Comedian Daniel 'D' Humorous declares support for Dakuku Peterside as next Rivers governor

Posted: 20 Jan 2015 01:09 PM PST

Sponsored post.
As we draw near to the 2015 general elections, it is imperative for us to understand that these elections shouldn't be taken lightly because the people we elect in the various legislative and executive offices in our land play a major role in deciding the fate of our destinies as a people particularly in my home state Rivers State.

All the political parties have showcased their gubernatorial candidates for the February 28th election and campaigns are in full swing.

Whilst we listen to these governorship hopefuls marshal out their intentions if given the opportuinity to steer the ship of state, I do passionately ask my dear brothers and sisters in Rivers State to look out for those candidates who intend to drive our sub economy such that we can do our businesses and prosper to the point where we become not just wealth creators but wealth replicators

Having listened to the various candidates and studied their manifestoes for the few who care to prepare one.

I do take special note of Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside of the APC whose intended administration is centred around public sector accountability & security of lives and property ,employment generation and wealth creation, social and human capital development, institutional/physical infrastructure development and food security.

Dr. Peterside has identified key sectors of priority where public and private sector investment will be robustly driven ,amongst these key sectors, the Arts and Entertainment Industry is given due mention as well as Sports,Tourism,Hospitality and Culture.

It is indeed a thing of joy to see a governorship hopeful who is profoundly interested in developing the sub-economy of Rivers State and has a deep understanding of how robust the arts and entertainment industry in this State can grow to be if given the right push and priority attention
I therefore do humbly call on my colleagues in the Arts and Entertainment world who reside in Rivers State as well as their families and friends a number of whom have us to depend on, to please support the candidature of Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside of the APC towards victory at the polls come february 28th,2015.

A vote for Dakuku Peterside is a vote for the Development and Growth of our Homegrown Entertainment Industry as well as the economy of Rivers State.

Jennifer Lopez and her nipples cover Complex magazine

Posted: 20 Jan 2015 12:22 PM PST

Jennifer is sexy in a white body suit for the new cover of Complex magazine. Continue read her interview..

