Vet students pose nude in hilarious calendar shoot to raise money for animal charities

Veterinary students of Glasgow University stripped to their birthday suits for a calendar aimed at raising money for animal charities. They preserved their modesty with a number of farm props including sheep, a tractor and milk churn. Jess Simmonds who stripped for the shoot told  Deadline News:
"Taking part in the calendar was great fun.Our year is very close, but we were definitely all nervous about getting our kit off together. Once we did though, it was hilarious and everyone was comfortable. Seeing the photos afterwards was a great confidence boost." More photos after the cut.

N1.4bn Fraud: Court sentences Ex-Kogi Lawmaker to 154 years

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today, April 25th, secured the conviction of a former member of the Kogi State House of Assembly and former Caretaker Chairman, Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of the state, Gabriel Daudu, for a N1.4 billion fraud.‎

Daudu who was first arraigned in April 2010, was prosecuted by the EFCC on a 208 count charge bordering on money laundering and misappropriation of public funds.

Justice Inyang Ekwo, who presided over the case at a Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, found him guilty of 77 counts and sentenced him to 154 years imprisonment. In his ruling, the trial judge, held that the prosecution proved its case beyond every reasonable doubt, and therefore sentenced Daudu to two years on each of the 77 counts to run concurrently.

Before the conviction of Daudu, prosecuting counsel, Wahab Shittu, tendered various exhibits before the court and fielded 13 witnesses to prove the case against him. It would be recalled that in the course of the trial presided over by Justice Ekwo, had indicated that the trial might have to start afresh as the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, had asked Justice P.M. Ayuba of the Lokoja Division of the court to take over the case.

However, Shittu had pleaded with Justice Auta to review the decision. The Chief Judge, thereafter, returned the case file to Justice Ekwo, who has now found Daudu guilty of the 77 counts.

A senior editor at Bangladesh's first LGBT magazine Roopbaan and leading gay rights activist has been hacked to death in the capital Dhaka. He was killed today Monday, April 25, Dhaka Tribune reports.

Julhaz Mannan, 35, (pictured with ambassador Dan Mozena) was the founder and editor of the magazine and also worked at the US development agency USAID. 
 
The killing comes two days after a university lecturer was hacked to death by suspected Islamist militant.

According to Dhaka Tribune, armed militants disguised as courier workers entered the flat where Mannan lived and killed him along with his friend Tanay Mojumdar.
 
A security guard told the Dhaka Tribune that five to six youths got into the house claiming they had parcels for the activist. But half an hour later he heard shouting and shooting from the flat and rushed into the scene.

"The assailants then attacked me with knives," he said from Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he's being treated for injuries.

Mannan, who had been behind an annual Rainbow Rally, received a Superior Honor Award in 2014 from ambassador Dan Mozena for his contribution to the US mission in Dhaka.

Marcia Bernicat, the US ambassador to Bangladesh, condemned the killing. Speaking to the Guardian, she said:
"I am devastated by the brutal murder of Xulhaz Mannan and another young Bangladeshi. We abhor this senseless act of violence and urge the government of Bangladesh in the strongest terms to apprehend the criminals behind these murders."

Russian police chief and five family members bludgeoned to death in horrific contract killing

Police colonel Andrey Gosht, 49, his wife Svetlana, 51, his 27 year old niece Svetlana Kurilas and his sister, Elena Gosht, 42 were all bludgeoned to death in a sickening contract killing.

Another niece, Sofia, 7, is seriously wounded in the head and abdomen, and is in a coma after being flown by emergency helicopter to hospital. The bloody scene was discovered by the colonel's brother, Evgeny, 44 after returning to his parents' home in Ivashevka village, Samara region.

There are fears the police chief and his family were targeted in revenge for cracking down on a local criminal gang, although there are other theories for the hideous mass killing.

All the victims were killed with baseball bats, hammers and metal rods.

Evidence at the scene suggests the senior officer who was in bed at the time of the attack at night had futilely tried to resist.

Evgeny told of the horrific scene he witnessed.
He said: "I opened the front door and saw mud on the floor. The door into my parents' bedroom was open.
"I rushed in - my father and mother were lying there in blood.
They were killed right there, when they were sleeping. I went to the next room.
"Andrey and his wife were there.
Andrey's back was all covered in bruises, he was lying on his stomach.
"I rushed upstairs, my wife and niece were sleeping there, and my daughter too.
"My girl was all swelled from beating. It looks like they beat them with wooden bats and some metal rods.
"I rushed to the neighbour to call an ambulance and police,"
He added: "All our security cameras were smashed."

