Jay Jay Okocha, who was one of Super Sport's analyst on the Nigeria vs France match this evening said the current Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, is the best indigenous coach Nigeria has ever had, saying we need continuity and that Keshi should under no circumstances be removed as coach of the Eagles because we didn't qualify to the quarter-final round of the World Cup.

How girl, 13, was kidnapped by her dad, taken to Syria and forced to marry her cousin

An Australian girl who was kidnapped, beaten and married off to her older cousin by her father's family in Syria at the age of 13 has spoken out about her horrific five-year ordeal for the first time.

Rania Farrah (pictured above) was on what was meant to be a trip of a lifetime to Egypt to visit the pyramids with her older brother but instead ended up being turned into a child bride by her own family. Continue...
 
Appearing on Channel Nine's 60 Minutes on Sunday night, Ms Farrah revealed she planned to commit suicide if her escape plan on her 18th birthday didn't work, and said: 'I was just in a depression the whole time I was there… I just thought of Australia.'

Ms Farrah, who grew up living in Sydney's southwest and is the daughter of a Syrian Muslim and his Australian convert wife, was married off to her cousin who she had never met and endured terrible beatings after being taken to Syria's capital Damascus from Egypt.

Her mother, who had previously fled Ms Farrah's father after 20 years of violent marriage, knew about her daughter's kidnapping but told her during phone calls from that she could not afford to bring her home to Australia.

On arrival in Damascus, Ms Farrah was subjected to a virginity test because her father decided she had been under bad influences when in Year 7 at school, when she started smoking cigarettes and talking to boys.
'They wanted to check for my virginity. They said to enroll in a school they needed to check I was a virgin,' Ms Farrah explained.  

She felt 'confusion and fear' as nurses came and held her down. After the virginity test - despite the results showing she was indeed a virgin - her father and brother beat her at her Auntie's house.
'It's quite a normal thing to kill your daughter for not being a virgin,' she noted.
On Sunday, Ms Farrah described her father as 'an evil person, he's the most evil person you'll ever meet'.

Opening up to Liz Hayes about the shocking crime of forced marriage that affects hundreds of Australian women every year, she explained that she shut off her emotions and played along with her family's plan while dreaming of her escape.

Living in a strict Muslim world, she attended an Islamic school and learned Arabic. 'I did all the things they asked me to do… I was taught how to pray and fast for Ramadan,' she said.

Her second cousin, who she was forced to marry, was in his early thirties and Ms Farrah avoided 'eye contact' and never spoke to him.
'We had the engagement party, I got given the gold… I put on the face. But I didn't feel anything because by that stage I was already planning my escape.'

Ms Farrah hatched an escape plan to return to Australia on her 18th birthday and was helped by the British Embassy to return to Sydney.
A neighbour, who was around the same age as Ms Farrah, had passed her the phone number for the embassy.
 
But she had to wait until she was 18 before officials were legally allowed to help her.
When she was legally an adult, they told her a woman would wait for her at the Four Seasons hotel in Damascus. Ms Farrah crept out her house and jumped into a taxi while her grandmother was asleep after morning prayer. 

Feeling trapped and desperate, she said: 'If I didn't get out I was going to kill myself that day.'
Luckily an official was waiting for her at the hotel and gave her a 'big hug'. They then travelled to the Jordanian border with two body guards and after a tense conversation with Syrian border patrol, Ms Farrah was on her way to freedom and back to Australia.
'It was early morning when we arrived and we flew over Sydney Harbour,' Ms Farrah recalled tearfully of arriving back in her homeland.
She said her mother and family in Australia has never asked about her time in Syria or asked how she was feels to be home.

And although she is out of Syria, she is still terrified her father will track her down and has taken out a restraining order against him.

Unfortunately Ms Farrah's story is not as rare as it might seem. 

The Immigrant Women's Health Service in Fairfield, in Sydney's west, has rescued 62 child brides from Iraqi, Afghani, Pakistani, Indian, Egyptian, Turkish and Sudanese families over the past three years.

