Photos: Cultists destroy over 20 cars in Bariga, Lagos

Some young men believed to be members of a cult group went on a rampage around 10pm yesterday in the Bariga area of Lagos, destroying many cars. The mayhem started from Ore-efero street and spread to other streets in Bariga. The people who live in the area say the guys started quarreling and it escalated into a full blown street war with cars parked on the road taking the biggest brunt of their anger.

When residents called the police in Somolu, the police there allegedly said the area is not their coverage. See more photos after the cut...

GEJ nominates former Kano state Governor & 3 others as ministers

President Jonathan this morning nominated four new ministers into his cabinet and has sent their names to the National Assembly for confirmation. Among the four people nominated for appointment are former Kano state Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau who only recently left the APC and joined the PDP. Also nominated is the South-South Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Mr Stephen Orlu from Delta state. Others nominated are Abdul Bulama from Yobe state and Adedayo Adeyeye from Ekiti state.

They would be screened by the Senate at a later date.

Wendy Williams blasts Rihanna's racy CFMA outfit, says she's not a fashion icon

Y'all know Wendy Williams tells it as it is and speaks her mind regardless of whose ox is gored. On her show yesterday, the talk show host went in on Rihanna, saying the sheer dress Rihanna wore to Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards was inappropriate and RiRi is not a fashion icon.
"She's got a really terrific body and she's a really beautiful girl, but as far as I'm concerned, she's totally inappropriate for walking out the house with this outfit on.
"This is the kind of outfit…that when you invite all of your friends over and you're hosting your down low sex party…then you wear this outfit. And you smoke your blunts out of a cigarette holder and you walk around like you own the joint. But you don't walk out of the house like this. Since when is public nudity ok?"
Rihanna is a risk taker. I don't really consider her a fashion icon. I consider her a risk taker and it's nothing wrong with that. I think that Jennifer Lopez is a fashion icon. Jennifer Lopez shows you just enough to leave you wanting more, which is what a lady does. And I think Sarah Jessica Parker is a fashion icon."

EFCC arraigns Omokoh Jesse, the guy who scammed Australian grandma

Omokoh Orowo Jesse, the Nigerian guy who was arrested for allegedly scamming 67year old Australian grandmother, Jette Jacobs of $90,000, who was later found dead in her hotel in South Africa, was today June 4th arraigned before an Oyo State High Court, Ibadan, on a 9-count charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretense.

Jette, who had met Jesse on an online dating site, was found dead in her hotel room in February 2013 five days after meeting with Jesse. Jesse disappeared after her death but was caught almost a year after in Lagos in a raid (Read here). Jesse is currently not being held for her death. Continue...



Count one of the charge against Jesse reads: "Omokoh Orowo Jesse, Ifeanyi Oro (still at large), Emojewe (still at large) and David (still at large) sometime in 2012 at Ibadan within the Ibadan Judicial Division with intent to defraud conspired to obtain the sum of $70,000 from one Jette Jacobs, a 67-year-old Australian woman under the false pretense that the money represents payment for marriage engagement processes between you and her in Nigeria and which pretense you knew was false".
  
Jesse pleaded not guilty to all nine charges read against him. The judge declined bail and Jesse was remanded at the Agodi Prison until July 10 2014 for the next hearing.

Press statement: Husband calls for prayers for Kefee who's in coma

Kefee's husband, Teddy Don-Momoh, has called on friends, well-wishers and Nigerians as a whole to join him in prayers for the life of his wife.
Teddy made the plea from the U.S. where his wife is still under intensive care at the hospital.
``Kefee wants her friends, fans and well-wishers to know that she loves them. We just need prayers now; she just needs our prayers now because there is nothing God cannot do; prayer is the key. God is still the same yesterday, today and forever, He has done it before and he will do it again,'' he said.
Kefee collapsed on a Chicago-bound flight some days back which forced the plane to make an emergency landing in Los Angeles so she could receive medical attention. Continue

Teddy said that he couldn't really give a full account of the situation and cause of the collapse as he just got to the U.S. on Saturday to be with his wife and she has been in intensive care since then.

Kefee and Teddy recently obtained diplomas in filmmaking from the U.S. and had started off on some projects together. One was the shoot of her music video which was directed by Teddy.
She also recently released a single titled, 'Dem Go Talk', before all this happened.

Teddy pleads that the privacy of the family be respected as much as possible while we all take this situation to God in prayers.