The setting, her home...after dinner....in mommy mode:
Our interview takes place after dinner, in a book-lined office/study neatly crammed with all types of J.Lo memorabilia-but not before Lopez reminds her kids, twins Emme and Max, that they have school tomorrow, and have to be in bed by 8 p.m. When she finally enters, Jennifer is barefoot and looking super comfortable in ready-for-bed wear. Yes, the icon wears regular pajamas, and she looks great. Speaking with the aura of a seasoned self-help guru, she reveals how she got to this happy place.
On fairytales about relationships that little girls are taught:
Yeah, well, that's what we're taught when we're little. Little girls are taught that especially. Prince Charming is gonna come along. You're going to live happily ever after, and then that doesn't happen. You have your first boyfriend in high school and that falls apart and you're like, "What's going on?" [Laughs.] All of these things get shattered one by one. It's so unfair. Nobody teaches us the important thing from when we're young, which is to value yourself and love yourself, and then you can share happiness and love with other people. That's what we should be teaching kids, not fairy tales about Prince Charming rescuing you. Or that you have to be Prince Charming and rescue this girl. It's funny, we're formed from the time we're 0 to 7. We're battling the rest of our lives trying to figure that out. And now that I have my own kids, I think about that stuff a lot, like, what do I want to teach them? I want them to have fantasies and the fairy tales and all that, but at the same time I want them to know what is important, which is to have a great sense of self and to be good on their own.
On whether relationships between older women and younger men can work:
Is it possible for relationships to work when the guy is older than the girl? [Yes.] Well, then I would say yes. [Laughs.] What would be different?
On celebrity hacking being a trade off for fame/fortune:
[Laughs.] Oh! When you become rich and famous, you don't have feelings anymore?! That's what it is. OK! C'mon. It's not about having money in the bank. You can have all the money in the world and it doesn't mean you're a happy person. Money doesn't solve problems. It makes some things easier but it just gives you a different set of problems. Everything has a trade-off in this world. I've learned that from being broke as hell and having money.
On beautiful women who are insecure
It's not just beautiful women. It's all women. And it's all men, too. It's everyone. People are more surprised when they hear that somebody who is attractive is insecure. I don't understand that because, again, we're all human. Nobody looks in the mirror and goes, "That person is so perfect!" It's just the nature of a human being that they have insecurities. You try to do things that you're proud of to boost up your self-esteem and your integrity. At the end of the day, you're the only person who can give that to you. That's something that everybody struggles with at one time or another. I'm no different than anybody else in that sense.
On the endless rumors that have followed her through a 20 year career
The rumors at that time were so endless. I still haven't figured that all out completely. I've thought sometimes, "Was it because I was a woman? Was it because I was a minority?" [Laughs.] I was like, "Why me? Why are they picking on me so much? What have I done?" It's funny. Men get praise when they are successful, like, "Look how great he's doing." Women get criticized for some reason. I don't understand it. All I know is that because I've stuck around for so long people realize, "Oh, that must not be true." [Laughs.] "We finally got to know the real her."
On concerns about daughter Emme and the plastic surgery phenomenon
Yeah, what is she gonna want to do, or how good is she gonna feel about herself? I hope to show her from example that you have to love yourself for who you are. And that doesn't mean that you can't do things to enhance yourself, like work out, or if somebody wants to get a nose job. I don't know. You can take a hard stance on things and then eat your words later. All I'm saying is, at the end of the day, you got to feel happy about who you are inside, and then you can make good choices for yourself.
On critics of her "Booty" video being too sexy for a mother to take part in
I'm not allowed to be sexy because I'm a mom? It's like, How do you think I got my children? [Laughs.] The truth is I don't want to do anything that they would be embarrassed of in the long run. But at the end of the day, they care more about me being there, taking care of them, than if I'm sexy in a video. And I'm not saying that one day they may not be like, "Mom! Why did you do that?!" [Laughs.] But I don't think that in 10 years I'm going to be doing that either. Again, it's about what feels good to me in this moment. It felt right. It's a good message for women. I'm standing next to this girl who is 24 years old and I'm in my 40s and there's no difference. Women need to see that and feel that. You can't let the fear of what people might say or think stop you from doing what you want to do or else we would never do anything.

Buhari advertorial: Fayose's opinion not PDP's or Pres Jonathan's - FFK says

Posted: 20 Jan 2015 11:59 AM PST

PDP presidential campaign organization spokesperson, Femi Fani Kayode says the sensational advertorial by Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose on APC's presidential candidate, Buhari yesterday January 19th was solely his opinion and not a representation of the PDP or President Jonathan. Fani Kayode stated this while speaking to newsmen in Abuja today January 20th...
"Governor Ayo Fayose is a distinguished leader of our party. A democratically-elected governor and someone we have immense respect and affection for, but he released this advert in his own name. That represents his own personal opinion, which he is entitled to. What I can tell you on our part, as the presidential campaign organisation, is that it does not represent the opinion of the campaign organisation or indeed that of the president.
It is his opinion, which he is entitled to, and he is somebody that we have immense respect for; he is a leading member of the party. I have spoken with him and we respect him, but for anybody to suggest that this is the position of the presidential campaign organisation or President Goodluck Jonathan, that will be most unfair.
If we wanted to say something like that, we will say it without any kind of apology but of course we will never say that because we believe in the sanctity of life. Age is not a function of how long you will live. It is important that we recognize the fact that age is not an indication of how long somebody will live.
We believe strongly that we must continue to show immense respect for the person of Gen. Buhari in terms of his person and his health, though we believe it is important to always raise questions about facts; you know what these questions are and we will continue to raise them." he said

Buhari certificate: Those seeking to destroy BUhari may end up destroying the military, APC warns

Posted: 20 Jan 2015 11:12 AM PST

The APC has reacted to the statement the military released today about Buhari's certificate.See below
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned that those who are bent on destroying its Presidential Candidate, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, on the basis of his certificates may end up destroying the country's military.
In a statement issued in Lagos on Tuesday by its National Publicity Sec. Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party warned that the PDP and the Jonathan Administration are playing a dangerous game by trying to compromise the military in order to satisfy selfish political objectives, and urged the military, as a symbol of national unity, to beware of those who may be seeking to use it to achieve selfish and divise ends.

