nullified the Warri elections, that has guaranteed the fact that all actions undertaken by the Amaju Pinnick board are illegal and unknown to law. |

We will deal with you like Boko Haram- Buhari warns pipeline vandals Posted: 13 Apr 2016 08:59 AM PDT President Buhari Wednesday warned vandals and saboteurs blowing up oil and gas installations in Nigeria to desist immediately or face the same drastic action being taken against Boko Haram by the Armed Forces. Speaking at a meeting with members of the Nigerian Community in Beijing, China, President Buhari also reaffirmed his total commitment to winning the war against corruption, saying that corruption was an arch-enemy of the nation which has destroyed the lives of many Nigerians. "I ask for your support to make our vision of stamping out corruption a reality in the shortest possible time. Whoever is caught will not be spared. The government is still being dared, but those who are sensible should have learnt a lesson. Those who are mad, let them continue in their madness. I am aware that in the last two weeks, the national grid collapsed a number of times. I hope this message will reach the vandals and saboteurs who are blowing up pipelines and installations. We will deal with them the way we dealt with Boko Haram," the President declared. President Buhari assured the Nigerian Community that the Federal Government was working very hard to overcome current national challenges and deliver on its promise of a better Nigeria. "Clearly, our vision of a diversified and inclusive economy will not be achieved overnight. It will be a long, and in some cases, painful journey. I am very confident we will get there. But we must start that journey now. We hear proposals for short cuts or quick wins. However, all we need to do is look at our history to know that there are no quick wins or short cuts in fixing Nigeria. The many decades of damage and destruction cannot be repaired overnight. The reform program we are implementing is not because oil prices are below $45 per barrel today. It is because when oil prices were over $100 per barrel, majority of Nigerians were still suffering. They were simply forgotten and left behind. So, our reforms are to ensure that the majority of Nigerians are not left behind," the President told the gathering. President Buhari also assured the Nigerian community that his administration was fulfilling its promise to improve security across the country. "When we came into office in 2015, Boko Haram insurgents occupied 14 Local Government Areas. Today, I am pleased to say the insurgents have been routed out of these local governments and their capacity to fight as a force has been significantly degraded. We will continue working hard to ensure that the group is eliminated. This is achievable. And we will not settle for anything less," he said. |

Posted: 13 Apr 2016 08:40 AM PDT US Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, has said the UK telegraph's article about 'Nigeria using UK aid to persecute president's political foes rather than fight Boko Haram" published yesterday April 12th, does not reflect the true position of the US government on the Buhari led government. The article quoted a Senior US government official as saying "This is a scandal in the making. There is no doubt the growing strength of Boko Haram is because President Buhari is far more interested in settling scores with his political opponents than concentrating his energy on defeating terrorists. The result is that Nigeria is starting to look more and more like a police state while Boko Haram just goes from strength to strength."Ambassor Entwistle spoke with the Digital Strategy & Engagement Unit (DSEU) in President Buhari's office. |

Anthony Martial's wife Samantha changes name and profile on IG following split with Man U striker Posted: 13 Apr 2016 08:20 AM PDT Reports early this week claimed the Manchester United star Anthony Martial, 20, had cheated on his wife, Samantha Martial, 19, with X-Factor star Emily Wademan 24, leading to a split between Martial and Samantha. And now Samantha has confirmed the split by posting pictures of her new 'family', changing her Instagram profile and changing her name from Samantha Martial to Samantha Helena on Instagram. Last week Samantha stopped following Britain's most expensive teenage footballer (£58million) Anthony Martial on Instagram, and he stopped following her too. On Tuesday she took a subtle swipe at him by posting a picture of her and their eight-month-old daughter Peyton by a beach - writing:
She has continued to post pictures of her and Peyton leaving Martial totally out of her social media accounts. The striker has deleted all her pictures from his Instagram page and she has deleted all his pictures too. She is currently in France with her family while Martial is in Manchester, England. Martial and Emily allegedly met at the five-star Sofitel Hotel and spent the day seeing the sights of the Champs Elysees and the Arc de Triomphe and having dinner before having sex all through the night while his wife was at his home in Cheshire, Manchester with baby Peyton. |
