The men spent three days fearing they would never see their loved ones again as they remained stranded on Fanadik Island. They then decided to use the age-old tactic of writing 'HELP' in palm fronds and it worked. The trio were spotted by a Navy P-8 aircrew operating out of Misawa Air Base in Japan. | CBN denies media reports of Emefiele flying private jets to meetings Posted: 09 Apr 2016 11:35 AM PDT  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has, for several years in the past, used private and official chartered flights in making urgent travels to meet needs in remote, not-easily- accessible locations or in cases where timing might be critical to matters of urgent national importance. This practice was in place long before the assumption of office of the current Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele. In fact it is on record that the past two CBN Governors actively used chartered private jet services to meet urgent national assignments. Indeed, in recognition of this critical need in its smooth operations, the CBN had in the 1990s acquired a dedicated jet for this purpose and for urgent currency movement. This was however taken over by the military administration when there was a more urgent need for it at the State House. Thereafter, the CBN occasionally used the chartered services of private operators and those of the Presidential Fleet when available, both of which were paid for. However in 2015, in response to the economic downturn and the cost-cutting stance of Government, Mr. Emefiele ordered the stoppage of the use of chartered flights by the Bank. Since then, neither Mr. Emefiele nor any of the Deputy Governors has used the services of private chartered flights and the CBN has not paid a kobo for private jet services. Mr Emefiele and indeed other principal officers of the CBN have religiously maintained the modest disposition of using regular flights, including doing several trips by road to and from different parts of the country. It is also important to note here that no private jet was used by Mr. Emefiele, his immediate family, or indeed other principal officers of the Bank during the burial of Mr Emefiele's mother. FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF ANY DOUBT, IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT MR. EMEFIELE AND HIS FAMILY FLEW A COMMERCIAL ARIK FLIGHT FROM LAGOS TO BENIN FOR THEIR MOTHER'S BURIAL. Posted: 09 Apr 2016 09:49 AM PDT  The artist, Scott Marsh who painted this image of rapper Kanye West kissing another Kanye West on a building in Chippendale, in Sydney, Australia earlier in March has sold the painting to a mystery buyer for $100,000. Marsh said he put the painting on an online art store 1XRUN for $40.00 and said if West bought the painting, he'd paint over the mural. Then someone claiming to be from Kanye's management contacted him to make an offer for the painting last week.   Looks like he got paid today because he wrote that if anyone wanted to contact him, he'd be at the bar, drinking from the top shelf, lol. |

Put your middle finger on the plate and I cut it with a knife" Before her father-in-law screamed: "You freaking cow. "Get the f*** out of here." One woman, trying to cover the bride's mouth with her hand, says: "Lena, please calm yourself down." While another man urges: "Go on, kill her." The bride's father in-law looses his cool and shouts: "You damned w***e! "I spent a lot of money on this wedding and what did you do?" He starts shoving and slapping his daughter-in-law who falls to the floor. A woman's voice can then be heard saying: "Lena, are you out of your f*****g mind?" In the footage Lena is led away in tears as her in-laws try to kick her. While the immediate cause of the fight is obvious enough, the sheer size of willing participants is baffling. There could be an explanation however, where there are Russians there is Vodka and several bottles could be seen lying around. |
| President Buhari leaves for China tomorrow Posted: 09 Apr 2016 04:14 AM PDT  President Muhammadu Buhari will leave Abuja tomorrow for a working visit to China aimed at securing greater support from Beijing for the development of Nigeria's infrastructure, especially in the power, roads, railways, aviation, water supply and housing sectors. President Buhari's talks with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Peoples' Congress, Zhang Dejiang will also focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation in line with the Federal Government's agenda for the rapid diversification of the Nigerian economy, with emphasis on agriculture and solid minerals development. It is expected that in the course of the visit, several new agreements and memorandums of understanding to boost trade and economic relations between Nigeria and China will be concluded and signed. The agreements include a Framework Agreement between the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and the National Development and Reform Commission of the Peoples' Republic of China to Boost Industrial Activities and Infrastructural Development in Nigeria. Others are a Framework Agreement between the Federal Ministry of Communications and the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, and a Memorandum of Understanding between Nigeria and China on Scientific and Technological Cooperation. In keeping with his administration's prioritization of economic diversification and industrialisation to boost employment, President Buhari and his delegation will tour the Shanghai Free Trade Zone and the Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone to gain more useful insights and understanding of the policies that underpinned China's astronomical economic growth in recent years. The President, whose entourage will include some state governors as well as the Ministers of Agriculture, Water Resources, Transport, Defence, Power, Works & Housing, Industry, Trade & Investment, Federal Capital Territory, Science & Technology and Foreign Affairs, will also open a China-Nigeria Business/Investment Forum in Beijing and meet with members of the Nigerian Community in China before returning to Abuja at the weekend.