It said the statement credited to the Nigerian Army Director, Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen. Olajide Olaleye, at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, that the Army is not in possession of Gen. Buhari's certificates, is in direct conflict with what he said on Jan. 4th 2015 on the same issue.

''In an interview with the Punch on Jan. 4th 2015, Brig.-Gen. Olaleye said: 'Every serving and retired Army officer has at least a copy of his certficates and credentials kept in the Nigerian Army while that same serving and retired officer has copies of those same certificates and credentials'.

''Is Brig.-Gen. Olaleye now saying that he did not make that statement? If he did, what has happened between then and now to make him to recant? It will be interesting to know what has transpired between then and now,'' APC said.

But more worrisome, the party said, is the statement credited to Brig.-Gen. Olaleye that there was no evidence that the certificates of all those who joined the army in the early 1960s were verified by the selection board.

''Is he now saying that all those who were commissioned into the officer cadres in the 1960s did not have their certificates verified? Does this not confirm what we said that in trying to destroy Gen. Buhari, the PDP and the Jonathan Administration will end up destroying the army as an institution? Or is it only Gen. Buhari that was commissioned into the army in the 1960s,'' it said.

The party also quoted Gen. Buhari as saying in an affidavit on 24/11/2014 that ''All my academic qualifications documents as filled in my presidential form, President APC/001/2015 are currently with the Secretary Military Board as at the time of this affidavit.''

''Those who are behind the latest controversy should now tell Nigerians what happened to Gen. Buhari's certificates between the time of his affidavit and now,'' it said.
APC said in any case, even if the Army now says it does not have the  certificates of Gen. Buhari, he is still very qualified to run for the country's highest office, as stipulated by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The party quoted Section 131 (d) of the Constitution: ''A person shall be qualified for election to the office of President if he has been educated up to at least School Certificate level or its equivalent''

APC said the meaning and interpretation of ''School Certificate level or its equivalent can be found in the Constitution under part IV, Section 318. In that Section, a ''School Certificate or ot equivalent'' is defined quite succinctly thus:

(a) A Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent, Grade II Teacher's Certificate, the City and Guilds Certificate; or
(b) Education up to Secondary School Certificate Level; or
(c) Primary Six School Leaving Certificate or its equivalent.
The party said since Brig.-Gen. Olaleye has now confirmed that Gen. Buhari indeed applied to join the Army from form six, that the principal of the school he attended even attested to his suitability, and that the form he filled contained his Secondary School Certificate results, there is no scintilla of doubt about his qualification to run for president as stipulated by the Constitution.
''However, we know that the PDP and the Jonathan Administration have constituted themselves into a court of law and will like nothing more than the disqualification of our candidate so they will face no challenge in next month's election. This is wishful thinking,'' it said.

APC said the PDP and the Jonathan Administration should expend their energy on how to revive their floundering campaign instead of seeking the disqualification of its (APC) candidate.
On the contradictions in the statements credited to the Army spokesman, the party said: ''It is true that our once globally-respected military has now been made comatose by the PDP-led Federal Government, but we believe things have not reached the level where the same military will be engaging in actions that amount to self destruction, just to satisfy some political interests.
''We believe things have not reached a level where we, as a nation, will now be giving the impression that a man who rose to become a Major-General in the Nigerian Army does not have requisite qualifications?

''What really is happening in our country if some politicians have now decided to engage in an action that will amount to dragging the military into politics, dividing an institution that is a symbol of national unity, trivializing the service of those who fought to keep Nigeria one and ridiculing the same country it is supposed to be ruling?