Police found a bomb when they arrived but it turned out to be a fake, a red herring planted in order to complicate investigations.

Gosht was deputy head of police in Samara, an industrial region on the Volga River.

Before that he had served as police chief of Syzran, the third largest city in Samara region.
According to a source, little Sofia is unlikely to survive and if she does, will live with disabilities.
MP Alexander Khinshtein said on TV that said the main motive is thought to be revenge by a criminal gang.

Another theory was that a dispute with local builders could be behind the killing.
The Investigative Committee - also known as the Russian FBI - has been put in charge of the murder probe.

Fashion designer Rachel Roy who has been rumoured to be the woman who caused the Solange elevator fight, became the target of Beyhives after she posted a photo of her laughing in the back of a car, with a caption, "Good hair don't care, but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always. Live in the light"
This was apparently a reference to Beyonce's new album, Lemonade which contains lyrics that seem to confirm that Jay Z cheated on her, including the track, "Sorry," in which the superstar sings about the woman her man was unfaithful with, calling her "Becky with the good hair"

Apart from the attacks, Beyhives went to Wikipedia and changed her name to Rachel Rat and Rachel Side Hoe, Rachel "Becky with the good hair" Roy with her occupation edited to read as "Wearing Knee Pads"

Man who accused ex EFCC Chief, Ibrahim Lamorde of diverting N1trn recovered assets, sentenced to 3yrs imprisonment for fraud

George Uboh, who petitioned the senate alleging that former EFCC Chairman Ibrahim Lamorde, diverted N1 trillion recovered loot from corrupt politicians, was today convicted and sentenced to three years imprisonment by Justice S. E. Aladetoyinbo of the Federal Capital Territory High Court Abuja, for his role in converting the property of the defunct Police Equipment Foundation to his own use.

A statement by EFCC's spokesperson, Wilson Uwajeren, states that Uboh was arraigned by the anti-graft agency on a three-count charge that bordered on Criminal Breach of Trust involving the sale of PEF vehicles. He allegedly abused his position as former Head of Security and Communication Department, Police Equipment Foundation, PEF, to convert the properties of the foundation to his personal use.

The charge reads: "That you, George Uboh, sometime in 2007 in Abuja, the judicial division of the high court of the Federal Capital Territory, being a servant in the employment of the Police Equipment Foundation, and in such capacity entrusted with certain property, to wit: six units of operational vehicles, did commit criminal breach of trust by selling one Toyota Hilux pick-up van through one Egbon Blessing, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 314 of the penal code That you, George Uboh, sometime in 2007 in Abuja, the judicial division of the high court of the Federal Capital Territory, being a servant in the employment of the Police Equipment Foundation, and in such capacity entrusted with certain property, to wit: six units of operational vehicles, did commit criminal breach of trust by selling one Toyota Hilux pick-up vans to Muha Motors, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 314 of the penal code.

That you, George Uboh, sometime in 2007 in Abuja, the judicial division of the high court of the Federal Capital Territory, being a servant in the employment of the Police Equipment Foundation, and in such capacity entrusted with certain property, to wit: six units of operational vehicles, did commit criminal breach of trust by selling two units of Toyota Hilux pick-up vans, and therefore committed an offence punishable under Section 314 of the penal code." He had pleaded not guilty, thus setting the stage for full trial during which the prosecution called several witnesses to prove its case.

Uboh claimed that the former National Coordinator, PEF, Kenny Martins, gave him some PEF vehicles to offset the debt owned him by the Foundation. However, during cross-examination, he admitted that he did not have any evidence of transfer of ownership of the vehicles from PEF. "I know the vehicles belong to PEF. But it was to offset the debt owed me.

The Hilux pickup vans are four and not five," Uboh said. With his conviction, today, Uboh who runs a company called Panic Alert Security System (PASS), completes a double as a certified fraudster having previously been convicted of wire fraud in the United States.

He was prosecuted after US law enforcement agents carried out a major raid on a credit card and bank fraud ring led by Uboh in Georgia in 1992. He came out of jail on January 16, 2001. Fifteen years after, he is back in jail. However, Justice Aladetoyinbo gave Uboh an option of N 4 million fine.

