Meet the man who murdered his rich dad for reducing his pocket money Posted: 06 Jan 2015 12:53 PM PST 30 year Thomas Gilbert Jr, (pictured left) shot his 70year old rich dad Thomas Gilbert (pictured right) at his Manhattan home on Sunday afternoon January 4th. Gilbert Sr was the founder of $200million hedge fund, Wainscott Capital. Thomas Jr had gone to see his father at his home after the father threatened to stop paying his $2,400-a-month rent and also cut his weekly allowance to $300, according to New York Daily News. While father and son were reportedly arguing about their issues, Thomas Jr sent his mother out of the house to buy him a sandwich so she wouldn't witness what he was planning to do. According to reports, Thomas, who attended $50,000-a-year school, then shot his father in the head and left the gun, said to belong to his father, on his chest. The hedge fund founder's body was discovered by his wife who then called police and told them she'd left her son with his father before she left the house that afternoon. She then gave the police her son's address. The NYPD arrested Thomas Jr later at his own home and this morning charged him with his father's murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

So Christ Embassy worshippers are mad that they paid N1k for their New Year crossover service? Posted: 06 Jan 2015 11:28 AM PST Like he's been doing for the last few years, since 2010 I think, pastor Chris Oyakhilome of Christ Embassy made his followers pay N1,000 each as gate fee to attend the Church's New Year Crossover service which held at their Ikeja church HQ on Dec. 31st, 2014. The ones who could afford to buy the gate pass were allowed in, the ones who couldn't were asked to go back. Now, some of them are mad. In 2013, the church said the reason they did this was to reduce the number of people who come for the annual service, because the venue couldn't handle the thousands that showed up, many or whom were not even members of the church. So, it was their own way of controlling the crowd. So the HQ sitting capacity is about 20k, and let's say half of the crowd paid N1k each, that would be about N10m for the church from just gate fee. Some say it's extortion, that no church should ever ask for money for members to attend, some say they understand why the church would insist on this. What do you think? Is crowd control a reasonable excuse to collect gate fee at a church?

Shekau is a lunatic, his actions are beneath the act of an animal - Borno state Gov Posted: 06 Jan 2015 08:32 AM PST Governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima has described the leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau as a Lunatic who does not deserve any respect. Gov Shettima said this while speaking to state house correspondence after an emergency security meeting between the North Eastern governors, security chiefs and President Jonathan at the state house earlier today "Shekau is a lunatic. He is a deranged element. He is not somebody anybody should give any molecule of respect. His actions are beneath the act of even an animal, believe me. I'm an eternal optimist and I am passionate too for that matter, that we shall have enduring peace very soon with the very robust frame work on ground. We don't want to mention a date or anything but I believe our military is arising to the challenges of the time. Our military will robustly respond to the challenges, I believe. Like I said earlier, I'm an eternal optimist; we have to hope for the best against whatever odds" he saidThe governor said some areas in Borno state are partially in the control of Boko Haram but says he is optimistic that the state would surmount the challenges "There are some local governments that are partially under the control of the insurgents and there are some that are largely under our control. I really don't want to bolster Boko Haram by quoting numbers and figures because these lunatics feast on the oxygen of publicity. The more publicity they get, the happier they become. I don't want to give them that luxury. But I want to assure you that with 1,000 years of recorded history, Borno shall rise again in spite of all the challenges, believe me Insha Allah." he said

Naomi Campbell and Mike Tyson bathroom hook-up exposed Posted: 06 Jan 2015 07:42 AM PST In the late 80's, every model, actress and high society chick wanted a piece of Mike Tyson...and it looks like super model Naomi Campbell was one of them. A new book written by the former heavy weight champion's best friend Rory Holloway exposed the night Mike Tyson met Naomi Campbell and hooked up with her in a night club bathroom… From Page Six, The pair met at a Russell Simmons party and as Holloway tells it, hit it off immediately. "I was there to keep Mike out of trouble, doing my usual babysitting job, and when I looked over, he was talking to this girl," Holloway writes. "I had to rub my eyes. I mean, the most exciting thing at that time was Naomi Campbell. She was wild and vivacious, with these legs that went on for days. "I'm stuck holding their drinks 'cause Mike says he gotta use the restroom. Next thing I know, Naomi's following him in there. Holy s–t. Guests are walking up. 'Bathroom's taken,' I'm telling them. "Minutes go by and it's getting uncomfortable. I finally crack open the door, 'C'mon Mike.' I see Naomi. She's up on the toilet, heels and long legs spread, skirt hiked up, and Mike's pumping away." Holloway's book features dozens of stories like these.Mike Tyson and Rory Holloway were childhood friends until they fell out in the 90s.