''We have said it before and will like to repeat: Enough is enough about this distraction orchestrated by the PDP and the Jonathan Administration whose electioneering campaign for next month's polls has suffered a train wreck,'' the party said

Ladies, 10 things you shouldn't do when you meet a new guy - By Adejoro Olumofin

Posted: 20 Jan 2015 08:49 AM PST

This article was written by the Flamboyant Psychologist Adejoro Olumofin. Enjoy...
Ladies, 10 things you shouldn't do when you meet a new guy or new catch.
(1) Don't take your friends along with you when he invites you on a date
(2) Don't go to his house unannounced
(3) Don't ask him for money
(4) Don't compare him to your ex or talk about your ex, only if he request

(5) Don't get drunk on your first outing with him.
(6) Don't wear see through or exposing outfits on your first outings
(7) Don't bore him with all your family or personal issues
(8) Don't talk about Marriage
(9) Don't pry about the size of his pocket, his earnings or the car he drives
(10) Don't be too quick to post his picture on instagram, Facebook, (social media) etc.
Some Ladies today wonder why after a guy has shown interest in them or after 2/3 dates he disappears or doesn't return their phone calls, text bbms. I have listed some of these reasons above.

1) Don't take your friends along when he invites you on a date: Some Nigerian Ladies for some reason that is beyond me, take their friends on a date with a guy they just met. I can attest to this because it has happened to me before. No positive outcome can come out of this but some of the negatives are:
(i) The guy will be turned off
(ii) He may start liking or prefer one for your friends to you
(iii) He will never get the opportunity to know you as much as he wants because of the 3rd wheel
(iv) He may think you don't have a mind of your own
(v) He may turn you and your friends back

(2) Don't go to his house unannounced: One thing a man hates the most is for you to show up at his house unannounced or invited especially when he just met you. That's a "NO NO" because he'll just think you're a stalker or a psycho and he'll act out.. Some ladies out of emotions and lack of trust show up at a guys house, what they don't know is they are pushing him away or giving him reasons to leave.

(3) Don't ask him for Money: Some Ladies meet a guy and in less than 2/3 weeks the demands start rolling in. Please pay for my hair, buy me birkin bag for my birthday, my rent is due, or plain & simply, I need 500k or 1 million. Every guy would take off when they meet a Lady like this. They would say she's opportunistic and compare her to the ladies who are not asking them for a kobo or dime.

(4) Don't compare him to your ex or talk about your ex, only if he requests: Some Ladies compare and contrast their new guy to their old one, not only in their mind but to his face as well. They say things like my Ladi used to take me to KFC you're taking me to Mr Biggs, Jide bought me Prada for my birthday last year you're buying me Zara.. Guys hate being compared, it punctures their Ego so allow him be the Boss and take you out, don't compare or dictate terms of dates or gifts.

(5) Don't be to quick to upload his pictures on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter (Social Media) : Ladies, you just met a guy, a new flame, the relationship is at its early stages, there's still so much you don't know about him why upload his pictures for the world to see? The relationship may not even be defined yet.. By doing this, you're giving people room to influence and alter your infant relationship. Also you don't want to be like those people who have to cleanse their instagram and Facebook pages of a guys picture every 6 months because of a breakup.

(6) Don't wear see through or exposing outfits on your first date: Guys are very Impulsive and instinctive by nature, by wearing a dress or gown that's says "SEX" that's all that will be on his mind and nothing else. He won't want to hear anything about you anymore; your personality, your job, your family etc.  All he'll be thinking about is how he'll take you to his house or hotel room because you've sent him a signal saying you want sex.

(7) Don't bore him with your Family issues: Some ladies carry their personal or family problems out with them on dates, instead of making waves and progress with their new guy, they talk about how their house got burnt last week, or how their friend always borrows money or clothes from them, or how they hate their sisters or brothers.. All these are TMI (Too Much Information) Focus on him and let him Focus on you.. Don't allow extraneous variables creep in and take over your conversation.

(8) Don't talk about marriage or the future: The number one thing guys are scared of after God is Commitment or Marriage so if you just met a guy and you're already talking about marriage or children he is definitely going to take off and say you're putting him under pressure and he can't keep up.. Let him be the one to bring it up not you because he'll say you're desperate.