Two 12yr old girls stab classmate 19 times to prove 'Slender Man' myth was real

Two 12 year old girls, Anissa Weier (pictured left) and Morgan Geyser (pictured right) lured their classmate, another 12 year old, into the woods last Saturday after a sleepover, where they stabbed the girl 19 times hoping to kill her so they could join the cult of the 'Slender Man' after reading about him on the internet. Thing is; 'Slender Man doesn't exist. It's a mythological horror creature that was created by a website in 2009. The gholish child killer has since become a viral sensation.

But the little girls believed so much in it they planned their friends murder for months. Fortunately the girl didn't die but Morgan and Anissa are being tried as adults and face 65 years in prison. Read the full story after the cut...

Two 12-year-old girls who are accused of viciously stabbing a classmate 19 times have been identified for the first time publicly since telling police that they plotted for months to commit murder.

Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier face attempted murder charges after attacking their friend, saying that they did so because they wanted to join the cult of the 'Slender Man' after reading about him online.

The girls told investigators they believed the Slender Man was real and they wanted to prove it by slaughtering their friend after inviting her for a sleepover in the Milwaukee suburb of Waukesha, Wisconsin. 

The two suspects the knife back and forth between them before one girl held the victim down and the other stabbed her 19 times. It is not clear which one held the victim down and which had the knife.

One girl told detectives she regretted it and the other said she was sorry.

Geyser and Weier told police they read about the fictional character on a website known as Creepypasta Wiki, where scary stories are submitted by users. One of the suspects is understood to have told police a user must kill someone in order to climb into the Slender Man's realm. 

When the victim escaped in the midst of the assault, her assailants grabbed her and pulled her into the woods and told her to lay down and be quiet, hoping she would bleed out and die, according to court documents.

She eventually crawled out of the woods, covered in blood after being stabbed in the legs, arms and torso. A passing cyclist saw her and called police. The girl was taken to the hospital and is expected to live, despite being stabbed a dozen and a half times.
Surgeons say she was a 'millimeter from death' - one of the stab wounds nearly sliced open a major artery. 

'It was weird that I didn't feel remorse,' one of the girls told detectives.
'The bad part of me wanted her to die, the good part of me wanted her to live,' the other girl said.
Both girls are charged as adults with attempted pre-meditated murder. If convicted, they face 65 years in prison and are being held on $500,000 bail each.

The criminal complaint spells out how the Geyser and Weier initially planned to put duct tape over their friend's mouth while she was sleeping and then stab her in the neck as she lay in bed, but then they thought that a bathroom would be a better scene for the crime because it would be easier to clean up after, according to CNN. 

They opted against both of those theories, however, and chose to go for the attack during a game of hide and seek at a nearby park.

As they left for the park ... (the victim) was walking in front of them and Geyser lifted up the left side of her white jacket and displayed the knife tucked in her waistband. Weier stated she gave Geyser a look with wide eyes and, when asked what that meant Weier stated, "I thought, dear god, this was really happening,"' the report states. 

The girls were found walking near an interstate highway shortly after their victim was rescued. They had a backpack full of snacks and a five-inch knife. 

They decided to put it off, but the next day, during a hide-and-seek game in a wooded park, they attacked their friend with a knife. One girl told the other to 'go ballistic, go crazy,' according to the complaint.

The victim began to scream that she hated them and started stumbling away, one of the girls told police.

The girls left the victim lying in the woods. She crawled to a road where a bicyclist found her lying on the sidewalk. Police arrived and she gave them the name of one of the girls who attacked her.
She was rushed into surgery, police said.

One of the girl's attorneys, Donna Kuchler, asked Pieper to remove reporters from the courtroom because she planned to attempt to get her client waived into juvenile court. Pieper refused. Kuchler escorted the girl's family out of the courtroom, telling reporters only that the family was horrified at what happened.
The other girl's attorney, Joseph Smith Jr., led her family out of court. He declined to comment.

Both girls are due back in court on June 11 for a status conference.

Women in trousers barred from passing MFM camp ground

If you're a woman and you're wearing trousers, do not attempt to pass through The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Camp Ground in Magboro, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State. 

According to Punch the church has started a 'strict enforcement' of its law against women putting on trousers and passing through the camp ground this week.
Some women, who were on their way to the Ecobank in the Prayer City on Monday recounted their experiences in the hands of the security men at the main gate of the camp.
They wondered why the church must "embarrass" women, who were on their way to a "bank and not the church auditorium. One of them, who spoke to a Punch correspondent on condition of anonymity on Monday, said, "See the loose trousers that I'm putting on. How does this offend anybody? You can imagine the embarrassment that I was subjected to at the gate on my way here (bank).
"They asked why I must wear trousers to this place, as if I said I was going to the church auditorium. At least, they should have waited till I want to enter the church."
When contacted, the Security Head of the church, who gave his name only as Mr. Lanre, told Punch that the road in question was not an access route for the public, adding that security challenges informed the barricade.