In a statement released moments ago, the Nigerian military said it has arrested Babuji Ya'ari, (pictured above), who is described as the key actor in the Chibok girls abduction. Babuji, according to the military, was a member of the Youth Vigilante Group popularly known as civilian JTF, which he used as a cover to spy on the activities of the Nigerian security forces, acting as a spy & gathering information for terrorist group. A terrorists' intelligence cell headed by a businessman who participated actively in the abduction of School Girls in Chibok has been busted by troops. The man, Babuji Ya'ari who is also a member of the Youth Vigilante Group popularly known as Civilian JTF which he uses as cover while remaining an active terrorist, also spearheaded the murder of the Emir of Gwoza.  His main role in the group is to spy and gather information for the terrorists group.
Babuji has been coordinating several deadly attacks in Maiduguri since 2011, including the daring attacks on Customs and military locations as well as the planting of IEDs in several locations in the town.
The arrest of the businessman who is known to deal in tricycles has also yielded some vital information and facilitated the arrest of other members of the terrorists' intelligence cell who are women.  One of them, Hafsat Bako had earlier escaped to Gombe State to avoid suspicion but was tracked and arrested.  Prior to her arrest, Hafsat coordinated the payment of other operatives on the payroll of the group.   In her confession, she disclosed that a minimum of N10,000 is paid to each operative depending on the enormity of his task.
Another female suspect named Haj Kaka who doubles as an armourer and a spy for the terrorists group has also been arrested.  Until their arrest, all the suspects actively operated a terrorists' intelligence cell in collaboration with others still at large.
In another development, troops deployed in Goniri, Yobe State, over the weekend, had an encounter with terrorists, resulting in casualties on both sides after the attack was successfully repelled.

France just beat Nigeria 2-0 to advance to the quarter-final stage of the 2014 World Cup! France played well, and many feel they deserved the win...but our Super Eagles did well too! Especially, goal keeper Vincent Enyeama. He's been our saviour in this tournament. Thank you!

What did you think of the match? And the own goal by Nigerian captain, Joseph Yobo? I think he played well. I also think Enyeama deserves African Footballer of the Year 2014. What do you think?

Divorce rumours have been following rapper T.I and his wife Tiny for many months now after they subtly attacked each other on their social media accounts. There was even a report that their problems started after Tiny found out T.I had a baby with another woman, a claim T.I has since denied. Then there's the famous show down with Floyd Mayweather in Vegas. Anyway, the couple put the divorce rumours to rest after they were photographed sitting together at the BET Awards that held on Sunday night. They were also spotted together at T.I.'s BET pre-show mansion party...

President Jonathan condemn attacks on churches near Chibok...

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has received with dismay and consternation reports of yesterday's attacks by Boko Haram on churches in  villages near Chibok, Borno State.

The President deplores the renewed targeting by Boko Haram of adherents of a particular religion and urges all lovers of peace and unity to wholly condemn the resurgence of efforts by agents of global terrorism to disunite and destabilize Nigeria by callously instigating violence among religious groups in the country.

President Jonathan shares the view of the most learned Islamic leaders and scholars that no true Muslim will resort to the mindless killing of innocent people at any time, especially not during the holy month of Ramadan, to redress any perceived grievance.

The President believes, therefore, that Sunday's attacks on churches and other similar atrocities by Boko Haram are conclusive proof, if any is still needed, that its leaders and members are  thoroughly misguided persons who are only using religion as a cover for their reprehensible crimes against their countrymen and women.

President Jonathan urges all Nigerians, irrespective of their religious beliefs, to resist this new attempt to undermine the nation's firm and collective resolve to unite in full support of its armed forces and security agencies against the vicious perpetrators of brutal attacks on innocent citizens.

The President assures all Nigerians once again that the Federal Government and national security agencies will continue to intensify ongoing efforts to end Boko Haram's senseless attacks until the terrorists are routed and totally defeated.  

He commiserates with the families and churches that lost loved ones, members and places of worship during Sunday's attacks.

48 people have been confirmed dead while 5 churches including Cocin, EYN and Deeper Life Bible church were destroyed after Boko Haram men yesterday June 29th launched a four hour attack on Kwada, Karagau and Kautikari villages in Chibok, Borno state. The attack came two weeks after the sect men had written a letter to the Chibok community saying they should expect another attack from them. True to their word, they carried out their threat yesterday.
 
According to residents of the villages, the gunmen arrived in pickup vans and motorcycles and immediately went into worship centers where they shot indiscriminately at people conducting their Sunday worship service. They also pursued and killed those who tried running into the bushes. Continue..
 