(9) Don't pry about his pocket, earnings or the car he drives: A friend of mine went on a Blind Date at Radisson (Lagos) to meet a Lady who his cousin had introduced him to through Instagram. He complained he had not even ordered a drink when his date asked him: What car do you drive? That was her first question.. "What do you drive?" Most guys would be offended by this and even have a negative impression about you immediately, because a guy would wonder do u like me or my car?

(10) Don't get drunk on your first outing with him: Firstly Ladies, this is for your own safety a lot of ladies have been taken advantage of because they were intoxicated. You also don't want to embarrass yourself and say or do things that you can't defend or verify.
Summary:

Psychologist are of the opinion that First Impression carries 80% of any encounter and that after an impression is made it is very difficult to adjust Cognitive views and Perceptions about that subject.. Ladies don't allow extraneous variables such as friends, impulses, needs, emotions, competition, social media, family pressure control your First Impression..
God Bless

Buhari: I have no apology over advertorial - Ayo Fayose

Posted: 20 Jan 2015 07:54 AM PST

Find the press statement below...
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose have reacted to certain negative comments that trailed the advertorial he caused to be published on the front pages of Punch and Sun newspapers of last Monday, saying that he has no apology over the advertorial as it contained facts. Fayose who stated this through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday said that the truth can never be covered indefinitely, insisting that the All Progressive Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, General Buhari was too old and sick to be president of this country.
The Governor said that the advertorial was his personal opinion as citizen of this country and not opinion of the PDP and I stand by it. The Governor asserted, " I wish to refer to the late President Umaru Musa Yar; Adua who former President Olusegun Obasanjo claimed was hale and hearty to lead this country and subsequently took ill and died. "I must assure all those who have expressed genuine concerns, unlike the APC that is playing cheap politics over the issue -that my intention is not a death wish to General Buhari but a factual postion that APC is covering.

"My consideration for the advertorial in the midst of alleged ill health of the late president is the need for the nation not to forget the crisis we were thrown into in 2010 but saved by the National Assembly which had to invoked the Doctrine of Necessity after protests by the Save Nigeria Group ( SNG) "It is in defence of fairness that I called attention to the potential crisis we may face God forbid that the health of the general becomes a hindrance if he was president and his Vice who is from the South West would have to step into the saddle not too long after Obasanjo eight years in office. " I wish to draw attention to the lead story in the Sunday Tribune of January 18, 2015,‎entitled, " Buhari's planned visit to US causes furore."

" The story revealed that arrangement had been concluded to fly Buhari to US for a medical check up. That Buhari has been stressed from effects of the rigours of presidential campaigns across the country and he is definitely in need of medical attention, adding that age was a factor as rigours of the campaign was‎ getting at him". Fayose therefore adviced Buhari to be sincere with himself and step down for a younger and more vibrant person..again,I say it that Buhari is too old and spent to lead nigeria.

The Governor added, "The health of all of us who have stepped into the leadership space is nothing personal to us anymore as it has implications on the polity." Fayose said that he was certain that time will vindicate him, calling on all Nigerians to vote enmass for the vibrant and energetic President Jonathan to avoid a repeat of history.

Alomo Bitters creates brand differentiation through consumer education

Posted: 20 Jan 2015 07:38 AM PST

Kasapreko, makers of award winning Alomo Bitters, recently ended its campaign which held over the holiday season to educate consumers , create clear brand differentiation and to make more Nigerians informed about the features that distinguish Alomo Bitters from the imitated version and other substandard bitter products in the market.

The marketing initiative, kicked off shortly before Christmas and lasted till mid-January 2015, was also intended to deepen consumer consciousness about their wellness and safety by encouraging them to make healthier choices in things they eat and drink amidst the euphoria of the yuletide.

To this end, a well branded activation truck and a team of Brand Ambassadors were deployed to strategic touch points in the city of Lagos to educate consumers on the safety features of Alomo Bitters as distinct from the imitated version and other bitters in the market. For days, the ambassadors moved from social events to street carnivals and jams, market areas and neighborhoods across the city of Lagos to drive the brand key message of Alomo Bitters as the ''authentic African herbal bitters.''