New video: Gloria Ibru ft O' Franklin - Suga Mama Posted: 06 Jan 2015 07:15 AM PST Gloria started singing at age seven as a member of the All Saints Anglican Church choir, Yaba. She was a member of the church choir until she was 27 years old. Even when she traveled to the US for her university education, she still found time to sing in the church choir whenever she was home on holiday. However, singing socially did not start for her until she returned home finally in 1987. "I did it as a hobby," she says, "and because I love to sing, I sang everywhere. Professionally, when I started making money from it was 16 years ago when I opened the bar. I have been doing this for basically all my life. I sang in the school choir, church choir, but the band has been doing this together professionally for 17 years." Her love for music made her open a bar called Mama G's at Apapa. She had a band that used to come in to perform every night. But the band's inconsistency in putting up appearances at Mama G's forced her to put a band together and begin a new career in music. Ibru has done three bars and each of them failed due to rent challenges. This may sound ridiculous considering her father's wealth. Owning a property shouldn't be a problem. But Ibru will have none of that at all. She is too independent-minded to be clouded by her father's business empire and wealth. "Is it my father that wants to open a bar?" she asks unashamedly. "I am the one that wants to open a bar so I should work hard towards acquiring my own. My father is still alive. He has not divided his property." Ibru's passion lies with highlife, jazz and calypso. Often her beat could be a mixture of the three genres. Little wonder she says: "My album will be a fusion of highlife and jazz, highlife and calypso. Those are my genres. I use my songs to fight for all kinds of issues. There are jazz artistes, there are highlife artistes, but I call mine jazz life. It is a fusion of highlife and jazz." With jazz life, Ibru's own creation, one is not surprised that she may be towing the line of great musicians like Fela Anikulapo, Sunny Ade, etc who created and popularised their own kind of music that have become legendary. Hence she defines good music as "music that is constructed". "What I understand as a good song has verse, chorus, verse, chorus bridge, chorus end. There is construction to music. I don't understand how you will go into a studio, cook a beat down in 10 minutes and just sing la-la-la-l-ala and say you have done music. That is not music, that is a beat on your computer," she says.

Her wounds then got infected, causing septic shock. Photos: Woman brutally beaten by husband for allegedly greeting her pastor Posted: 06 Jan 2015 06:04 AM PST Story sent to me and written by journalist and lawyer, Barrister Chukwudi Iwuchukwu. Read below... For Comfort Oluwaseun Adebowale, Marriage is for better for worse. This principle has been her guiding Philosophy since she walked down the aisle with her husband of 15 years Olorode Abimbola Gbenga (pictured right) a teacher in Abeokuta Ogun State. Comfort (pictured left) decided to love and give him a chance when they met in 1999 though he was a nobody then, his parents were late and his family abadoned him to fate and harsh realities of the society She was the one paying the bills and sponsoring him in school, in her words" I did it for love believing I was investing in the future of the man That I loved And wanted to spend the rest of my life with"
I was enduring, hoping and praying that he will change, I cried to God in the night to touch his heart and bring him back home but it seem that things were getting worse she told me in an emotion laden voice My husband of 15 years decided to rub it on me by dating my friend, a prophetess in our church and the wife of the shepherd of Christ Anointed & Miracle Church Aregbesola Eleweran Abeokuta. Temitope Adeniji In a telephone conversation with this reporter, the battered woman narrated that the husband and the prophetess started dating late last year and then afraid that Karma will catch him, he directed her not to respond, greet or be found talking with the man he snatched his wife who is incidentally the good shephard of their church, Pastor Samuel Adeniji, Good Shepherd position akin to a pastor in modern pentecostal church A directive that she disobeyed on Saturday 3rd January 2015, On her to the market, she saw the Pastor that the Husband snatched the wife sitting in front of their church, she stopped to greet him and and before one could say Jack Robinson, the Husband appeared on the scene and what happened next looks like a horror straight from Nollywood Film The enraged husband slapped her in public and if that was not enough, he picked a stone from the ground and smashed it on her fore head, raining unprintable words on her and cursing her to die. Comfort was left in a pool of her blood and it took the intervention of good spirited individuals who took her to the hospital When I asked her whether she has reported the matter to Police, she said yes she has done that only that his Father-in-Law ACP Olorode Timothy retired as a policeman and the husband has been using that influence to stop the police investigation from going on Oluwaseun Comfort Adebowale wants women suffering Domestic Violence to learn from her story and do the Honorable thing and walk out before it is too late Oluwaseun Comfort Adebowale can be reached on this number 08122174991 for further assistance and help The Writer Barrister Chukwudi Iwuchukwu Is On Twitter And Tweets On @Chukwudi1985 |