DELSU Best Graduating Student offered automatic employment as a lecturer in the institution

The best graduating student of Delta State University (DELSU), Ossaiugbo Ifeanyi Marcus, who graduated with the cumulative aggregate of 4.68 from the department of Mathematics and Computer Science - was offered automatic employment as a lecturer in the institution & an overseas scholarship to pursue his postgraduate program.


The Vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. Victor Peretomode, who announced this at the school's 10th convocation in Abraka, also assured him that the institution would bear the full cost of his overseas post graduate studies.

According to him, the university would, in compliance with the university's vision and mission statement, continue to provide qualitative education in terms of research and innovations, teaching and learning to its students and the society in general.

Nigerian Police arraign 2 men for stealing $14 million from church account

The Ogun State Police force has arraigned two men named Akapo Paul and Johnson Shorinnolu for allegedly stealing $14million from the accounts belonging to the West African Christian Mission in 2015.

They men aged 73 and 63 respectively are both facing charges of stealing and conspiracy and have appeared before an Ota Magistrates' Court.

According to a report by Vanguard, the Prosecutor Abdulkareem Mustapha said the accused committed the offences sometime in 2015. They allegedly conspired to steal 14 million dollars as they are both signatories to the bank account of the mission.

The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charges against them and the Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.I. Adelaja, admitted them to bail in the sum of N2 million each with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties must be residents within the court's jurisdiction, gainfully employed, swear to an affidavit of means and show evidence of tax payments to Ogun State Government. The case was then adjourned till May 20 for hearing.

Fans of relegated German club offered 'quickie' to make them feel better

Fans of German Bundesliga club, Hannover 96 are disappointed their team is heading down a division for the fifth time in their history after bagging just 22 points from 31 games and finishing rock bottom but that could be a blessing in disguise.

A local sauna has taken pity on the plight of the fans and offered them just the thing to soothe their pains. For €96, they can have a "quickie" with a hostess of their choice.



The ad posted on Facebook reads:
 "For 96 euros, all drinks, except champagne, are free and included in the entry fee is a 15-minute quickie with a female club hostess of your choice". How cool is that? After the descent comes the rise."
The event will be held at FKK Villa on May 14, the day the club play their final game away to league leaders, Bayern Munich.
There is no illegality in the whole affair as prostitution in Germany is legal, as are all aspects of the sex industry, including brothels and advertisements.

Photo: Lagos Police arrest danfo driver who specializes in stealing bridge rails

Men of the Lagos state Rapid Response Squad, RRS, today apprehended a danfo driver, Ademola Ibrahim, for stealing bridge rails on the Eko Bridge in Ijora, Lagos. Ibrahim was said to have conspired with one other suspect simply identified as Kampo to commit the crime.

The suspects had attempted to park the bridge rails into a waiting Volkswagen Paragon bus with registration number MUS 457 XK when they were apprehended. The RRS operatives were said to be acting on reliable information that some miscreants were removing bridge rails, both the ones used to guide the bridge on top and the ones used to tie the bridge under.

A massive manhunt has been launched to get the other suspect who is on the run. Ibrahim will be charged to court soon.

Carcass of baby goat that resembles a human baby handed over to Malaysian authorities (photo)

The carcass of a baby goat, said to possess unusually human-like features has been handed over to Malaysia's Veterinary Services Department.

The baby goat belonged to Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) settler Ibrahim Basir who had refused offers of money from people interested in buying the carcass. Instead, the 63-year-old decided to hand it over to the department to enable it to carry out investigation on the strange-looking kid.
Mr Ibrahim, from Felda Sungai Mas in Malaysia's state of Johor, said he was initially shocked when he found out that one of his goats had given birth to a kid that had the features of a human baby.

He said he was earlier informed by his business partner Jamaludin Abdul Samad, at around 11am last Friday that some parts of the baby goat looked like a human infant.

"When I went to check, I was quite shocked but fascinated too as its face, nose, short legs and even the condition of its soft body seemed like a human baby, but the light brown fur covering its whole body resembles that of a goat," he said yesterday, adding that despite the features, the kid did not have any umbilical cord.

Mr Ibrahim said the kid was already dead when they found it, and was believed to have been trampled by its mother or due to other complications.

"We kept the kid's carcass in a polystyrene box filled with ice cubes before taking it to the district veterinary office at around noon yesterday," he said.