The ambassadors also distributed flyers which contained vital product information. Radio hypes anchored by popular On Air Personalities and a television commercial that had been specifically produced, also ran on select city stations just to ensure the consumers are equipped with adequate information they need on Alomo Bitters, thereby safeguarding them from harmful imitated products in the market. According to officials of the company, the rationale for the initiative was that as Nigerians shopped and caught fun of yuletide, they could also be assisted in making healthy choices while they also get some incentives for their loyalty to the brand over the years. Managing Director, Kasapreko Company Nigeria Limited, Mr. Kojo Nunoo, said the marketing initiative was part of steps to empower consumers to have access to genuine Alomo Bitters at all times against the backdrop of the criminal faking of the brand. ''Criminal faking of the original Alomo Bitters has been a major challenge we face in Nigeria.

As a safety, health conscious, ethical and responsible corporate citizen, this bothers us a lot, hence this campaign is aimed at helping the consumers to know the things to look out for when buying Alomo Bitters,'' he said. While stressing that the campaign also affirms the company's conviction in the time-honoured dictum that consumer is king, Nunoo said the safety and wellbeing of consumers are of utmost importance to the firm. ''This is why we leveraged the Christmas and New Year festivities to bring the flagship Alomo Bitters closer to the Nigerians, so they can know more about their favourite Alomo Bitters, made in Ghana by Kasapreko Company Limited. We were delighted to use the occasion of the year-end to also share love with Nigerians and to promote friendship, a key brand personality attribute of Alomo Bitters,'' he declared. Corroborating, the Sales and Marketing Director, Mr. Sam Osafo, said the consumer activation aligned with Kasapreko's vision of care which flows in every sip of Alomo Bitters which people take.

''This consumer contact programme re-assures lovers of bitter drink that any time they drink Alomo Bitters, they are not only drinking to enjoy; they are also drinking to stay healthy because of the medicinal qualities of Alomo Bitters,'' he said. In the same vein, Marketing Manager Mr. Peter Adegor said of the campaign, ''we ensure that the quality of our product is consistent from the point of sourcing the ingredients to the production stage and all through to packaging and delivery. The intent is that the consumers have the finest Alomo Bitters in their hands, hence this initiative to get the consumers well informed about the original Alomo Bitters is consistent with the quality assurance value chain that stands out our brand of bitters from others.''

In order to deepen consumer experience during the weeklong activation, Adegor said free brand collaterals such as flyer, T-shirt, face cap and ball point pen among others were given out in addition to huge discount enjoyed by consumers at the point of purchase. Alomo Bitters footprint gained momentum with the official approval of the brand by the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the opening of Kasapreko Company Nigeria Limited (KCNL), in Lagos. The product gained wider community of brand loyalists among Nigerians who had yearned for something different from lager beer.

We don't have Buhari's credentials - Nigerian Army release statement

Posted: 20 Jan 2015 06:30 AM PST

The Nigerian Army says it does not have in its possession the original or copies of the credentials of the presidential candidate of the APC, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. The position of the army was made known at a press conference in Abuja today Jan. 20th. The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig, Gen O. Laleye addressed news men. What he said below...
Gentlemen of the Press, I am pleased to welcome everyone back from the Christmas and the 2015 New Year festivities. On behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army, I wish you all a happy and more fulfilling 2015. Since our last media briefing on 31 December, 2014, some issues relating to the Nigerian Army have occurred and this briefing is holding specifically to address them.
I will begin with the Major General Muhammadu Buhari certificate controversy.
Gentlemen, let me state clearly that the Nigerian Army holds the retired senior officer in very high esteem and respect and would not be a party to any controversy surrounding his eligibility for any political office. Suffice to state that Major General Buhari rose steadily to the enviable rank of Major General before becoming the Head of State of our dear country in December 1983.

The media hype on retired Major General Muhammadu Buhari's credentials as well as the numerous requests made by individuals and corporate bodies to the Nigerian Army on this issue have necessitated that we provide the facts as contained in the retired senior officer's service record.