"The so-called access road is illegal. It is part of the church property. If we decided to block it, I don't think that is business of anybody. Can you claim what does not belong to you? They (communities) even went ahead to stage an informal protest. Attacks on public places in the country have made it mandatory for organisations to beef up their security.

"We are not under compulsion to share our property with the communities. Regarding your question on the social benefits the neighbouring residents derive from the church, I can't comment on that. But there are records of what we have done for them," he said.

Commenting on the women on trousers, Lanre said the dress was inconsistent with the doctrine of the church.
He said, "Such women will be barred from taking the road on the camp that links to the expressway."

In Port Harcourt, Teeyor Bariyima from St Patrick's model school came first in the Essay competition and Onwuagana Ifunanya from Julia Gee Cornerstone School emerged the winner at the Essay competition in Enugu. 



The Children's day fair also served as an educative forum as Mr. Praise Fowowe, the principal consultant for the center for sex education and family life, was on ground to teach the kids how to identify any form of sexual abuse, say "No" and to report any incidence to their parents and teachers.

Speaking at the event, Miss Vivian Ihaza, the Category Manager, Tea and Spreads, stated that Unilever has successfully partnered with Children of Africa over the years on many initiatives including the annual children's day celebration events.

Husband confirms Kefee is in a coma in US hospital, asks for prayers

I'm sure you all may have heard by now that Branama queen Kefee collapsed on a flight to Chicago after a performance and has been in a coma since then. I held on to the story because I wanted to get confirmation and now I have. Kefee's publicist has confirmed that she's indeed in a coma in a hospital under intensive care and will send out a press statement later. Meanwhile, her husband, Teddy Don-Momoh has asked people to please pray for her.

Kefee was reported to have collapsed on a Chicago-bound flight last week which forced the plane to make an emergency landing in Los Angeles so she could receive medical attention. Teddy flew to the US last Saturday to be with his wife. Please say a prayer for Kefee.

I know Simi will hate me for this...but darling, it's my job...I have to do this...*wink*. So here's what happened. Dr Sid's fiancee, Simi Osomo held a bachelorette party this past weekend in Las Vegas. I shared the photos here. And some of you observed that there were no others at the party...well, I just found out that it's because all the people she invited to the party didn't show up.

Simi is furious at her friends for standing her up and have disinvited all of them from her wedding to Dr Sid. She sent out an email yesterday asking all the friends she invited to Vegas who didn't show up, not to bother attending her wedding.
"Yes, she invited a few close female pals but she wasn't paying for accommodation or flight and most of them didn't think it was worth it. It was a bachelorrette party, not a wedding and Vegas is an expensive place to visit if you didn't plan for it" a close source said

EFCC arraigns House of Rep member over dud cheques worth N125m

A member of Nigeria's House of Representative, Hon Aliyu Gebi representing Bauchi Federal Constituency was today arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abuja on a 13-count charge of issuing dud cheques worth over 125 million Naira to one Usman Mustapha, Sahara Reporters reports.

According to papers filed by the EFCC, one of the charges against Gebi read "That you, Hon. Aliyu Gebi, being the owner and sole signatory of Craft Technology Ltd and Craft Technology Ltd on or about the 12/01/2012 at Abuja Judicial Division of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory did obtain credit by issuing a UBA Plc cheque No. 00091852 in the sum of N10,000.000.00 (Ten Million naira) only in favour of Musty Petroleum Ltd. which when presented within three months was dishonored on the ground that there was insufficient fund in the account and thereby committed an offense punishable under section 1 (b) (I)  of the dishonored cheque ( offences) Act, 2004 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria."
Hon. Gebi pleaded not guilty to the charges read against him. He pleaded through his defence council that he be admitted on bail. The presiding judge, Justice Abba Mohammed granted him bail on self-recognition and ordered that he tenders his traveling passport with the EFFCC and report to their office whenever he was called upon.

Cecilia Ibru moves to recover forfeited properties

A suit filed by Mrs Cecilia Ibru, the former Managing Director of defunct Oceanic Bank asking the court to help her retrieve all her properties seized by the federal government has been objected to by the The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).

Mrs Ibru, who was convicted in October 2010 by a federal high court after a plea bargain, forfeited assets worth N191billion comprising 94 properties across the world, including the US, Dubai and Nigeria to AMCON. She was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment after her conviction.

Mrs Ibru who sued for herself, Ibru Group and three others asked the court to stop the Attorney-General of the Federation and AMCOM from further implementation of the terms and conditions of the plea bargain before her conviction.