Amos Bulus, a resident of one of the villages who spoke to Vanguard said;
"The attackers killed and burnt houses after attacking worshipers in five churches in Kwada, before moving to Kautikari less than 8 kilometres to Chibok town, killing and burning down people's houses and property. The security operatives were not on ground to defend us. In fact, those who ran into the bush were pursued and killed by the murderers." he said
Another resident, Peter Maina said he was called out from a Church service in Maiduguri, only to be informed that his brother was killed at Kwada when the insurgents attacked the village during church service.
 
Confirming the attack, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District said more efforts should be put in place by the Federal Government in fighting the insurgents
"The military and other security agencies should do more by not only deploying more personnel, but cooperating fully with members of the Local Vigilante Group in fighting terrorism and insurgency in this part of the state. They know the terrains of Sambisa Forest and can track insurgents in their hideouts. The two should work as a team to end this Boko Haram insurgency that will clock five years by July 29, 2014", Ndume said.

Many weeks after his trial was put on hold so he can get psychiatric evaluation to determine if he was
mentally ill when he shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, in his home in February 2013, a report has been released. A panel of mental health experts has concluded that Oscar Pistorius was not suffering from mental illness when he killed Reeva, the chief prosecutor at his murder trial said today.

The mental experts, a psychologist and 3 psychiatrists all agreed that Oscar understood the gravity of his act when he shot Reeva through a closed toilet door. The request for evaluation came after his defence team brought a psychiatrist who testified that Oscar had an anxiety disorder, because of his disability, that could have contributed to the shooting. His trial resumed today after a 1-month break.

Mike Adenuga gives Super Eagles $250,000 to defeat France

The Minister for Sports and Chairman, National Sports Commission (NSC) Dr. Tammy Danagogo over the weekend revealed that billionaire businessman Otunba Mike Adenuga gave him $250,000 to give to the Super Eagles in Brazil to encourage them to beat France today, promising to do more if they win and advance to the quarter-final stage.

According to Danagogo, who has since presented the money to the team, Mike Adenuga, while presenting the money to him said;
"This is a token and if the team goes ahead and shock the world, I will join Mr President to shock the team."
Shock them? Imagine the kind of money that can shock a millionaire footballer. Lol. Choi! Super Eagles, oya o...make una win o! The match will take place 5pm today!

While speaking on Channels TV's breakfast show, Sunrise Daily, this morning June 30th, former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, who recently dumped the APC for PDP, said the founder of terrorist group, Boko Haram, is an indigene of Borno state and is also a key official of the opposition. He also said Boko Haram is the armed wing of the opposition. Some of what he said below...
"It is very clear that the founder of Boko Haram, the person that actually founded Boko Haram when he was in office...and I won't mention his name on Television but everybody knows who it is, is from Borno state. He is alive and well. He is a key member of the opposition. Again I look at the utterances of the official spokesman of the opposition last year, that is Lai Mohammed, where he protested at the fact that Boko Haram was proscribed by the federal government where he said it was unconstitutional for the federal government to do so. He needs to explain why it is he would want to protect and support an organization that has killed almost 15,000 Nigerians as at that time and is against the fact that they were being proscribed to protect Nigerians.
"If you compare what's happening in Nigeria to what happened in Ireland some years ago, you had Sinn Fein on the one hand and then you had the IRA on the other. The IRA was the armed wing of Sinn Fein and as far as I'm concerned, Boko Haram could well be described as the armed wing of the opposition, today."

After their Miami show, there were a few reports that suggested Beyonce was acting cold towards Jay Z and brushing off his advances on stage, but I don't think anybody will say that about their second show of the 'On The Run' tour which held on Saturday night in Cincinnati.

The very private power couple showed off some PDA on stage, with Beyonce at one time backing her butt up to Jay Z and Jay Z whispering something naughty into Beyonce's ears that made her blush. Over the weekend, former Zamfara State governor Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi, who is planning to contest again as Governor of the state in 2015, shared bags of rice to his people for Ramadan, making sure to let them know that he's contesting again.

Shinkafi was governor of Zamfara State in 2007 to 2011 and was Aisha Babaginda's second husband.