Records available indicate that Major General M Buhari applied to join the military as a Form Six student of the Provincial Secondary School, Katsina on 18 Oct 61. His application was duly endorsed by the Principal of the school, who also wrote a report on him and recommended him to be suitable for military commission. It is a practice in the NA that before candidates are shortlisted for commissioning into the officers' cadre of the Service, the Selection Board verifies the original copies of credentials that are presented.

However, there is no available record to show that this process was followed in the 1960s.

Nevertheless, the entry made on the NA Form 199A at the point of documentation after commission as an officer indicated that the former Head of State obtained the West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1961 with credits in relevant subjects: English Language, Geography, History, Health Science, Hausa and a pass in English Literature. Neither the original copy, Certified True Copy (CTC) nor statement of result of Major General M Buhari's WASC result is in his personal file.

I hope this explanation will put to rest the raging controversy surrounding the secondary school credentials of Major General Mohammed Buhari as it affects the Nigerian Army.

I will also seize this opportunity to make some observations on the recent CNN report titled 'The Battle Against Boko Haram', which was aired a few days ago. I believe we all hold the CNN in high esteem. However, CNN's report on issues concerning kitting, equipment, medical treatment and corruption in the Nigerian Army is perhaps the best example of a media house's show of bias, ignorance, poor journalism, unprofessionalism and handiwork of a sponsored documentary. Let me start with kitting. It would interest you to know that there is no Army in the world where personnel do not purchase additional uniforms and kits to augment those officially issued to them. Accordingly, the Nigerian Army without fail issues uniforms and kits to its personnel periodically.

Like other armies, the NA has over the years, established ordnance shops in all its barracks and cantonments where uniforms and kits are sold at subsidized prices to its personnel from allowances already provided in their pay slips. Similarly, you will agree with me that the NA has a very functional health care delivery system in the country. There is no barrack or cantonment that does not have at least one Medical Inspection Room, Medical Reception Station or Medical Hospital.

The NA fully subscribes to the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and this is functional in all its health facilities. Specifically, personnel in the North East have the best medical treatment in that the various health facilities in all the barracks and cantonments are well equipped. Notwithstanding this, personnel with extensive injuries are evacuated to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital Kaduna (44 NARHK), while others are promptly flown abroad for medical treatment. Therefore, issue of a soldier of the NA paying for treatment and drugs covered by the NHIS is absurd. The Nigerian Army's undoubted operational gains in the North East of recent, have rubbished the claim of Boko Haram out-gunning the NA.

The CNN would do well to beam its searchlight on the atrocities of Boko Haram terrorists against innocent and defenseless Nigerians rather than the NA. Equally, the NA in the past had requested severally that any evidence of corruption in the NA should be reported to the appropriate authority. Till date, no such evidence has been forwarded but rather all we see and hear are sweeping statement of the purported corruption in the NA. In the case of Nick Robertson, his leading questions and introduction of the word 'corruption' to the unknown person purported to be a soldier of the NA was most unprofessional and merely justifies a paid exercise. The CNN in the past have interviewed authorised personnel of other countries' armies and not unauthorized hooded criminals to speak to the media.

The CNN knows very well how to contact the relevant offices to clarify issues concerning the NA but chooses rather to conduct a clandestine interview in a kiosk with a faceless person and a masked individual who obviously know nothing about the NA.

Finally, the Nigerian Army wishes to state that it will remain focused on its mission to rid Nigeria of terrorism and insurgency. To that end, it has commenced the implementation of the extensive operational, administrative and logistical decisions reached during 2014 COAS Annual Conference. In no distant future, law abiding Nigerians will begin to see very positive results in terms of security, particularly in the North East and our dear nation generally. Before I depart, I once again seize this opportunity to reiterate the NA's unalloyed loyalty and subordination to civil authority as presided over by His Excellency, President and Commander – in – Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR.

The Nigerian Army also wishes to emphasize its adherence to the principles and respect of human rights in the discharge of its constitutional duties. It further calls on everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspected breach of the peace to security agencies.
Thank you and God Bless.
